This is an excellent book. The story is highly original and imaginative. I found myself intrigued as to what will happen next, and the characters are well developed, although some are like caricatures due to their tendency to quickly switch from one persona to another e.g. several characters were quickly triggered with no initial rational thought. The pace of the story kept me entertained. I recommend this book to adolescents as it focuses on navigating complex personal problems and emotions. Other themes that are prevalent in the book include: the importance of friendship and family, acceptance and understanding of people different to you, personal sacrifice, and maintaining your personal ethics despite being in a position of great power. The story would make a great TV show! I look forward to the next two books.
