The war between vampires and the fae waged for over a thousand years. To save their species, the fae called on the last of their magic to create a city, hidden from the world, in which they could live out their days in peace.
Twelve humans were chosen to guard this sanctuary. Granted the gift of immortality in exchange for their protection, they became known as the Guardians. They are all that stands between the last of the fae and the vampires who hunt them.
Now, a Guardian is dead and her sister seeks vengeance. But the city faces its greatest threat yet, and the only way to save it is to align herself with her mortal enemy: the most powerful vampire in existence.
As I was reading this book, I was struck by the thought: What does a strong woman look like?
Often when you look at people who have made it to the top, there are a few characteristics that tend to stand out. For instance, their suspicious nature, their hardness of heart and often the killer\brutal instinct that they hone.
And I find myself wondering if it's worth it?
I really liked Isaiah. His was a gentle and humble leadership. And even though he didn't let anyone walk over him, he built up those under his charge. He stretched his charge's strengths and gave them honour and dignity. And I really admired the fact that he never belittled someone.
Obviously I liked Quinn. But it annoyed me a bit with how rude she was - hence my speculation at leadership. And it saddened me, because I realised that a woman in leadership can never appear weak.
It was book three that caused me to give this series 4 stars. I didn't like how Quinn treated Drake as her lackey. And at first I was confused that he allowed her to treat him as such. But then, he had that history of being used by woman. Charlotte case and point.
I'm glad Quinn didn't continue on that trend and who she became in book four was a real improvement.
Thank you Melissa for stretching your imagination and allowing is to visit Summerfield!!!!

It took awhile, but happy to say I finished this amazing story today. It is filled with twists and turns - think GOT Red Wedding - fascinating characters who are so developed that by the end you are sobbing at the loss of any one of them. I rarely make recommendations, but last year I read 127 books of which more than half are fantasy related and this is by far the best!
A wonderful series, the twists and turns throughout kept me enthralled. The blossoming romance between Quinn and Drake was perfect. The series was well written and flowed beautifully, I would recommend it fans of paranormal.
I enjoyed this version of Vampires and Supernaturals and found the rebellious Quinn refreshing. I also liked the idea of a safe place for dragons and their ilk.
Recommended by my wife, I enjoyed the depth of the characters and how the supernatural beings integrate into current society to try and stay hidden from regular people. Filled with many moments of edge gripping action. Loved it and would recommend it.
I really liked this story. I like the world that the author created. I really liked the back story of how Summerfeld was created. I think that would be an interesting prequel. Overall, it was a good story and I would read them again.
I don't really ever write a review but I loved this series. The characters are broad and complex and the imagery was excellent. I really enjoyed the books and will look up this author!
Great series filled with wonderful characters. The books have interesting twists and turns that made me want to read late into the night, eager to see what happens next.
Man! This series was just FANTASTIC! You don't even realise how quickly you blow through the books because it's THAT great. Easy to read and the characters are awesome.
I really enjoyed thia boz aet. It took me 2 days to finish as I was totally immersed in the story. Fantasy is my favourite genre and these books are a good representation.
Where is the growth? So Quinn acknowledges she’s a slayer! Is that the growth? No peace between Fae and Vampires? Just back to hiding? Again, where is the growth?
This was an amazing read. I absolutely loved the character development, the story line, and all the twists and turns. I'm thrilled I finally read this, it did not disappoint.
This series was really fun to read, along with some heartbreak. There are surprises, suspense & a bit of romance as well. I really enjoyed reading the whole series!
I'm devastated that I'm not going to hear about Quinn, drake and the guardian's again. I was completely hooked throughout all four books. I'm definitely going to cherish what I've read and re-read them often. It was great to read a fantasy book which didn't have too much romance in it. It was all about beliefs and how they can change. Strong men and women fighting side by side, irrelevant of age or race. Love was a constant throughout but it was dealt with well. I really loved these book and highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed.
The Guardians of Summerfeld is an impressive work with a rich world, well developed characters and an intricately constructed plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This is one of those series you can't put down, finding stolen moments to read when you should be doing something else, like working. The author did a great job with this story. I would reread again.
I loved this series so, so much. I want more. The characters were amazing, the fight scenes kick ass, and there's just enough touch of romance for those of us who enjoy romance in our tales.
