I definitely loved re-reading this book again after 7 years. As I said before in my other review for the book right after this one in this series, this book series is very nostalgic for me as it always brings me back to when I read these books for the first time.
This book mostly focuses on two major storylines with a pregnant horse named Melody who is brought to Heartland and is about to give birth and also Amy's older sister, Lou, attempting to find her and Amy's father. I do think that this book does a really good job of exploring the inner emotions/feelings that Amy goes through with these two main storylines throughout the story. A lot of Amy's struggles are definitely affected/exacerbated by the loss of her mom, Marion, in the first book of the series. I sympathize a lot with what Amy is experiencing when she sees her father both at her mother's grave because she also feels abandoned by her father after he left her as a toddler and her mom after his horse riding accident. I do understand things from Lou's perspective as well.
As a Ty and Amy shipper, I really love how much Ty is there for Amy and concerned for her well-being. I think they are a great match for one another both as friends and lovers later on in the series. I do love how this book like the others in the series continues to focus on the aromatherapy treatments and training techniques that the characters use to treat horses. It just adds so much realism to this book series. The birthing scene with Melody felt very realistic as well with all the details that are included with the process, what the characters needed to prepare for the birth, and what needed to be done when the characters discover that Melody's baby is stuck and needed to be turned around.
I also really love the ending with how Amy decides to name the filly, Daybreak, both to symbolize the start of a new beginning and the daybreak of a new morning. It feels very hopeful and happy.
