Fucking nailed it as usual lol
This issue read super fast, and I still didn't warm up.
So Darth Vader went on an inner trip in his memories, visited the scene where he lost his legs.
Saw princess Padme Amidala.
Got out of it better and freed himself from Cylo's control and killed him.
Now, Is what Aphra doing right now smart?
The next and final issue should answer this question.
Oh, and I drank coffee today so, expect more reading from me. I can't even game in this freaking cold.

Oh that explains the cover.

I love the scenes from Episode III. It shows what Darth Vader feels inside, the inner turmoil that he has and the rage he has kept in his heart. Hes used that rage to kept him going. To be strong. That is the epitome of the dark side.


But why in the hell do you have those red silhouette stickers???

What this issue tells us is that although Vader is cybernetically enhanced, he is human and nobody can control him. It is Force that triumphs over science, no matter how sophisticated the latter is.

I wanted to give this book 1 star and 5 stars simultaneously. 1 star because of what they did with Padmé's image, they could have made it that Padmé's there so he didn't want to leave, that's enough. No need to repeat the choking, it doesn't make sense. This enrages me. Okay? I don't get if they want to normalise violence or hatred for PT Anakin , 5 stars because Force vision & magical realism shenanigans were mindblowingly awesome.

I liked that this issue is cerebral and we got to see that Anakin kinda wishes Obi-Wan had killed him, and we see Vader triumph over Anakin. But it feels like the issue goes by too fast and doesn't show enough new stuff, showing Mustafar again instead. It was cool seeing Vader use the Force to control his suit though. I am curious about what will become of Dr. Aphra.

Cylo reveals a secret kill-switch on Vader's life-support systems in his suit. Vader enters an inner world where even Padme can't bring him back.

This was a particularly strong issue as you saw how far Vader had fallen by that point and how much hatred he had in himself that he couldn't give in.

This continues to be the most amazingly badass Vader ever.

Cylo has rendered Vader helpless before him. While attempting to overcome the situation, Vader reminisces about his transformation. But will those memories cause enough regret prevent him from fighting back?

This is an interesting glimpse inside the mind of Darth Vader. He’s had 20 years to deal with any emotions from the events of Revenge of the Sith. Here, however, Gillen gives us a little insight into what Vader’s conscience might be holding deep inside his mind. It also speaks to where he is at this point in time (between Episodes 4 and 5) regarding his loyalties and his self-awareness. Some fans will find this controversial and disregard it, but I applaud Gillen’s attempt to unify different parts of the Saga.

We hardly get any Aphra this issue, but what we do is pretty compelling. She’s part of another cliffhanger that will definitely have impact on the final issue of the series and everyone’s future. And doubling up, Gillen has one more twist to Vader’s story that should make everyone sit up in surprise.

A different issue for this series, but one that provides insights we don’t see very often.

Okay, so the resolution of the kill-switch went better than I expected. Basically, The Force conquers technology, which pretty much sums up the Star Wars universe ontologically.

I also really love the way they used that final scene with Obi-Wan to manage Vader's emotional states, his desire for release, and the ways in which he's distanced himself from being Anakin. "I killed Anakin" is a reiteration of Obi-Wan's lie to Luke that Vader killed Anakin. (Though, how they all ended up with the same lie is a matter of interest for me.)

And the kill-switch is the kind of hubris that a character like Cylo^n would definitely feature, given his characterization here.

The Vader storyline gets better and better, it shows that Anakin/ Vader are always on conflict, the storyline to me is like a thriller/mystery

- This issue is a little thicker. I love that comics are a certain price, and they don't change if issues are different sizes.

- I really like the simple cover. Darth Vader's inner turmoil is so interesting to me, and I love reading about it.

- Vader's strength and will power are very impressive. There is a reason he is one of the best villains of all time.

- Aphra has a serious death wish.
