Kyrie Carter is thrilled to accompany her best friend JoEllyn to their alma mater, Willow Lake College, for a ghost hunt with the campus Paranormal Club. She is pleasantly surprised when celebrity ghost hunters Drac and Gabe Petery show up with their team. She is not so pleasantly surprised when her critical former teammate Spook Steele shows up with them.
…is more than just a story.
What begins as a routine investigation soon turns dangerous as Kyr encounters a malicious spirit in the bell tower of Appleton Hall. Further research shows that a suspicious fire had claimed the life of a female student in 1958. After Spook becomes a victim of a similar fire in the bell tower while investigating, the team realizes they are dealing with more than a simple haunting. Kyr and Spook must once more put aside their differences to piece together what happened in the bell tower. The mystery deepens as they discover that everyone—townspeople and campus administrators alike—seem determined to keep the truth hidden about the events of that night.
I don't remember when I knew I wanted to be an author; it was just something that was always present inside my soul. Words have always fascinated me, especially the way the right words strung together could capture almost any experience and make it live for whoever was reading them. In fact, I loved writing so much that I was that one weirdo in class who would rather write a 10-page essay than take a multiple-choice exam.
I have tried my hand at many kinds of writing--poetry, children's stories, short stories, novels, scripts, and the occasional song lyric (although I usually deal with parodies of popular songs rather than my own). In addition to writing about Kyrie Carter's paranormal adventures, I am also working on a young adult fantasy/romance loosely based on the Arthurian legends.
When I'm not writing, I am busy working with children in various settings. I teach Sunday school, serve as a Den Leader for my son's Cub Scout troop, and work with Bible Release time as a Coordinator, Listener, and Song Leader. I'm also the mother of two very active, creative, and intelligent boys and one very naughty, energetic dog.
My husband and I enjoy taking trips to Gettysburg, Florida, and the beach, and we hope to do some traveling out West in the near future.
Or is there a fire in the bell tower? You'll understand what that means if you read the outstanding sophomore novel in the Kyrie Carter Supernatural Sleuth series. Kyri is back in fine form, along with Drac and Gave from Petery Paranormal...as well as the smoldering Spook Steele. The stakes are even higher this time, not only in terms of the investigation, but for Kyri personally as well. I enjoyed every minute spent reading this book and you will too!
Does it annoy anyone else how much Spook has changed? Like he's a completely different person in this book? Also could we not use his pet name every single time he talks to Kyr? Kyr m'dear is used 52 times (according to my kindle search) and it grates on me for some reason.
