Fire & Rescue Shifters #2

Firefighter Pegasus

Rate this book
A curvy pilot wary of flighty men + a firefighter pegasus shifter determined to win her heart + a high speed air race with even higher stakes = one explosive romance!

Curvy pilot Connie West hates taking risks. But when her reckless father stakes her beloved airplane in a bet with a ruthless loan shark, Connie is forced to enter the Rydon Cup, a dangerous high-speed air race. To win the bet, she needs a co-pilot she can trust completely. Someone cautious and sensible. Someone completely unlike the gorgeous, wild Chase…

Pegasus shifter and firefighter Chase Tiernach lives life at top speed, but not even his close friends in his elite, all-shifter fire crew can guess that his ready grin conceals a broken heart. Three years ago, he met his fated mate Connie… and lost her again, thanks to his reputation for recklessness.

When Chase unexpectedly rescues Connie from a fire, he’s determined that this time, he’ll win her trust. All he has to do is fight off a gang of criminal shark shifters, defend Connie from a mysterious assassin, convince her to marry him so his clan will let him tell her he shifts into a flying horse, and win a perilous air race in a vintage warplane! What could possibly go wrong?

With enemies who’ll stop at nothing to prevent her from winning the bet, Connie is in danger of losing her plane, her life — and, most frighteningly of all, her heart. Can Chase persuade her to take a chance on him, or will their love crash and burn… again?

Firefighter Pegasus is a sizzling hot, standalone BBW pegasus shifter romance. No cliffhangers!

I liked Connie and Chase a little less than Dai and his mate. But I warmed up to them in the end. I flew through the pages (the writing style is addictive as hell) and I love the the fact that Chase is a black pegasus. I always just pictured him white until it was described. I also loved that Connie called him Rainbow Dash. Looking forward to more!

Wow! This book was so great! I absolutely loved Chase. His boyish charm, his easygoing nature and inner strength was fantastic. I loved how honest and open he was and how fully into Connie he was. He knew she was his mate and he refused to give up on them. Connie was also great. Strong willed, smart and stubborn, she definitely made Chase work for it. This had great banter (especially between all the boys where their love and friendship really shown through), hilarious moments and also some hot scenes. I loved every page and even though I had intended to only read a few pages, I stayed up half the night and read it in one sitting. Excellent writing, great characters, an interesting world created and a beautiful romance. A must read for paranormal romance fans!

3.5 stars.

I enjoyed this one better than the previous, probably because Chase's gregarious personality is so engaging. The fact that he's a Pegasus is also a novelty. It was funny when our heroine saw him undressed the first time and thought he hung like a horse! *giggle*

I think the bad guy is quite obvious to the readers but it does bring some tension to the story. I think I know what Hugh's animal is...… Let's see if I'm right when I read the next books.

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

This is the second book in the Fire & Rescue Shifters. We start off with Connie storming into the backroom of a bar looking for her father. She finds out that her father has bet her mother’s old WWII fighter plane. Then the bar is set on fire, which brings our firefighter shifters to come help. That is when Chase and his pegasus realize that his mate in that building.

Chase and Connie had a thing a few years ago. That is until Connie finds Chase in bed with two other women. She quickly leaves without allowing him to make any explanations (and truthfully, I don’t blame her), but things weren’t what they seem. Chase really wants to win her back, she is his one and only mate, after all.

I really like the development of Firefighter Pegasus. It has a little more depth than the Firefighter Dragon, but is still a light and fun read. I love Connie. She is pretty amazing as she trying to keep her family above water while her father continues to gamble everything away. She isn’t quick to believe Chase, but he does finally win her back. I’m glad that we finally figured out what happen with those women years ago.

This has been a fun series. I love all the mythical creatures that are part of the Fire & Rescue team. I also gotta love the irony that the loan shark that Connie’s father is tangling with is an actual shark shifter (because what else would a shark shifter be?) I love learning more and more about the gang. If you want a quick listen with some unique shifters and a bit of suspense, this is the series for you.

Narration
Lucy Rivers continues to do a great job with the narration of this series. There are several accents of the different shifters (it takes place in England, so Scottish, Irish and British all present). Again, the cast is mostly male, but that doesn’t hold Ms. Rivers back. She does a great job with the larger male cast. I do foresee the female cast continue to grow, as the previous heroine was in this book too.

**I like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Connie and Chase's story is the second in the Fire and Rescue Shifters series. The first book I had a hard time connecting to the characters. This book I found a little better but still felt like I was missing something. The Connie was stubborn and stuck in her ways in regards to Chase. Chase, although he already knows that she is his mate, cannot provide any information to Connie to help explain things that have happened. Chase has a funny personality and doesnt take no for an answer type of guy. There were a couple adult scenes but not too many. I honestly think the reason why I am not really enjoying the books in this series is because everything happens so slowly.

I absolutely fell in love with Chase. He’s funny, witty, a bit bad boy reckless with a heart as big as the sky he flies in. What’s not to love about all that?

Firefighter Pegasus is a bit of a second chance for Chase. He knows Connie is his mate, but for reasons he’s never understood she walked away from him… ram might be more accurate. Now fate has put them together once again, and his damsel does indeed need some rescuing, even if she’s reluctant to take the risk on him again. He’s been tied by the rules of his clan of mystical shifters from telling his human exactly what he is – but to make everything right in her world, and his, Chase will risk everything to keep his love safe and with him.

Connie is strong, independent and just a wee bit stubborn *cough*. She certainly shouldn’t get involved with Chase again, he simply takes far too many risks for her liking. Some of that has to do with the way her father’s always taking risks that end up costing them both. This time dear old dad has gone too far – and the only chance she has of being successful is trusting Chase.

Connie and Chase make a vibrant couple. Their banter, love for each other and the danger they face brings them to life as a believable and enjoyable couple.

I’m finding the Fire & Rescue Shifters series with it’s mystical shifters to be entertaining, action filled with the kind of couples I enjoy. If you love Shifter Romance, this is a series I’d definitely recommend.

I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

4 Beautiful Pegasus Stars

I knew I would love Chase story. Funny and daring, Chase was like a huge blast of energy. His character kind of eclipsed Connie. I did like Connie though. Her steady and careful nature balanced chase beautifully. This is turning into an entertaining shifter series.

Beautiful pegasus.......

I just love these books by zoe. I loved how fun chase is and so very loving and protective. Their story makes you want to find your own shifter to love. I love how Connie and chase could have fun but fight for what they believe in . So now I would love to read about Hugh, he has enough mystery to want to know more.

Love how Chase is so humorous! He and Connie's interactions are fantastic since Chase wants to go full speed ahead in the relationship, and Connie doesn't know if she could trust him. Having Chase and Connie know each other from 3 years ago, was an intriguing plot point!

So glad that John Doe's story is coming out next week!

Series: Fire & Rescue Shifters #2
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

This was another good fated mate's story. Chase is a reckless pegasus shifter who never seems to slow down. Three years ago his mate, Connie, left him and now he finally had his second chance to win her back. I liked Connie. She had a very interesting job. Chase was a bit annoying at times because he really doesn't think things through or really consider other people's feelings before he acts. Overall, this was good but nothing that will stick with me long term.

Hyper colt

I like Chase but he is a lot to handle. He is still a colt in a lot of ways. Adorable but crazy hyper. He needs to be mellowed. That's why I like this story because Connie is logical and dependable. Together they balance eachother out. My only issue was how predictable the bad guys were.

A real fast talker
Such a refreshing read. You can’t help but find yourself entranced by this chaotic alpha male and his cautious mate. They have had a rough time of it due to the machinations of a supposed friend, but in the end the backing of their real friends lead them straight to their HEA. I can’t wait to see what happens with the crew next.

I was on a Sci Fi binge now I am on a Paranormal shifter binge and that is how I came across Zoe's books. Once I find an author whose books I like I will read them all and let me tell you Zoe has a lot. They are quick and easy reads. Some serious some make me laugh but all have danger and fated mates.
I enjoy paranormal stories as they take you away from everyday life and anything goes.

I liked the character, but the book was so obvious it got kind of boring, only his humor made it bearable. As soon as the characters start to get introduced and the problems start, it becomes pretty obvious what's going on, and even if the author tries to push us in another direction and blame other people, with every word and every interaction it becomes more and more obvious who is behind the attacks, who is the real bad guy and who is only taking advantage of the situation.

Like with the previous book, I liked the world and the mythology around the shifters and how it affects the powers and characteristics of the characters, but the predictability of the book took much of the enjoyment out of it.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I bought this on September 5th

This cover is what attracted me to the series!! I love Pegasi and Unicorns!!

This is the 2nd book in the series. I highly recommend reading the whole series! It is too good to miss either book. It is still for adults only due to the steamy content. This one is longer than the first book, but still under 150 pages. It went fast when I was reading it.

This book was hysterical! Chase kept cracking me up! I really love this Pegasus! Connie is definitely a strong woman with what she must put up with from her dad and Chase. There is a ton of action in this book as well as intrigue, but I don’t want to give anything away! I really love this world that Zoe Chant has created, and I hope there is more soon because I have my suspicions about Hugh and want to see if I’m right!!

Zoe Chant is fast becoming an author to be added to my favorites list :) I can’t wait to see what she cooks up next and get through the pile of her books I already own!

I highly recommend this series to all the shifter lovers out there who are into mythical creatures!!

Pegasus who? Pegasus what?

I couldn't wait to dig into this story when it finally arrived. Chase is the funniest but most sincere shifter. He knew without a shadow of a doubt that it was his mate in the burning building. He went it blinded by love. No protective gear to help him breathe that was second to her. Connie never thought she would see Chase again. He's a two timing cheater and although her heart wanted him she couldn't see about getting hurt again. But they had to work together. With her life in danger , family affairs to work out on both sides this billionaire firefighter issues with his job, lone sharks and taverns lurking around who has time to win a bet or loose your wwll plane if you lost the race. I swear to much going on for you not to want and read this book. It's incredible. I'm patiently waiting Griff's story next. Actually strike that. I'm waiting soon the rest of the crew as well. Just please hurry.

Awesome Pegasus shifter romance

Chase is a Pegasus shifter and a firefighter with an elite group of shifters in his firefighter squad. He knew Connie and her father from taking flying lessons from her father. Connie is Chase's mate but she is furious with him because she found him in bed with two women. Her father made a bet with Sammy Smiles (shark shifter) to win a flying race.......the prize the plane called Spitfire. The race is on....

This book has strong characters that are believable (if they're portrayed as nonparanormal), hilarious, and very colorful. So far there are two books in this series. Highly recommended. I hope the author will write more stories of the other firefighters from the squad because this book is so interesting and unique.

This is a fun shifter romance with mystical creatures instead of animals from this world. The firefighters are gorgeous, of course, and when one finds his mate, they have found the only one.

Chase is bubbly, crazy, reckless and a pegasus. Connie is responsible, cautious and a human. Chase has to convince her to marry him or end up spending his life without the love of his life. There are so many things at stake in this book. There is a race, a trophy, a plane, a company and relationships in jeopardy and they all hinge on these two people.

This is a traditional HEA romance and it appears to be stand alone as well as part of a series. I didn't have to read book #1 to read this book.

Exciting love!

I love Zoey's book but this series is seriously enchanting! All the different mythical shifters!? I love it! My favorite as a kid was the pegasus, so naturally I loved this story and its fine details in the winged horse movements and flight feelings. The story was well written and I'm anxious for more. I want to read about all the mythical firefighters, but my interest has also swayed toward the wyvern. What's her story!? I'd love for her story to also be written

I was binge reading and had quite a few of Zoe Chant's books that I had one-clicked and wanted to read, but would always have something else come up. I have to say. TAKE THE TIME AND READ ALL OF HER BOOKS!! They are each unique, some follow a specific group, but each can stand alone and have a happy ending. They are feel good and quick reads! I absolutely loved all her books I have read!

This just wasn’t my type of shifter romance. The whole horse with wings thing didn’t work for me. I love mystical beings, but these shifters just had such distant and overly unrealistic feel to them. I think the extreme insta-love was the deal breaker for me though. I am glad it was offered as a kindleunlimited, but it wont be a series I continue.

Chase is a Pegasus shifter firefighter. He saves Connie from a burning building and realizes she is his mate that ran off three years ago. There are so many twists and turns in this book that it keeps you on your toes. Loved it.

These stories are just fun. What they lack in spice they make up in humor, highjinks and heart.

Read for:
💚Fated mates
🇮🇪Irish MMC
🫂 Second chance rom
🙅‍♀️Dislike to lovers
🦄Himbo Shifter mmc
🤫 Secret shifter society
✈️ Pilot Fmc
💕Low steam, spice is almost fade to black
😂 Great humor
😜Fun, low angst
🚒Sexy firefighters

If Peguses from the Hercules Disney movie was Irish, secretly a shifter, and a firefighter, that would be Chase. A reformed playboy, if you looked himbo up in the dictionary, Chase’s face would be next to it. His chaotic, comedic relief vibes are fun and over the top, but as much as he annoyed Connie, he annoyed me a bit too.

Connie, on the other hand is cautious, practical, mature, and very much emotionally unavailable, with trust issues. She is one badass pilot though, flying her late mothers very rare plane. Frustrated babysitter to drunkard, gambling addict father, she gets in over her head trying to keep dad in line. Enter sexy shifter firefighter brigade to the rescue and the ex she’s spent the last three years trying to forget. She really hates Chase. I like her already.

This is a fated mates, second chance shifter romance, that was not love at first sight. Connie is not a fan of Chase, and I loved that about her. I loved that she wasn’t swayed by his charms; I’m a sucker for a mates story that isn’t love a first sight.

I read a few of these years ago, but they don’t have enough well developed spice for me to enjoy them often. But when I want a fun read with good dialog and humor, and sexy non tradition shifters in uniform? I’ll pick one of these up.

As much as I love a lot of aspects of these books, they are sooo close to the perfect fun read, there are a few issues that make them hard to get through for me. One is the pacing, things often feel a bit rushed. Two, the sex scenes are…not very spicy and and sometimes fade to black, which I forgot about 😫. They lack detail and content, and also tend to happen too early for me in the story, which often kills the story for me, but that’s a personal, demisexual preference. My brain just goes- nope!

Overall if you’re looking for low spice, but a funny, light and quick read, with humanoid shifter firefighters in the UK? Check these out!

Heather's Notes
I finally finished this. I switched to ebook and finished it really quickly. For some reason the narrator portrayal of Chase put me off. Not sure why, but I liked him much better in my head, when I didn't actually hear him. I figure out Killian real quick. I am pretty sure Hugh is a unicorn (although they don't tell you that - I am guessing). Also I loved the ending. Most of the 3 ranking is probably from the narrator but I listening to almost half the book, so unfortunately it gets in. I don't know if it would go up if I had read the entire book. I listened to the first book and liked it just fine.
