As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.
My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.
My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with. I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.
I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters. When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!
I was lucky enough to have received an ARC copy of Love's Trusting for an honest review. First of Maryann you have given us yet another great read. More than five stars! If you loved the Fairfield series trust me when I say you will love this book. All books standalone reads but I will encourage you to read the series. This only builds the love and connection you will have with all the characters.
This story is mainly about Suzanne and Brad/BJ. Suzanne whom we first meet back in Fairfield is a vet tech. We fall in love with her loyalty to her friends. With an smile on her face she hides her past so deep that you would never have thought the things that has our smiling favorite tech has hidden. But when she comes face to face with her past well let's just say sparks fly, tears fall and old hurts are pulled to the surface.
Brad but know as BJ to his friends and co workers is working for Alvarez security doing computer codes and learning the security side of the business. When one meeting puts the love of his life back in his path but things are not as simple as we may want.
When we try to help those around us we sometimes forget that we can place ourselves In Danger and our girl Suzanne does just that. She unknowingly attract the attention of a crime lords right hand man. * you have to read to find out what happens*
This book will have your heart ache, smile and straight want to strangle people. We get one thrilling read with drama, danger, love and some steamy scenes. When you fall in love with your whole heart no matter the time and distance your hearts will find each. Does brad and Suzanne find their hearts? Or will everything they want be taken from them once again? Well you are going to have to read the book to find out the answer to that!
The different aspects of love is what you will get with this series. In this one the author turns into the one that is I think by far the hardest to do. This is also a novel about how two who are given that rare chance at love the second time around. She opens this with the foundation of the two in question then you are transported to a later time. Suzanne is at her friend's and coworker's wedding when once again fate steps in and she meets up with BJ. Being two different people now then they were then both are stunned to say the least. Thank goodness for determination on the part of Brad because this time he is not going to back down and let her go now that she is in his path once again with that next step fighting to keep her there. This author then takes you on their journey with them as they once again fate brings them together. Thanks to a threat that has danger behind it it will start with Brad having to check on her security system. The danger will also involve Suzie because of her nature and two little boys. Helping them will start a string of events that will also be a helping hand in bringing her and Brad closer together. You will be given memories that will come flooding back for a wonderful whole picture of them. The magic and talent this author has to combine a riveting story of intrigue, that kind that at times has you on the edge of your seat filled with characters that breathe the life into it leaves you feeling like you are walking in their world. You experience the kind of love that is raw and passionate that happens between two people and in this case will only get stronger than ever before that will enable them to once again trust each other that will help them overcome and endure whatever comes their way this time. The intrigue part of this novel is also quite fitting, perfect with these characters and matches right in with the caliber of many of the other authors out there who write thrillers with romance. Once you begin this you will not stop until the final page. Received a copy for a honest review.
I loved writing this book. I took teenage, secondary characters from the Fairfield Series and wove their individual characters into the first two books of the Love's Series, fulling intending for them to meet as adults in their own novel. This book is about second chances. Having the opportunity to right the wrongs of youth. Brad (BJ) and Suzy (Suzanne) have to find their way back to each other, with love and mystery along the way. My books are full of secondary characters, some from previous books, some getting ready for books of their own. I loved writing their story and hope you enjoy it as much!
I liked it and I didn't like it at the same time. Too many things bothered me more than the things that I did enjoy. I feel like they still had issues that needed to be talked out and taken things much slower. They seemed to just get over the hard stuff and pick up right where they left off the first time. I would have liked to see them actually do what BJ said they were going to do. They were going to date, as adults. Moving in together, jumping right back into sex, and talks of being together forever isn't dating. I get that they found love at a young age but they're different people now, they're grown, they've lived apart, and that doesn't mean that what worked then will work now. BJ wasn't out looking for her and she was making it a point to avoid him. He went out and slept with countless women to work through his issues, she stayed in a grieving stage and was unable to find happiness in any part of life. These were things that bothered me and should have been addressed and talked out more than they were. They gave up on each other and that trust should have been built back up to not just given back right away like the past few years never happened.
Suzanne, while I did like her for the most part, she was as dumb as a dog. Bad analogy considering they play a big role in this series but that's the best I can give at this point. She's just sooooo stupid, the answers were right in front of her!!! It does not take a highly intelligent human being to notice when something is off, to know that people are scared, to know that someone is being threatened. It's written all over their face, it's in their nervous nature answering simple questions, it's noticeable in their hesitance of not following up reports on a dog they love, it's in your gut feeling telling you that something isn't right with what you're seeing. How could she miss all of that? It's not just us being able to see it because we're the readers and already know what's going on. It's the way that those things were impossible to miss and the behavior of these people suddenly changing from confident and outraged dog owners demanding justice to quiet and nervous, refusing help they asked for and supported just months ago, looking to a man who doesn't look like his nephew for permission to speak. Those things stand out, make you think, and the best she can come up with is that she's just suspicious because something wasn't right and tries to keep it to herself. Then came the suspicious call that she knew didn't add up because of the family's protection, she should have called any of the guys when BJ didn't answer to confirm something was wrong, that was her mistake. She walked right into a trap because she didn't use her head.
BJ was ok but he pushed too hard for something they both weren't ready for. He just threw himself in her life and took over, demanding that she do this and that. He did s lot of telling and expected a lot of following orders from her that Suzanne completely took to right away. She let him control her in every aspect and I don't agree with that. Things that had to do with her safety fine, but every single thing including getting on top of a roof to hang Christmas lights. Is it dangerous? Yeah. Is it stupid because she has no experience? Of course. But it was her decision and no one forced her to get up there, she volunteered. All he had to do was tell her they should have waited because she could fall and leave it at that. There was no need for her "punishment", she's not a child, and he can't control everything she does or she wouldn't be the person he fell in love with.
This book was much more sugary sweet than the last two and almost too picture perfect for me. The only one who put up a fight against their relationship and most definitely had a right to call BJ out on was Suzanne's brother Rob. I had total respect for him after he stood up for his sister even though she stupidly defended BJ. Rob was the only one who took into account that their past was messy and the breakup destroyed her much more than BJ. He seemed to have done just fine on his own. The only reason he even pursued Suzanne again was because she happened to be in the right place at the right time. Had they never seen each other again, I'm sure he would have found someone else in his life. BJ was it for Suzanne, she couldn't move on with anyone else. He could find comfort in others through sex, he could be with other women and not think of her, which I think was Rob's concern and I agree with that. Had he truly loved her enough, he wouldn't have let her walk away without finding what the truth of her decision was. Had he done that, she would have seen that he was in it for the long haul. She just did what she thought he wanted and I can't blame her for that. In her eyes, he let her down once and he could do it again or eventually grow to resent her. I understand why she pushed him away, I don't understand why he pulled away and didn't look back.
I did like the story, the characters not so much. While this one didn't hit any high marks for me, it did set up a story for a new couple in a spinoff series I'm looking forward to. So I'm glad I read this at least once to get the background for Tony and Sherrie. Probably won't read it again, but because I loved the other two so much, I might read it just for Shane, Annie, Matt, and Lily.
MY REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILER-ISH WORDING SO BE WARNED AND STOP READING RIGHT NOW BEFORE YOU SEE WHAT YOU CAN'T UN-SEE.
This is book three in the Love's series. Each book is a standalone but reading them in order will give you background on the characters since they're friends and some work together.
Brad and Suzanne were high school sweethearts who had planned on being together forever. The two suffer a traumatic loss and their relationship ends. Four years later, they're brought together by mutual friends who had no idea they knew each other. It's obvious time hasn't changed the way they feel about each other, and this time Brad isn't going to let Suzanne run without a fight.
I really liked Brad. He's a sweet guy who's protective and kind. He never got over losing the love of his life and will do anything to convince Suzanne they belong together. My feelings toward Suzanne were a little strained. While I understand the reason she was upset and I can imagine it was an extremely emotional thing to happen, her decision not to be honest and talk to Brad aggravated me. They were best friends and sweethearts, and had been for years. How could she not talk to him before making that choice regarding their futures? Further, because she's the one who left, I felt she should have been the one groveling not the other way around. Did I mention Suzanne cries? Yes! All. The. Time. Even Brad mentioned he was going to need to buy more Kleenex.
In addition to the second chance romance portion of the story, we also get a suspense plot centered around dog fighting and catching who's responsible before one of our characters gets hurt.
I see where a new series is being started, the Alvarez Security series. I look forward to reading these stories and finding out if Sherrie and Tony ever get together.
I would give this more than 5 stars if possible. This is a stand alone but these characters were first introduced in the Fairfield Series as teenagers. Brad and Suzy meet again by chance years later and Brad has no intentions of letting Suzy slip away again. Can they overcome the past and have a second chance at love? Besides a love story, this book is filled with suspense, action and mystery. This book kept me on the edge of my seat hoping the bad guys get caught and at times in tears for Suzy and Brad trying to overcome the past and hoping that the past doesn't repeat itself for them. In true MaryAnn Jordan style, she brings in characters from past books we love and has us falling for the new ones that we can't wait to find out more about their story. If you haven't read this series, give this one I try, I'm sure after you read this one you will go back and read the others. I was given an ARC for a fair and honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! It kept me on the edge of my seat while still making me feel all warm & fuzzy inside with BJ & Suzy's story. This is the 1st book of Maryann Jordan's I read and it won't be the last. She has the childhood friends that get a second chance at love when life wasn't so kind to either one when they were split apart. She also has the story of an illegal dog fighting ring going on in the town they live in. It got really intense at times! I literally bit off all of my nails with this one!
BJ & Suzy reunite after they were split up years ago. Suzy has all kinds of walls up because she's tired of getting hurt. BJ knows her has always loved Suzy and spends most of the book proving that love & trying to show her that she can trust him. I loved watching their love grow! I was swooning pretty bad for BJ!
The secondary character were strong also! I know there's a story building from one of those characters; we just have to wait & see! LOL The dog fighting was crazy! It's real! It's relevant! It's heartbreaking! There were times that I wanted to just hug the poor kids that had to bury their pets & throat punch the bastards that put them through that! The suspense & drama was at an all-time high with this book! I loved it!
The best part...NO cliffy & a great HEA!!! I can't wait to read more from Maryann Jordan!
I received a arc copy from the author for an honest review.
Maryann Jordan's sixth book and third in the Love series. She has taken two of my favorite things hot alpha males and second chance romances and rolled them into one awesome book. We met B.J. and Suzy in Emma's Home when they were younger, now all grown up they have a chance meeting at a wedding. Suzy wants to run. Just like she had done years before. this time B.J. known as Brad now is going to chase. With the possibility of Suzy being in danger. This gives Brad the opportunity to spend time with her and convince her that they still have a chance.
Some of the wonderful things about Maryann's books are, they are stand alones but in a series so if you want to know more about past characters they pop up in the most recent book. I love finding out about past characters that I love. Yet if this is your first book you can enjoy it without needing to know what happened to others. The books are filled with suspense, mystery, smoking hot sex scenes and hot alpha men.
Both Suzy and Brad have depth to their characters, as she takes you through what happened in their past to what is happening now. You feel their pain, their love and fear from Suzy of what might happen if she lets herself go back down that path. In between trying to stay one step ahead of the bad guys and trying to deal with past hurts and feelings. I couldn't put the book down. A sigh of deep contentment once I read the final page. Now to wait for the next book.
**ARC Review** This book will pull at your heart strings.
Suzanne is a well developed young woman. She has been through heartache and still is trying to come to terms with it all. She has a deep grief that she will not share with her friends. Her friends have stopped trying to hook her up except for with one man who is a new addition to their group of friends at Alverez Security. When Suzanne finally meets BJ at their friends wedding all hell breaks lose and no one is sure what is going on.
BJ is a strong alpha. He love his new family at Alverez Security. He knows that they are all a huge family but there is one person he has yet to meet. he is not really to enthused because he has only ever loved one woman and lost her 4 years ago. When he arrives at a friend's wedding reception he barely walks in the door when hell breaks loose and all the men want to know why the sight of him caused Suzanne to take off. All he says is they have a past.
Will Suzanne and BJ be able to fix their past or will they never be able to truly love again?
This book is the 3rd in the series and I don’t know how Maryann does it but the men get hotter and hotter with each book she rights.
BJ is an IT in the Security Cop and is Hotter the hell and has never really gotten over his lost love. Suzanne is a Vet Tech and is very close off about her history and isn’t looking to get involved in any sort of relationship When these 2 get introduce and a fellow wedding its nothing but a tense introduction considering they have know each other all there lives. But what their friends don’t know in there are each others lost loves. I won’t go into to many details of this books cause I hate giving storie lines away but it was so heart wrenching reading how this couple reconnect and the issues they have. Maryann always has a great way of incorporating trials and real life issues into her books and with this book the Dog fighting ring that’s involved as hard as it is to read it is happen in the real world. Thank you so much Maryann For Yet another brilliant readxxxxx
Maryann Jordan is such a talented writer. I had the honor of reading an ARC of Love's Trusting and let me tell you she blew this one out of the water! As always Jordan's books can be read as stand alone's however to get the full emotion I HIGHLY recommend reading them all!!!!
Love's Trusting is an insight to a second chance at Love! Such RAW and CONNECTING emotions throughout this book will leave you wanting more. The development of characters and setting are amazing. Brad and Suzy who are introduce in previous books get their chance and the ending is astounding. As I am pretty partial to Jordan's first book "Emma's Home" featuring Emma and Jake (who are so amazing) this has to be my second fave!!!
WOW! Where to begin? I've read every book MaryAnn Jordan has written and each is amazing, but Suzy and Brad's story snuck into my heart as favorite! There will be no spoilers in my review. Why? I'll tell you. It is just too much of an amazing read and I feel you must buy it and be taken into the most sweetly sensual, totally hot, completely ALPHA (which I adore about MaryAnn's characters) love story. You will not be disappointed! Just when I think MaryAnn has given me the best, she completely brings more. I was totally captivated from page one. Thank you again MaryAnn Jordan! You are the best!
I am totally in love with the Love's Series by MaryAnn Jordan so I was excited to beta read Love's Trusting. This book pulls you in the moment that you start reading it. It has everything that I like for in a book and then some. I found myself laughing, crying and I am pretty sure that my heart skipped a beat a few times. I kept wanting more and more. It has love, romance, and suspense. I would highly recomend this book!! It is a 5 star plus read!!! Way to go MaryAnn, you have really outdone yourself this time
She stays alone and untouched for four years and he satisfies his"manly urging". Bull. Didn't like this story at all. Over the top bad guys... please a little credulity wouldn't come amiss. Sad since I usually like this authors work. Got to be more selective in my choices.
Oi. Such a disappointment coming off the other books.
Things I liked:
1. Realizing this whole time that Suzanne and BJ were Suzy and Brad from the earlier series! I don't know why it took so long for it to click (didn't notice until book 2), but I thought it was great to have them reintroduced as adults.
2. Bringing back the old characters from the prior series. I loved having Rob, Laurie, and the rest of them show up again.
3. The . I like this cliche if only because it worked so well with their past. We finally got answers from things we didn't know about in Emma's Home. I just figured it was poorly written since it was her first book, but now it feels like they just needed their own story to get everything resolved.
4. The roof decorating scene. That was just funny.
What I didn't like:
1. The pacing. This felt SO off in how quickly they got back together and resolved their issues. They were apart for YEARS and with a few words they're okay? That doesn't align with her works and felt out of place. Furthermore, it felt like BJ did most of the apologizing when Suzanne was at fault for not telling him things.
2. The crime plot. It wasn't as clear and descriptive as her other books. That's the things I love about Jordan: she always mixes the romance with serious action. However, this was just not done as well. I was more interested in the romance the entire time, which is disappointing.
Overall, it was okay. Not my favorite, but I'm glad they got their happy ending.
This is a story of second chances for Suzanne and Brad. They grew up together and when Suzanne or Suzy and she was know then, turned 18 gave herself to Brad. They suffered a loss and the grief overwhelmed then, Suzanne in particular. She pushed everyone away, her family and most especially, Brad.
Four year later they meet again at a mutual friends wedding and Brad or BJ as he is now known to his friends vows to get her back. No one knows what happened but they know that Suzanne has been very unhappy in the time that they have know her. She and BJ have a lot to work out before they can make things right again.
They story was sad but also one that had hope. Ms. Jordan let us see them back in time through their own thoughts and daydreams. She did this effortlessly and in a way that was natural. These characters could be real, they are flawed, just like real people are. Suzanne is a strong woman but she is also vulnerable and that comes through in Ms. Jordan's writing. BJ is without a doubt and alpha male who will do anything to protect Suzanne. They get their second chance and it was a beautiful story along with some bad guys thrown in for action.
I will be reading more series by Ms. Jordan. For me the sign of a good book is one that I can't put down and one that stays with me. I know I will be reading this series again.
I knew something was up with Suzanne since she only goes home to visit at infrequent times. I just couldn't figure out what it was.
The unavoidable happens when Lily tries to get BJ from Alvarez Security and Suzanne from Annie's Veterinarian Clinic together at Shane and Annie's wedding.
To say that Suzanne's reaction to seeing BJ was surprising is an understatement. Although this is definitely where some of the fun begins, as BJ declares he's not letting her get away again.
As BJ tries to win back the heart of the only girl he's ever loved, owners not returning for follow-up on their pets has Susanne visiting them at home. Unfortunately this is drawing attention to herself and Annie's clinic that she doesn't even realize.
A convoluted and intriguing tale brings us not only to dogfighting and human trafficking but also BJ's and Suzanne's relationship takes off with enough heat to melt your kindle. There's an added bonus of the beginning of another relationship involving Alvarez Security's Tony.
I really the way this series has tied everything together for me.
DNF. Really didn't like the tone of this. Have enjoyed the rest of the series... but this one... no. I am so sick of the so-called hero having sex with some 'loose' woman/girl and then regretting it. It is disrespectful all round. Really? He gets goaded into having sex by his peers. Jesus. Please. I don't know what the big tragedy was... but I can guess. But, for him to go from a) thinking Suzy was 'the one' to b) having sex with someone else to c) having a meaningful chat with his dad about 'the one' to d) obviously winning her back for a period of time. Then... the tragedy obvs. happened. Sigh.
I stopped reading when he demanded entry into her flat to check the security system and him realising that she must still have feelings for him... yeah, right. I mean, I realise that they get their HEA, but I am so sick of these posturing 'alphas' who know what is good for the woman. So, yeah... although I like a lot of Maryann Jordan's books... this was a DNF for me. Soz.
Darn I wish I would have heard of The Love's Series before I read Alverez Security. Now things fell into place.
Maryann Jordan did it again. OMG BJ's book was amazing. Nothing like second chance at love. Five years is a long time to be apart. BJ & Suzanne had a history so when they finally met at Matt and Annie's wedding the shock was too much for her. None of her friends knew what happened, she never talked about anything. She always had a smile on her face but she was always said. For five years she never dated she never got over her first love. I won't mention what led up to her and JB (Brad) breaking up but Suzanne was the one to end it. Then she ran.
The Love's Series is basically a continuation of the first two books, yes different characters but still having Matt and Shane dealing with drug dealers, dog fighting, gangs and unfortunately their women get pulled into.
Great action packed and very tense read but worth the nail biting.
OMG make sure you have tissue close by as you read this one
Miscarriage can either bring a couple closer together or end the relationship. If you don't seek out grief counseling, you may never be able to move past the loss. BJ and Suzanne were just teenagers when she lost the baby and walked away from him. Five years later they run into each other at mutual friends wedding and he finally forces her to deal with it. Although he had been through counseling in college, he finds out that she has been suffering alone. I cried with them for their loss. But once they got past that they realized they still loved each other and never stopped. Now will they be able to face the future together no matter what happens?
WOW! What an intriguing second chance story. It is about BJ and Suzanne. It starts out with these two together but quickly comes with them both parting ways. It was confusing as to why they would break up in the first place. We don't know why until the middle of the story. After 4 years apart, they finally get back together. Then enters the bad guys who abuse both women and dogs. We also get a glance of Tony and Sherrie's first encounter. Once the bad guys are neutralized, we find out BJ and Suzanne are having twins. They also get married and find their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Maryann! I would recommend this book.
DNF! I know this was written before the Alvarez security series, and I hope that the Author has decided to not do this in any of her other works because I love reading her stories, but there are some things I'm really not ok with.
Brad and Suzy have loved each other since their teens, but the pain of a pregnancy and miscarriage when they were so young tore them apart.
Four years later, they meet, and although Suzanne wants to keep running away, Brad is older and wiser and won't let her.
Another macho man claims his woman, but in this series, that's par for the course. Lots of adventure, evil men who run a dog fighting racket, and new friends to get in on the fun.
I like the flow in this book best, the storyline of the first book best, and the second book was just OK.
Loved brad and Suzy’s story. Love forever with some bumps. Suzy thought she was doing him a favor when they were so young. He could not understand why she shut him out. Lily being such a friend thought she would fix up her two wonderful friends. That they belonged together. Little did she know about their past. With some suspense and danger and the help of friends, Suzy and Brad find their way back. A nice story. Loved these two.
After reading the previous books in this series it was nice to finally discover the sadness behind Suzanne's eyes. Suzanne was a lovely, sweet character in all the books it was lovely to see her get her happy ending.
BJ and Suzanne made a great couple, overcoming tragedy and years of hurt to finally find a place to call home. These story's were well written with amazing characters and world built around them.
This was a fast moving, up and down, roller coaster ride of two awesome people getting a second, long over due chance at love and happiness. Oh yeah there was evil working in the background that eventually came crashing down on all. Both the happiness and the evil left you breathless and crying at the end. Bravo. We'll done!
Wow... what a fantastic end to the Richmond Detectives series. I throughly enjoyed reading each of these books. This is BJ and Suzanne's exciting story about rounding up the dog fighter's who are destroying lives of those involved, with their greed for power and money. Brilliant storyline, fantastic characters and a great HEA.
I've always been wondering about what happened to Suzanne in the first 2 books. I'm glad that she had her second chance at love. Amazing story with lots of steamy scenes and some suspense surrounding the vet clinic which ties in with the first 2 books nicely. Fantastic read.
