A new threat to the elementals emerges that puts everyone Tan cares about in danger.

After the most recent battle, the Mistress of Souls is missing and Tan must find her before another attack. With Amia’s pregnancy changing the connection between them, Tan fears involving her and must rely on new friends, including a strangely intelligent draasin hatchling for help. Worse, an old enemy has returned, one surprisingly welcomed by Theondar.

A darkness nearly destroys his draasin friend and reveals the true threat to the elementals. To save them, he needs to understand the secret of this darkness, one that leads to a surprising realization about the defeated Utu Tonah. Tan risks everything to stop it, but even after everything he’s been through, he still might not be enough.

This was another good read from Holmberg, but I felt just slightly disappointed. There wasn't as much action as I'm used to in the series, and this book felt like it was setting up the conflict for the final two books of the series.

Still an entertaining read, though.

Another good read in the Cloud Warrior Saga

Holmberg continues the story of Tan as he searches for answers as he becomes the Shaper of Light. Fast-paced and intriguing. Looking forward to More if the story.

Ron Howard you need to read this series!

If only you could see the movie played out in my head. What an adventure. It's almost over, but what a ride it's been.

I have been enjoying the series with all it’s twists and turns. All the characters, humans and creatures are such an integral part of keeping the story alive.

What a comeback!

Thanks for this great continuation to an already amazing story. Ok so book 8 was a bit slow and repetitive but it did introduce a new twist to the story which had potential. Book 9 started off just as slow with the main character continuously questioning his decisions and mulling over the same problems. Few other characters are present in the first chapters and almost nothing noteworthy takes place. Towards the middle of the book though, things started to pick up and that's when i got glued to the pages. This sequel is packed with action and new characters. Lot's of questions are answered and many more emerge. Can't wait for November and Book 10.
