Welcome to the private BDSM Island of Nox Oasis! This book just floored me with how well it was written. The characters are very well developed and the story is just awesome. Imagine a place where any kinky desire can be fulfilled and you'll understand what Nox Oasis is. Simeon Harvey is the owner and for the opening, he brings in George and his wife Faye. They are old friends and it seems George has been having some trouble with Faye. She isn't the submissive she used to be and together George and Simeon are going to do their best to correct that. Off to the side, we have a little story going that involves Hazel and Dain. I can already tell I'm going to really like this couple. Hazel is new to BDSM and hasn't seen much and Dain wants to show it all to her. Simeon doesn't like this and tells Dain to leave Hazel alone but will he listen to him? I can't wait for book 2 because I want to see more of all of these characters.
What a fantastic start to a new book series. When one man, Sir Simeon, decided to create an adult playground for those who wanted an exclusive and vetted outlet for whatever kink they desired, he created Nox Oasis. Now it is opening, they are bringing in those who are investors and a few very good friends to entice to come and be part of the staff. The story is well told, attention to detail as the various locations are described, and with a great cast of characters.
The plot of this story is a journey for like minded people to live freely and explore in this exclusive BDSM retreat on a private island off the coast of Australia. Sir Simeon is the grand master of his fantasy kingdom, bringing a married couple, George, and Faye, having play time with them and also offering them both positions. The square peg in this maze is Hazel Jenkins, head of reception, who is rather vanilla, never having explored beyond reading and observing. Bring in Simeon’s godson, Dain Wilcott, and offering him the position as PA, but telling him Hazel is completely off-limits. For Faye and George, she can reconnect with her Master, reconnect with her inner submissive, and her inner masochist. The story mainly focuses on Simeon, Faye and George, and the new budding relationship with Hazel and Dain. The scenes are explicit and include a ménage à trios, various spankings, breath-play, and different proclivities. I look forward to the next book in this series.
First off let me say that it took me an extra day to read this story because it was just too hot to handle in the little time I have for reading before leaving for work in the morning. This book is best savored in the evening after you are comfy.
This story is the first in a new series and is often the case there is a certain amount of time building the world for the reading yet it is still an intriguing story as we get to meet what will undoubtedly ending up making up the core of the characters in this story.
We have Simeon of course who is the "ring-master" of this drama. He is single and is living his retirement dream of being the host to his own kinky fantasy island.
There is George and Faye who are an established D-s couple but as of late have been having a rocky go of it. We get to know them and see that their struggle is real but not without hope.
There are a variety of investors who we are given sneak peaks at that are enough to make you desire to hear more of their story. There are also lots of areas on the island that we are only given quick little tour stop at that can get the brain thinking about all the fun that might be in any one of these many areas.
Finally we are introduced to Hazel an completely inexperience young lady who came for a job and a bit of curiosity. And Dian the godson and PA of Simeon. He has experience but perhaps at bit more in his past as well.
I can't wait to see the next installment in this series and this was such a wonderful start.
Wow, did I ever love this book! An Amusement Park for kinksters on a private island off the coast of Australia is an amazing fantasy. The owner is Sir Simeon who resides on the top floor of the Twisted Tower building. His opening is attended by investors and many kinksters well known to him along with friends, George and Faye, a married couple that is experiencing problems with life, work and marriage. In need of top notch help to work the resort and make it all run smoothly, he has hired a new receptionist and brought in his godson, Dain to take some of the pressure off Hazel the receptionist that was also filling in as Sir Simeon's PA. Dain is now the PA and was warned off of giving attention to Hazel as she is an excellent worker and Simeon did not want to lose her. Dain is a notorious womanizer, love'm and leave'm type. Of course there is a strong attraction between Dain and Hazel. There is also the couple that is struggling after George lost work and his wife Faye picked up the slack by providing for the house- hold. Stress and tension is killing their D/s relationship as Faye is too tired after working so hard and finds it hard to submit to her husband when she isn't working. George is also struggling with his dominant/masculinity with being a "kept man." There is a lot of interesting distractions at the BDSM resort, and new discoveries to be had by just about everyone in attendance. I thouroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more about this Adult Playground and all who attend it's attractions.
Faye's thought as she see the island for the first time, "Sir Simeon Harvey took a private Island and made it look more like a twenty-first century incarnation of Alcatraz then a private luxury retreat. She find out how right she is along the way. Sir Simeon's life long dream finally comes to a fruition, an amusement park or playground for BDSM kinksters on a private island off the coast of Australia and husband and wife George and Faye, dear friends of Simeon's are invited to attend the open of the retreat. Faye and George have been having problems in their marriage and between Simeon and George they are going to come to the bottom the problem starting with Faye's bottom. Hazel Jenkins is hired as head receptionist without any scene experience but ends up filling in as Simeon's PA until another permanent PA is hired. Hazel's first experience into BDSM comes when Simeon asks her to witness Faye getting a spanking for her birthday. Simeon ends up hiring his godson, Dain as his new PA and the fireworks start between Dain and Hazel. I can't wait to read the second book in this series to see what happens next on the island. I got so into the story that I wished that I could actually go to the island. Great book that I couldn't put down. Tabitha Black hit a home run with this book. Note: Received a copy from publisher for my honest review.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Every once and awhile it is such fun to imagine a place where your fantasies can be completely indulged, without judgement or negative consequences. Add to that luxurious surroundings, a private island, beautiful people, and you have Nox Oasis. It isn't a new concept for contemporary erotic fiction, but Restraint by Tabitha Black is creative, well written, and loads of fun to read if you're in the mood for fantasy and don't mind a few eye rolls.
My one complaint is rather minor I suppose, but I had trouble understanding Faye's attitude at the beginning of the story. She went from anger to eager excitement and back again so quickly I was sure there must be something missing. It's difficult for me to picture her being a very good therapist based on what I've read so far.
Despite that quibble, I enjoyed the various characters, particularly Hazel who I can easily empathize with, and I enjoyed the well described location. This is the first book in the series, but ends on a pretty satisfying happy for now. I look forward to finding out what happens when Sir Simeon..... well, it should be quite the explosion.
The gift of a talented author is the ability to transport the reader from their armchair, sofa, bedroom or wherever they are to the time and place the book is happening. A truly gifted writer will so spellbound her audience they will not notice they have moved, that time has changed and things are happening around them that seem very real and lifelike. I believe Ms. Tabitha Black is one such gifted writer. The book Restraint involves a handful of characters that she expertly juggles around her stage. Never losing track or skipping a beat the flow continues throughout the whole story. It is an awesome story of an adult BDSM playground / amusement park that I so wish I could go to myself! It is an outstanding work of literary genius. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading about the D/s lifestyle, power play, and lots of hot scenes of sexy spanking and hotter sex! Get comfortable and have a cooling glass of water close to hand! lol Thank you very much Ms.Black more of the same please!
This was a fantastic book. A Dom builds an exclusive BDSM island of the coarse of Australia and has people clamering to join? It has something for everyone and the first two are good friends who have been scrabbling with each other. The Dom strengthens them out and makes them an offer that sounds almost too goo to be too, but they except. The new head receptainist is a sweet, naive young lady who has feelings for the Dom godson, who was hired to be a personal assistance. Then the guests arrive and the fun begins. No spoilers! Everything fall into place and there are many outstanding stories which are truely unique. You will have to read the book to find the answers to these questions. This is a heart thumping page turning book which kept me engaged. I will be on pins and needles until book two. This book was given to me by the publisher for an honest review and the thoughts and opinions are mine.
Well done, Tabitha! The characters are well described; interesting; My favorite is Hazel; shy, demure, inexperienced, but who begins to follow her instincts, despite the orders her employer has given his godson, Dain, to stay away from her. I love Faye, who is mischievous, kind-hearted, and has a true desire to be submissive once again. I adore how the relationship with her husband, George, begins to be renewed, with the help of Sir Simeon, after several months in which ‘life got in the way’. I also do like the way that each of the characters’ viewpoints are expressed, at different times. Sir Simeon grew on me, turning out to be a kind-hearted and sweet man, in the end, who looks out carefully for his employees. Can be read as standalone, but I did find myself with a question or two at the end; I’m hoping they will be answered in the next book. I’m looking forward to the rest of the books in the series. I received this for an ARC review, and the review here is indeed my own.
I cannot wait for Book Two! The author did an amazing job giving readers a view of BDSM from experienced kinksters to the curious novice.
Sir Simeon develops a private BDSM island paradise. He invites George and Faye a couple struggling with every day issues to take on the roles of Manager and therapist. His Godson Dain steps in as his PA. Hazel is a sweet, inexperienced but curious receptionist who starts falling for Dain. The only rule Sir Simeon has laid down for Hazel and Dain is that they are not to be together.
There is a fair amount of kink but presented in a way that leaves you wanting more. The author details a wide variety of fetishes from leash and collar training, “littles”, spanking and a nice balance of D/s. The setting is erotic, the descriptions of the play rooms leave me wanting more and I would love a few days on the island!
(Book received from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.)
This is a well written, interesting story set in a new, very fancy BDSM resort. There are several key people who interact with each other. George and Faye, a married couple who have been having problems, but find new love for each other and a renewed relationship at the resort. Sir Simeon, the founder and an experienced dominant – and Dain, his godson and assistant – also a dom, who falls in lust with Hazel, the receptionist – a girl who has had no experience with spanking or the other activities that take place at the resort, but gradually realizes she wants it. The story has a number of well written BDSM scenes and although it is the first part of a series, it closes enough loops so that it isn’t a cliff hanger.
What do innocent and experienced submissive women have in common? Sir Simeon and Nox Oasis - the BDSM resort! There are several characters with their own story lines in this first book of the His Empire series. Each encounter sizzles on the page (or e-reader screen) as Sir Simeon helps the long term D/s couple work to rekindle the spark and slowly shows the curious newbie her fantasies can become real. Add his godson the Dom, kinky investors, and naughty employees, and the scenes can melt the book in your hands! Fair warning - this is book 1 and not standalone, though thoroughly hot anyway. Can't wait for the next book! (I was provided an ARC copy by this publisher for an honest review.)
This book reminded me a lot of the Castle Series. I was totally caught up in the idea of a resort that is set up like an amusement park for those who wish to explore their desires in a safe, consensual manner. The characters were well rounded. I was only disappointed that the story ended so quickly and I can't wait to read installment number two. Tabitha Black has done a great job in setting the stage and the characters for sequel. I could see the next story taking many paths as she explores the lives of the characters she introduced in this story. Such as George and Faye as they start their new jobs on the island and Hazel and Dain, as they continue their illicit affair.
I was given an ARC copy by the publisher for an honest review. I really wish this were NON Fiction! I would love to go to this resort! This is a great book one of a series. Sometimes the first book in a series has too much context and not enough intrigue and action. This story is engaging, characters are real, relationships feel real and the sex is steamy. I enjoyed that my boundaries got pushed a bit as the setting of the bdsm scenes was presented as safe, sane, consensual. I will be purchasing the next book in the series!
I found this novel so unique that it takes place on an island bdsm resort. The hotel is top notch in every way. The amusement park had something for everybody . i found that this novel was hard to put down. I thought it was great when the owner Simeon hired Faye and her husband. A young woman Hazel was starting a relationship with Rain his godson even though her boss didn't want them to be involved. I look forward to reading the next edition.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Noo, I wasn't ready for the book to end!! Oh, it's going to take every bit of patience I own to be able to wait for book two! A brilliant beginning to a wonderful new series! I enjoyed every single minute of it. Whew, so hot and steamy with the beginning of, what I hope will be, a lovely romance. And the entire story took place on a fantasy island for adults, which I so wish was real! So very well done!
This story follows several people as they work at a new BDSM resort. The characters are well written, as are the several scenes that described. This is the first book of a new series, and I want to know what is going to happen in the next book, but I wouldn't say it ended in a cliffhanger. There is definitely not closure for anyone though. I really enjoy Tabitha Black's work and this book in not an exception. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book from ARC for an unbiased review. That said, this is the start of what I hope is a new series from Ms. Black.
George and Faye are the perfect sadist/masochist couple who need to rekindle their relationship. This new resort is a great place to start. And Dain and Hazel make a nice new "couple" but mustn't get caught or there could be trouble in paradise. Wonder what Sir Simeon will get up to now that his resort is open? Anxiously awaiting the next in this series.
What an original premise! There are a lot of books set in & around BDSM clubs but I've never read of a BDSM resort before! I found this a well written story with interesting characters. Even though it's very obviously a lead in to a series, this is stand alone & while it didn't exactly tie everything up I'm not left feeling ripped off by the ending. Would gladly continue reading this series!
This book is a great introduction to a new BDSM resort encompassing an island off the coast of Australia. The resort is amazing and along with it comes a wonderful set of characters that make up the key staff. The characters are deep, the scenes hot, and the plot fun and interesting. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next in what I hope will be a long series.
This is a REAL BDSM novel rather than those wimpy slap-and-tickle ones touted to be one. And it's two romance stories in one! I'd give it seven stars if I could.
Recently, I've ranted in a few reviews that many writers of erotic romance think that adding a little slap-and-tickle qualifies their novels as dark and BDSM... NOT! The entire realm of kink is so much more complicated than that, I have said, but no one has even tried to do it right.
But Ms. Tabitha Black certainly has. She has certainly done her research well, and it shows.
Imagine an entire island devoted to the open practice of any kind of kink known without anyone casting judgment upon its guests. As we Alaskans are well-known to say: "If the adults are consenting, stay off my land and leave us the hell alone!" And that's was Sir Simeon Harvey, kink extraordinaire, has done by creating Nox Oasis Resort which makes Fantasy Island laughable. Sure, we readers get a bird's eye view of the goings-on of this Land of Prod, but can we not help but to keep watching? That's what happens to Hazel, Sir Simeon's head receptionist, who isn't sure what she wants, but her boss doesn't want her to have anything to do with his godson, Dain, who is his personal assistant who is about as absorbed into the world of kink as he is. Why? Business, of course. It's hard to find a really good head receptionist who works hard and isn't lazy or distracted by what's going on around her while on company time. But Dain doesn't like this highly unusual restriction, and he sees something very different in Hazel that he hasn't seen in any woman he's been involved in as he has the reputation of use 'em then lose 'em.
I was surprised on how well-written this book was that I was completely involved in the story line and wasn't trying to edit it. However, I did catch a few little niggling errors. What Dain's original name Dean? I noticed a few slip-ups here and there, but considering the level of professionalism given to this book, I know there was a very good editor involved, or the writer is just that good. Kudos to you, Madam Tabitha!
I really got into these characters, and Tabitha managed to hold my attention around not just two, but FIVE of them! This is hard to do, and I don't see this done much at all nowadays. That impressed me. I have already bought Book 2 and will read it as soon as I finish this review because I can't wait to see what happens when Sir Simeon finds out about Dain's deliberate disobedience to the ONLY don't in his personal employee handbook – stay away from Hazel the Innocent!
Kink is more than just fun and games. It is a lifestyle – healthy to the psyche considering how much of a beating it gets in everyday life with just everyday shit from the office. People turn to much more dangerous means of dealing with that kind of stress such as drugs, alcohol, unprotected or nonconsensual sex. Kink, on the other hand, can only work when there is complete trust and complete honesty between two consenting adults. Probably the healthiest means of dealing with everyday stress when it comes to the more extreme measures.
So, writers, this is what I'm talking about what it means to REALLY write BDSM. It's all about psychology, trust... and really love. Love is shown in many different ways, and this is only just one of them. Shame that it's looked upon as being filthy by those who think they are holier than thou. But they are the ones with the problems, not with those practicing safe kink.
So for those who are curious, read this book. This explains the whys and wherefores of kink and why it'll always be out there, hiding from those who don't understand its true value but would rather call it a "perversion against God". My personal definition of "perversion" is lying, cheating, beating without consent, psychological and physical abuse, nonconsensual underage rape… You know, all those horrible things done that are hidden behind the smiles of those who promote the wholesomeness of "family values".
Am I preaching? You bet I am! It's about time the truth gets out there. This book isn't the end-all manual. But it does give the curious permission to explore the possibilities. We are complex creatures with even more complex psyches. Time to be honest with ourselves. I don't want to hear any whiners about how terrible the alleged violence being depicted. If you can't deal with it, read another book!
The length is that of a novel – a wonderful relief for a change. I like the changes of POV to get to know the cast of characters. I really want to care about them, and I am not at all put off by the kink scenes. Anyone who knows how to manipulate a human mind can attest to how the use of pain and pleasure is the quickest way to do so. Whether you like it or not, our brains are wired that way. Check out the better research. I'm just glad Tabitha is sticking to the rules and did a wonderful job in opening a brand new world for us who are curious about kink.
I didn't run into technical flaws. I would have LOVED to have seen some age play. The medical kink... Gah! I know what I can do with a suture staple gun, but having that done to me?... That's definitely a hard limit.
I hope Tabitha comes out with a Book 3, assuming she didn't write herself in a corner with Book 2. (Sometimes you just can't write any more if you've done a too good of a job with the previous tomes...)
Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Restraint (His Empire Book 1) (Kindle Edition) Sir Simeon's dream of many years has now become a reality. On his private island, the BDSM retreat for kinky adults is completed. "If you build it, they will come." And indeed, they did come. From old time friends, married couple Faye and George; his grandson and personal assistant Dain. To kinksters of all persuasions; Mistress Moira, Sir Jim and Master Pierce. The head receptionist Hazel, a novice in the community, rounds out the captivating cast of characters.
Guests are transported to the resort by speedboat. A grand art deco building greets them with the words "Twisted Tower" written above the main doors. A tour of the grounds lead us to the "Purgatory Playground" which has various buildings all labeled to reveal what fetish can be explored inside. In the garden, Simeon announces to everyone, "You are all here because I consider you all my closest, dearest friends; and because I wanted to kick things off with the dirtiest, most perverted bunch of people I know."
Faye is reconnecting with her Master and with her submissive and masochistic sides. Sir Simeon joins in, making her feel like "a quivering little puddle of submissive goo." The three of them engage in many arousing and erotic scenes. Hazel, on the other hand, is the most inquisitive of the staff. As a newbie, Dain seems more than eager to be her teacher. "You have this combination of naïve innocence and passionate curiosity that I find irresistible. And the more I got to know you, the more I know I had to have you." Dain is patient with Hazel as they explore her desires. "I want to own you; own your tears; own your pleasure; own you pain."
But Simeon warns him, "she's off limits." "Off course you fancy her. She's gorgeous and so f'***ing innocent-we all want to be the one to pop her various cherries." Does Dain obey Simeon's demand? Or does he continue the relationship regardless of the consequences? We'll surely find out more in book two of "His Empire" series.
I absolutely loved Restraint. Ms Black's vivid imagination reveals like-life experiences. I'm patiently awaiting the next book so I can lose myself in this wonderful fantasy she has created with enchanting characters and steamy, sexually stimulating scenes.
What if she hated it? What if it really hurt? Well, there's a first time for everything. Simeon's Purgatory Playground. Be still my flaming loins. How could I have got so lucky? Come here, sweetheart, let me look at you. How *do* I reconcile my kinky side with my work side? Easy. I don't have a kinky side. WHOA BABY! WHEW! Talk about one helluva fantastically written, hot, smutty, funny, amazing, hot, creative SEXCELLENT book!! Did I mention that it is hot? In ALL of the right ways! I ABSO-EFFEN-LUTELY love, Love, LOVED it and cannot wait to keep reading my way through this SPANKELICIOUS series! Which I am sure will happen sooner than later as I have no restraint at all! wink This is my first Tabitha Black book so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I definitely DID NOT expect to be so thoroughly enraptured by it, to fall for and feel for the complex characters and the various "situations" they found themselves in, to be so caught up in their lives, in their stories, that I became them, completely consumed by ALL OF IT! I love that we get to know the people, become them, just as much outside of the play as in it! Adds that extra something that takes it beyond being "just another BDSM book", because I guaran-damn-tee you that this is any and everything BUT that! I have read quite a few different authors who have written BDSM, but Tabitha's book is more personal, more real, just MORE! It's hard to define, but let's just say that I connected to Hazel immediately because we are similar in a lot of ways, so that connection added more enrichment, deeply enhancing the "full reading experience", captivating me from the very beginning to the very not-quite-an-ending end that came all too soon!! To say that I immensely enjoyed Sir Simeon, Faye, George, Sir Dain, Hazel and the whole Empire, is putting it mildly!! Now enough reviewing, I have too much of His Empire to still discover, revel & delight in!! Or at least I will, once Tabitha has written them!! Oh the horrors of having to wait to continue my indoctrinating to this delectable lifestyle on this SPANKTACULAR island! I have never been known for being patient... So spank me! Please Sir?
Restraint is a novel about an island that can fulfill every fantasy, if you can afford to visit (Or don't mind working off the privilege.) It briefly touches on just about every kink you can think of, though spanking is up there at the top, along with Orgasm denial, menag sex, and exhibitionism. So it's basically like a kink party that never ends. The story focuses two couples. A married couple who have been having some trouble and come to the island to reconnect as guests starts us off. Faye, the submissive wife has been struggling to submit to her husband ever since she became the sole breadwinner, but they both love each other and want to fix the issue.
But before long there's a new pairing in the mix. Dain is a player with a habit of loving and leaving his submissive partners. Hazel is a scene virgin who arrives at the island as an employee, but she has her own secret fantasies that make her a perfect fit for the establishment/ There is instant chemistry between the two, and I honestly felt like they stole the show, but the owner of the island Sir Simeon, is protective of the innocent never-been-spanked Hazel and wary of Dain's past, he warns him off so their relationship has to continue in secret. It's a nice counterpoint to all the freely visible erotic adventures every one else is having, since they are probably the only ones on the island bothering to keep anything under wraps.
I found the wide variety of adventures to be a blast. The character were all likeable and easy to empathize with and both the sex and the bdsm scenes were well written and, to be blunt, hot and very explicit . The book is an easy read and hard to put down. I can't wait to read the sequel!
This is a great start to a new series. Tabitha Black's come up with a playground that a lot of people would like to play on.
Sir Simeon is tired of judgemental people being judgemental about people who practice BDSM. He wants to make sure that people in the lifestyle have a safe place where they can come play, visit, relax, and just be. So, he bought an island in Australia and built a BDSM resort where people of all kinks can come and not be judged.
This book focuses on the opening days of the resort. It also primarily focuses on George and Fay, Hazel, and Dain. Sir Simeon is always there, like a puppet master, even if you don't see him, you know that he's there.
In those 4 people, you have people who are trying to get their marriage and their D/s relationship back online, someone who hasn't ever tried kink but is really turned on by it, and someone who had to come some place safe.
It's really interesting to see everything that happens in the back of the house in setting up the resort. But, that's not nearly as interesting as watching the byplay between all the characters. There are so many levels going on and that's without the kink aspect that is in here. The relationships are what makes up the cake and the kink is definitely the icing. You can't have one without the other but together, they are just perfect.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the series plays out and how new characters will add to everything.
I had heard good things about this series and I wasn't disappointed
I was fortunate to read a Tabitha Black arc a few weeks ago (Primal Possession) which I adored. I knew I had a couple of her books languishing on my kindle, so decided to bump them up my TBR list. I went into Restraint fairly 'blind', for some reason believing it to be a darker read. It isn't, it's actually a BDSM resort read, similar to the Masters of the Castle series and a darn good read too.
I liked that we didn't have just one hero and heroine in this, we actually follow several different characters, some more than others. This allows us to participate in some very hot scenes with an established Master and his slave, George and Faye, as well as enjoy a budding romance between a Dom and a very new-to-it-all sub, Dain and Hazel. I loved the characters, found them all easy to connect with and was totally captivated by the story.
The plot was interesting and the pace was perfect, moving the story along whilst also holding my attention. I was actually disappointed when I discovered I was almost at the end of the book, thankfully I also have book 2 on my kindle and will be diving straight into it. A definite recommend to BDSM romance lovers.
Welcome to the culmination of Sir Simeon's dreams, Nox Oasis. A place where people with all level of kink can come and stay and play.
Upon the grand opening, Sir Simeon invites his long time good friends, Faye and George to get a first look at his new resort. George and Faye are going through a lull and are off their game both in and out of the bedroom. Sir Simeon takes it upon himself to get them back on track, in the most delicious way.
Hazel is Simeon's head receptionist. She has no experience in the lifestyle except for intrigue. Dain is Simeon's PA and try as he might fight, he wants to be the one to bring Hazel all her pleasure and pain.
There are a couple stories going at once, which I would usually find distracting, but not with this book. It is done in a way that picks you up on the storyline, gets you hooked and then leaves you at the peak to check in on the other characters. Only to be hooked on that story and left again to go back to the first. It was a very unique writing style that reminded me of soap operas. I loved it.
Everything about this book was intriguing and enthralling. I can't wait to pick up book 2.
What’s Missing? Restraint had great potential (even though the title makes no sense in relation to the story) but, this is too surface driven. If this is a lifestyle resort, I need the journey to reason why this place would appeal to the characters. Why was this a dream of Simeon’s outside of a place for extended play time? Why is Dane so ready to take this offer? What is Hazel’s background that led her to apply and accept a job like this? Having never run a place like this, how is the opening seamless? No problems? And, why hire Hazel if she’s such raw innocence, to work in such rampant debauchery if not to train her into the lifestyle? Only Dane shows signs of any personal growth so far. He’s in need of the new opportunity and he’s ready for it. Unfortunately, he’s also ready to throw it away just as quickly. If the ending holds up to the story, it remains to been seen. This is a cliffhanger that requires book 2 to find out how these characters and the resort come into their own. Kudos to Marcio for an excellent narration of all the characters in the audio version.
This is my first time reading a book by this author after it was recommended to me by a few people. I was very excited to find it available here, and I haven't been disappointed. Ms. Black opens up a new erotic world in Australia, on an island owned by Sir Simeon. A place where kink is not judged, and neither are the people who love it. Ms. Black has created some wonderful characters, and although I won't say too much and spoil things for anyone else, the dynamics are fabulous. If you like books with some spicy kink, I highly recommend Restraint.
