Lieutenant Harsker and his elite Commandos are given no respite as they are sent behind enemy lines to help the Canadians on the ill fated attack at Dieppe. After escaping, by the skin of their teeth, they are sent to North Africa to destroy valuable equipment which has fallen into the enemy's hands. A fast moving novel the action moves from Europe to Africa and from sea to land.

About the author

I was born in 1950 in Lancashire and attended a boy’s grammar school. After qualifying as an English and Drama teacher in 1972, I worked in the North East of England for the next 35 years. During that time I did write, mainly plays, pantos and musicals for the students at the three schools in which I worked.

When I stopped teaching I set up my own consultancy firm and worked as an adviser in schools and colleges in the North East of England. The new Conservative Government ended that avenue of work and in 2010 I found that I had time on my hands; having started work at the age of 15 I found the lack of work not to my liking and used the time to research the Roman invasion of Britain and begin to create a novel. The result was The Sword of Cartimandua.

My decision to begin writing was one of the best I have ever taken.

Constant Adventure

Well written and full of adventure. I don't quite agree with the author's belief that the American Sherman tank was equal or better than the German tanks of the time. The German Panzer though more complicated was a more powerful and sturdier weapon platform. The greatest advantage of the Sherman was that it was cheaper and able to be mass produced in larger quantities.

Wow! That was fun! Non stop excitement. I was actually just fortunate in purchasing this book. I'm now into my 2nd "King Tiger".

Great detail... from sea to land... Hold on to your helmet, hat or beret... whatever.

I look forward to reading about the Napoleonic series...

Dieppe

This book and its story didn’t disappoint, full on action on almost every page. Most enjoyable read in a grown up boys own sort of way which as an 85yr old I thoroughly enjoyed.
Can’t get enough of these stories Mr Hosker, onto the next one!

Can't put them down!

I am astounded to realize how much combat these men carried out. They absorbed such high casualties yet volunteers were eager to replace them.

Good read

This a great followup to the first 4 and I like the references to all the British Isles and there little nuances meaning language and customs. I get a kick out he constant praise for gum soled shoes!

Enjoying this series

I am enjoying the Griff Hosker series. The characters are so relatable that you can't help root for them and enjoy the read.
Can't wait for the next one.
