A new beginning . . .

A fresh start. That's exactly what Ally Shaw needs and what she's found in Glacier Ridge, Montana. Creating a simpler life with her young son and reconnecting with her only remaining family-it's all part of Ally's plan to chase away the pain of her past. But when a dangerously irresistible cowboy rescues her little boy, Ally can't deny she's excited about what else the future might bring.

Reed Malloy was a wild horse who wouldn't be broken. Devoted to his work on the land at the expense of everything else, he'd never met a woman who could hold his interest . . . until Ally. And now, beautiful Ally and her fearless, freckled child have this cowboy wanting more. This isn't Ally's first time at the rodeo, though, and convincing her to trust him isn't easy. But there isn't anything he won't do to keep her safe . . . and make her his.

This is the 3rd book in the series but I had no trouble picking it right up. Great set of characters and the Malloy family is awesome!

This is Reed and Ally's story. Both of them seem to compliment each other. Great single parent romance. Love it when love sneaks up when you least expect it. This book had all the love of every kind bouncing around. Friends, brothers, lovers, grand parents...everything! A little bit of tension made the story move along and not become stagnant.

Great read. Loved the epilogue! Looking forward to more Montana Cowboys!

ARC REVIEW

Reed is book three of the Malloys of Montana series by R.C. Ryan. Reed is the youngest of the three brothers and even though he has the playboy image he takes one thing very seriously, his cattle. He is trying to raise a herd of free range organic cattle that has been a money pit, until now. This latest herd is doing surprisingly well and if he can get them to market he has a buyer who will pay very well for them. Ally Shaw and her son Kyle needed a do over. Kyle's father was a military man who died overseas. After it happened a coworker of Ally's started acting weird, and possessive. Ally wanted to get away from him and everything else. She moved to Glacier Ridge and into her uncle's home. Uncle Archer reluctantly let them stay until Ally could get the apartment upstairs from her new business liveable. Archer had some strict rules for them to follow and half the time it was difficult for a four year old Kyle to remember them. It was the wrong time for them to meet, Ally needed to worry about her store and her son and Reed needed to concentrate on his keeping his livestock healthy until roundup. But once Reed saw Ally, no matter how much he tried to convince himself otherwise, he knew there would be no other woman for him.

Trouble followed Ally to Montana, it started as little things but the closer she got to Reed the worse things got. Even her relationship with her Uncle which was precarious already got worse. But she had lots of good things going on that outweighed the bad, her business was successful the towns people loved her, and she even acquired a new assistant a young girl with a knack and passion for vintage clothes. She also had the love and support of the entire Malloy family especially Reed. The only thing bringing her down was the crazy stalker and her temperamental Uncle.

Ally is, of course, hesitant to start anything with Reed, after what happened with Kyle's father she was worried about a relationship with any man. I loved the slow but constant seduction Reed goes through with Ally, the not so subtle reminders that he is there for her, and willing to wait until she's comfortable but not letting her forget how much he wants her. Reed is great with Kyle and with dealing with all the crap that followed her Ally can't resist the charm and the attraction.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read. I like R.C. Ryan her style of writing is smooth and easy well balanced between the suspense, emotional and the romance. OHHHHHH and the continuing story arc is finally concluded! I really enjoy reading R.C. Ryan western romance and I can't wait for more.

I love a good Romantic Cowboy story every once in a while. So when I saw ‘Reed’ at Netgalley last year, I requested to read this one immediately. But life got in the way, and somehow I lost track of this book. But since I’m cleaning out my Netgalley list, it was time to read this book. Although ‘Reed’ is the third book in the Malloys of Montana series, it can be read as a standalone.

In ‘Reed’ we meet Ally Shaw and Reed Malloy. Ally is a young mom of a boy of four, and she just moved her whole life to Glacier Ridge, Montana to get a shot at a new life. Ally starts her own shop, and before she knows it.. the store is a big success. And when Ally meets the handsome cowboy Reed, who seems to want to help her get settled in her new life. Everything seems to be going great. And soon the chemistry between Ally and Reed is getting more and more intense. But Ally isn’t good in trusting people. And Reed has to work hard to get the woman he wants.

‘Reed’ is a nice and easy to follow romance read. The word sweet definitely comes to my mind when I think of this book. I loved all those characters from the town of Glacier Ridge, it definitely had this small-town feel about it and that is something I definitely enjoyed. There were several moments in this book were we met the Malloy family, and I also just loved that family. They were big, and noisy and they just seemed like a great family.

The romance between Reed and Ally was not really what I expected. I didn’t really feel their chemistry, and I found Reed to be a little to ‘to-the-point’. But Ally, was a fun character and the Malloy family was really nice, so that definitely made up for the not-feeling-the-chemistry- part.

I also found this book a little too predictable for my taste. But it was a fun read that really made for a fun afternoon read.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

I think Reed is my favorite of all the brothers. he is so rugged on the outside but a teddy bear on the inside. the one with the most to prove and overcome yet the one with vision as well. He is a true cowboy in the sense that the land is his love as is his family and it isn’t until a little boy he calls little buddy and his mom comes into his world that he finds love and peace somewhere besides the land he works on.

Reed and Ally’s story is mired with danger and mystery. Ally has made mistakes in the past and keeps Reed at bay for so long you wonder if she will ever let him in. When she does wow the fireworks.

Ally is sweet, loving and kind. I love how she saw good in her uncle and just wanted him to become family. I enjoyed how she gave Gemma a chance and saw beyond the outside appearance and to what made Gemma Gemma. I love her strength and love for her son. Watching her get to know Reed and battle her feelings is both wonderful and hard. She let the past dictate so much that she almost loses it all. It was the awesome Great One that gives her insight and when needed a swift kick in the butt so that she doesn’t lose love and family due to guilt.

Reed is kind patient and adorable with Ally’s son. He is tenacious when it comes to showing ally how he feels and very supportive of her. I love how he doesn’t hide his feelings but is very forthright. His loyalty and closeness to his family is wonderful. He believes in Ally and that shines through in his actions when he is with her. I hated to see him hurt and shocked with all the revelations that came out in this book. I was glad his family got closure but hated to see old wounds opened and pain come in.

The romance is one of anticipation. We get moments of heat followed by moments of restraint. What I loved was the exploration of their feelings and getting to know one another. Also how Reed included and loved her son. He didn’t treat him as a nuisance but with kindness and love. he brought him into the fold and included him as only family and a great guy would.
The story is adventurous, twisty and sexy. the characters have you root for them to have it all work out and you wish that Ally could gain the family she wanted with her uncle but she does get a family and see what family means and finds love and acceptance in the process.

I read a lot. Ridiculous numbers of books in a week, a month, a year. So when one sticks in my brain and my heart, it’s usually a more than 5 star book to me. Reed is exactly that—a 5 plus star book. I’ve loved EVERY moment I’ve spent with the Malloy family and I’ve been dying to read Reed’s story, he’s the youngest Malloy and by far the most mysterious of the brood.

Reed is the Malloy who’s put his heart and soul into the land—he’s working his own herd, one that could put them on the map for organic beef. He’s focused, driven to the point that nothing else has mattered, nothing has moved ahead of the importance of bringing in the herd to Reed, until he meets a tiny, cape wearing Kyle Shaw and his mother, Ally.

Ally’s looking to start a new life. She’s sold everything and uprooted four year old Kyle to move to Glacier Ridge, Montana. Wanting to reconnect with her only living relative, Ally’s determined to make a new life, a better life for herself and Kyle.

There are big things afoot for Reed and Ally. Big things like true love, family and a future. And thousands of adorable cowboy-little boy interactions that make every woman’s ovaries explode. Reed and Ally just need to get past, well, the past in order to have a fresh start at their future.

Seriously, I’m still swooning over this exquisite book, all right and crying some too since it’s the last one in the series. I loved ALL of Reed and Kyle’s interactions. Loved Reed’s dedication to his herd, his family and to Ally. Loved Ally and her fierce protection of Kyle and her business. Loved all of the Malloys and their extended family members. I’m so sad to see this series end—I am hoping for one more book to give us more of Colin and Anita. Don’t mind me, I’m just going to sit here and swoon for just a little bit longer. ~ Missy, 5 stars

Meh. Parts of this books felt really dated. The story was told more than shown and the author head-hopped from character to character in the same scene. It got confusing.

4.5*s of family love and cowboy hotness

This is the third in the series, and I love the Malloy family more and more.

Reed is the youngest of the three brothers who were orphaned at a young age and brought up by their grandparents. He has spent his whole life concentrating on work to ease the pain, and finally his organic cattle project is paying off. Both his brothers are now married, but he shows no interest in a settled future. Then a mini superhero runs out into the road, Reed stops him being run over, and the rest is history. Ally and her son are new to town, but getting a proper welcome from the locals who love her new shop.

The romance between the two is very slow burn, as she has no desire to get hurt again. But the Malloy family act as a unit and Ally and her son Kyle are being swept into their arms due to her stalker. Things take some pretty interesting twists, but as we can be guaranteed a proper happy ending, it is just a matter of everyone getting on the same page!

This is just such a well written, enjoyable story, which cannot fail to please. Thank you again Ms Ryan.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

A handsome cowboy, a single mom with a cute son and a villain on the loose sets the stage for an epic romance in the old west. Well, modern day Montana at any rate.

Reed is the youngest of the Malloy sons that his grandparents stepped in to raise after their parents were killed in a car accident. Learning to live the without his parents, Reed often retreated to the hills, always striving to find something that was irrevocably lost. Twenty years later, he's certain that he's on the verge of achieving something that his entire family can be proud of: his herd of naturally raised steers that will sell for big bucks to some of the most famous and elite restaurants in Europe.

Ally Shaw has just moved here from West Virginia with her four year old son, Kyle. After Kyle's father died while deployed, Ally wanted to reconnect with family and that meant moving to Montana to be near her only surviving relative: Deputy Archer Stone. Except that her uncle is happy to see her, isn't thrilled that she has a son and doesn't particularly seem to like anyone or anything except a bottle of whiskey.

Reed and Ally's paths cross and a spark ignites. Determined to keep things light, Ally pushes Reed away only to have him at her side whenever a crisis strikes. Leaning on someone is hard for her after being raised by a single mother, but seeing Kyle interact with Reed and his family makes her want to take a chance.

I loved reading about the Malloys and I hope that we get a peek into the romance of Colin and Anita.

Reed is a pretty standard romance, but I do have to admit that I enjoyed it immensely. It was a great take on a single parent romance, and I did like the huge family that Ally ends up getting brought into. I thought they were such a great cast of characters, and if I had started this series with the first book I might be compelled to continue reading. As it is, I really enjoyed this book it had all the twists and turns I love in a romance.

It was obvious early on that there was going to be a secondary story line at play which probably spanned the entire series I’m guessing, as it involves the brothers early life and their parents. I was glad that it got a resolution, because there was so much foreshadowing that what happened wasn’t really an accident that I felt bad for the 3 boys. I did love the great grandfather in this story although calling him “Great One” was a little weird, but he was pretty awesome, full of snark, sassiness, and wisdom. He was probably my favorite character in this book, just because he had the loving family patriarch down. This was a solid romance read, and I recommend it for anyone who loves romance, 3 out of 5 stars.

Sweet romance with all the feels…

I really enjoyed this small town, sweet, almost gentle romance. It wasn’t all hearts and flowers though with intense family drama and big city danger in the mix as well. Put it all together with good writing and (of course) cowboys and you have Ally and Reed’s love story…

Ally, and her son Kyle, were starting over and hoping to find roots in the small town of Glacier Ridge. She wanted to reconnect with family and find peace and safety. What she didn’t expect was Kyle, an old-fashioned, salt of the earth cowboy to take more than a passing interest. Instead, it was a courtship that included a bromance with her son (so adorable) and ‘swept off her feet’ protectiveness (be still my heart). All of it came together to pluck my heart throughout…

I walked in at the tail end of a mystery but Reed and Ally, and of course Kyle, have whetted my appetite for everything that came before… ~Diane, 4 stars

Another enjoyable story for the Malloy family, this time, Reed getting his happily ever after. I enjoyed the change in Reed as he found a woman and boy that could keep him interested in something other than the ranch. I was frustrated at times by Abby’s naïveté with family and life, but otherwise, I really enjoyed this story!

I finished this a couple days ago but forgot to write the review, oops.

This was yet another great addition to the Malloy family series of book. And in the end a mystery is finally solved that has been building up in the previous books!

Reed is the youngest of the Malloy boys. We didn't know a whole lot about him other than he was the one with the expensive herd he was grooming from an Italian company and he'd been working on raising this type of organic beef since he was a teen. He stays gone for weeks at a time and even though he's also with Ally in this book sometimes, he's still dedicated to his herd, so don't expect to have him around as often as you'd expect. Reed meets Ally after stopping her toddler son Kyle from running into traffic (while wearing a cape and thinking he's invincible).

Ally is new to town and left her life on the east coast to move to Montana in hopes of raising Kyle in a welcoming town and with her uncle's support. Her uncle is Archer, the deputy who has a chip on his shoulder and isn't a very nice guy. He doesn't really care for his niece and great nephew either, but for whatever reason, Ally is still nice to him and tries to make things work with her only living relative. Ally has opened an antique/thrift/consignment type of shop in town - a far cry from her high-paying job in security back east.

Ally and Reed are cute together. I wanted them to spend more time together, but with Reed always up in the hills tending to his cattle and Ally always working or keeping Reed at arm's length, they really have more scenes where they're apart than together. That was disappointing since it made their 'love' a little less believable. I wasn't the biggest fan of how Ally kept pushing away Reed or his family. But little Kyle loved the Malloys to pieces though and he was too adorable for words.

I loved how the family and town embraced Ally, as they always do. It really is such a cute and welcoming town and group of citizens.

There is of course some danger that goes along with this book, as we've come to expect from this series. But instead of one villain, it's multiple this time, which makes things really interesting.

Overall, a great end to the series, I just wish the H/h had more time together to make their falling in love a little more believable.

I enjoyed this book and loved Reed. He is so caring and strong. Ally was a little harder to love. Though she was caring and strong (for the most part). I felt like the author didn’t know how she really wanted the story to play out or who she wanted to be the protagonist. Whether is was going to Jeremy, Glen or Archer. I didn’t feel Ally’s background was a strong enough reason for her to be so hesitant. Obviously, the Mallory family was very caring towards her and Kyle no matter the circumstances. I was a little disappointed in the ending. In some ways it felt like it happened to fast and not realistic enough. I don’t care how small town a place is, they are not going to allow the whole family in the exam room of a shooting victim. I also felt Archer was too harsh and it seemed misplaced for a law man. All in all I liked the story and the author. I will go back and read Matt and Luke’s stories. You don’t necessarily have to read them first, but I think it would be helpful.

Hard to tell if Reed was an egotistical jerk or just a Randy teen, but when she says no to his kisses and groping, he decides to gently kiss her to try to change her mind. Then trying to guilt her into having sex? Having kids in books is hard, and trying to write a 4 year old isn’t easy. This one was written like he was older. Then when Reed gets hurt, literally shot in the arm and shoulder, she gets into bed with him and he rolls over onto his side. And a day or 2 later he takes a shower? It should have been gone over for some of the issues that made it hard to move past. The fact nobody figured out Archer’s involvement shows me they’re not very smart. That was seen a mile away. Disappointed.

I really enjoyed this book. It was the third in a series about the Malloy family and the youngest son, Reed. He had watched his two older brothers meet and fall in love but love was not for him. He liked being alone and taking care of the cattle that he had been researching for years to be antibiotic free. While in town one day he rescued a four year old boy from being hit by a car. On his way to chastise the mother about watching her son more closely, he met Ally Shaw and felt that same bolder that had hit his brothers. This story was real and in the end tied up a few storylines that had been going on through the series. Great Book

I started out liking the story and the characters, but the more I read I decided I didn't really care for Reed. It seemed like every time they were together he was almost pressuring her into having sex with him. I think it came up in every single conversation they had. I liked the little boy; he was adorable.

Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. Sweet love story for Ally and Reed, Ally is a single parent, and when she least expects it, she falls in love. Reed has grown up with his grandparents along with his brothers, after his parent died. You read about the the relationship with his brothers, grandparents and friends, he is a sweet guy..

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. This was my first read by this author and I loved it. It has all the romance between a big city girl wanted a clean slate and a rough and tough cowboy with a little mystery as well. You can't but love Reed, a cowboy who is smitten with Ally's little boy. Great story!

This is the first book that I have read from R.C. Ryan and also the first I have read in the Malloy series. Having never read any of R.C.'s books in the past I was not sure what her style of writing was going to be like and how it would work with me starting by reading book three.

In regards to writing style I found that R.C.'s was a mix of romance and suspense. She had the love story that I enjoy but also had the suspense that has you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next. I think having these two styles in the book helped keep you hooked as reader because you want to know how the book would end.

As for jumping in to this series on the third book instead of with the first one it didn't hurt at all. R.C. does a good job having them connect a little but also make them stand alone so it doesn't matter what book you start reading in the series. I definitely do want to go back and read the first two now that i have read about the first two brothers.

I think that R.C. did a great job developing the main characters in this book, Ally and Reed. There was enough back story on them to understand how they ticked but not overboard where it didn't make sense. I found it very interesting to see the character development through the book of Ally's uncle as well. At first he seems like a cranky old man, but deep down there was more to him that later comes out.

My favorite part of the book how ever wasn't the romance or the suspense. It was the connection that Reed and Kyle had. It was awesome to see how Reed was able to connect with Ally's son and help him come out of his shell. I enjoyed R.C. showing that it is not only important to connect with the mother/father in a relationship but also their children as it can define whether or not the relationship will last.

I enjoy reading R.C. Ryan's series. She knows just the way to pull you into the story. She has given us quite a lot of story lines I know. I fell into them. Keep your tissues close! Ally and Kyle have moved to Marietta to her uncle as her husband died in Iraq. He doesn't like them. She is opening a new shop. Reed meets her when Kyle runs across the road. Spoiler. Reed is one of the Malloys and is trying a new breed of cattle. He takes to both of them. Someone is out to get her. She thinks it is a partner from her old job. Major Spoiler. Now she goes to live on the Malloy ranch to keep Ally and Kylesafe. Now her uncle wants her to come back. Major Spoiler! There is a danger now that started 20 years ago. It bothers Reed, his dead parents and Archer, the Deputy. There are lots of action in this book. I would recommend this to anyone to read. It will pull you right in. Don't let it get away! Enjoy your reading! I volunteered to read and review this book.
