He never wanted to lead his people. He doesn’t have a choice.
Prophecy says he’s the one who will find the lost Rhomanii homeworld.
Fate has governed his whole life.
But he’s not letting it control his future.
Prophesied as both the Rhomanii leader that will unite the clans and lead them home, as well as the destroyer, Rafe returns to the mighty wheel his clan calls home with the artifacts he’s collected along the way. Only there are forces working against him, and his uncle, the arch duke of the enclave, is out for blood.
Older, wiser, and most decidedly deadlier, Rafe is determined to solve the mystery and complete the puzzle, but his love life is a bloody mess, his double—the annoying usurper, Mikhail—thwarts his every move, and nothing goes as planned. Especially when there are rumors that entire families have gone silent, and he feels the weight of the one foretold to uncover the Rhomanii’s hidden path home.
The forces for and against Rafe are rallying, but is rebellion the only solution?
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
Audiobook review. This series continues to impress me. The world building is stellar. The story has it all: sexy times, funny moments, mysterious events, bad guys that aren't so bad, good guys that aren't all good and so much more.
Rafe is an awesome hero because he seems to just fall into his heroic acts. While on his crazy adventures, we discover some new dimensions to his personality. It feels natural. Emma is a great heroine, even more so for her flaws. She can really get herself into some hilariously tight spots. Mikhail adds the perfect amount of tension and conflict to the story and is a strong character in his own right. All three are developed well with complexities that add value to the series in a unique way.
The detail that goes into the plot, as well as the consistency as I go from book to book, is amazing. I was legitimately hooked. However, to best appreciate it, I suggest reading the series in order. While not impossible, this is difficult to understand as a standalone. The narrator did a great job. The voices were distinct and consistent. She used good inflections and was paced well. I have been happily entertained and am looking forward to the conclusion of the series. It'll be a bittersweet read for sure.
The Space Gypsy Chronicles continues with this third installment of the series, picking up where Sinner left off, with our protagonists escaping an imploding Lac'uus by the skin of their teeth. Our dynamic trio is now floating in space in a very small life pod just hoping for a rescue by someone who is more interested in money than enslaving or eating them.
I seriously love both Rafe and Mikhail. While their personalities differ slightly, they are both humorously oversexed alien bipods. The banter between the two is great... they outwardly hate one another but secretly have tender familial feelings toward the other. Mikhail was really the more sympathetic character of this installment... he is feeling much more turmoil over his feelings toward Rafe and Emma alike. This drew me into his character and created a stronger connection than the shallow sexpot pit fighter that we met in Sinner.
Emma is still the quintessential dumb damsel that always needs to be rescued. If she would only stay put when Rafe tells her to, but she is always running off into needlessly dangerous situations. She even acknowledges that it's not safe for her as a human in a universe of aliens who would rather eat her, but she just can't help being reckless and foolhardy. Normally this would make me hate a heroine, but Emma is just so ridiculously damsel-y that I find it funny.
Rebel sees Rafe and Mikhail reunited with family whom they had been escaping in their space travels. After being introduced to the mother, sisters and uncle, I can definitely understand why they ran to escape their fate. We learned more about the Rhomanii race and history, as well as how some of their alien technology works. I definitely love Eve Langlais' worldbuilding and imagination - she really gives this series a fun Men in Black feel, and goes into great detail on the different types of aliens and technology. It makes me want to go to space!
While I have enjoyed this series and I did like this book - it just didn't hold my attention as well as the previous installments. The narrator did a good job, but my mind was wandering a lot and I found myself having to rewind and relisten a number of times. That was probably more of a personal issue than anything to do with the writing or audio performance. I am excited to see how Langlais wraps this space opera up in the final book, King.
3rd book in the Space Gypsy Chronicles, science fiction romance. Should be read in order. Prophecy says that Rafe will be king and find a new world for his race to inhabit. He, Emma and Mikhail fly the skies in search of the world and adventure. The journey continues.
Lots of funny lines between the twins. Lots of hot sex for Rafe and Emma while Mikhail yearns to be her lover. Maybe he should just kill Rafe and then she will turn to him. He lives to dream. But deep down, really deep, Rafe and Mikhail will fight and protect each other against all enemies.
My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.
This is a really difficult review to write. There is so much I can’t say or I will be spoiling the previous book if you haven’t read it yet. What I can tell you is that this is a fabulous series. It is something that is completely different from Eve Langlais’s other books. Sure, this one is funny, but this story focuses way more on the story than the humor or romance. And that’s not a bad thing at all. I love seeing how she is taking this science fiction story.
So here’s what I can tell you without spoilers. We learn a lot about Rafe’s culture, the Rhomanii. We go back to his home and meet his mother. She is not a nice person. She has kept a lot of secrets. Rafe still holds a lot against her for how he was raised. He still feels abandoned by her. He was sent away to a deserted planet and raised by tutors and nannies. Now his mother did this because she feared for his life, but it was still hard to grow up without that love.
We also learn a lot about his home. The Rhomanii don’t have a planet. They live on the “Wheel”. They are true gypsies in that were roamers. Their home was a group of ships that were interconnected with many rings and spokes in the wheel. The more powerful the family, the closer to the center they were. There is a Citadel at the center of the circle. The Citadel is where the arch duke of the enclave is. The current arch duke is Rafe’s uncle who banished not only Rafe, but also Mikhail many years ago. Now, Rafe’s dear uncle has ordered them back.
Emma continues to be a great character. Even if she is a damsel in distress constantly. One of her issues is that she tries to see good in people. The people in space aren’t as friendly as the people on Earth (that’s really saying something, isn’t it). She is still in a very close relationship with Rafe, much to Mikhail’s dismay. I kinda feel bad for poor Mikhail. I really hope that he finds someone.
I would be remissed if I didn’t mention J.D. and Fred, the imp. These are two great secondary characters that we met in the second book. They are both great characters. I hope we see them both in the final book. I’m really excited to see where Ms. Langlais takes us in the conclusion of this series, King. Will Rafe fulfill the prophecy? I guess we won’t know until the final book comes out.
Narration I don’t what to say about Chandra Skyye that I haven’t said so far. She narrates so many series for Eve Langlais. She’s an okay narrator that I’ve gotten used to. She is okay at keeping the character’s voices consistent. She does men and women okay.
**I like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Still enjoying the series. I'm really excited to see how things end up. I'm beginning to have ideas and I'm looking forward to seeing if I'm on the right track or not. I always knew Emma had a bigger role to play and it is becoming obvious to the reader although the characters are being increasingly dense. In fact that denseness is sometimes very grating. I also want to slap both Rafe and Mikhail and tell them to grow up and get over their Mommy issues. I do think even with everything going on, their character remains strong and true. Overall a good story.
Listened to audio narrated by Chandra Skyye. Each book in this series gets better than the last. It's nice to see Rafe and Mikhael become more heroic than "sex is the only thing on their mind" mentality of the first book. Emma at first seems to have matured, then she goes ahead and does the same stupid stuff she did in previous books which makes it hard to like her. Lots of revelations in this book, as well as action and character growth with Mikhail and Rafe.
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible Membership)
They fled in a two-seater pod, a bit cramped for three, but glad to be alive. Then, the emptiness of space started to play on Emma's nerves, but the two guys kept her spirits up until the beeps started.
Yes, they were rescued, but heading back to where Rafe had returned to after his exile to save his life from assassination. It was with mixed feelings and not in a safe environment that they had time to view what may come next.
The last book left the three on a life pod after the destruction of the planet and the Pit. Saved or rather acquired by his cousin JD and his mother intent on taking them back to the Citadel to complete his destiny. A lot of religion destiny talk, assassination attempts, near death encounters that lead up to an explosive ending.
Honestly, my take is out if the three books I've read so far this is my least favorite. I really enjoyed the last book. Looking forward to the next.
WOW that was one heck of a roller coaster ride. So much was going on. I wasn't sure if Mikhail was going to turn on Rafe or if Emma was going to get hurt or if the family would hurt Emma. But we now have the journey to go through. It was a real eye opener about Rafe and Mikhail. The whole citadel and how it worked was amazing. I cant wait to read what happens next.
Things are getting crazy and Rafe’s uncle is making everyone’s life worse. I really enjoyed seeing the familial bonds between Rafe and Mikhail and honestly appreciate how complex their situation becomes by the end of the book. Emma is still my true blue feminist heroine. Though sometimes I wasn’t as invested as I wanted to be, I’m still enjoying this series.
While some things get cleared up by the end of this book, there are even more questions. Lots of duplicity as all three characters grow closer together, while still having issues. The action was much more brain power this time around, and can’t wait to have it all play out!
While the first two books have been fun, this feels like the one I've been waiting for. Finally we start learning the mysteries of the Rhomanii while Rafe, Emma, and Mikhail keep having adventures.
There's a lot more I want to know, so I'm looking forward to the last one!
Every book in the series has been exceptional...great action, with twists and turns, great development of the charactors...depth of the story and the world Eve has brought us to. One my issues is Emma; some times i find her very ignorant when coming in to a new world...she should have been a little smarter on a few chioces....but that did add some spark to Rafe when he relizes how he cares for her...i wll not give anything away..it is a great series...i read the 3 books (so far) in less then a week...hey, i had to work! Lol Enjoy it...go in to the world..great reads...
REBEL is the third installment in Eve Langlais' SPACE GYPSY CHRONICLES series. It picked up right where SINNER (SGC Book 2) left off with Rafe, Emma and Mikhail (Rafe's clone) escaping the pit and being rescued by A'Diabbloh and the twins' mother.
The Rhomanii were looking for the man who was said to be the one to reunite the clans and lead them back home. Some seers said that Rafe was that man while others said that he would destroy them all. Rafe needed some of the artifacts that were in his uncle's possession.
The same uncle who has been trying to kill Rafe for years now. The latter needed to get his hands on those artifacts to complete the puzzle and solve the mistery. Rafe went along with whatever his mother said but he didn't make things easy on her.
Emma and Rafe finally talked about the incident that happened between her and Mikhail. With everything being okay, they were closer than ever but their relationship was being threatened by Rafe's family and the prophecy they believed in.
Not being ones to give up without a fight, Rafe and Emma fought alongside Mikhail for their future and for the quest Rafe has been on for years.
Eve Langlais did an outstanding job. She takes us on another fascinating, humorous, adventurous and marvelous journey. Two thumbs up!
it was disturbingly awesome. From Pirate to King/Prince/Leader/Destroyer. From wanting to follow Emma into her space adventure to Rafe, the clone to all the characters. The more you read the more is explode into a big giant plot still 20% of mystery but with the next book I think 20% of mystery would become more. Just more adventures to come to those gypsies not so gypsies after all. i just wish the next amd last installment would come today no yesterday.... can't wait.
Book 3 in the series sure didnt disappoint. This series is full of plot twists and complex characters and Rebel was no different. The first book definitely led up to a climax in Sinner and i felt this book was the same it is leading up to a big climax for the final installment of King. Some of the great plot twists get answered towards the end of the book and you can just feel the anticipation of a massive final book thats coming. Its a great third book in the series, it does start out slow but really ramps it up at the end with some great new characters we get to meet. I really like this series it really has a great story depth i find lacking in alot of para romance books at the moment. In fact this book was very light on the hanky panky but the story line and constant plot twists really keep you engrossed. Spoiler :- I really loved the wicked humor as always Eve brings to the table a mix of sarcasm and wit thats really hard to match. I loved the progressions of the characters Rafe and Mikhail in this book cant wait to see what happens in King....
So, Rafe & Emma's, well now Mikhails too, adventure continues. And I was sucked in this quest again. The 3rd book in this series don't lose any sparkle. Some questions plaguing me from first two books are answered. And they did surprised me. Other answers, I need to wait until the final book comes out. Which I so can't wait.
I was anxious for Rafe & Emma. What is waiting for them? My gut was jumping with all plots going on around, thinking this is the time when theirs journey together is over? Because everyone has agenda. To use Rafe. To use Emma. I had to use my brain all the time, wondering who's adversaries and who's ally. Who's hiding by one or another skirmish. Is it uppity, snobbish mother? The crazy uncle? The vampire with useless dick? Snorts! Okay I couldn't help with this one. If you read Sinner, you know why and what I'm talking about. And if you didn't, you need to go back to the beginning, Pirate, and jump into this journey.
So many secrets revealed. I loved this book you never know what is going to happen next. I can't wait for the final book: what is the darkness, why does Emma keep having visions?
This is a good series. There is plenty of action and plenty of humor. I look forward to reading the final book, King. I can't imagine what will happen or what the final outcome will be but I know it will be good! This is not a hea romance. It is more of a space opera.
Space Gypsy Chronicles is a paranormal series by Eve Langlais. In this series you get to follow Rafe, a pirate gypsy, on his quest through the Galaxy to fulfill a prophesy he doesn’t even believe in, for a family and race he wants nothing to do with. This series is nonstop adventure and fun sprinkled with a few dashes of shocking surprises and a pinch, or should I say quite a few pinches of laughter and a mix of hot, steamy moments to make up one awesome adventure. If you have read any of Eve’s books none of this should be a surprise to you. This series isn’t like any of her other series that I have read though, but it is still quite funny and as her amazing imagination and great writing skills. I have honestly never read a book of hers I didn’t like and I must say this is probably one of my favorites.
Book three in the Space Gypsy Chronicles, Rebel, is where things go from bad to worse. Or should I say from interesting to holding on to your chair exciting. After their escape from the Pit what’s the worst that could happen? Ohhh, how about their ship blows up and they are forced to be picked up by the one person, or should I say group of people that they want nothing to do with. Now that his pieces of the so-called map AKA pieces of junk, have been stolen all Rafe can do is follow them to a location he hoped to never return to, home. So many shocking revelations are brought to light in this book that it keeps you on your toes and itching to turn the page to know more. I will say the characters I met in this book are not as well loved by me as the ones from the previous books but luckily they come along for the ride. You still have the sassy, sexy, hilarious trio I have come to love along with their frenemies. Who I must say I have quite a few issues with… even Fred is on my bad side, I think he’s just as bad as JD, but I won’t know until the next book, King.
