Navy SEAL Zach O’Connor was dumped while he was deployed on a high-risk mission, and the fallout from the breakup nearly cost him his career. Never again will Zach allow his feelings to make him lose sight of what really matters. Not even when his attraction to Piper Bertinelli makes him long for the very thing he’s vowed to avoid.
Violence and heartache have nearly shattered Dr. Piper Bertinelli’s life, and the last thing she needs is to be attracted to a military man scheduled to deploy. Though all Zach wants is a distraction instead of a commitment, Piper is unable to resist the charismatic Naval officer. He makes her feel safe, something more seductive to her than him being a SEAL.
When an overzealous policeman from Piper’s past comes after her, Zach has to make a walk away from the woman who's cracked the shell he built around his heart, or stick by her and possibly risk his career.
And there are other hurdles to the family who drove Piper away, but whose secrets may hold the key to understanding why her father was killed. And someone who’s a greater danger to Piper’s life than an angry cop. The man responsible for it all.

Another great compelling story that grips your heart and doesn’t let go until the final page. As the author has done in the past we not only got one couple's story but we got two. Zack “Doc” O'Connor and his sister Kathleen (whose had a previous story in Breaking Boundaries) This book continues Kathleen and Cal's story and Zack finally finds his one after years of guarding his heart after a bad breakup.
Zach is on medical leave after an accident during training. On his way home he accidentally hits a dog and rushes her to a local vet where they find out she is a retired military war dog. Its here he meets a woman who had him suddenly thinking more than just his usual one night stands.
Piper Bertinelli had just opened a vet clinic with 3 others. She is very guarded and leery of men. Her violent past and her history with a excessive detective who has harassed her for years has left her very guarded. The details of her past are slowly revealed as the story goes along with some shocking revelations and a suspenseful conclusion. Zack may not have been looking for a permanent relationship but he was like a gallant knight on protecting Piper and never wavering on being the man that was going to provide that.
Cal Crowes and Kathleen are doing well in their relationship but it hits a few bumps when Cal's father who he has been estranged from has heart attack and Cal is needed to help run the family construction business in Texas. Kathleen is still dealing with some PTSD issues left over after her kidnapping ordeal. The love these two have for each other is still strong and through their struggles they dont hesitate to support the other.
Both stories are full of emotions and each are fully supported by their SEAL team members and their families. I've enjoyed every story in this series. Of the original team members we still have Bowie's and of course Derrick – the man who betrayed them all. I am so waiting patiently (barely) for his story.
Breaking Out: Military Romantic Suspense: SEAL Team Heartbreakers Book 6 is by Teresa Reasor. I know this series will probably come to a halt; but I wish it would go on and on. It is a really good series and all the books are as good at the last one. Once again, I had to stay up and finish this book. Tissues too! Ensign Zachary O’Connor was upset with himself for falling over a rock on the parachute landing. Now he was x-rayed and on his way home, just severely bruised. He glimpsed a masked man coming and hit his brakes. He missed the man; but hit the dog chasing him. Zach quickly went to the dog’s side and discovered she was a military dog and was hurt badly. He picked her up and took her to the nearest Vet’s office. Piper Bertinelli was on duty and took care of the dog immediately. Although it was a long surgery, she managed to save the dog’s leg. However, she was in for a long recovery. When Zach learned her owner was in the hospital after having been severely beaten, he offered to keep Gracie for him. This would help him pass the long recovery time for his own hip and help out a fellow old soldier too. It would also keep him in touch with Piper. He was very attracted to her and she was attracted to him too. However, Piper came with baggage. Was Zach willing to take her baggage and all? Could he help her?
Very nice book, I really enjoyed the story of this book and the characters. I Loved Piper and how strong she was. Zach was a sweetheart, strong, and stubborn, all in a good way. The book also revisited Kathleen and Cal and delved into Cal's family issues mentioned in the previous book. This book was one of my favorite ones in the series. Highly recommended.
Wow. This was such an emotive and heartbreaking story. Piper and Zach’s journey is fraught with heartache but so much love. This book had everything to keep you hooked. I’d highly recommend this book and series.
Zach O'Connor pretty much had given up on having a serious relationship after he was dumped while being deployed. But then tragedy strikes which puts him in contact with Dr. Piper Bertinelli. He swore off serious relationships but she has him thinking differently about it. But she seems guarded and he wants to find out why. Dr. Piper Bertinelli has just started up a vet clinic with a couple other partners. They are just getting started and building up their clientele when their business is broken into, and then a war dog is brought in the same day with very serious injuries. The cops being around makes Piper very nervous, and Zach O'Connor has her wanting to be close to him but her past makes it hard for her to get close. Is Piper's past about to come back and bite her and what will Zach think if he finds out?
Phew mercy. I really enjoyed this read. I have loved this series since the very first book. Teresa Reasor has done a fantastic job! I can't wait for more. If you are interested in romance with some action as well, then this series is for you!
I fell in love with Zach and what a strong person Piper was. So glad they found each other. This was an intense story that kept me on edge. Hope to read more about this SEAL family.
SEAL Team Heartbreakers is the best SEAL series and one of the best romantic suspense series published! I love this team and I love Doc's story, Breaking Out. With characters that seem so real that they steal our hearts, each book of the series draws the reader into a unique world filled with people of character, strength, and heart.
While Doc, Zachary O'Connor, is on short term medical leave he hits a dog and rushes it to the nearest veterinary clinic. The vet who cares for the MWD is that woman that he does not want to meet, the one who could capture his heart. Determined to protect the dog and discover the mystery that led this well trained military dog to that road at that moment while discovering the beautiful veterinarian's secret should keep Doc well occupied during his force time off.
Not only was this story original in its idea I loved the complexity of the police department. Not wanting to give away any of the story Piper and Zach are a perfect match and i especially liked following up with Kathleen and Cal. To enjoy this book the most you only need to read the one before it where Kathleen and Cal become a couple. I really liked the complexity of the families in the book. Families are not perfect and often hold resentments that no longer serve a real purpose beyond creating distance. I think Teresa showed us how damaging old unresolved crap can be. I really enjoyed this book i love the series. Write on Teresa.
The storylines, about love, new and exciting and also a long-lived and slightly tarnished needing attention and polishing; about protection from good gone wrong and pure evil; and about love as in relationship and based on family. I could not stop reading. The story held together with a fine balance of all the characters and the fine character of the SEAL team as they serve and protect, wherever they are. This book is a keeper and hopefully will follow with a book that includes these characters in another book.
Brilliant story lines. Complicated characters, struggles found in every day life where family means a lot but is also difficult to navigate. Friendships, love and betrayal and so much more! Loved this book the most out of the series yet but I have a feeling Bowie's story will be a former when it comes along!!! Can't wait!!
I love this series where you get to see the characters again I missed reading that Langley and Trish, and Greenback and Selena wasn't there. Do read this series and meet all these wonderful people.
I love the characters and interesting story lines in these books. They are so much more than the usual SEAL romantic suspense stories. Once you start on the series you are hooked.
