A native New Yorker, Chris Keniston was on her way to Australia when she fell in love with North Texas. Little did she know the balmy seventy-degree October days would turn into fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk heat in August!

Twenty years later, she started scribbling short stories about her favorite TV shows, giving them lives more to her liking - and the elusive happy ending. Not long after, a dear friend dragged her to a local writers’ meeting. After winning multiple writing contests and making the finals in the Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart contest, she now spends her days, and nights, writing contemporary romantic fiction with lots of emotion, plenty of surprises, and, of course, the happily ever after.

Chris lives in suburban Dallas with her husband, two human children, and two canine children. Though she loves her puppies equally, she admits being especially attached to her German Shepherd rescue named Gunny. After all, even dogs deserve a happily ever after.

Like most women, I enjoy a good romantic read. I love multi faceted and well written characters with strong world building and a intensely intriguing plot. The main characters should make me feel as though I am a friend and the antagonist should be horrible enough that I want to jump through the pages of the book and kick their butts. Unfortunately, "Adam" was an okay read for me because every aspect was just so mundane.

I won't recap the storyline because so many other reviewers have already done so; but, honesty I kept waiting for this book to be "more." The writing was good but this read had the potential to be really good. The main reason it fell short was because of the brevity of the read and the lack of depth and complexity. Some of you may argue
that this is just a romance. Well, that doesn't mean it has to be borderline dull. Needless to say that I won't be going on with the series. Sorry, Ms. Keniston but I wanted more.

It was OK, but I ended up doing a bit of skimming later in the book. I was hopeful it would be a sweet and entertaining CR, with more books to look forward to for Adam's siblings. But as it turned out, it wasn't really my cup of tea. It was a bit too light for me. I found it a bit TOO sweet. Slightly lame and pretty predictable. There will be many fans, I'm sure, but this series just isn't for me. Oh well. Another new-to-me author I tried. You win some, you lose some. *shrugs*

A great start to a new series! Adam Farrady is a small town veterinarian & is on his way home from an all night call when comes upon a red fancy sports car on a road that is not well traveled. He thinks his exhaustion is causing him to see things when the drivers door opens and an angel with red hair & a fancy wedding dress steps out. She sounds as delirious as he feels when she starts babbling about a dog, swerving & running off the road & did she hit it?? Adam takes her into town to have someone look at her car & the mystery starts. Who is Meg & why was she running? Was she married? What does it seem like she's settling in?

I enjoyed reading this book. Chris has a way of setting the beginning scene & using it as a hook into the story. Her descriptive narrative creates a picture of the scene in your mind & makes you realize the chemistry that is present from this very first meeting. The characters are complex and very well developed. I loved the interactions between the women in the poker group! They were funny. Chris has managed to replicate the small town attitudes & environment. The mystery in the story & the illusion of a damsel in distress helped us to realize why the small town residents would accept Meg & look out for her. Chris has given us a heroine that appears to have everything but feels she can't trust her own feelings & takes a journey of self discovery. Can't wait for book 2!!

I was given an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest opinion.

Understanding an author

Reading Chris Keniston's note on finishing reading Adam, I truly understand why the emphasis on reviews. This is an excellent, clean read. When a sham of a husband to be is stood up by the FBI needing the groom for questioning, the bride, Meg takes off anywhere to get away. She finds herself in West Texas being helped by Adam Faraday the town vet.

Awesome! I loved Adam and can not wait to read books about other members of the family! I love small towns with heart and this is one of the best. The way people step up to help Meg and protect her and welcomed her into their world was great. While Meg and Adam were the focus of the book, all of the characters had a depth that made the town feel real. These are the kind of characters that make a series stand out.

I voluntarily and with great excitement read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.

This was a good start to a series that’s worth spending more time on. It introduces the Farraday family and concentrates on the oldest brother Adam. Adam finds Meg literally on the side of the road, and sparks fly instantly. The whole family have interesting stories to tell, and I’m looking forward to the next one. My only wish is that the second half of this book wasn’t so rushed to the point of making things unbelievable, but it’s a good fiction romance otherwise that I would recommend.

This book isn’t anything you haven’t read before, yet it charmed me. I liked the way that Adam and Meg met, liked the town and how everyone wanted to help Meg, especially Abbie. I think Abbie is the collector of lost souls, or at least it seemed that way. She went over and above just helping a stranger, yet it didn’t feel fake at all. The romance between Adam and Meg seemed more in the background, but that was ok too. It was fun to watch both of them moon over each other. I loved Meg’s smart thinking towards the end. She didn’t need any of the guys to save her, she managed to do it all on her own and on a couple of different fronts.

I really loved the choice that Meg made towards the end, it was perfect for her and for the first place where she fit in.

What a super start to a new series! I love every book by Chris Keniston that I have read to date. There are many to catch up on now that I know how much I love her writing.
Her relaxing style of writing is perfect for me and by that I mean they are low on angst and high on the HEA, not like some books I read that are so filled with angst and heartbreak that I finish feeling worse than before I started and it did nothing to relax me. I appreciate this because there are not many authors who write this way.

The first part of the book we are being introduced to the six brothers and one sister that this series will be focused on. This family is a great example of what all families should be like. This book focuses on Adam Farraday, the eldest son in the Farraday clan who is not only gorgeous and committed to his loving family but is a Vet as well. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that he is NOT a man-whore. Sure he's had relationships but he is not a one-night stand kind of guy. Yippee!!! He found out early in his life that he was drawn to animals who needed care and nurturing and from then on he always knew he would be a Veterinarian. There are a lot of town folk we meet and get acquainted with and really aren't small towns really about being one big extended family so to speak, where everyone knows everybody's business and they all look out for each other. If I knew of such a place I would move in a heart beat.

We have the read-headed beauty, Meg O'Brien. She found out her fiancee was a snake and ran away from him right before the start of their wedding. It is when she turns off a main road thinking she found a thoroughfare and after traveling a ways she swerves to miss a dog that ran out in front of her. She also does some serious damage to the car as she tries not to hit the dog. The only person to cross her path that early in the morning is Adam as he is driving home after attending a birth on one of the ranches. These two simply sizzle when they are near each other and sparks fly when they accidentally touch. They both knew there is something between but she doesn't trust her judgement after what she found out about the man she was about to marry and he knows she'll be going home after she gets her broken down car repaired.

Wow, what a sweet read. I enjoyed every page and can't wait to read about about the rest of the family. I highly recommend this book. I have a feeling this will be an awesome series.

Chris has a great start to a new series! I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the Farraday family.

Adam Farraday, the small town veterinarian, has been working all night and is on his way home. He sees a red sports call pulled over on the side of the road and stops to help. An angel steps of of the car in a wedding dress. She starts going on about a dog being hurt and she has to find it. Adam looks around in the field for a dog, but can’t find one. He offers to take her into town to get the mechanic to help her fix the tire on her car. He finds out that her name is Meg O’Brien (Margaret Colleen O’Brien). After Meg finds out that it will probably take a couple thousand dollars to fix her car, she goes to the local cafe owned by Abbie. Meg doesn’t have much money so she just orders a coffee. Abbie brings her the coffee and a muffin and sits down to talk to her. She tells Meg that her morning shift waitress had to go out on maternity leave and she is looking for someone to take her place. She asks Meg if she is interested. Meg thinks about how hard could it be, knows she needs to make some money, and needs a place to stay. She agrees and Abbie tells her she can have the apartment above the cafe. Needless to say, in a small town a new person especially a beautiful woman has everyone coming to the cafe to check her out. Adam is one of the people who can’t see to stay away. You need to read the story to see what happens.

Adam is one of seven children with the youngest being a sister and the rest brothers. The family is known for their honesty and hard work. Adam is a handsome man that many of the women in town wouldn’t mind hooking up with him. Meg has run away, but no one really knows why or what happened. She is a kind an loving person that trusted the wrong man. Now she doesn’t know if she can trust herself. I loved the way Chris laid out the story and introduced us to the Farraday family and some of the people of the small town. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it. I love reading about cowboys, especially ones from Texas. It was a good book and I am looking forward to the next book. I was given a book for an honest review.

Adam: Farraday Country Book 1 is by Chris Keniston. It is a great book and it traps you into the story. You must keep reading to find out what happens to Meg O’Brien when the townspeople find out her past. All they know at this time is that Adam Farraday stopped to help her when her car was stopped on the side of the road in the early morning hours. He was returning from an all nightery with a sick animal and was thinking of sleep when he saw the car off the road and it had a flat tire. A woman got out of the car dressed in a wedding gown. How could he not stop? He got a little concerned when she was more interested in finding the limping dog she thought she had hit. Then he saw the dog at a distance and as a vet, he went to see if he could help it. He can’t find the dog as it disappears. Where did it go? I love the way Meg finds work at the café and how the town comes together for her while she doesn’t understand why they would do this. It goes to show what small towns can have that large cities don’t generally have. I highly recommend this series. I can’t wait to see what the other six Farraday siblings will be up to.

Mundane and sloooooooow...

Slowpoke—but sweet tale that moves at a snails pace-not bad just don’t expect any heat to get your blood pressure up and this one won’t keep you reading late into the night.

Margaret Coleen O’Brien, aka Meg, is running away from her life that is in a tailspin. Everyone from her fiancé to the FBI is looking for her while she hides out in the tiny town of Tucker’s Bluff waiting tables.

Adam Farraday is the town vet who belongs to a large family of single brothers and one sister, who make all the town women swoon. Of course the Farradays don’t date the local townies so too bad too sad for all the single gals.

No surprise that Adam meets and falls for the new waitress in town. What ensues is a predictable slow courtship between Meg and Adam filled with all the gossip and nosiness of a small town.

Completely unbelievable. I don't care how small the town, no one is giving away merchandise. I felt sorry for the diner owner who couldn't take a vacation. Oh yeah, the evil villain doing a monologue about his evil scheme that was completely believable.

Meg is escaping from her con artist fiancé on the day of her wedding when she bursts a tyre trying to avoid a dog. Adam the local vet is luckily nearby and lends a hand. Meg sticks around the small town with all its residents being friendly and desperate to find out her story. Sparks fly between her and Adam and there are some interesting moments with a break in and FBI involvement. A nice read and I might consider more in this series to learn about the other faraday brothers that the whole town wants

Short and sweet. A quick read. I used to read romances all the time and then stopped, mostly because they turned into storylines I just couldn't get into. But this is an old-fashioned, love at first sight, easy read. There are more books (one for each sibling) and I will be reading them all.

This romance was outside my usual tastes for a number of reasons, but in an interesting way. I'm no stranger to small-town romances or family-based romance series, and this is both, but with a hint of cowboy thrown in. Adam's a veterinarian, not an actual cowboy, but who doesn't love a man who loves animals?

And I'm no stranger to brides-on-the-run stories either. Meg ends up in Adam's town when her car breaks down, and with no money and no place to go, she (of course) becomes a waitress. Yes, it's clichéd, but Meg is well aware the whole time of how lucky she is that the townspeople are being kind and helping her out. It's played straight, and her honest gratefulness goes a long way to making me less annoyed with the set-up.

The main issue, to me, was that the story felt rushed. This romance is much cleaner and more wholesome than most--both leads have the stray dirty thoughts to go with their obvious sparking chemistry--but the story arc ends with their second kiss and declarations of love after only having been on one proper date. It's not the lack of sex itself that irks me, because the attraction between Adam and Meg was well-developed enough for a decent slow-burn-style story, but the fact that it couldn't be a slow-burn because the book was too short to support it!

That being said, I did enjoy it, and I'll put the next book in the series on my TBR to remind myself to pick it up later, when I've whittled down my stacks enough.

Texas hospitality

So I don’t like leaving a 3 star review I would give it a 4 but I didn’t like the innuendoes and the occasional swear word. I didn’t like it suggested by a character in a book that there is no such thing as a “virginal” bride. I get that this is fiction but to suggest that no one saves themselves for marriage anymore is offensive.
That being said it was a good story. It had some sizzle to it and I liked that if it could have been written in a way that was less filled with lust. For a while I wondered if the main character would care at all which brother showed interest in her as they were all portrayed to be identically perfect male specimens.
Adam was portrayed as a kind gentlemen that was always giving of himself. Meg was portrayed as a woman that was a bit feisty but was also kind and was a hard worker. Willing to find a way to work out her problems as much as she could on her own but willing to accept if the generosity of the town.
I did feel a desire to read about the other brothers to see how they find their happy ever after so perhaps I will read some of the other books in the series.

Two and a half stars, Nice story, didn't grip me too much though. There's no real explicit content, which I like for a change.
The cover and blurb had me thinking there would be more animals featuring in the story, kinda dissapointed there weren't really any. I wonder if the (ghost?) dog will be explained in future books, or it is supposed to be unexplained.
I don't like giving spoilers in my reviews, but that would leave out a part I really like so I am just going to say I was mentally saying "you go girl" to Meg later in the book. Love it when a female character holds her own either phyically or verbally (or both).
These aren't in Kindle Unlimited and I didn't like this enough to buy the rest, so the rest of the series will not be in my "to read" list.

Although I did not finish reading this, I have read or tried to read far worse. It is one of those books which I probably would have completed if I had nothing else to read on a long train journey, but as it was free and I have many other books available I will give this one a pass. It’s okay, but only okay. Damsel in distress is rescued by ridiculously good looking unmarried young man, who has a bunch of equally attractive siblings (for later books) and lives in a cosy little town where all the good folk take care of each other. The literary equivalent of elevator music. My first and last by this author.

Hard working, caring, loving, are the people of the small town in the heart of Texas, and Meg O'Brien is on her way to find out just how much these folks are ready to land a hand to a stranger in trouble. The interaction between the citizens of Tucker Bell are natural and meaningful. On the other hand the romance is developing rather fast and in a very few meets. That said the novel is an easy read, and you can't wait to see if 'the boy still gets the girl' and if she can get her life straight.
Do recommended to anyone who's interested in a clean, pure, Hallmark PG rated romance novel.

Rereading all the books on my iBooks to see what I actually like and what I can get rid of. I think the first time I read this was back in 2016, and I loved the small town big family vibes (and still do). However after rereading, the romance is SO Insta-lovey. They literally say I love you after the first date and there’s minimal to no angst between them although I do generally like both MCs. The villain monologues his schemes which is always a bad idea lol.

Overall, quick clean romance with no angst, subpar plot and a big tight knit family
