A haunted school. Unexplained murders. A Nationwide scandal. Taryn has her work cut out for her...
Seven people are dead. Muddy Creek’s most famous resident is the suspect. How did artist Taryn find herself right in the middle of the nation’s shocking mystery as it unfolds? It's not your typical ghost story.
Historic Muddy Creek Elementary School has been abandoned for nearly twenty years. When it’s partially destroyed, artist Taryn Magill is hired to recreate the old building through her paintings in hopes that it will be rebuilt as an Appalachian Heritage Center.
Popular children’s author, and town recluse, Lucy Dawson has lived in Muddy Creek all her life. Agoraphobic, most townspeople haven’t seen her in years. When she’s accused of murdering seven people, the small, mountain town is shaken to its core.
But Taryn thinks there’s more to this story. There’s something sinister about the old school that everyone seems to love. More than simply spooky and scary, it’s tainted. The cries she hears down the decrepit hallways haunt her and the stench of decay is from more than just age. Every town has its own haunted house, but this is different.
Taryn’s convinced that Muddy Creek Elementary is hiding a terrible, awful secret–And that Lucy Dawson knows more than she’s telling.
With the help of Miss Dixie, the camera that can see the past, and the county’s now infamous criminal, Taryn aims to get to the bottom of the mystery before it’s too late for all of them.
Book 7 in the Taryn’s Camera paranormal mystery and haunted house series. The ghost story series follows Taryn Magill, an artist whose camera can see the past. Together, they work to solve the mysteries of the places they visit-sometimes with the extra help of the dead. The ghosts are only the beginning of what they find! A little crime noir, a little mystery, a little paranormal-and a whole lot of fun!
Skip this book. Its terribly disappointing since other books in this series has been more entertaining. This book just offers an update on Taryn's medical condition and a suggestion that Matt is going to read cut as her love interest in some future book. The last 3 or 4 chapters gives you the whole story for this book. Disappointing!
Great story, surprise ending, really needs an editor
I love these stories! I didn’t see the ending coming at all! The only thing that makes me crazy, is the lack of editing. There are so many grammatical and word usage mistakes that it is a distraction. I would have rated it higher, if she had someone correct the easily found and corrected errors!
The plot was ok-good. It did hold me until the end. I was expecting more of a ghostly presence; maybe something to shake my core more so than it did. It's still a good book. You have to ignore the multiple spelling and grammar errors, but they were, in all honesty, small things.
I'm not sure I will read more from this author, but I'll think about it.
This book is not as good as the previous ones. Too much about her disease and woes about Matt. She needs to pull herself together. The editing and typing errors are ridiculous. I hope she doesn't pay very much for it. The past 6 books have been interesting enough to continue the series and I sincerely hope that the editing and typing errors improve...
Books 1-7 (so far) are absolutely incredible. LOVE the series. I was checking it out because my name is Taryn and I was pleasantly surprised how much I love Rebecca’s storytelling style. Amazing!
Very exciting and sad at the same time , I didn't want to out it down , great characters, great job painting how a small town looks like , make me picture it in my head , great job
As much as I love the series and this book, I couldn't get over the crazy number of typos, wrong words, and misspelled words. One character named Freida was referred to as male and female. Obviously whoever is supposed to proofread was on a lengthy vacation or something. It would be one thing if there were 5 or even 10 typos. I lost count. They were almost every page. Also, for the love of God, stop with the Taryn not being sure of Matt storyline. He's perfect and the author has Taryn treating him like he's no important enough to her. Hopefully the next book will be proofread.
Muddy Creek had a few editing errors but this didn't detract from the book. The storyline hits close to home when it comes to the horrors of humanity. I enjoyed this series and will read the next book.
I wish my camera is like Miss Dixie!!! Taryn takes photos and then when she gets a feel for an old building, she will paint the building on canvas e as it was when first built. This book was about a grammar school that was haunted. Her boyfriend, Matt, always visits Taryn on at least one weekend and more if he is able to, to give his insight regarding the pictures she takes. This is a really good series that I feel you should read from the first so you can enjoy Tartan and Matt and what they go through.
So I really like all of the books in this series. I really like Taryn because she is a down to earth, southern, doing okay financially- but not rich, interesting, paranormal, painting woman. She has her romantic sidekick, Matt who is in love with her, and waiting for something that may never happen. I love the mystery in these books as well, and I believe this is probably the best yet.
Slightly different ending then the rest of the books, but it has the ability for you to feel the emotions of the characters in the story, which isn't always something I find in the books I read, but Rebecca has a way of doing that for me. It makes me feel connected to the characters and the storyline.
Rebecca Patrick Howard has done it again. This book touched on some dark issues and the long lasting effects. It was well written. We all should look out for the children and report suspected abuse of any kind for it is our business because it's the first step in stopping the abuse from being passed on.
This one didn't hold my attention like her other ones in this series did. Some parts seemed to drag. BUT I have really been enjoying this series so on to the next!! :)
I enjoyed reading Muddy Creek. I have read the series in order. Taryn is a complicated woman. She fights her own demons and health issues. At the same time she works to paint and let her work guide her to finding the answers needed to solve the mystery. I wasn't sure how I would like ghost mysteries, but it is a great read. I have a hard time putting the story down.
