From wet noses to fuzzy paws, babies and toddlers will love learning the parts of the body from the adorable dogs and puppies in Heads & Tails . With lively images from the lens of expert animal photographer Carli Davidson, this sturdy book is perfect for the very youngest readers—and fun for the whole family.
This is the best of three books in a board book series that focuses on photographs of dogs. This very simple board book goes through body parts of dogs from eyes to teeth to tails. Each body part is shown in two ways, one very tight close up and then a full picture of the dog from farther away. It’s a book that invites pointing to lots of things and talking about them.
It's so nice to see original photography in a genre that relies so often on clipart. Young canine fans will love this one! Although, I'm not going to lie, the cover dog's extreme conformation and pinched nostrils had me wincing. This is a dog who no doubt has trouble breathing. Let's stop doing this to our best friends, and be more responsible about their breeding.
A board book. Has to be sturdy and chewable - check.
But really, what I liked about this is the photographs highlighting differences (and different parts). The cover was a little off-putting for me, but I'm sure others would find the beauty in that particular breed. ha
For new dog-loving new parents/grandparents, this would be a perfect gift.
(I'm cracking myself up a bit reviewing a board book. Really?)
Great pictures of dogs against a white background in this easily understood board book. Each word also comes with a simple illustration to tie abstract representation to the photograph. The clear pictures on a white background make this a solid graduation from black and white to photo-based books for babies.
Board book. I am biased, but I loved this book. All parts of the dog are on display using real pictures of different dogs. Best thing? At the end of the book, each featured pooch is named and you are told their breed. Such cute.
L picked this book out (of course!) but since it's a board book it was equally appealing to baby F. It's an enjoyable little board book with fun pup pictures. I have nothing profound to say about it, but we all enjoyed the photography.
What an adorable way for babies and toddlers to learn the body parts by viewing them on cute dogs! Love this. Saving it for possible future grandchildren.
This fetching board book is filled with photographs of dogs, all of whom look ready for adventure and spending time with a friend. The book is intended to teach young readers about the different parts of the body, starting from eyes that are hard to resist and ending with a feathery tail. I liked how the book features the body part upclose on one page, and then, on the facing page, the entire dog. At its conclusion, readers have a chance to meet the nine gorgeous dogs featured here as they appear in thumbnail sketches next to their names and the name of their breed. Ideal for young dog lovers, this title joins Top Dog and Shake, Wiggle & Roll, the earlier canine-themed books by the same photographer. Ah, those eyes, those ears, those legs, and those tongues!
I love it! The zoom feature from a photo of the whole dog to then zoom in on the dog’s body part (teeth, belly, tail, nose etcetera) make it a fun body parts read. I’m looking forward to trying it out on my nephews later today at their one year old bday party.
