As part of the family it was expected that Avery would marry John, even though she had feelings for Zayin. Although both are happy that she didn’t have to marry John, Avery isn’t happy that everything is still a secret because of the boss of the family.
Zayin knows that with the family he has to be careful when he asks for Avery’s hand in marriage and Avery starts to become impatient. Although they have a blissful few days together while the boss Joey is away, that all changes when Zayin sees Avery leaving Joey’s office upset. Avery tries to run from the Rhodes family and Zayin chases her in the hopes to change her mind.
Zayin knows that with the family he has to be careful when he asks for Avery’s hand in marriage and Avery starts to become impatient. This is a wonderful supplement to Love and Corruption! It’s best to read Love and Corruption first. Risk is Zayin and Avery’s story. Worrying about if the “Boss” will accept their relationship is nothing compared to the situation this couple find themselves in. Avery is torn between her love for Zayin and her idea of what’s best to keep her safe, both emotionally and physically. Can Zayin ease her mind? Will he convince her the ‘risk’ is worth it?

Zayin & Avery! Loved them & wish things could be easy for them. Being in the Rhodes family makes everything complicated. Although Avery is suppose to marry John & neither want that, they are happy with other people, things aren’t as easy as they should be for them. You will not want to put this book down once you start.

For being such a quick read, the author really backed a punch. There’s so much that happens in this book that the risk of spoilers is big so I’ll keep it simple. I really liked the relationship between Avery and Zayin. I like the path that the author took with them, and the end result. With suspense and romance; you can’t go wrong. 4 Stars #2OCCJD

I liked this story it’s about Zayin and Avery. They have known each other for years but with John marrying Jane, it’s got Zayin thinking about how he can’t live without Avery. Avery has a even bigger surprise for him then marriage.

Risk is the second book in the Love and Corruption series by Bree Pierce. It could be read as a standalone but as the two stories intertwine I would definitely recommend reading book 1 first. Risk is Zayin and Avery’s story and if you have read the first book you will know that there was some simmering sexual tension between the two but they tried to keep it well hidden from everyone.
Zayin Rhodes is head over heels in love with Avery. She was it for him; no other woman would ever do it for him. Being away from her caused him both physical and mental anguish. He knew if he couldn’t have he that he would slowly die inside.
Avery knew that falling in love with anyone but John Rhodes was not the plan. She was set to marry him but all the time she knew she was in love with his cousin, Zayin. When John announced he was marrying Jane, the hostage of the Rhodes family, she found herself sharing a night of passion with Zayin. Now she finds herself trying to decide if she should stay or run, and being pregnant with Zayin’s baby doesn’t make her decision any easier.
I was really looking forward to reading this story and I wasn’t disappointed. It filled in some of the questions that I had about the relationship between Zayin and Avery from the first book. I really took to Zayin in book 1 I thought although he seemed hard and cold on the outside there was a softer side to him and I think this was definitely shown in this book. He really loved Avery and was willing to try everything he could to keep her happy and to get her to spend the rest of her life with him.
Again this is a short book, fewer than 100 pages, but it’s got everything you need in it, I didn’t feel like it was rushed or that there was anything missing. I’m not usually one for novella’s as I find they are over just as I’m getting into them but I didn’t get that feeling with this book. I really enjoyed it.

Now with John announcing that he was marrying Jane, a hostage of the Rhodes Family, she found herself longing for John’s cousin. Both Zayin and Avery share a night of passion that has changed everything, Zayin can’t stand to be without Avery. There will never be another woman for him. Without her, he might slowly die inside. Avery knows that she loves Zayin, however with a baby on the way and an angry mob boss searching for her, is love really worth the risk of staying?
After reading book one of the series, I loved reading this follow-up novella. Zayin and Avery’s characters are introduced in the first book and their attraction is touched on, however, the intense feelings that they have for one another really shows through in their story. Sometimes when things don’t go the way that they are planned, the end result can be a bit shocking. That is what this couple is dealing with. I love when you get another POV on things that you have read about. It not only gives you a more detailed account, it also gives you more information on the other characters. Zayin and Avery are trying to stay together, however, the world that they live in makes it very hard for them. They are both strong characters and complement each other, however, the danger that they are constantly put in because of who Zayin works for and the friendship between John Rhodes and Avery just won’t go away.
If you have read the first book Love and Corruption you have to read this novella. It has the same fast pace and the story is just too good to miss.

Risk by Bree Pierce. I give this book 5/5 stars. The theme of this book is the bad guy falls for the girl who is like family. This is 1.5 in the Love and Corruption series.
Avery is Jane's friend and we were lucky enough to meet her in Love and Corruption. She was to be engaged to John but she has feelings for Zayin. Her life changed when she gets some news and she tries walking away. The quote I chose for her is when she tries to walk away from everything: “Hey, Zayin. I'm sorry I haven't called you back before now. Things have been complicated. I just wanted to call and tell you that I can't marry you.”
Zayin is the cousin that is important in the family. He has always loved Avery and seeing his cousin be happy is making the green eyed monster appear. His life is changed when he finds out why Avery wants to leave and he sees that he has to choose what he is going to do. The quote I chose for him is John telling him what he should do because he is a good guy: “Zayin, get your head out of your butt. This is your baby and the woman you are in love with. It's not not the end of the world because she's pregnant.”

He finds a woman called Jane snooping around the weapon barrels. He kidnaps her and takes her to his boss who is the head of a mob, Joey Rhodes. She is locked in a room until the boss knows what to do with her.
Joeys son, John hitches a plan to marry her to save her from being hurt, unbeknown to him that he will fall head over heels for her.
In the background is Zayin, jealous of what his cousin John has. He has feelings for Avery , a friend of the family, Avery also bestows feelings for Zayin but both are afraid to ask the boss for his permission for them to be together.
Events throw them together and they share a night of passion which turns their lives upside down. Avery runs away leaving behind an angry mob boss who is desperate to find her and Zayin who is in emotional turmoil . Is there love worth the ‘risk ‘?
I finished the book within a hour – I think it helps to read the first book first so that it helps to understand the background of the story, although it explains the story in parts, I found these parts to be quite choppy.
I enjoyed reading how the other characters that I met in the first book developed.

Since John chose to marry Jane, it meant that Avery was off the hook for marriage and she couldn't be happier because she is in love with Zayin. She just doesn't know if it will ever be possible for them to be together. They need to get permission from Joey Rhodes first, and if he says no, there is no changing Joey's mind.
Zayin knows he loves Avery more than anything, and knows that he needs to talk to Joey, but he has no idea how to even approach Joey about it. He knows he'll only get one shot at making it perfect. He cannot mess this up.

Joey Rhodes is "The Boss" and every decision his family makes, will be run by him first. Whatever Joey says goes, even if they do t like it. Zayin Rhodes is the nephew o Joey, who took him in when he had no where to go. Zayins life know is about Organized Crime, run by Joey " The Boss"
Zayin and Avery love each other very much but if Joey says they can't be together than that's what it will be!!! In this novella we follow along as Zayin and Avery decide that their relationship should be taken to the next level instead of them having to hide how they feel about each other. In the course of this book, there are quite a few different ups and downs that take place. I will say that you definitely need to read Love and Corruption before reading Risk because a few of the scenes that you read in Love and Corruption are shown in Zayin’s point of view in Risk and will make more sense having read the first book to start. Through this book Zayin and Avery do not have an easy way to go at all. Their relationship has more ups and downs than most and a few of the different things that happened to this couple were completely heartbreaking. Watching this couple do their best to overcome everything that was thrown their way as well as remain together and make a life together is an amazing story to read. Ms. Pierce did an amazing job with this novella and I loved getting to see all of the characters again as well as getting to see things from a different persons point of view as well. Zayin and Avery are amazing characters and they definitely work very well together. I hope that if you take the time to read this book that you love it.

Having been trying to keep all their feelings to themselves, not everything is as covert as they thought. When Zayin and Avery are around each other sparks fly. All they can hope is to stay alive and get the permission they need to be together, but when that is in the hands of the boss of the family it can be difficult to get. Not getting a second chance at this they need to make sure they find a way to be together.
Having read Love & Corruption I was so happy to get Zayin and Avery's story. They were both just amazing characters and the way you could feel how they felt for each other in the writing was so great. Not only was the the storyline good, but it was also just so well written. Having a story that you just cannot put down is a wonderful feeling and that is exactly the way it made me.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get the story of Avery and Zayin from Love & Corruption. If you have not had the opportunity to read the first book definitely go grab it now, it will not disappoint!

Zayin had come to live with Joey his uncle as a child. He and his cousin John were more like brothers than cousins
Zayin and John worked in Joey’s fru cleaning business. When Zayin came to live with Joey he became a member of an organized crime family. The brighter side of Zayin’s life is Avery. What started out as friendship had turned into love over a period of time. A love that had to be kept a secret from Joey. Zayin and Avery wanted to get married, but first they had to have Joey’s permission. Zayin was in no hurry to ask Joey in case he made him angry. However Zayin had to tell Joey Avery was pregnant. Angry Joey told Zayin he had to marry Avery and look after her and the baby. Joey also said Avery was to live at the Rhodes house. Avery wasn’t sure she wanted to bring her baby into harm's way. I was so excited to read this book. The first book eluded to this couple and I’m happy that she wrote a book for them albeit a novella but nonetheless a book. Zayin and Avery are a super cute couple. Avery who grew up with the Rhodes family and was set to marry John Rhodes and Zayin a distant cousin who now works for the Rhodes family fall in love with each other but were not able to act out that love because of their situation. But, when John marries Jane, Zayin fights for their relationship. This couple also has some obstacles that they must go through to find their happy ever after. Just like the first book…this story is quick, sweet and steamy! The sexy scenes were hot and were a welcome surprised through all the sweetness in the book. I would definitely recommend this book and series to anyone looking for this type of book. You really do fall in love with all of the characters in this book. There is one particular character that is in both of the books that I hope a book is written for. Let’s see if you can guess who I’m talking about.

This is Zayin and Avery's story.
The Rhodes family has rules and a place for everyone. So when John marries their captive that leaves Avery free now that she is no long let betrothed to him. But that still doesn't mean that Zayin and Avery can be together.
The spinoff of Zayin's story was a fast read. It kept you gripped from page one. You already came in with an idea of their relationship and the troubles but in this story you get a better idea just how hard it can be for a relationship in this business. Avery seems to have a bubbly attitude and she also loves Zayin and isn't willing to take his crap. She pushes him and her strength draws him to her. Zayin was a character that seemed to hide his sadness and frustration well for the most part but it sometimes made him a moody guy. As the story progresses I fell in love with these characters struggles and love story.

This story is short but incredible, it's the story of zayin and Avery who we met in love and corruption. Avery is finally free she was betrothed to John but now he's married Jane his captive she’s able to move on. Zayin is a Rhodes he's joey's cousin so he's in the family business he is completely utterly crazy bout Avery but she isn't sure if she want to be in this crazy world especially when she eventually has children don't get me wrong she has a fierce side to her so she could deal with it but is it worth bringing innocent children's eyes into it. Zayin and Avery have obstacles in the way so can Avery and zayin have a happy ending….
This story may be short but it's steamy and has a lot of depth in it I enjoyed it definitely a page Turner, it has different emotions swirling around the pages and you can really get to grips of the characters different personalities amazing. 100% recommend.

Risk is a novella to be read after Love and Corruption. It makes many references to book one and involves situations and people that were part of Love and Corruption. This story is about Avery and Zayin, who are secretly in love with each.
“She was everything to him; she was the reason he breathed. But no one knew that. Hell, she barely knew it. But she was figuring it out.”
Zayin wants to get married and begin their happily ever after but Avery is still unsure if she wants to be married to the Rhodes family. Because once your in, the only way out is by death.
“But perfect is never meant to stay that way. Even in the most perfect of worlds something happens to mar it. Sometimes it gets twisted into something else entirely; something ugly.”
Something happens to Avery which confuses her even more and makes her decision to leave or stay even harder. Can Zayin prove his love will be enough?
I really loved this story. I love the Rhodes family. This is a series worth reading!

I couldn’t wait to get Zayin and Avery’s story, I knew from the first book that their story was going to be good and Bree Pierce did not let us down with Risk.
In the first book we find out that Zayin and Avery love each other but are afraid that Joey Rhodes will tell them that they cannot be together so they sneak around for any spare minute that they can have together. When John asks Jane to marry him, it leaves Avery off of the hook and gives Zayin hope that one-day they will be able to be together. The only thing that they know for sure is that if Joey says “No” there will be no changing his mind forever. After a night filled with passion, the situation changes and they are forced to make their move now; will everything work out or will they be forced to spend their lives apart?
I loved that we got the whole back-story of Zayin and Avery and that it allowed us to connect with them on a deeper level. I cannot wait for more books in this series!

Risk by Bree Pierce is a story told to us by Avery and Zayin, two characters we were introduced to in Love and Corruption. We did get to know these characters somewhat but not with much background. they do however have their own love story to share.
This story will take you on an emotional rollercoaster! I personally was torn between the two perspectives Avery showed us. She is a very strong woman who has some very hard decisions to make. Zayin is also a very strong character, and it's good to see his softer side, while still remaining loyal to his job and family. Throughout the book you can't help but want what's best for them individually and also as a couple, mostly because I am a hopeless romantic. I would recommend reading this book if you enjoy experiencing a myriad of emotions. I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I did.

Risk is a A Love & Corruption Novella written by Bree Pierce. This is the story of Zayin and Avery and should be read after Love And Corruption as that’s where you get to know Avery and Zayin most. “I can’t do this right now, Zayin. I need some time alone to think about everything. To decide what I want to do and what the right thing to do is. I’m really confused,” she admitted, her face awash with shame.
Avery and Zayin have a complicated hidden relationship. At least they think it’s hidden and until one big secret comes out they are scared to go public with their relationship increase Joey, the boss, didn’t agree. Satin and Avery spend an amazing day together and then suddenly she needs space.
The characters are well written and the story flows great with just enough drama, love and filled to keep you going. It is told in Zayins’ point of view.

Risk provides a different view at the Rhodes family we met in the first Love and Corruption novel. Zayin is a Rhodes cousin who Joey took under his wing when he as a young man, kicked out of his mother's house by an over-opinionated and unsympathetic step father. He loves the Rhodes who have become his only real family, but he's crazy about Avery and she's not sure she wants this life for the man she loves and the family she will one day have.
Risk is a sweet and sometimes steamy love story about family in all of it's messy glory. Bree Pierce paints a sympathetic and tender story of the "bad guys" of the criminal underworld and the women who love them.
I'm not about to go get me a gangster, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this tale of mob henchmen and their women.

This is the story of Zayin (whose name I pronounce Zane and I don’t think that is right) and Avery. We met them first in “Love & Corruption” and I was glad to be able to catch up with them in this story.
Zayin works for his family business. They are distant family, but family none the less. Avery is a close friend of the family and Zayin is off limits to her – UNTIL HE ISN’T.
This is a quick read and I really enjoyed learning more about them both. Neither are what they appeared to be in the first book. He has a heart of gold and is a marshmallow under a tough exterior and she isn’t the princess she portrays. She has insecurities just like the rest of us.
I’m glad that they got their happily ever after.

We first met Zayin in Love & Corruption. Zayin is John’s cousin who is also John’s best friend. Zayin was kicked out of his house by his mother and his jerk step father; after struggling on his own for a few years we find out that Joey brings Zayin to come live with and work for him. Zayin has been in love with Avery but afraid to ask Joey for the right to marry her. Avery is desperately in love with Zayin but if he does not voice his want for her soon, she is afraid she will not be able to stay and wait for him. Will they both lose the love of their lives or will they take the next step in claiming what they want? This was a really quick read but it gave us a great insight into Zayin as well as Avery. I loved seeing the softer side of Zayin and learning more about his past.
