I was going to rate it higher but then I finished the book bye 💀 (I specialize in overanalyzing the most random stories). The way this review shifts in tone cracks me up because I genuinely really liked the book when I started reading it 😭.
Anyways let's begin🤠:
I got some major flashbacks to the time I read the Ice Planet barbarian series 😭 Although I don't remember much from it (it's been years), there was a lot of similarities with the rescue aspect, and the whole 'there aren't many women left' concept. However, I liked how different the 'bonding' aspect was in this book.
I'll never say no to a sci-fi romance with a suspicious name 💀 so, of course, I enjoyed this (this was me before it went downhill). If you look past the smut, which there is A LOT of (🌚), there's a pretty interesting plot:
Nissa is a queen-to-be, who came from a human-like world, although not as modern or technical, on the brink of extinction due to an alien invasion. In contrast, Tam came from a much more developed, technological world, with a completely different social structure. I love how their (metaphorical) worlds collided and how they both learned about each other's respective homes.
Tam was one of my favourite heroes that I've read about in a while. He was just an absolute sweetheart. The respect that he had for Nissa was so special. Although their meeting was questionable, he truly considered her in every decision that he made.
And then there was Nissa 😭🫤, (aka where it all went wrong).
I really liked her in the beginning, but the more that I read, the more frustrated I became. I understood why she acted the way that she did, but that still didn't make it fun to read about. She just came across as shallow at times, with the way she treated Tam. She continuously kept him in the dark and never really made an effort to reassure him that they were in this together- because they were.
There was a lot of internal monologue from her side about not believing that their feelings for one another were genuine (fair enough at the beginning)- but my problem was that I just found it SO hypocritical how she never took the chance to actually test their bond.
It was a part of his religion in his world and she just disregarded it 😭. Now imagine the continuous disrespect throughout all those chapters. I would've loved to have seen more development of their relationship as opposed to the external plot, or rather for there to have been more of a balance.

**3.5** Oooh, this one was spicy fun!!
Imagine yourself floating along in your space pod surrounded by blue glue for 500 years. Nissa was almost dead when Tam found her. As cheesy as it sounds, the way he saved her was actually really sweet and really HOT. Tam has wanted a mate forever, but he also doesn’t want to force this bonding on her.
I enjoyed the world building in this story, and really liked the idea of bonding. I absolutely loved how they connect with memories. What a beautiful idea!
Tam is an utter sweetheart.
Ok, when I reached the end of the story, I realized that in order for them to form that perfect bond, maybe she did make the right decision…but I still didn’t like it.

I feel her fear, her anger, her desperation and guilt at abandoning her planet and her people. I know her language now, because I know her, all of her…I know her soul, her heart. And from the anguished look in her eyes, she now knows mine.I will say that didn’t enjoy Nissa’s character all that much. I get that her unique position sets her apart from other women, but I was SO ANNOYED at the painful decision she makes. I guess what pissed me off so much is that both the doctor and Tam had explained to her what the consequences could be and she was ok with that? She was ok that she might be

She presses her nose between the muscles of my chest, a woman, my woman, turning to me for comfort for the first time in my life - and I swear on every god in the universe, I will do anything for her.Sigh.

Nissa is the queen-designate of enemy-occupied Triannon, forced to gamble her life as one of 100 lottery-chosen Trianni refugees sent into space in life pods. She pins her hopes on the chance that she, and her people, will be found before their 500-year life support runs out so that they may save Triannon.
500 years later, Tam, an Argenti warrior pilot, finds a life pod floating in space. After consulting command, he brings it aboard to find an alien woman inside. His race, the Argenti, form incredibly close bonds between mates that allow them to feel each other's emotions and even heal horrible illnesses; and these bonds are for life--breaking one would be incredibly difficult and possibly deadly. The Argentis' planet, however, suffered a biological attack that killed nearly all of its women, leaving the vast majority of its men forever alone and unbonded, their only taste of love coming from the priestesses that teach them how to love a mate during their coming-of-age ceremony, a sad relic of a time when they actually had a chance of finding a life partner.
When Tam attempts to awaken Nissa, he discovers she's suffering from the blue tinge, an illness born of the cryogenic life support in which she was preserved, and she will soon die. He has no medic and no medicine to help her, and even if he could make it back to base before she died, it would be unlikely she could be saved. Her only chance is a bond. A bond with him.
This story follows two strangers brought together to save a life as they struggle through societal, political, and familial conflicts, with enough heat to make you bring those two box fans out of your storage closet and set them to full blast as you read! The worldbuilding is deliciously rich, detailed, and the writing is so beautiful I had to sometimes stop and simply admire a sentence. At about the 70% mark, something happened that I *had* to read all the way to the end in one sitting. I couldn't put it down!
The weak points were few... There was an action scene whose pace suffered from a lot of internalization. I found myself wishing to get on with the action and get the characters' thoughts on it later rather than during. But it was a very serious moment, not just combat, and that might just be my individual experience. There were also at least a dozen typographical errors in the text that should have been caught by the publisher's proofreader (some even with just spell check). One or two will happen no matter what sometimes, but not this many. Ellora's Cave: Hire better proofreaders and/or make sure they do their jobs. The story was so good I didn't let the errors affect my experience too much, but other customers might feel differently.
If you want a richly detailed science fiction world, deep characters, satisfying conflict, and hot, hot, HOT (*fans self*) romance, do yourself a favor and buy this book, follow this author, and keep your eye out for book #2... I know I will!!!

Nissa is the queen-designate of Triannon, a planet of farmers where her father rules as a peaceful and fair king. When the planet is invaded by slavers, and many of the civilians get killed by the brutal aliens, the government decides to send people out in space to bring help. There are only one hundred cryo-pods, most suitable for females. The royal family is destined to enter the pods along with lottery-chosen Trianni females. The pods will travel in space until one of them is rescued and can search for the rest.
Five hundred years later, Tam, an Argenti warrior discovers one of the pods in the vast space. There lays a woman, naked and stunning with her red hair spread around her. She is a masterpiece. Tam had come in peace with the idea that he would not found a mate, so when he sees Nissa, the woman in the pod, his hope starts to rise. The stake is really high.
The Argentis is a Tribe that forms very strong bonds between mates. It is sacred to them. Their souls connect somehow and the two become one. Such a bond cannot be broken and if attempted it may be fatal. On the other hand, the males’ serum can be a cure to the blue tinge, a disease that Nissa suffers due to the cryogenic life support she’s been for so long. It is also the way to bond.
The author has created a world that is so close to and yet so far away from the one we live in. The two main characters have human characteristics in general. Their bodies are human like. Their mating is human like. Their feelings and emotions are human like. They feel responsibility for their own people. They feel love and fondness. They care about their loved one’s well being. They sacrifice for what they believe and for their loved ones.
One of the interesting parts of the book is how a world has evolved in half a millennium of slavery. How much of the oppressor has been absorbed by the enslaved. What a person expects to find in a place loved so much after all these years and how much that same place can be called home again.
“The Bonding” is the first book in the “Tribe Warrior” series. It is a very promising start to the series and an introduction to this whole new world. The second book is already out and awaits to be read! It does have a few editing errors, some spelling or minor grammatical flaws, but they don’t affect the reading process.

This sci-fi👽 erotica novel is one of the best I have ever read! I couldn't put it down!
It's so completely different from most of the other sci-fi👽 romances💘 I have read.
The story is very different because Captain Pilot Tam Essinger,🐺🍌🌋💪🔪🔫 a warrior of the Agentus Tribe, is a reluctant mate👰 for Nissa, the princess👸 of the planet🌍 Triannon. When her planet is attacked, 100 cryo escape pods are launched into space to save what is left of their population. The 👑King and Queen, Nissa's parents, are in one large pod and her husband to be is in another, and The other 98 contain females, of which she is one.
Tam spots her pod while traveling through Vestige space. The Vestige are their only enemy. He thinks it's a Vestige trick at first but soon realizes that a beautiful woman💋 is inside in suspended animation. She has been in Space for almost 500 years!
The Argenti are a male dominated society of warriors🔪🔫, made so by selective breeding for males, then realizing too late the ratio of females💋 had fallen too low to sustain the population.
Females💋 are treasured and exalted and most Argenti will never know one.
Tam🐺🍌🌋💪🔪🔫 thaws her out but she has blue tinge, or cryo sickness and is going to die💀. The only thing that will save her is his serum🍌🌋, and once he gives🍌🌋 her that, they are mated for life. He doesn't want to tie her to him The rest of her life. He doesn't think he deserves her, but she will die💀 without him.
The sheltered 500 year old princess👸, and the big bad crude and naaasssty warrior stud🐺🍌🌋💪🔪🔫, are mated for life!

Tam and Nissa's worlds are completely different. One is based on warrior leadership, the other is more agrarian. Nissa's medical needs surpasses anything she has ever known when she is awoken after 500 years drifting in space. The cure is a chemical/mystical mix that changes the physiology of both partners. But will this medical miracle become a weight she cannot bear? Will her sense of duty to a people from long ago tear apart her bond with Tam?

A Sci-Fi Erotica novel, that will keep you interested until the last page. The story starts out with Nissa, “queen-designate” of the planet Triannon. Nissa’s planet is being attacked; people are being slaughtered or turned into slaves. Nissa’s father decides to send 100 of their people into space in hopes of finding help. Tam is a warrior for his planet Argentus, he finds Nissa’s pod while on a lone mission. Tam saves Nissa from a deadly disease by giving her his serum (bonding).
Nissa wants to find her people and go back to Triannon in hopes of saving the planet; however, the bond with Tam is very strong. Nissa and Tam cannot be away from each other for more than a few hours without making each other sick. Tam can feel how much Nissa needs to be with her people, so he is willing to give her up just to make sure she is happy. Can Nissa and Tam handle being apart or will the bond be too strong for them?
The author, Imogen Keeper definitely made a very inventive story of erotic romance. I loved the character of Tam, he is strong, intelligent, sweet, sexy and of course book boyfriend material. Nissa’s character was irritating to me, because she was the stereotypical princess; she refused to believe that she actually had a connection with Tam. All Nissa seemed to care about was getting home to her planet. The book kept me intrigued the whole time, however, I did end up skipping through some of the adult scenes due to so much sex in the book. I love erotica as much as the next person, but sometimes too much sex takes away from the story.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I couldn’t give the book 5 stars due to some grammatical errors throughout the book. Also, the adult scenes started to almost take over the story. I wouldn’t give this book below 4 stars because it is written very well; the story line is very unique and intriguing. Damn this is one steamy story. I didn't know what to expect but this story was beyond it. It contains violence a lot of steamy scenes and a great romance. Expect your feelings to jump all over while reading it. Sometimes you will love the two main characters and other times you will want to smack them both.
Nissa is to be queen one day and her betrothed was decided through a competition. But her planet is attacked by a violent race that will kill either kill or enslave them. To save their race 100 pods sent out into space, containing 98 women and the king and her betrothed. But when she is found by another she race everything changes. Including who she will bond/mate to.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

I loved this book. Alien erotica at its finest. Not only were there steamy scenes aplenty, but the storyline was imaginative and unique. The descriptions were detailed and believable. On to the next book in the series.

Okay! I’m advocating right now! If you haven’t read this book go read it! I nearly broke in half about half way through but damn was that ever a good story!
The spice was 100% there and it was wonderful but the spice was nothing compared to the excellent plot! Like I want to read the story all over again for the first time good!
This is only like my third or fourth alien novel but my first Genesis Keys novel and it was so darn good! The idea of the “serum” might be a trigger for some but I just love a good story and darn if this wasn’t.
Walk your booty to a computer and buy this book because it’s so good and you won’t regret it!

DNF at 60%. It’s an ok book but it just couldn’t hold my interest. And at the place where I stopped, the story was going to dramatown that I don’t have time for.
Nissa is ejected out into space with about 100 others from her planet and isn’t found for 500 years. She is saved by Tam’s manic serum (cum) and gets into a binding red haze with him.
But, she constantly doubts their connection and thinks it is chemically based and still is pulled to help her people and be their Queen AFTER 500 YEARS.
Nope- don’t you be hurting that sweet, committed, loving man! Ending it before I have to read about her stupidity.

Intense from the start!
Intense from the beginning. I really enjoyed this book. The plot line is interesting and holds your attention. The idea of bonding is an different take on things. It is amusing in some ways. The male must be able to smell the female, but the female needs his cum or "serum".
Plan on reading the rest to see what happens with the different races.

This is an interesting story with strong characters in Tam and Nissa. The author does a great job developing the story and had me glued to the pages with all the danger as well as the sizzling sex scenes and growing love. It's well written,moves quickly and smoothly and is an entertaining read.

I have never read any of Imogen Keeper's books and after reading this book, she became my new best author. I love that it was in outer space and the sex was just hot hot hot. I did find a few mistakes but over all I loved it . I can't wait to read the next book.

I won't lie, I did have some issues with the book- but I still liked it. My overall issue was that it kind of bounced back and forth between being really good, and being somewhat stereotypical. There is a lot of sex, and while that does not bother me, I felt that when the plot was focused on more and the sex was part of the story, it was really good.
I'm on the fence about trying the next book since it's not the same characters that this book focuses on, and I did get attached to the main characters. This book is a roller coaster of a book, that will take you on quite a ride emotionally. I had some trouble in the beginning, and it's amazing that despite my feelings when I started reading the book, it had me crying at the end. I don't cry very often when I read, so that in itself is a feat.
I will keep this author on my watch list though!

In reading The Bonding, by Imogen Keeper, I realized Imogen Keeper is very good at writing erotic fiction! The story starts out with Nissa running for her life on her home planet, and we see her and many of her people get into pods and jet to safety as they try to avoid the aliens bent on destroying their way of life.
Because Nissa is the “queen-designate,” she is one of the people put in the pods, as well as her parents, the king and queen. The rest were basically given their pods through a lottery system, but it was almost entirely women, due to the size of the pods.
We know most of this from the blurb on Amazon about the book, but what we don’t know is what happens after all this, and how long Nissa is in her pod before she is rescued by Tam. Nissa is brought back to life by Tam, a warrior who comes from a planet where most of their females died. Seeing a woman in the flesh, the very naked flesh, quickly gets his blood pumping and his mind racing. Tam wants the chance to bond with her, but her illness, the “blue tinge,” sets things in motion more quickly than he would like.
Before even being able to speak each other’s language, the two are forced to “bond,” and once this takes place, Nissa struggles with whether she would really be attracted to Tam and love him without the bond in place. She desires to have a chance to find out whether their love is real, and Tam spends a lot of time trying to keep her from being too worried about the question. He constantly distracts her with various interesting and well-described sexual encounters that cause me to put this warning out there: Have a cold beverage handy to slake your thirst, because if you like erotic romance, you’re going to need something to cool you down while you read this one!
The story of what happens after Nissa’s people are found is mostly a back story to the sex in the book, but still, I found myself wanting to know how things turned out. Did they go back to her planet and were her people still there? If they were there, were they changed, and did they even want to have anything to do with their former royal family? The amount of time we find out has passed since Nissa and her people went into the pods is quite a bit longer than I expected, and it did realistically cause Nissa to be in a hurry to get to the rest of the pods.
Tam and Nissa’s relationship is based on sex. We know that from the beginning, but they also have a need for each other besides the sex. They have a bond that is stronger than a normal human couple who have had sex. This bond intensifies everything in their lives, and it makes things very difficult for both of them when Nissa decides what she must do for her remaining people.
I found the concept of the bonding to be unique and interesting and at first, very thrilling and steamy. However, as the story continued on, it seemed to be a bit contrived and it got a little old when Nissa couldn’t go more than a couple of hours without Tam’s “serum.” There were also a few descriptions in the sex scenes that were what I labeled “gross,” as it was just a little too far with some descriptions, pushing it from erotic to “gross, I don’t want to imagine that.”
As the story continued on, I found a few grammatical errors, such as using the word “his” instead of “he,” or capitalizing a word in the middle of a sentence, but not so many that they bothered me.
I wanted to give this book a perfect rating, and I would have until the small errors started turning up. It was just enough that with a good conscience, I couldn’t give it a perfect rating. I rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars. I didn’t give it 5 stars, simply because of the grammatical and editing mistakes. I didn’t give it 3 stars because it was very well-written and engaging. I was drawn to read the book in stolen moments, and the erotic descriptions were hot and steamy, just the way they should be.
I think anyone that enjoys erotic romances would like this book, and I think it would be interesting to read the other books in the series. Nissa was set to be queen, but aliens took over her planet killing and enslaving most of her people leaving them no choice but to evacuate in hopes of finding help. She'd expected to be found much sooner than the almost 500 years it took. Her planet was not anything like it was when she'd left and neither were her people, but that didn't stop her from wanting to help them.
Tam was a warrior from a place where illness took almost all of their females so when he finds one floating in a pod in space he's mesmerized. When he's forced to bond with her in order to save her life he's torn between not being able to give her a choice and being overly enthusiastic at the possibility that he'll have a mate.
It's been a long time since I had to force myself to finish a book, but I kept waiting for something to make me change my mind about the story. First, the bonding is a completely odd thing based on Tam's semen. It basically addicts Nissa to it and therefore they have to "bond" every few hours, which gets very old very fast. Second, the drinks are coffee and vodka spelled backwards (eeffoc and akdov) and truthfully I may not have even noticed if it wasn't for the fact that every time either is used it's written in italic. And lastly, there was finally a little bit of suspense toward the end, but when it switches to Tam's POV it gave it all away and ending any hope of a big ta-da kind of finish.

Well Written, But Not For Me.
Nissa, queen-designate, flees her home world of Trian, hoping to find help for a people being invaded and slaughtered. Tam, an Argenti warrior of the Tribe, finds her adrift in space. A complication from cryo-sleep forces Tam into an agonizing moral choice: let her die, or bind her to him in a ritual she is unable to agree to.
Time has not been kind. Instead of a few years in space, Nissa and the other 99 refugees have been adrift for almost 500. The people they left behind on their once idyllic world have become completely unrecognizable as her species. Enslaved and tormented, they have become copies of the vicious Vestige. But Nissa, pressured heavily by her father the king, still feels duty-bound to serve them as their queen. This is a problem. She is mated to Tam in a biologically dependent union. How much of her feelings are real, and what is chemically induced? By the time she figures it out, will it be too late?
I, personally, had a problem with the addictive nature of the bonding. And with the fact that the frequency of the “fix” was well known and obvious to others. Tam shows little concern for her modesty or desire for privacy, instead acting like a smug drug pusher.
This is, of course, my opinion. Yours may be different. I still recommend this book for it’s story line and premise.

I received an Advance Reader Copy for The Bonding (Book 1 in the Tribe Warrior Series) written by Imogen Keeper and voluntarily reviewed this book. This is my first read from this author, and I found the story to be engaging! Both Tam and Nissa were from two very different planets, as well as species (although compatible), had different roles and expectations in life, and even time periods! Their mating was steamy and well written, with good character development, and the plight of both planets were inventive. Enjoyed the secondary character Ajax as well, and I look forward to his story in Book 2!

This was a great big DNF for me. The story itself was meh...guy has to have sex with girl so he can save her with his magic semen. But more than that it seemed like it was written from the pov of both characters at the same time. I didn't know who was thinking what from sentence to sentence. This got old fast so I decided to put it aside.

Triannon is a planet under siege by the Vestige. Many of the Trianni people have been killed in the process, and many are hiding in the forrest. The king and his advisors have decided that 100 of the remaining females (chosen by lottery) will be placed into cryo pods and jettisoned into space. The hope is that they will be recovered and able to get help for their beleaguered planet. Nissa, as the daughter of the king, and the Queen Presumptive is put into one of these pods. She is rescued by Tam, an Argentus warrior on a routine mission. The problem is that she’s dying from some type of sickness related to being in the pod for so long . . . 500 years! The only way to save her is to go through the bonding process. The problem is that it will bond them together for life and given the communication issues they’re having, Tam feels uncomfortable with it, since she can’t really consent. But he doesn’t want to lose her, so he does it. Nissa is torn between her duty to her people, the Trianni that remain, and her bonded mate that she has come to love. Or has she? Is it all just a chemical addiction?
I did really like the book, for the most part. Unfortunately, Nissa took a turn and I just couldn’t like her after that. It kinda ruined the book for me. Which is too bad because I really loved the character of Tam. The author did an excellent job of world building and character building. Nissa just reminded me too much of “Joselyn” in Hollen the Souless . . . A noble lady who cannot see things for what they are and appreciate what she has in front of her all because of “duty.” But that duty is worn like their cross to bear and I couldn’t stand to read her trying to reason with Tam over it. The book had echoes of an omegaverse type story - the bonding process is basically 4 days of lust induced sex, and the bonded pair are, for lack of a better description, addicted to each other. Nissa is queen-designate to planet Triannon when an alien species, The Vestige, invades and enslaves their people. It becomes apparent that her entire race may be at risk when she witnesses thousands of her people being massacred in the town square. To protect the royal family and their race, a lottery is held where 96 young women will be chosen to escape in cryo-pods along with Nissa, her parents and her betrothed king-designate.
An Argenti Warrier, Tam, comes across a cryo-pod floating alone in space. Upon its retrieval, Tam discovers it contains a young woman and he gets both super excited and nervous. See, about 20 some years ago The Vestige released a plague on Tam’s planet that killed all but 12% of their female population and this is the first woman he’s seen in fifteen years.

The worlds that are created by the author are vividly detailed and easily imagined. The entire universe is well thought out and imaginative. Although, some words of the alien languages are actually English words spelled backwards. IE eeffoc and akdov.
The bonding is… intense. To be blunt, it’s a lot of sex. A lot of desperate sex. Because once they mate, Nissa needs Tam’s serum every three hours or so else she’ll become unbearably ill. It goes a bit far when Nissa needs Tam’s serum because he’s not around and she starts drinking it from vials and carrying it around in her pocket.
If you want sci-fi and you want erotica, this fits the bill perfectly.

I loved The Bonding from the first word all the way to the last word. It's got a lot of great Scifi techy stuff that made me feel like I was in space with the characters. The cover promised a love story, and it delivered.
I don't usually read Scifi because it's not written the way I like. The Bonding may have just changed my mind. I enjoyed the way Imogen Keep introduced the Scifi aspects with just enough but not too much.
The characters were well rounded and described with enough detail to give me a good idea of what they look like. Tam is a big, strong space warrior and when he finds Nissa the choice is not so simple for him. Rescue her and save her life by having sex with her, or let her die.
I thought the way Imogen worked the sex into the story was wonderful. Nice and hot.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes erotica, romance, and Scifi.

The bonding
I love this book! The story line and plot was amazing. I mean beyond amazing. When I started reading this, I honestly didn't expect much from the bonding, as they say in the story, because I honestly didn't quite understand what was happening. Along the way, it started to get somewhat intense cause of all the very intense , hot sex that was happening throughout the book. I love how Tam and Nissa began to fall in love with each other along the way, but the way they doubted each others feelings was saddening. I absolutely loved the ending! This took me 2 days to read so I couldn't stop it look away from it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves sci-fi/romance/erotic fiction. Buy this book and if you like it buy book #2.
