About the author

Hampton is a native St. Louis, with a gift and passion for writing. She maintained journals for several years, but it wasn’t until she read Terry McMillan’s Disappearing Acts that she considered taking her writing adventures to another level.



In 2002, Hampton completed her memoir, along with two fiction novels: Two's Enough Three's a Crowd and How Can I Be Down? The following year, she completed thrilling sequels to both novels and additional bestselling novels followed thereafter.



Hampton is known for bringing the heat to readers, and her literary career is filled with many accomplishments. She is an Essence Magazine Bestselling Author, she was named a Favorite Female Fiction writer in Upscale Magazine by O.O.S.A., she is a 2009 African American Literary Award Nominee for her mystery novel, The Dirty Truth, and was awarded Best Female Writer by Infini Promoters. Her dedication to her career lead to a multi-book deal through Urban/Kensington Books in New York City, a publishing house that she refers to as her literary home.



In addition to writing, and having an entrepreneur spirit, Hampton manages her own insurance business where she works as an Insurance Broker for many customers throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. She is also the founder of VOICES Books & Publishing, VOICES Books on Wheels and VOICES Magazine. VOICES is the place where every voice can be heard, and Hampton uses her publishing company to assist writers through the POD process. Her goal has been to work with motivated writers who deserve a chance in this very challenging book industry. I was looking for a fast read with a little drama. Black President gave me exactly that. I found myself more than once screaming at the Stephen. He definitely had my emotions in a bunch. His mother worked my nerves until to the last page! This is one of those stories you read slow because you don't want it to end.

You have Stephen who is the president(I don't want to give away anything but he is definitely out of control), his wife Raynetta who takes more than any wife should take from her husband and mother-in law, and you have his mother who will have you upset with her in every chapter she is in.

This was my first read by Brenda Hampton. This was a well written book that should definitely be in your book collection!

DRAMA GALORE !!!

Yep, the world will never be the same again due to all the twists and turns going on in the White House! LOL, arrogant and cocky, POTUS Jefferson will leave you floored by his swag, his intelligence and cheating but he loves his 'wife' and mother that will have you understanding why wives and mother-in-laws never seem to get along! And government, my goodness!

If you like laughing throughout your story with drama galore in the 'WHITE HOUSE'... everyday, all day then "Black President: The World Will Never Be the Same" should be your cup of tea.

Brenda Hampton definitely had me laughing at the arguments between the first lady and the president’s mother, reminded me of the catfights between Crystal and Alexis on Dynasty. President Jefferson is something else when he gets in beast mode; he’s from the streets and doesn’t back down from anyone. He handles his business with no regrets or fear. I can't wait for the next installment. If you haven't read this series, you are seriously missing out on a great read, and I would definitely recommend this book to others!

Dare I say that this book was a bit too ghetto for me. I didn't like a single one of the main characters. The President was too angry and a womanizer. The First Lady was too needy and insecure. The President's mother was just extra.

And don't even get me started on the fucking corny language used for the sex scenes. Jesus Christ!! This book gets barely two stars because it did make me LOL a couple of times at the absurdity of it all. And then guess what??? It ends on a motherfucking cliffhanger!!! Well I won't be reading the next installment.

Brenda Hampton you have done it again! I loved this book and the story flowed effortlessly. First Lady Raynetta and President Stephen had me wondering what they were going to do next. The whole time I was reading this I was thinking...What if President Obama was like this?? I cannot wait to dive into book two and see what his grimy momma has up Her sleeves.

3.5 rating.....narration needs some work....I was expecting a more respectful, cultured Black President!! It brought to mind The Oval, which is written by Tyler Perry and just ghetto!! Many of the characters pissed me off with the disrespect!! All I'm going to say is HIS Momma!!!! I'm heading to start the next book!! LOL

Whew... what can I say about dear ole Mother Teresa? She is totally messy. How can a son allow his mother to constantly belittle and disrespect his wife and not say anything to put his mother in her place? And how could little ole Mrs. First Lady endure all that B.S. with her mother-in-law and dear old Mr. President? I'm not saying that Raynetta did not have her own issues, but there is no way in hell I would have dealt with all that her husband and Mother Teresa was dealing me.

I forced myself to finish this book. Mr. President was very arrogant. I couldn't find one likeable trait in him. His wife allowed herself to be pushed over by both her husband and her mother-in-law. But, she wasn't all the way innocent either. The best part of the book was the banter between wife and mother-in-law, hilarious.

I'm giving this book 4 stars because of my feeling of satisfaction at the end, and my desire to read the other books in the series. It is, however, kind of ghetto fabulous. It's evident that the author did some research but the whole book comes across as unrealistic, far fetched and like I said, a bit ghetto. It's sooooo entertaining, though! It's definitely a page turner, even though we have a black president with a high fade haircut (how sway??), who drops f bombs in his state of the union address (whet??), is completely abrasive and aggressive to everyone (what works for Donald Trump would not work for a black man), and bangs everything in a skirt that moves (ok, maybe that part is real). We've all been there where we felt that Obama was, at times, a bit too genteel but Stephen is a bridge wayyyy too far. Who put a street thug in the Oval office??

Supporting characters are not particularly likeable, but they are interesting and funny. The feud between the First Lady and her mother-in-law will have you dying. Stephen barely tries to run interference so it's a free for all. Stephen himself is extremely selfish, arrogant and a bit of a dog. We get to see each character's side of things as each character is narrated in first person, but it doesn't really make you like them; it just prevents you from outright disliking them.

In terms of housekeeping, this book is pretty well edited. There are a few errors here and there, a few sentences where the author tried too hard to be fancy and the sentence ended up just sounding clunky, or didn't make sense. And really, if we're going to try for $2 words, can we not choose ugly ones? Specificities? How about just say specifics? Applauses?? It's not 1755. Whether one person or ten people applaud, it's still just applause. No talk show has an 'applauses' sign flashing above the audience. Just jarring and ugly for no reason.

Still I wholly enjoyed this mess of a President and his messy family. It's a very timely book, addressing real time issues, and I appreciate that. I'm ready for Book 2!

I clearly have been sleeping on Brenda Hampton. Black President was the first book I have read by this author and it will not be the last. I could not help but make comparisons between this fictional First Family and the Obamas.

Stephen C. Jefferson was shrewd, charismatic, intelligent and appeared to be very handsome. He was not diplomatic at all in how he handled the Secret Service who he felt did not and could not protect his family and he had no problem speaking very bluntly to EVERYONE. His cheating was ridiculous and to his credit I guess, he never denied being a cheater.

His wife Raynetta was a mess but very smart as well. I didn't get the relationship she had with her husband. I got the feeling from this book that there was a backstory we weren't getting. I saw that another reviewer said there were other books in this series but I got the impression this was book one. I am going to check on that one.

The President's mother, Teresa got on my nerves. She was seriously written as a stereotypical meddling and conniving mother-in-law because she and Raynetta butted heads constantly. The back and forth insults between them were hilarious.

I will definitely read book two in this serious because Teresa dropped a bombshell on the last few pages and I need to see how this plays out. Well done Ms. Hampton.

So, I was disappointed in this book. None of the main characters were like-able, especially not the President. He was an absolute jerk and treated his wife horribly. Granted, his wife is no saint and has more flaws than enough, but I still felt like she deserved far more respect than he showed her. He blatantly cheated on her time and time again and didn't care who knew. Her feelings and public image were completely irrelevant to him. And, why did she stay with him?!? The First Lady has absolutely no respect for herself. Maybe that's why her husband didn't respect her either. And, why would she tell such a twisted lie about being raped. They were a mess, and the President's mother-in-law was just as bad. The only like-able characters were Andrew and Michelle Peoples, and Michelle ends up left for dead in a dumpster. Just why? I also did not like the first person narration. All that being said, I already have the next book on my to-be-read list, smh.

Being the President of the United States takes a lot of smarts and heart.  There are things that POTUS will undergo that regular people will never have to.  Once you get in office if you don't show the world that you aren't scared they will eat you alive and then you will be known as a has been.  How do you go about showing the world that you have earned your title?  Do you go along to get along or do you come out like gangbusters and take the world in your hands?

Stephen C. Jefferson is a no nonsense type of guy.  He is all about business and has no filter.  Once Stephen won the presidency he decided to get started on his agenda that he ran on and anyone who showed that they weren't loyal was out of the picture.  If you weren't on Team Jefferson you weren't on any team at all.  Involved with his team was his mother and his wife, Raynetta and they weren't exempt from being put off the team.  The one thing is for sure is when Stephen C. Jefferson puts his mind to something he is going to go ahead with it and anyone trying to stop him better beware!

Black President: The World Will Never Be The Same is a book filled with drama!  Clearly from the title you can see that we have another black president but the difference between the two you will see immediately!  The characters will keep you laughing in-between telling them what you think they should or shouldn't do.  You are reading but it feels like you are watching them on tv and that makes for good reading.  Hampton shows you how a novel is supposed to be written and I always look forward to her next read.

Brenda Hampton is a brilliant author and story-teller! I was skeptical about whether I would be able to enjoy and follow thru with this book, but from page 1, she had me. I learned so many political things that I never really had much of an attention span for before reading this book. My reason for stating that she is a brilliant author is her gift of giving you the drama and the politics all in one, without boring you to death. I am about to begin Book 2 right now, Trouble In The White House! And to think that things could get any worse.... woo child! Let me fasten my seatbelt for this ride!

Brenda Hampton has done it again. This black is totally different from the one that just left office. Especially since He was born and raised in St. Louis with some unfavorable characters. Not only is he dealing with the free world, he has secret service agents that are not doing their jobs, His wife and mother are constantly going at each other, and his white vice president has some secrets and an ulterior motive. President Stevens shows you that he is more that what you see. This book was enjoyable, and I'm waiting for the next book in the series.

Good Read!!!
I don't see how Stephen and Raynetta stayed married his cheating and she knew about it. He blames her for his cheating because of the lies she told about having a baby. Teresa I couldn't deal with her she is a mess I wonder what will happen when Stephen find out he has a son and she knew about it. Secrets run deep in this family. What I like about this book is that it home on a lot of things that's on the society today.

Great black read

The title attracted me to read this book and I was not at a letdown this is one of the best books I have ever read about politics in the White House and of course having a black president in it with a crazy mother-in-law and a jealous wife I would recommend this book to everyone if they want a real good re-and I cannot wait to continue to the next series look out there’s nothing like this book on the shelf I’m on to the next

Not. My. President! Brenda Hampton you did a good job in making me dislike a character so much, I will say that. I had to pause the audio and listen to something else because he sickened me so much. I just needed to say that. That is all. I do enjoy Ms. Hampton's work overall and would recommend if you like drama, scandal and some erotic content.

The world will never be the same. A new era of presidency and this President holds the keys to the white house. He came up from the hood and made it to the white house. What knowledge and power can get you but along with that comes enemies.
What an awesome read. Not at all what I expected. Talk about twists and turns. I'm ready for the next one.

This was a page turner!

The ending! 😳If 50 Cent was President he would Stephen Jefferson! Lol! This was grimy, shady and scandalous. I am trying to understand how The First Lady is even still in this marriage. To be fair they both a hot mess 🤣 . Makes you think this stuff really going on in the Oval office.
