135 books281 followersTom Percival writes and illustrates picture books (you know, for kids) as well as illustrating books written by other people. The most well known of these is probably the excellent Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy.
He grew up in a remote and beautiful part of South Shropshire. On reflection this seemed rather more remote than beautiful, owing to the fact that he lived in a small caravan without electricity, mains water or any sensible form of heating. He thinks that he’s probably one of the few people in his peer group to have learnt to read by gas lamp.
Surprisingly enough he has never been called ‘hippy’ (to the best of his knowledge)
Tom now lives in an actual house with his girlfriend and their two young sons.
His favourite colour is turquoise and his favourite number is usually seven.
Tom has three picture books available, Tobias and the Super Spooky Ghost Book, A Home for Mr Tipps, Jack's AMAZING Shadow and a fourth, Herman's Letter will be publishing in October 2012 through Bloomsbury

In this book Rapunzel learns there is more to life than being a princess and having great hair. It is also funny and exciting. Rapunzel makes new friends. I think this book is great! 😀👩🏼😋

Fun series about various fairy tale characters as children. In book 3, Rapunzel tells a lie and blames Ella (Cinderella) for breaking an urn. The genie who lived in the urn curses Rapunzel so that she is blamed for everything that goes wrong by everyone she meets. Readers follow her adventures as she tries to avoid telling the truth and still break the curse. In the end, she realizes that her honesty is the only thing that will work.
Plenty of humor and fun for mid to upper elementary level readers.

Kirjan pääosassa on Tähkäpää, joka hätävalheen seurauksena saa päällensä kirouksen ja sen myötä joutuu syntipukiksi kaikkiin Tarinalan kaupungin asukkaiden ongelmiin. Ainoastaan Tuikku uskoo häntä ja lopulta kaksikko pakenee Tarinalasta syytettynä peikkojen kanssa veljeilystä ja Tarinapuun polttoyrityksestä...
Aika samaa kaavaa etenevä kirja, kuin aiemmatkin, mutta ihan mielenkiintoinen tarina ja kuvitus on taas todella hienoa. 3 tähteä.

I'm very freaked out about the genies curse. I wonder why he actually did it. It was just a house and he can live in another urn. I wonder why Rapunzel blamed it on Ella. She did not want the genies to this no it was her because maybe she thought she would get in trouble.i don't know why that monkey was green. I wonder who cursed the monkey?-Mia, age 6

The girls and I are still enjoying this series. None have made us laugh as hard as that first one with mistake upon mistake piled on jack, but this one was fun. Tons of pictures, big font, but still interesting for adults. I love that!

This was a fun, entertaining continuation of the tale. We're enjoying how each book focuses on a different member of the group, while maintaining a feel of continuity. There's a lot of really fun humor, too. Great series to read as a family!

Jake and I loved the 3rd instalment in the Little Legends series. Jake was a little disappointed that Anansi wasn’t in it much (he’s his fave character) but he loved the trolls!

This book takes you to a land where popular fairy tale characters live, there are problems and they need to solve them.
This was the first book in the Little Legend series I read to my children at school and to be honest I found it difficult to get into it. After reading it to them I realised that it is one of a series and I think you may have to read them in order. When reading it there was little introduction to who was who and I think this was down to it being in the middle of a series. This was a shame as I feel the children who I read it to didn't enjoy it as much as they could have.
This is a book I would recommend you read to a child if they are under 7, there is some tricky language in the story and they may find it hard to decode the words and their understanding may not be there. We read this together as a class so I regularly stopped and we discussed what had happened and what they thought may happen next.
The story is action packed and keeps you interested all the way, I am glad the children had the opportunity to listen to this, it is just a shame I didn't realise there were others in the series. I do have the next one and it maybe better as they will have a little bit of background info on the characters now.
There are nice illustrations throughout the book, which help bring the story to life. IT was a quick read, I only had time to read for 10 minutes a day to the children so it took me a few weeks to get through, however if you are reading this to a child at night you could probably get through it in a week.
I have rated this book on the enjoyment from the children, from my previous comment, the children may have enjoyed it better had we begun at the beginning of the series and if you were to purchase this, that is what I would recommend you do.

I've been reading the series to my second graders this year. They like how the fairy tale characters come to life in their own story. Each book has a new person with a unique personality. We love the journeys that save Tale Town. The books are funny especially when Alphege grooms Rapunzel's hair. Each book adds to our idea of fairy tale characters. Betsy the hen is very funny with her "WhaaaAt".
