Magic is real and dreams do come true...Be careful what you Witch for.
Chris Heron is a witch who loathes the holiday season. What's even worse is getting expelled from private coven school on Halloween and having to attend public magic school, where Santa's son is visiting and has all the girls in a frenzy. Fairies, mermaids, elves, even the trolls are swooning over Kris Kringle Jr. All except for one girl, and she's a North Pole mystery that has Chris intrigued. Will he be able to put his prejudices aside in time to see the true magic all around him?
Have you ever watched a cat stare at a wall, tracking something’s movements-- something invisible that sent shivers down your spine? Did it seem as if they were able to sense dark shadows lurking where the veil between worlds and reality thins? That’s precisely where the idea for the Netherwalker Series came from for CK Dawn!
USA Today bestselling author, coffee loving gamer girl, and Sci-fi enthusiast, CK Dawn always loved to snuggle up with her cat Hagrid (the shadow-seer) and read. But found writing was her bliss. So, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away CK let her unique modern tale of knights and Camelot dancing in her head take form and fly with Cloak of Shadows, her Readers' Favorite award winning debut novel. Now, you can find CK writing in the witching hours with Hagrid by her side while being distracted far too often by social media. There's more to come in the Netherwalker Series so stay tuned. Seriously, the story has only just begun.
CK loves connecting with readers and hopes to hear from you soon.

How does the magical community spend Christmas? Well, they don’t scrub the floors. A simple wave of their had and the house is clean. I would love to be able to do that too.
BUT, Chris isn’t supposed to use magic. He’s a witch, so, like Harry Potter, he feels the need to test his abilities. He’s ahead of his class and easily bored. If he doesn’t quit getting in magical trouble, they’ll strip his powers and send him to human school.
He hates everything about Christmas, except his birthday, until….
He meets Nichole.
At first it’s fun and games, but when Nichole asks Chris for his help, he drops everything.
This sweet and innocent romance shares young puppy love, wonder and adventure, traveling the world through magic, flying through the air in Nichole’s Lamborghini.
What a sight to see.
In the magical realm, all things are possible, which is why I love to read about the paranormal and supernatural, and C K Dawn has done a wonderful creating a world of imagination and dreams that will entertain the young and old alike.
Christopher Aspen Heron hates Christmas. Not only does it fall on his birthday, but every single year the festivities go on and on for months, whereas celebrations for his favorite holiday, Halloween, only last a day. After being expelled from his coven’s private school for using underage magic in front of humans to impress his friends, Chris is now forced to attend a public school for magical beings. Surrounded by fairies, elves, trolls and more, Chris considers sneaking out when Santa's son, Kris Kringle, visits the students and teachers at the school. With all of the girls swarming Kris for autographs and taking selfies, Chris storms off in the opposite direction, only to run into the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. Nichole Frost seems just as determined to leave the school as Chris. Pushing magic to its limit, Nichole conjures up an incredible sports car and they see the sights before each of them exposes their biggest secret, shocking each other with their news. For weeks, Nichole and Chris are inseparable until an incredible snow storm hits New York. An unexplained sadness overwhelms Chris the very moment he enters the magic realm. When he learns that Santa and his elves have been struck down by a mysterious sleeping sickness and that Christmas has been cancelled, Chris steps up and breaks all of the rules of magic, not only to find his missing Nichole but to ensure that no child on the Nice List shall be left without a gift under their tree.
C.K. Dawn has written a feel-good book with realistic teenage dialogue about a disgruntled boy who’d just wanted to have fun at a Halloween party, only to be expelled from his school, separated from his friends and loathing Christmas just that little bit more. The introduction of Nichole Frost, before going into detail about both Nichole’s and Chris’ ancestors was quite clever and gave them both an unbreakable bond of friendship which led to something more, allowing them to be happy for what feels like the very first time. I quite enjoyed the festivities discussed throughout, with both Santa and Mrs. Claus expecting them for dinner someday soon up at the Pole. Living in northern Finland, I could not help but swell with pride at the mention of the Aurora Borealis, which we are graced with each day and night. The added touch of how the colors of the Northern Lights are formed within each dancing swirl was a pure delight. Although there is a lot of dark feeling throughout the book, it rolls out perfectly, like that of a red carpet at a gala event. Amongst the gloomy feelings of Chris and Nichole, I found myself smiling at little things, such as a homeless man doing such a kind gesture for a stranger during a snow storm, reasoning that our favorite things will always come back to us. Merry Chris Witch is, without a doubt, one of the better stories I have read in a long while and I plan to add it to my private book collection to be read again and again. I recommend this book (with a touch of Harry Potter and Mistletoe Over Manhattan) to all who enjoy festive tales which are laced with drama, comedy, fantasy, magic and romance.
Merry Chris Witch is a magical witchy Christmas tale. It is a cute quick read and includes young love. Some known figures appear like Tinker Bell and Santa. If typos are something that turns you down, there are some, mostly homophone mistakes like: "a human bike messenger road right through it" "I waived my hand towards towards my bedroom" "people went passed us"
Witch, Chris, gets expelled from his private coven school for using underage magic in the human world. At the public magic school he meets Nichole, both being outsiders there. Then he finds out Nichole's secret and is drawn into showing her his world and learning about hers. When tragedy strikes on Christmas Eve, they need to work together to save Christmas. This started out well but several things needed more explanation to make all the pieces fit together at the end. Good potential.
What a fun and cute holiday story. I'm with Chris on the holidays: Halloween is my favorite and Christmas is kind of, eh. Good to know he found a reason to enjoy the holiday besides his birthday! I highly recommend this one.
A quick fun read with all of the right stuff to bring a smile to your face. I love how the story is well put together and flows nicely and how can you not love Tinker Bell as a Principal!! This has all of the stuff to make you sigh in a happy way about Christmas. Great read and I LOVE Chris so bad and so good too!!
Short, sweet and magical. I really enjoyed this short story. It definitely puts me in the Christmas spirit and puts a smile on my face. So if you're looking for a short magical book pick this up you won't be disappointed.
I will say the cover to this novel is misleading. It has the girl on the cover, when the boy is the central character of the book. Also, the girl on the cover looks like she’s in her 20s when the characters are in their early teens. Chris comes off as a typical young teen. He’s reckless, rebellious, bratty, stubborn, yet over-eager, and very girl-crazy. Based on him, it’s aimed at a younger age than I usually read. I would classify this as a Cozy. Everything is very innocent and warm-hearted and the surrounding characters are practically almost all caricatures. (I don’t usually read Cozies. I prefer my reading dark and dangerous, but it is Christmas and Christmas is a time for feel-good). And it is a perfect magical read for the Christmas season, in the spirit of the more fantasy-filled Christmas movies. It also begs the question of why all the indie authors are writing supernatural schools with girls as the central characters. Why not have them star a boy? It’s almost a rare thing. This book should be flaunting it and have Chris be on the cover since he’s the star. Nicole is practically a second thought. She’s shy, quiet, and relies a lot on her pretty hair twirling. This book does have plenty of magic, both Harry Potter style and Christmas magic style and a wonderful blend of the two holidays and should delight fans both children and children at heart.
A silly YA Christmas fantasy short that's enjoyable enough in it's own way.
What happens when two cynical misfits at stuck in a Christmas-obsessed magic school get caught up in all things Christmas? Chris is a witch, Nicole... isn't. But both can snark and bunk off school like the best of them. They both have magical secrets, and they're going to have to use them if Christmas is going to hapen. What a shame they both aren't all that into the "holiday spirit" thing.
Yes, it's twee and commercial American Christmas, but I did like the move-with-the-times attitude of some of the magical characters. There's a bit of a rush towards the middle of the story , which was a shame since the set up worked well. There's also a couple of grammar niggles about the dialogue (plus some repetitive lazy-teen swearing). But still it works as a short story, one that resolves well with the epilogue. Best suited for a young adult audience - think a more teenage Rise of the Guardians!
Merry Chris Witch, first I love the title and I love the story even more. It is a fast paced, page turner I read very quickly and just wanted to read more about. The characters are fun, and ones I could follow throughout more of their adventures. Everyone needs a little magic and to believe. I look forward to reading more from CK Dawn and highly recommend this book....I would love to see it made into hardcover.
What if you're descended from the myths and legends that make up human fairy tales? And what if you're forbidden from using your magic in the human realm you're stuck in? Well, that the story of Chris's life until he meets the one person who might be able to see it and live it from another perspective. Cute, quick read if you're looking for a clean YA tale laced with magic....
This is a wonderful, magical, amusing take on Christmas and Santa. I loved this clever, unexpected story .. I thoroughly recommend it to everyone of all ages, it is truly magical.
An interesting quick read that's new and refreshing! I haven't read anything like this before and it gives me goosebumps and makes me feel warm and Christmassy ( Did I spell that right? ). I love it!
Humorous and endearing story about a teen who would rather celebrate Halloween twice instead of Christmas. That all changes when he meets the new girl at school. Chance encounter? Maybe, maybe not. Read this wonderful story to join in the holiday fun.
"Merry Chris Witch" is a delightfully cute romance perfect for the Christmas holiday season.
Two teens forge a supernatural friendship. As their feelings become romantic, they fins a mystery to solve together, and go on an expedition to save the day.
Cute little story with meaning. Not heavy, good for younger readers too I really enjoyed it and will suggest it to others. Didn't give it a five because it is a short story.
This was a good start to a new series. The characters are sweet and you like reading about them. I liked it a lot and I don't read YA much but this was a joy to read.
This book is really short so you can’t get a real feel for all of the characters in the book but it seems to be a good book from the shortness of it.It is about the daughter of Father Christmas and her adventure of having to deliver presents when her father falls ill
After reading my last novel I needed something short to fill the gap to the Christmas period. This short story fitted in just right and was a delightful little story
A nice little treat for some holiday reading. Would definitely be cute as Lifetime or Hallmark holiday movie. Of course I now find myself craving some cookies.
