Almost all show-world success stories in India appear the same. What sets individuals apart is the approach and the attitude once they reach the top. No one can resist a rags-to-riches story. It is every common man's dream. But Rajinikanth's story is irresistible. He continues to be an enigma to both his fans and contemporaries. He is simple Shivaji Rao Gaekwad who, by way of luck and hard work became a superstar, and continues to remain on top notwithstanding the vagaries of time. His starrer "Muthu" gave him an enviable identity globally, and sky seemed the limit after its unprecedented success in Japan. His lates, "Shivaji" has further spread his charisma globally. One can love Rajinikanth as millions do, one can hate him, as his detractors do, but the fact also remains no one can ignore him. None can shrug away his presence unless he or she is extremely insensitive to the film world. The book painstakingly seeks to record every nuance of Rajinikanth's the joys and sorrows, the
Written from the vantage point of a fan rather than an unbiased writer. Entertaining for those who already understand the subtext of South Indian Cinema (and hero worship)
One can learn lot from his flash back life. He was tortured by poverty and hungry. He overcame everything by investing only the "confident". My salute to the great actor. Rajni should not forget Tamil Nadu which feeds him. Tamil Nadu should not fail to recognize his fame at all the times. In every Tamilian there will be a Rajini. No one can deny this. The emperor of Indian Cinemas. Rajni is Rajni. Apart from his fame and all. Still he is maintaining his simplicity. Man of simplicity.
You have to be a Rajnikanth fan to go past first 50 pages. It is also an insight into the vast idol-worshiping dravidian masses, who go crazy over their favorite actors (at a times affecting on how they vote, live and die). Somebody like me, who has never seen a Rajnikanth movie in their entire life, this was really an eye-opener. It took me all 375 pages to understand the man, the stylized actor, the typical wasted person in film industry and somebody who is at loss with his success.
the man of simplicity. by reading this one can understand how the man sivaji rao passed his life with poverty.... only by his confidence he came to this position.. and he didnt take this applause to his head... he never mind it and he always lives as sivaji rao(in his own style)..... salute to this man
Simplicity stood out for me : ) simply written for a seemingly simple man ... Once again a rags to riches story ... I am a Rajani fan loved knowing more about him ... Could see his mannerisms as described flying out... I loved it !
A wonderful biography of a simple man. The author has made a passionate effort to get the facts and woven it well. Felt like the flow of the book could be more smoother. Enjoyed racing the book,
