Assigned reading for first semester history of England course in college back in the day. Excellent survey of English history from the end of Roman times up to the late Middle Ages. The development of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and the rise of Wessex; The Danish and Norman conquests; the Norman & Plantagenet kings, the beginnings of parliament. Sources for this history are also discussed, as are social, economic, religious and intellectual developments.
