Ashley (Ash) Hovey has been living with her football coach father for the past five years, so she has been around college and Pro football players most of her life. There isn't much Ash doesn't know about football, yet when she is introduced to Andy all she does is second guess herself and misread his actions. Then all of her insecurities begin to surface. Why would a twenty one year old college football captain be interested in a seventeen year old high school senior?
Andy Richmond the captain of California Polytechnic University football team never thought he would fall for the coaches daughter. He has never had a reason to question himself or his actions so he finds it challenging when that is exactly what Ash does. How can he prove to Ash and her family he is not playing a game with her? Is Ash worth his time and effort?
Relationships are challenging to begin with, add into the mix a mother living in another state and frustrations will kickoff to a new level. Will Ash and Andy’’s new relationship turnover under the stress or will the challenges be a kickoff for love?
I really enjoyed this story. I loved the characters Ashley and Andy. This is a New Adult/Young Adult story. Ashley is in her senior year in high school and Andy is in college. Andy is a great guy!! He's not the bad boy or the aloof one, he's a straight up good, genuine guy! I loved that! Don't get me wrong, I love the bad boy's too lol. I loved that Ashley can play football and how she stands up for herself. Her dad is the college football coach. Andy and Ashley get together pretty fast and their emotions happen really fast too. At times, it was almost too quickly but it didn't bother me very much. Ashley and Andy have to figure out how to get on the same page regarding their relationship and then deal with the obstacles that come their way. I liked the secondary characters too. I was drawn in from the beginning of the story and once started, I didn't want to put it down. I wanted to see how everything turned out and just get to see more of the two of them. This was a quick read and feel good story for me. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ashley is a senior in high school when she meets the man of her dreams. She is not very confident in herself because of her mother and how she was raised. Andy is very patient with her and helps her to face herself and acknowledge he wants to be her support. This is a story of love and personal growth.

Yes I am going to give this one 5 stars, reason being it was a simple story not over done and etertaining all the way.
Here we have quite a few people with names starting with A. Our leading male Andy and female Ashley. Step mother Angela (aka my mother's name). Roommate Ash. I think she was just on a role.
A really cool dad ( I don't think there are fathers like that in the real world [oh I wish]); A mother who loves to "party"; Great friends; And owning your truth no matter how it hurts.
I truly did enjoy the story and how that others who read it do as well. Yes it was a young adult novel but it dealt with issues that many don't realise. No matter your age sometimes we are forced to grow up before out time. I really love a book that is able to bring aspects of reality into it. This way it is more real, it is something that not only entertained but makes you think about the real world.
Ashley is the daughter of a college football coach. For most of her life, she had a very rough life with her mother. When she was finally sent to live with her father, she discovered football as a way to bond and spend time with. Ashley could match or beat any guy on the field. Ashley shows up to father'spractice, and immediately catches the eye of one of the players Andy. Andy pursues her, with her father's encouragement, butAshley has a lot of insecurity because of her past, and because of their age difference-she's a senior in high school, and he's 21. This is a very sweet story, with insta-love, and overcoming insecurities. Andy is very reassuring and comforting to Ashley as they work through some difficult issues. There are some parts where it seems like it moves too quickly, it's unrealistic, which, overall is ok for the sweet read that it is. I didn't like some of the initial interactions between Ashley and her father, but as the story moves along, you can appreciate his support, and their banter back and forth. This is a quick, easy feel- good book about love (with a hint of football, but it's reallynot sport-focused, just an element in the lives of the characters) I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is one of the funniest books I've ever read. Seriously, I don't know when I've laughed out loud so many times in one book.
Here's the thing. Based on the reasoning and some implausible stuff that happens, I believe this book is a sheltered 7th grader's romantic fantasy of what will happen in high school (and some hazy "happily ever after" type stuff beyond). The writing is also unpracticed and full of amateur missteps.
But.
I cared about the characters. I got absorbed into their world. I wanted to know what happened to them. I read the whole thing and enjoyed it immensely. This book was pure fun.
That's the important stuff. Bad dialog and too many adverbs are way easier to fix than having stiff characters or a plot that doesn't move. Dear Amelia Whitmore (whoever you really are), please get yourself a good editor next time! Don't cheap out on this. It's an investment in your career. You're already a good storyteller. If you pick up a few key things about writing, you'll be unstoppable. I can't wait to read your next book.
This sweet romantic novel is about Ashley Hovey who has been living with her college football coach father for the past five years & she has become very knowledgeable about football but then she meets Andy Richmond the Captain of the college football team her dad coaches. She starts to second guess her self and misread his actions. Then her insecurities begin to surface. The story-line is very well written and developed. The character's are realistic with real emotion. You will fall in love with the character's as they are funny, romantic & just a lot of fun.The twist and turns will surprise you and keep you drawn in and wanting more. I highly recommend reading this story as you will not be disappointed. I was given an advance copy in exchange for a honest review.
A good romance. Ashley is seventeen and living with her father who is the coach of a college football team. Ashley's father picks her up from school and takes her to work with him where she meets all his players. Andy Richmond, the team captain, was right away taken with Ashley. But Ashley isn't sure a college guy would really want her. Then her mother insists Ashley come and live with her for awhile. Will the separation break her and Andy apart? * I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A very sweet well written romance between a high school senior and a college football player. The female lead (Ashley) is a tomboy type girl who is also not very confident in herself. When the male lead (Andy), meets Ashley, he instantly knows this is the girl for him. Andy stops at nothing to show her how much of a beautiful person she is both inside and out. Of course the book has its little hurdles, which will draw you into turning the pages faster to find out what happens. Guaranteed to make you cheer for the football star and his lady love.
"Kickoff for Love" by Amelia Whitmore. This is Ashley (Ash) Hovey and Andy Richmond's story.
Ashley is a 17 year old high school senior and Andy is a twenty-one year old college football player. This was a cute and sweet story but a little on the PG13 side.
