All that innocent little Marion wants is a life away from her family farm. When her kingdom goes to war against the animalistic Centaurs, she jumps at the chance to become a field nurse.
But the beastly Centaurs are more monster than men, and when Marion falls into enemy hands, she finds out exactly how they treat their captives...
If this is the start of a series, it is good It was very short though and seemed to end in the middle of the rising action. The story is engaging and begins almost sweetly, but then, it gets ugly, like a real war does, with soldiers doing awful things to captured women, in this case, just one, but they were prepared, so it leads you to think that this is SOP for that segment of the army. I did enjoy it, the base story begins deep enough, but then there's the element of non-consensual aggression, which is disturbing, but, again, men at war are sometimes awful people.
I have read the same exact story with M/M characters instead and find this was better. It was still on the boring side and have a abrupt ending, classic girl get kidnap by monsters.
