A fun rehash of the kooky 90's X-Men. And hey you can't go all wrong with an a team-up with Death's Head. The Poochie of the X-Men, Adam-X also makes an appearance.

Sometimes there are issues of super-hero comics where nothing happens aside from conversations and set-up. And, sometimes there are issues of super-hero comics where too much happens. This is an example of that, to an extreme. Too many characters, too many thrown-in side plots that made it impossible for me to enjoy this and left me feeling indifferent to it all. On a positive side, the art team’s style is close enough to the animated series that fans of that should be very comfortable here. Hey, somebody has to like this book.
Intergalactic rock star Lila Cheney is headlining the Lilapalooza music festival (featuring The Flaming Lips and The Toadies) and enlists the X-Men to work security. Fabian Cortez, the upstart with the power to make mutants’ powers go haywire, infiltrates the road crew and then gets Lila’s teleportation powers to go wild, leaving her and the X-Men on an unknown planet. That planet is also the hideout of some members of The Brood, who have been ostracized because they are mutants as well. Then the Gladiator shows up and confuses things, just before Apocalypse shows up with his new team and gets into the mess.
Did the creators realize the title was going to end, and decided this was their last chance to involve these characters in their story? How can you follow a mess like that? They just stumble over each other.
TWO STARS, and that is generous.

A fun read for longtime fans of the X-Men (and Marvel in general), with some great cameos from supporting characters and real-life bands. However, that's also the problem -- it feels like they are trying to get every possible X-Men character into the story somehow, even if it means ditching plotlines and rushing through to a conclusion that's a bit too much like that of the first volume.

So so much going on that it becomes a hot mess and has character changes that makes me miss the classic cartoon as this lacks the charm.

The 90's nostalgia pushes this comic higher and higher for me. In the 90's, I not only watched the cartoon, but also was reading most of the X-Books weekly at the comic shop. Such a great time for X-Men comics...
The story her spirals a bit out of control, but so fun at the same time. Lila Chaney is hosting a music festival (feat. The Flaming Lips and The Toadies!). When Fabian Cortez shows up and amplifies her power, she unwittingly teleports the X-Men to an alien world where there are mutant Brood. Apocalypse steps back into the light to help lead mutant kind to defeat a Celestial... and it continues from there.
The best parts of the book are when an obscure character shows up. Here are the 90's characters within:
X-Men - Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Gambit, Jubilee, Bishop, Beast, Psylocke, Rogue, Xavier

Generation X - Monet, Chamber, Artie, Penance, Mondo, Dead Girl, Synch, Husk

X-Factor - Havok, Polaris, Forge, Strong Guy, Wolfsbane, Multiple Man

X-Force - Cable, Shatterstar, Domino, Feral, Archangel, Deadpool

X-Tremists - Adam-X, Marrow, Random, Maggot

Others - Apocalypse, Mystique, Bastion, Exodus, Gladiator, Fitzroy, Joseph, Cassandra Nova, X-Brood, Death's Head, Abigail Brand, X-Men 2099, Doom, etc.... ALL IN THEIR 90's GLORY!

This title is over, but hopefully not forever. Loved this whole run. High recommend, but only if you miss 90's Marvel!

Well, if you're going to end an already crazy comic, you might as well end it with a bang. And what started with a Woodstock-style music festival ended up with an interstellar adventure, time-traveling mutants, and everyone coming together to face a mutant-hating Celestial. It's pretty crazy, but the good kind of crazy and it totally works well.

And they really dogpiled characters upon characters in this book. And by the time the book is over, not only do we have the Generation X kids and X-Men 2099 in the future, we also have X-Factor, X-Force, and most of the villains we encountered over the course of the original cartoon and then some. It's truly a celebration of the time period and I'm glad they didn't limit themselves to the show and expanded things to cover the comics from the time as well.

I'll rather miss this book.

Ah, nostalgia. This was my era. Reading this, I actually thought "Hey! Adam-X, the X-Treme! Cool!" I may be the only person to have thought that in the history of ever.

The X-Men start at a concert by Lila Cheney. Then they find themselves on a planet on the other side of the universe because, you know, Lila Cheney. But they manage to get back in time to help Apocalypse (!) fight a celestial.

I've been watching the cartoon on Disney+, so now I hear the voice actors from the show.

Guest starring the bands The Toadies and The Flaming Lips.

With cameos from (deep breath):
X-Factor
X-Force
Generation X
Death's Head
Abigail Brand
Adam-X, the X-Treme
Marrow
Random
Maggott
The Shi'ar Imperial Guard
The Brood
X-Men 2099
Doom 2099
Fabian Cortez
Trevor Fitzroy
Mystique
Apocalypse
...and probably someone I'm forgetting.

Stupid, forgettable superhero junk. That's why I read comix though, just to be distracted by some stupid junk. At the end of it all of humanity becomes X-men to fight the Big Cosmic-Bad, there's even a cute Muslima w/her cute head-covering I guess who represents the billion teeming Muslim masses who are now mutants now too. Chilling stuff. Otherwise even though the Big Cosmic-Bad remains unbattled and undefeated at the end of this comic I don't think I'll be tracking down anymore X-Men '92 stuff. I picked this one because I actually thought it said "Lolapalooza," not "Lilapalooza," and as well because I saw it featured the Flaming Lips who somehow are able in '92 to play music they wouldn't put out until '99. I know I shouldn't quibble it being a made-up alternative reality and all.

The X-men Animated Series remains my defining version of the franchise. The only way they could make it better would be to include Kitty Pryde. The 92 revival is a pretty good collection of adventures that involve fantastic reimaginings of classic X-men characters (and not so classic ones).

Lilapalooza centers around a concert being put by one of my favorite overlooked X-men characters, Lila Cheney. For those unfamiliar with her, she's a British Joan Jett who is an intergalactic rock star. I love her use here and wish the TPB had been about her the entire time. Sadly, Apocalypse takes over and a fight against a Celestial that pretty much kills any chance for a sequel to this continuity.

Still, very well written and fun.

This story is packed, and has appearances by what feels like every mutant in the X-Men universe, plus the kitchen sink. In fact, it suffers a bit story wise, because it rarely gets a chance to breathe, and there is little in the way of character moments. However, if you like a face paced plot and lots of fighting this is probably for you. I wasn't super fussed with how it ended, but it was different. It looks like this is the last of the X-Men '92 comics which is a shame, because they are my favourite iteration of the X-Men, it might have been interesting to see the aftermath, do the humans stay mutants? What are the unseen consequences of using Darkhold? Etc.

Set in a world that is based on the 1990s X-Men cartoon and the comics of that periods (loosely), the X-Men are security at a musical festival to promote mutant and human unity. The story is a mess that if it came out in the 1990s comics, it would be a sprawling crossover among all 10+ X=titles. This is almost crack fic territory with so many characters and the never-ending combination of villains.

I would have given this a two is not for the bright art that straddles the manga=meets-Western cartoon vibe. The colorist clearly was havile fun with the simple and bright colors with minimal shading.

X-Men ’92 #3 — Panini Comics
⭐️ Nota: 5/5

Okay this book shows signs that we are moving into the low point of the graphic collections for Marvel. What began as a great book for Marvel comics fans has now become a rushed mess of book with many great ideas and a lot of wasted characters. I grew up watching X-men: The animated series from Fox and in some ways that show along with Batman: the animated series, Spider-man: The animated series and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got me into comics. I was a big fan of the X-men whether in comics, video games, or on television. I mean that animated series drew heavily from the comics being published in the 90s. I read the Secret Wars tie-in X-Men '92 Vol. 0: Warzones!
and I felt that creative team really captured the feel of the show. For many of us the 90s X-men are the true representation of what the X-men are all about. My first problem with this book is the artwork. The illustrating here is god awful even though the colorists are doing a great job with what they have been given. The drawing was just a bit too cartoony for my taste. I can still read a graphic novel even if the art may not be on par with what one may expect from Marvel. Unfortunately it is the plot where this book falls apart. Trust me when I say there is to much going on in this book. The story begins in space where Abigail Brand the director of S.W.O.R.D, an extraterrestrial watch dog agency of the US government, observes an U.F.O heading towards Earth. An intergalactic bounty hunter arrives at a mutants rights concert given by X-men mutant ally Lila Cheney, a teleporter. In course of events the X-men find themselves stranded on an alien world of carnivorous creatures known as the Brood. The X-men then have to protect these innocent mutated versions of the Brood when Gladiator of the Shi'ar Empire comes to destroy them seeing the Brood as a threat to the galaxy. You probably see already that this is just too many stories crammed together. I have to also mention X-factor and X-force show up in the book. Apocalypse also becomes a threat. It is all just to much to follow. I am so glad I am did not collect this series. It just feels like Marvel Editorial is giving the series the ax so the writers & creators where like forget it lets just put every X-men character we can fit into one story. So disappointing.

Collects X-Men '92 (2016) issues #6-10

I get the feeling that the creators knew the book was being cancelled, because this collection felt like a mess at times. Volume #1 had the charm of the original animated series, but this volume felt rushed and lacked the fun of past issues. I don't know if they scrambled to wrap up all of their stories, or if they had run out of good stories to tell, but by the end, I was ready for the series to be done.

Charming short run that I wouldn't have minded see go longer. It did tell a complete story and not every series gets that.

The only quibble I have is that with the fast pace and dedication to a more tongue-in-cheek tone that there wasn't hardly any emotional depth to the characters. If you hadn't already known them/cared about them, you wouldn't find yourself feeling an emotional connection to them after this series.

Ultimately I did enjoy the take on my childhood though.

Quick! Grab everything you can and throw it in a book! Ideas tripping over other ideas and more characters than anyone ever wanted. I'm sure this would have been different if the series wasn't to end at issue ten, but still. Its ridiculous. The joy I had experienced in the last volume is completely gone here. Its hard to imagine what ideas weren't used. It was a train wreck. The art was what you'd expect but the artist had too much to do thanks to the subpar writing. Skip this.

3.5 stars. Vampires were unexpected but entertaining enough. And the cameos from the two IRL bands were cool. But then they just… killed off Prof. X within four panels? And everyone was just kind of like “well shit” and moved on?

Plucky, like the others in this series, and I always enjoy an X-Men jaunt into space, but the pacing is a little too loose to have as satisfying an end as I prefer.
