Hard Going
I read the first book last year and enjoyed it. Unfortunately I found this book very heavy going. It is slow and dry, there is very little action. I do 't think that the story is helped by dividing it between the two main protagonists; it leads to disjointedness.

The second book set in an alternative anarchistic East Berlin reality. Good continuation of the first book about the former dissident. Fascists funded by West German money are smugling in propaganda and building internal opposition to the decentralised, self-governing anarchist utopia.
Martin Grobe, idealist and dogged investigator, teams up with his young punk friend Karo to face down the fascists, and to try and dig out the roots of their growing power. They share the narration, and Karo’s youthful passion brings an immediacy to both the story and the ideas embedded in it.

Good night time reading. Good character development. Rather surreal, naïve plot.
