November 2016: I sat by the post box all morning waiting for my copy and it was SO worth the wait!! It took 2 hours and 35 minutes to finish it which is actually a record time for me. (AND ZOE SUGG LITERALLY JUST QUOTED MY TWEET AND SAID SHE'S PLEASED I ENJOYED THE BOOK AND I CRIED)

This was just on par with the other two; basic vocabulary, plenty of cheese and cliches, just the right amount of action and plot to keep me turning the pages without rolling my eyes too much. What can I say? I'm a sucker for these books.

*slight spoiler!* There were a few moments which I thought were going to live up to my predictions but of course, as I knew all along, Penny was never going to be just "PenPo" for long, was she? And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm actually happy about it. *end slight spoiler!* This book made me feel warm and gooey inside and it's not something I admit freely these days.

So much like the other two, this book wasn't a difficult read but it was an extremely enjoyable one and tackled lots of issues that are relevant in society today. Including old people tutting at young people for being on their phones. That was THE BEST. Hashtag, Team Internet.

All in all, a really comforting story with lots of light twists and turns that make for a very pleasing reading experience.

And the 5 stars is purely because I fucking adore Zoe Sugg. The book itself would probably get a 4, solid 4. But I'll stick with the 5 because did I mention that Zoe just tweeted me???? Sorry, I'll shut up. But seriously, this was a great book.

GO BUY THIS. IT'S AWESOME.

June 2016: It's titled "Girl Online: Going Solo"

COULD THIS FINALLY BE THE BADASS FEMINIST "I DON'T NEED A BOY TO BE HAPPY" INSTALMENT IN THE SERIES?!

Probably not because it's YA. And it's Zoe. But STILL. I have hope.

Is it November yet?? Pre-ordered my copy today!

”Someone else’s success is not your failure”.

i must admit that i didn't enjoy girl online going solo as much as i enjoyed girl online, but it was still enjoyable. i mean, during the first half of the book, penny was quite irritating but after i got past the first 150ish pages, i flew through the book and didn't want to put it down!! this series is a tad bit too juvenile and cliché for my usual taste in books but somethin' about penny's relationship with her family, friends, and noah just got me hooked from the first few pages of girl online!!

“One thing I've learnt recently is that blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours shine any brighter.”

It’s been a year since I’ve read the first two books in this series and even though I wasn’t too happy with the first book, I decided to still read ‚Girl Online: Going Solo‘. I liked the second book better than the first one and hoped that I’d maybe also like this book better than the second one. After finishing it though, I can say that this unfortunately wasn’t the case; but I still liked it and would put it on the same level as ‘Girl Online: On Tour’.

GOGS is a very quick and fun read. It’s a cute story and overall the entire Girl Online series is just a bunch of sweet books that are perfect for teenage girls. But even though I’m not a teenager anymore, I still enjoyed them so you shouldn’t shy away from these books only because you’ve already entered your twenties.

So overall, this was a great read but there were still a couple of things that bothered me. Unfortunately, I still felt like the main character Penny, was sometimes still acting quite childish for her age and at some points I felt like I was reading about a thirteen-year-old and not about a girl that’s almost seventeen. In my review of the second book, I also complained about the fact that she is a very clumsy character and a lot of the moments in which she was being her ‘clumsy self’ just felt very forced and unrealistic, as if Zoe Sugg was just trying her hardest to make Penny more relatable. In my opinion, this has definitely improved in this book and even though there were still one or two scenes in which it bothered me, she was less clumsy and her clumsy moments were definitely more realistic.

Another thing that bothered me was Sugg’s usage of ‘OK’ instead of just using ‘okay’. But I’ve already complained about that enough in my other reviews, especially in the one of the first book. I also still don’t know if it’s maybe just a common thing in the UK to write ‘OK’ instead of ‘okay’ because if that’s the case, I hope all of you that are from the UK can forgive me for being annoyed with it.

What I loved about this book though, is how it was once again set mainly in Brighton and this time featured a lot of places I’ve been to before. Reading about them just brought back so many great memories and made me really happy. It’s one of the things I just love about reading books set in places I’ve visited before and it just made reading GOGS even more enjoyable.

All in all, this was a good book and I’m glad I decided to read the entire series even though I didn’t really enjoy the first book. I decided to give ‘Girl Online: Going Solo’ 4 out of 5 stars and even though I enjoyed it, I still hope that this is the last part in this series because I think it’s a fitting conclusion to it.

Oh my gosh. What a wonderful ending to Girl Online. I kinda don't want it to be over. When Callum came into the picture I was a little worried, then I thought Zoë wouldn't do that to us. He was very sweet though. Of course Noah came and surprised her again. When she wouldn't talk to him I was heart broken but then again I understand why. And poor Elliott, glad things kinda worked out in the end for him. I wasn't expecting an ending like that but it was a beautiful ending. This book was also great as it challenged me on a few personal things, especially one of the blog posts. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK AND THIS SERIES

it's not actually a 1 star read, but a very solid 1.5, just so you know. maybe even a 1.75
there's a distinct lack of going solo for a book literally titled going solo, and i guess that's all i want to say before i go back to reading decent literature again-- I've wasted an entire evening already as it is

Finished late last night. loved it I love how in those books, it is not all about a boy/boys/being in love, but also about family and friends, the ups and down that come with that, about what you want to do with your life in terms of a profession etc. Someone called it 'slice of life' books and that is the perfect term for these. It is a very quick read, easy writing and highly enjoyable. I cannot think of a reason for 4* in stead of 5 :P Maybe some parts were predictable, but somehow I did not really mind, so yeah 5* for this highly enjoyable and highly recommended read!

~ A review by a disinterested, non Zoella-crazy person. ~

There is so much of hype and hate surrounding this series, and frankly speaking, I don't understand either. I think that a lot of it stems from people's feelings towards Zoe Sugg herself, rather than their feelings towards these books. I have to admit that what prompted me to pick up Girl Online in the first place was my curiosity and surprise that a YouTuber had written an actual work of fiction (I only learnt later about the ghostwriting). But Girl Online pleasantly surprised me, perhaps because I wasn't really expecting anything at all. Back then, I didn't think a sequel was required, but after reading Girl Online On Tour and Girl Online Going Solo, I can see why they were needed.

I think the main thing that helped make everything better was choosing to work on me before anything else. How can you truly be happy with someone else when you aren't in the best place you can be for you?

The first thing to remember before reading this series is to not expect anything other than a light, quick read. If cheesy highschool romances are not your thing, these books won't be either. I found the first half of Girl Online Going Solo to be a bit boring and draggy, but it picked up a few notches towards the end. I'm pretty sure that some of this has to do with the fact that I've always liked Noah, but still. 'Going Solo' was definitely the wrong name to give this book, because within the first few chapters, Penny meets a cute Scottish boy and has her heart beating faster. I'm not saying that you can't be single and have a million crushes, but Penny certainly doesn't seem to want to be single - she just is because of circumstances. Nothing wrong with that, but she is by no means going solo. Another slightly annoying issue I had is that Penny is quite slow when it comes to seeing things that are right in front of her. There are these poor attempts at suspense throughout the book which did nothing other than make me roll my eyes at Penny's, well, blindness.

But, the book did have a few nice takeaways. I especially liked the message behind Penny's photography project at the end. Of the three books, this one seemed the most autobiographical to me. And though all the drama and obviousness made me roll my eyes a lot, what with the perfect bow tied around the happy ending, I still sort of liked the book.

Blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours shine any brighter.

I don’t know why I’m reading the third book when I gave both the first and the second book one star. Maybe it’s because I find them entertaining being so cliche and eyerolling, but whatever it is, it obviously didn’t affect my rating. Once again I have to say I didn’t particularly like the book, I found this more entertaining than the other two, probably because I had so low expectations towards it. The characters we’re a little bit less annoying, however the whole «Omg Callum is so hot» thing… no girl. It wasn't even a love triangle, Callum was just there to make drama between Penny and Noah, and to make it even more awkward. As soon as Noah is back everything is okay again, and Callum is forgotten. I know this is young adult books, I know it’s not necessarily supposed to be sad and the main character probably isn’t going to get involved in a lot of shit, but everything is perfect for Penny in these books and I find it to be very unrealistic. Something goes wrong and suddenly Noah comes back and everything is okay, that way she can «dump» Callum and go back to normal, dating a superstar and running a blog. It’s just filled with a fanfiction feeling to it, and to me the whole book was very predictable like the books before.

I don’t really think a third book was necessary, and I’m not saying that because I didn’t like the first two books, I genuinely think the ending in «Girl Online On Tour» was good enough for this series. The ending in this one just made the whole ting even more unrealistic, from the show to the exhibition. And the meet and greet thing was honestly painful to read, I'm sorry. And not to mention the whole "I wrote you a song" thing at the end of the book where they basically just made their wedding vows in song format, I rolled my eyes so far back in my head.. you have no idea.

The internet is both a beautiful and a terrible place. I was reading something, and as one thing leads to another, always, on the internet, I ended up reading that the Girl Online franchise would be spawning a third monumentally disastrous "book". There's only so far you can take something, especially if the said something was so bad, and Ms. Sugg should've taken the hint after the first book, if not after the first few lines. The fact that this book already has a rating of 4.5 even before its scheduled release appalls me. Ugh.

With this book picking up from the very emotional and heartbreaking ending from the second book. It's a mess itself as the massive pay off that the first two books are hyping for. It is the climax of the story, the part whom everyone is waiting for, in the part where every single intense action begins and happens. Once again i really loved the relationship between Penny & (i won't tell you who cuz it's like a spoiler on who she chooses). This is definitely an interesting story that we'll just keep you hooked from the start to the finish. Definitely the best one out of all the three.

These books are so cliche and predictable but I love Penny and Noah and Elliot and they are just so cute! It's really interesting how Zoe described the panic attacks and anxiety where Penny from suffers. I know Zoe has anxiety too and I think it's really brave to talk about it. I secretly hope that Zoe will write a book four because this series is my guilty pleasure and I just love them so much

A najbardziej znienawidziłam Megan.

Wydanie i wygląd książki.

Motywujące do wkładania więcej serca w swoją pasję i dążenia do celu. Bardzo Wam polecam!

I didn't really like this book. It took me about four months to finally finish this book. I started to like this book when I was half way through . From there on I loved the story and the events happening in there. Callum was kinda annoying though, I think his behaviour was kinda unrespectful but oh well.

Before this review, just putting out there that I love Zoe Sugg /Zoella's videos. She seems light hearted, funny and incredibly positive; and her books reflect that. Even though I did not particularly enjoy this book, it does not mean that I do not like the author, or judge her in any way. Just putting that out there.

Slightly more in depth reviews will come on MY BLOG of my recent reads, so go check it out.
description

This was my overall reaction throughout the whole book. It was... OK. There were a few main - some small, some bigger- issues that annoyed me during this book:
1. The over use of exclamation points If you saw my last update you'd know it was driving me CRAZZZZY. It felt like every sentence ended in one and maybe that's just me and my weirdness but it still was irritating AF.

This is an example of a page with 5 exclamation points !!!!!description

2. Callum. Callum was a pretty suspicious character, who always seemed to have some anger issues, (for example, he would clench his fists, give dirty looks, hesitate, say something stupid and suddenly change his mood) however the book never addressed what the hell was wrong with him! Major plot hole there.
description

3. The plot. It wasn't as good as the last books. There was no drastic change in scenery, as the character didn't go overseas or anything. The only changes of location were from Brighton to London or at one point to Scotland, unlike the last book that had a number of different countries. Basically, I think that going to a vastly different country would have improved the otherwise pretty dull plot.
4. No twist The Girl Online Series naturally does not have the most exciting plot twists, nor the most subtle, however they are pretty fun. In this book, though, I felt like the two major twist in the story were either too obvious or just did not work.

So those were the main issues. I did enjoy some of the book though: Like the new places and layout of Brighton (Boho Gelato sounds amazing!), the little twist at the end with Noah (that one worked for me), and the scenery of Scotland - one of my favourite countries in the world. :)

All in all, the book was good, uplifting and incredibly light hearted. I feel like with my recent non- stop fantasy spur, my reading expectations and level has increased, therefore I think this book would definitely be more suited to the younger reader. It was enjoyable, but the small things mentioned above were real let downs. Anyway, have you read this series? Did you find the same things annoying? Do you like watching Zella's video's?

Thanks for reading,
Helenarosel

A sweet and wonderful story about real friendship, the love of a caring family, the love we share with our boyfriend and that we have to take care of ourself - no matter what - if we want to be able to help others. This book came at the right time to me and helped me a lot. Full review to come.

Girl Online Going Solo!!! I love these books. I would say they are my guilty pleasure but screw it, I don't feel guilty about it.

I'm so glad she wrote a third book, not because I care about if Noah and Penny were getting back together or not. I wanted to read more from Penny, I wanted to see how she would evolve and what would happen on her journey. I love Penny as a character so much, she is just so freaking relatable. And even though there is a huge age difference between me and her, I actually feel like I grew with her in each book. Just like her I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and in the first two books, reading about her struggles and how she dealt with them, I couldn't imagine ever getting as far as she has gotten. Now, reading the third book and seeing how she is not over them (of course) but how she handles it, and looking at myself and seeing how far I have actually come this year, it feels amazing.

So yes, the characters aren't anything new, the story isn't anything new and earth-shattering. But it's real and at least for me, it's something important and helpful. So having that rant out of the way, lets talk about the actual book and the story in this one. It's the third book, so there's probably some spoilers, so beware (danger! danger!)

New characters!!!!
Posey. I love love love her. She's just such a special snowflake. And I love that she met Penny and that Penny helped her out. Now for one second did I think she would turn out to be the bad guy. Not when Megan is in the mix. Can I just say that I hate her with a burning passion. Screw the apology at the end, she sucks. I think in the second book she kinda grew on my, but no, screw that. I really liked Callum in the beginning but as soon as the first date happened, he was giving me a weird vibe and nope, didn't need that guy.

I still don't care for Penny and Noah. No disrespect to everyone who loves them, they just aren't for me. But he makes Penny happy and I'm all for that, so I will deal with that.
On the friendship front, tho. Penny and Elliot. Oh, they went through quite a bit in that book, especially due to Elliot's problems at home. I felt so bad for him and he really scared me towards the end. Glad that things worked out for him, kinda. But it will be better in the end. (Also, I'm so very happy that Elliot and Alex are still going strong. These two are just so damn cute).

I don't think that a 4th book is necessary. I would love one about Elliot, to be completely honest. If she decides to write another book in this series, I would still buy it, cause PENNY!!!!! But I would also love to read something completely different from her.

Ok so I really liked the first book in this series, the second book I enjoyed, but this book was just about one of the most cliché things I've read, kinda pointless and a bit of a let down (but I'm being nice cause I gave it two stars). I found the first big chunk of this book extremely boring since it was basically just Penny trying to be independent until she meets her new boy toy and decides that she needs a new boyfriend, and then eventually just breaks up with him when Noah comes back (we all knew that was gonna happen, no shocker there).
Another thing that was annoying about this book, was that Penny was just so oblivious to everything the entire time, to point where I started rolling my eyes at how dumb it was getting. There were places at the end of chapters that tried to leave you with anticipation, but everything that happened was just so predictable. And going "solo" was the worst title because most of it was about boy drama. Apparently Penny can't go a couple months without a boyfriend witch just kinda ruined the entire point of the title. It all just seemed really cliché and dumb. I liked some bits of it but I was quite bored for a lot of it. I do not hate this book, but I'm far from loving it. I'm a Zoella fan but this really wasn't one of my favourites of hers, just my opinion.

Will these books ever end? Failing that I will still read it to see if it's the same as the other two... Overrated? Probably.

Just a super easy, enjoyable, quick read, something that’s welcome right now as I’m quite a few books behind schedule, which could have something to do with the off the beaten track sightseeing road trip we recently enjoyed, however the fun is over and it’s back to earnest reading.

A fantastic finish to this 3 book series! I love reading YA so needless to say I was entertained by Penny and Noah’s story, and I was pleased that Penny’s character developed throughout the trilogy, much appreciated in these types of fluffy reads. The author raised some weighty talking points regarding anxiety, fear, and friendship… something a young adult might relate to.

Recommended if you enjoy simple, fluffy, sweet, young adult books.
