If you ask me if Jonathan Statham makes me happy, I’ll say ‘Absolutely. He’s the man of my dreams and I can’t wait to marry him.’ If you ask me why my ex-husband Ryan is currently one inch away from me—staring into my eyes and pressing his hand against my cheek, I’ll say, ‘I have no fucking idea…’
Claire Gracen finally has the life she’s always wanted: A career she loves, a man who’s willing to do any and everything for her, and friends that show her the true meaning of the word ‘friendship.’
As she and Jonathan prepare to make the ultimate commitment to one another and plan the wedding of her dreams, she quickly realizes that the hurtful past she left behind in Pittsburgh is a lot closer than she thought.
Sexy, unpredictable, and as charmingly clever as ‘Mid Life Love,’ ‘At Last’ will captivate you from the first page and never let you go.
I had to read this as soon as I finished Mid-Life Love, that is how good it was for me! Whitney G. is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors since she creates this amazing stories and characters! I mean, I love how dirty her heroes are! lol Can I have both, Jonathan AND Andrew? ;)
So, At Last is the continuation of Jonathan and Claire's love story. Actually, this book starts with the epilogue that I missed having in Mid-Life Love and I freaking adored it! Now the main couple is getting married and the book focuses on their life as they prepare everything for it!
“This is the biggest deal of my life and it’s worth much more than my company or any other billion dollar deal that’s come across my desk. And I can’t go another day without knowing.” I pulled the eighteen carat ring out of my pocket. “I want you to be mine—officially. I want you to be Claire Statham.”
I happened to like Claire more in this book, even though she was so obsessed with everything wedding related. I love how Jonathan is able to make her forget about it and just center on what they feel for each other! I mean, he has some pretty good strategies to do that, right? He is just SO sexy and dirty-mouthed, me likey!
I’m going to fuck you like you’ve never been fucked before...
Besides that, there is only one aspect that threw me off: Ryan's appearance and everything that happens after that. He is so dramatic. I mean I understand how difficult the situation is, of course, but wanting Claire involved in it? I mean, he freaking cheated on her: let her be happy, man! I just wanted Claire and Jonathan to have their much deserved happy ending, and they do! I cried my eyeballs out at the end, I loved it so much!
“At last...” Jonathan sang into my ear in perfect pitch. “My love has come along...”
Therefore, my rating for At Last is 4.75 STARS. I know, why not 5 stars? Well this was almost a perfect read for me, almost. As I said, there is some things that annoyed me a little bit but apart from that I loved the continuation of Claire and Jonathan's love story! I really like Whitney's writing style and I can't wait to read more of hers: I hope she does publish Twisted Love (Jonathan's sister story), I cannot wait! So if you want a romance full of sexy times, a couple that love each other like crazy and not much drama, you should check this one out! I highly recommend it!
♠ 3.5 At-Last...A book I loved in this series stars ♠
This book in a sentence:Extended wedding planning epilogue..With a bit LOT of drama from the past.
My thought's on the characters:
Didn't really like Claire at all in book 1...In book 2 she kind of redeemed her self by standing up to her ex in the end.So she's ok I guess, even though she came out as a money hungry fiance for half, the whole book.
I liked Johnathan in both books but better in book 2.I always did love possessive alpha males. So,I didn't really have a problem with his character from the beginning.
My thought's on the plot:I liked the fact that the drama was sorted through-out the book instead of JUST having a dramatic ending..Hence,an extra star away from book 1.
Would I recommend the read ? If you've read book one its a give you'll read book 2 as well,at-least out of curiosity like me.
If not..Do give this series another go..The plot just might surprise you ;)
Will I be giving the author another go ? Yes for sure ! I loved her Reasonable Doubt series that was one of the main reasons I gave this series a go.
My review will reference what’s revealed from the blurb… just so you know.
Thank you so much Whitney for allowing me to be a part of this. I was a beta reader for Mid Life Love: At Last and I enjoyed every second of it. I read the unedited, non-final version and loved it. Oh and yeah, there’s a character named after me, it’s minor, but it’s there and that tickled me to no end.
So Jonathan and Claire are getting married, YAY! Okay, when you read book 2 of any series, I am always cautious, I think to myself, “Am I going to like this?” or “how will this be different?” well, let me just say, Whitney did good, I was on my toes, I was happy and oh the STEAM!!!
The beginning starts off with Jonathan and Claire prepping for the wedding, but of course a bunch of shit gets thrown their way, does this deter Jonathan? Uh no. If you like the alpha male, oh lord… but we will get to him in just a sec, PROMISE! We have Claire’s ex popping up, but it’s the not the typical lover’s tension you would get with a love triangle, it’s just different. I think it’s because Claire is so strong and her character kind of grew. Claire is a bit frustrating at times, but don’t worry, Mr. Statham will ring her in and then some.
In book 1, Mid life Love, Claire was a bit insecure because of her age, but in Mid Life Love: At Last, she’s really confident and you can tell she is comfortable in her skin. Fuck yeah, she’s 40 and fuck yeah she’s shacking it up with a younger guy. This use to irk me, but I’ve come to terms, you can’t help who you fall in love with right? Hooray for cougars!
Oh the many ways I love my Mr. Statham. He’s so FUCKING ALPHA! If you want a guy to say, oh shut-the-fuck-up and suck-my-dick, then Mr. Statham is your MAN! I’m serious and if you think that is offense, well, why are you reading my review? Just kidding… kind of… okay, not really.
Oh and the steam! LOVED IT! It was kinky, it was good, it was enjoyable. Don’t worry, it’s not the same stuff too. I don’t know about you, but I like unique sex scenes, please, give m public, please give me strip tease, please give me spanking, oh my!
If you like the Mid Life Love, then you will love Mid Life Love At Last, you will not be disappointed.
I enjoyed this follow-up...more so than the first book. However, I honestly don't think a second book was needed. A nice epilogue at the end of Mid Life Love would have been sufficient.
Claire still kind of annoyed me but for different reasons.
WARNING: Contains spoilers for Mid-Life Love
Claire has admitted her feelings for Jonathan.
They're engaged to be married. Now here's where Claire once again got to me....could she have been more greedy when it came to Jonathan's money?? Could anyone have for that matter? His mom? Claire's kids? Hell even Claire's mom!!
And Jonathan just threw it out like it was growing on trees. I mean DAMN!
Anywho....on top of the wedding planning, Claire gets a visit from her past. This is where most of the drama and conflict was created.
This companion novel was much shorter, which was nice. I still really liked Jonathan. And I liked the interactions with some of the side characters, especially Claire's kids. It made for some funny banter. This one was just as HOT as the last one, but in the end it just wasn't necessary IMO.
Now Corey and Haley's story...
I'm a big fan of this author...and I have especially liked her two most recent works My Last Resolution and Reasonable Doubt: Volume 1 so I look forward to what she has to come!
Hey guess who is an idiot that missed the 'the end' mark in the first book and read the second one by accident? Yep, that's me.
Let me try to explain my stupidity: the book I have has both set of book in one epub so I missed 'the end' of the first book. Mistakes like this happens all the time, right??
Anyways, I don't have much to say about this one other than Claire was the same bratty woman who wanted the biggest wedding money can buy (and Jonathan, the guy without dignity, provided). She is the definition of bridezilla.
The 'plot twist', if you can call it that, was so so so so bad it just shows you that Claire and Jonathan are better off without each other.
I do recommend reading Whitney's books since she is a talented author. Just don't read this one please.

Ridiculous on so many levels - everything was over-the-top. I started skimming thru just to end my misery. I absolutely hated the heroine, Claire. What an absolute bitch! Why Jonathan's in love with her is beyond comprehension. Don't be fooled by the cover which shows a 20 year old when in fact Claire is in her 40's. There's not one damn thing I liked about this craptastic novel.
This is how I felt when I found out when the release was and then had to patiently wait to get my copy.
OMG where do I start?! I loved the first book and wasn't sure if this one could be any better but it was!! This book had me excited, sad, heartbroken, frustrated, angry and everything else in between.
At one point, well actually a few points, I almost ripped my copy in half and threw it across the room, seriously, I can't tell you how close I was to actually doing that to my book. The saving grace is that my copy is signed by the author, so I took a few breaths to try and calm myself down before continuing to read and just when I think I've felt all the emotions I'm going to feel while reading this book I find myself literally laughing out loud because of something Jonathan says while right before that I'm wanting to reach into the book... If you want to go on a roller coaster ride of emotions this is definitely the book to read! I will definitely be suggesting this book and Mid Life Love to everyone I can and look forward to what Whitney has in store for us in the future!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
My shelves are a bit all over the place on this one, demonstrating a bit of mixed feelings alongside what was also some enjoyment. It’s a solid follow up to book one and I really did feel invested to see what happened to this couple. I really liked some of the drama and not so much at other times. The heroine irritated me a bit at times but she eventually pulled herself together. Overall this couple have been fun to read about and they were pretty damn steamy.
I love Jonathan's alpha male attitude but even more so I love his love for Claire and doing anything and everything so she knows it daily. This was the perfect HEA for this couple even down to her bridezilla ways lol Jonathan is her perfect soulmate, kind to her daughters and just a great guy. I have a smile on my face and love in my heart for another Whitney G couple I want the next one!!!
At the end of Mid Life Love, you get an insight into a different book that the author was working on and was planning to release before the end of the year. I'm not very familiar as to what transpired after this release but it appears that there was a clamor for an epilogue and another book and as far as I know there is now a case for a trilogy. The demand for the epilogue was easily met and what should have been a novella turned into a full-length shortish novel. I've seen this all before and sadly this has resulted mainly in unnecessary sequels. Fortunately for us, the author found new conflicts to write about. There was enough meat in the story without turning it into a sickly sweet sequel where there are no issues but instead we are presented with the couple declaring their undying love for one another in every other page.
BUT I did have issues with several inconsistencies in this sequel.
One I barely liked Claire in this book. Her witty POV (especially at the work place) was less so here. Moreover, I just couldn't accept her over-the-top obsession with creating the perfect wedding. I get that she and Ryan never did it properly due to money issues. However, from book 1 she struck me as a mature woman who shunned materialism and superficiality. At times, she just came across as a spoiled brat who was more than willing to spend money frivolously to get that dream wedding.
My biggest issue is the Ryan and Amanda storyline. It provided us with the central conflict in the plot but...
Despite my issues though, this remained to be an engaging plot. Whitney Gracia Williams is a highly capable author. I'm not so sure I'm sold on a third book though...
Oh. My. God. Anyone, find me another Jonathan, please?
I loved every page on Mid Life Love. (Okay, except the part where Claire and Damien being in the same room with Jonathan. Oh, except when Claire begging to see Jonathan while she still had no intention to cut off Damien) I fell in love with Jonathan, immediately. And in this sequel, I thought I had no love left because all of it I gave it to Jonathan, the true alpha male. Okay, I know I'm baffling now, but please, don't stop me.
Eight months later after Claire and Jonathan overcame their separation and their own issue, they were realized that they found another love, they could love again. And when life seems perfect, Ryan comes back to Claire's life. And as a true alpha male, Jonathan doesn't share what's his. He doesn't give a damn, he just wants Ryan out of Claire's life. He, who picked the shattered heart of Claire's, will not give Ryan a chance to interfere with their perfectly frustrating-but-sweet life. Claire, on the other hand, is completely immersed with her dream job and dream wedding. She seems to like test Jonathan's nerve (which is I liked it very much, it means she's challenging!) and Jonathan always knows how to handle her. But what looks like a perfect life is not a perfect life. With Ryan's comeback, Jonathan and Claire once again have to fight for worse coming, that their love being tested again.
I had to stay up until 3 AM to finish this book. Author, you succeeded to make me ensure that Claire and Jonathan HAVE to have their live-happily-ever-after. Author, did you dare me to ask the trilogy? What can I say? I loved Claire and Jonathan. Very. Much. I didn't want them to end. I really wanted they have kids. Please. As much as I am ready to die for Jonathan, but the fact he doesn't want kids make me brokenhearted. So, I guess I'd just swallow this story until At Last.
Oh my God! I'm seriously in fictional obsession again because of Jonathan Statham. The man does things to me beyond your imagination! ;) If you are looking for a perfect story about love, marriage, family and handsome territorial billionaire man who doesn't care about age gap, this is the series for you! It's a package deal! You should read "Mid Life Love" first before you read this of course.
I really love this second installment for Mid Life Love. The perfect wedding? Damn. It's out-of-this-world perfect. It's like every woman's fantasy become real. And ten times worth of orgasm. Really! Of course if you are gonna be married to a multi billionaire-neanderthal-crazy-hot Jonathan Statham, who wouldn't agree for that wedding you've been dreaming for? I'm so jealous for Claire! This man is the death of me. He's just so dreamy. *sigh*
Jonathan and Claire are adorable. I love the way Jonathan treats Claire. He is absolutely so in love it's like.. AWWW! I love how Jonathan expresses his love for Claire by sending endless flowers with naughty notes, being a caveman, the incredible sex, and how they infuriate each other is so cute and funny and it makes me all giddy. I mean, every woman would want to be in Claire's place. It's like heaven on earth! :-)
I'm really gonna miss Claire and Jonathan so much! And not just them but as well the other characters in here.
I'M DARING WHITNEY GRACIA WILLIAMS to make a third book of this because I really want more of them! I'm screaming in my mind right now: TRILOGY PUHLEASSSE!
5 PERFECT STARS! Looking forward to Twisted Love and Wasted Love! I know it's going to be awesome!
In Mid Life Love, Claire is dealing with a cheating (ex) husband, the loss of her (former) best friend, and the pursuit of a younger man.
Now comes Mide Life Love: At Last where Jonathan and Claire are madly in love and planning their wedding.. The "marital counseling session" is HILARIOUS and one scene I NEVER want to forget. The bachelorette party is wonderful, alarming and funny. The little surprises Claire has for Jonathan are sweet. The climax is a shock.
Jonathan and Claire are adorable. I love the way Jonathan treats Claire. He is absolutely so in love it's like...AWWWWW....Claire is almost as frustrating to me as she is to Jonathan. Still, I love them both.
When Claire's ex-husband returns, all hell breaks loose. This part of the story is the biggest and most unwelcome shock. It's a bold and daring move that works brilliantly. The added thrills make this a mystery/thriller/romance. My heart is pounding just remembering all his stunts.
Whitney wrote a realistic account of what couples endure. There are plenty of things that could, and often do, go wrong in any relationship. The couples that are truly in love have the patience to work it out, no matter what. At Last gives us Jonathan and Claire. Do they have the love to last?
Incredible. I love it. A memorable, funny, thrilling romance featuring Jonathan and Claire.
1.5 - 2 stars. It pains me tremendously to write this review as I absolutely adored "Mid Life Love." Loved everything about it- it was the perfect blend of sexy, sweet, funny and had heart. This book lacked all of those things. There was no depth; Claire seemed like a bitter, frivolous, money spending shrew, Johnathan was every bad over-protective billionaire cliche and the storyline with Claire's ex was just unnecessary. Everyone just seemed very flat and one dimensional in this book.
I didn't even know there was a sequel until the day it was released and I was beyond excited to see what happened next for Claire and Johnathan. And now I wish that I had just stopped with "Mid Life Love" because this wasn't needed at ALL. C&J had an HEA at the end of MLL and I could see their happiness lasting for years. At times this book made me doubt that they'd still be together in five years. With the way that this one ended, I could very well see another book coming out and I really doubt I'll read it. I'm too busy singing, "If I Could a Turn Back Time" and pretending that I just read a completely different book that had nothing to do with Claire and Johnathan.
This sequel was excellent! I loved how Jonathan wooed Claire in book 1, and I was super happy to have book 2 at my fingertips so I could stay in their world that much longer.
His mother, gah! I wanted to shake her more than a few times. Her interference in his relationship with Claire bugged me intensely. She really knew how to get under Claire’s skin and chip away at her confidence that marrying a man so much younger than her would work out. In the end, no one could keep these two lovers from working things out, becoming each other’s rock and finally tying the knot.
This duology was one of top favorite reads in 2017!
I received this yesterday by the author for an honest review, and I started reading it right away and couldn't put it down till I finished it... I couldn't be more excited to read and finished this book, I love this author she makes you laugh, cry and get irritated with certain characters..
This is a sequel to Mid Life Love, and if you haven't read it read it...
In the first book we meet Claire Gracen and her story and Jonathan Statham and his story, two people that have gone through so much in their life to form a beautiful relationship, that we see grow in both books. Claire and Jonathan are ready to start their life together, but certain things happen that have them put a hold on their relationship.... I love Claire, she is so determined and strong character and I think Jonathan bring her out even more and you still see it in this book... Jonathan (sign, Swoon) he is sexy, confident and man does he love Claire he reminds me of another sexy billionaire, Jonathan would do anything for Claire and protector her from anything/anyone. I loved these character separately and together...
In enjoyed reading this book it ended the way it should have, and you keep wanting to know what's next in their life.. I also enjoyed other character and hope that it becomes a series because I would be buying them... I'm so glad that she elaborated on Claire's Ex husband and her Ex best friend I know in the first book it was a happy ever after for them but I'm so glad their was more to there story and I'm glad that it ended the way it did... I got everything that I wanted in this book...
Overall this was a fun read and Im sad to see it end I want more Claire and Jonathan all good things come to end... I can't wait to read more from this author...
If you read Mid Life Love chances are you already fell in love with Claire and Jonathan's sexy love story. To me this wonderful book felt like an extended epilogue but with a couple of exciting twists that kept me hooked until the very end.
As you know Claire and Jonathan are engaged, so in this book they are planning Claire's dream wedding, her edible fiancé is giving her free range and an unlimited budget to plan the nuptials but with the stipulation that they wed in three months. Her daughters went away to college, Claire's interior designing business is booming and Jonathan is as controlling as ever and all that will add difficulty to the planning. To add insult to injury her ex- Ryan decides to show up in town with his wife (Claire's ex- best friend) and they are relentless in trying to mend and complicate things in Claire's new life.
Jonathan is determine to give Claire the wedding and the life of her dreams and he'll stop at nothing to care and protect for his future bride. I have to say that Jonathan Statham is currently holding first place in the list of my fictional boyfriends; I mean the man is sexy, dominant, extremely giving and very creative in the bedroom. *sight
I loved everything about this smart and funny novel, except for the fact that Claire was a bit of a Bridezilla and that annoyed me a few times, but other than that this book was a fantastic conclusion to this awesome series, this is the type of book that I can and will recommend to everybody because is just that amazing and entertaining.
PS. Jonathan I will love/ lust/ dream about you 4eva!!!!!!!,
Loved getting to see more of Jonathan and Claire, that's never a bad thing!
This book focuses on the 2 as they prepare for their wedding. We also get a deeper look at both of their pasts, as trouble tries to rear its ugly head.
I fell deeper in love with Jonathan in this book. He's still doing anything and everything for Claire...wanting nothing more than her happiness. And Claire was still driving me a little crazy, although not quite as much as in MLL.
The story with her ex-husband and ex-bestfriend was really interesting and well done. I have to say I'd feel the same way as Claire, and would not want to have anything to do with either one, no matter the situation.
There was a little more angst in this story I felt, with the way both Claire and Jonathan handled some of the things that happened. But once again they were able to work things through and come out stronger for it. Gosh, I love them!
Malisimo!
Oh Mr. Statham. It was impossible not to fall for him. I loved how he did not back down. Every no was another opportunity to work harder towards a yes. His persistence was so sexy. What was even better was that once he finally won Claire over, he didn’t stop showering her with love and any and everything her heart desired. Were there moments I wanted to slap both of them? Yes? But, that’s what makes a good story...one that gets you into your feelings. I loved the growth of Claire, it’s not easy bouncing back from the betrayal that she experienced. I liked seeing her come out of that insecurity shell she lived in for long. I was so into Jonathan and Claire’s story. From the very beginning, every word just pulled me deeper and deeper in and didn’t let go until the very end.
