Traditionally, parents of alphas and omegas try to pair their children off young. It’s thought to be safest all around, and seventeen-year-old alpha Ben never questioned it. He hadn’t, that was, until his parents shoved him into a room with an omega named Tyler who was clearly too young to claim.
Ben did the right thing. He refused. He walked out of that room, told his family off, and accepted the consequences of that decision. After graduation, he left his family’s home, never to return.
Ten years later he takes a job in sunny San Diego. This might be the paradise he’s been dreaming of. The job pays well, the weather is perfect, and the apartment is in an exciting part of town. His neighbor turns out to be a super-hot runner who makes people-watching from the window a true pleasure every morning.
Except Running Guy isn’t just a pretty face. He turns out to be Tyler, the omega Ben walked away from ten years ago, and his life hasn’t been sunshine and roses since Ben left. They can’t deny their attraction for one another now, and it seems like they both have a second chance at love and happiness.
A wealthy omega real estate developer, however, threatens to make that second chance as disastrous as the first. Richard has his heart set on being claimed by Ben – and dead set against the social service agency where Ty works. Can Ben and Ty make their new love last?
This is a non-shifter male pregnancy gay romance book. This book contains sexually explicit content not suited for those under the age of 18. The book is approximately 50,000 words, has a happy ending and does not end in a cliffhanger. The book does include a bonus chapter for insider's club members. However the bonus chapter is not required to finish the book.
I always love Aidens Alphas and Omegas. Ty and Ben both turned out successful even though their families were horrible. Especially Ty's who tried to get him mated at 14. Just disgusting. Ben is honorable and tries to do the right thing even when he was a teen and was told to mate an unwilling Omega. His family pretty much disowned him. So wrong. I'm glad they became neighbors. I love stories where fate intervenes and actually fixes everything.
Really great story, but the writing was so dull and boring it came across depressing.
I wanted a touch of angst for all the shit that these two guys went through - then a little romance high when they fell in love - and definitely more steam during sex.
The villain came across like a cartoon character. But kudos to the author for making an omega a bad guy.
I liked the 2 main characters and would have liked a bit more heat between them. The "bad guy" was a very aggressive Omega which is different from most books of this genre I've read.
This was a rather disjointed read for me, in all honesty. I felt there wasn't enough build up to the romance for me to care about the main characters and the villain was a ridiculous caricature.
I purchased this book four years ago, back in August 2016 and I'm just getting around to finally reading it. Boy am I sorry that I waited! The storyline and characters were unique, entertaining, and likeable. While most were likeable there is definitely a villain, who designation is surprising especially in light of his shocking behavior. This book was aptly named. Reuniting many years after a horrible encounter is not easy. Expectations not readily accepted. Genuine remorse questioned. Disgust shown at the callousness of believers in archaic rituals in particular parents.
This book could be easily have been called a Fresh Start. The traumatized young victims had a lot to work through, overcome, and forge ahead to set their lives on the right track. Being optimistic about the future is difficult when life remains challenging. Yet despite heart pounding dangerous situations, a beautiful flower is finally a welcomed gift.
Very refreshing story with two leads that actually talk to each other. Id rather have a over the top villain than the overused misunderstanding trope. Besides over the top villains are recurring characters in all Aiden Bates books (if you wanted to have "realistic" villain maybe you shouldnt read a mpreg omegaverse story, just saying).
Ty and Ben fell in love very fast and it was sweet how they didnt fight it more than necessary. I liked the flow of the story and even though I KNOW it has a HEA, I was stressed for Ty. Its so cute that they call the baby Bean though
Anyway, enjoyed the read a lot, and everytime I feel like Ive read every Aiden Bates book, I seel to find a new interesting one! I would have loved a story about Stuart (with Musa maybe wink wink), the kid deserves a HEA as well
Sam thinks he has everything he wants in life but everything changes in a second and he loses everything except her best friend. Adam has always loved Sam but seeing that he doesn’t have the same feelings for him, he just stands up being his best friend and helping him whenever he needs it. I like Adam’s unconditional friendship towards Sam. No matter what, he is always there for him. He is intelligent, caring and a good person. The book is well-written as always.
Aiden Bates has become my favorite author for m/mpreg romances. As each new book is written, more realistic incidents occur, endearing the characters to your heart. Though male pregnancy is fantastical, the story itself deals with domestic violence and finally figuring out that you have always loved your best friend and your best friend loves you back. It is a must read for Aiden Bates fans.
This book had a lot of great things going for it. It was a story where, for once, the characters really communicated and talked things out instead of letting things fester or causing the silly misunderstandings of so many stories. Ty was also a great character, intelligent, giving, loving, and committed. I loved the parts that concerned his work with the kids at Gray House, the private social services agency he worked at. His dedication to his work and the kids really helped flesh him out as a character. Ben felt like a strong, down-to-earth, rock-solid kind of guy. He loves his omega and his unborn child and feels fiercely protective of them. His response to the unexpected pregnancy was written perfectly and just encompasses all the great aspects of his character. The drama of the story is more about external things than anything in their relationship. This isn't really a true "second chance" story in the strictest sense. Their former history was so brief that no words were even exchanged, although in the beginning of the book they have to work through the resentment that Ty carried toward Ben for something that wasn't his fault. They are able to move past that and make an incredible couple. The mpreg has some sweet moments but not a lot of details--no morning sickness or swollen feet, etc. The moment in the delivery room is special and a nice end to the story. This is one of the better non-shifter mpregs that Bates has written to date. My heart is still with the wolfy ones but this one was really a nice read.

Traditionally, parents of Alphas and Omegas pair their children off young. Seventeen-year-old alpha Ben refused the under age Omega they wanted him to force himself on. He left his family’s home, never to return. Ten years later he takes a job in sunny San Diego. A wealthy Omega real estate developer threatens to make that second chance as disastrous as the first.
*explicit content* Tyler was forced on the streets at fourteen, after Ben refused to mate with him. He had to fight for everything he wanted and needed. He is working at the same place that offered him shelter when he was on the streets. Having Ben move in next door comes at a very bad time. Tyler is working full time and has a full load at college. Ben only wants to talk with him, never realizing what happened to Tyler. They want to get to know one another but Richard has decided Ben will claim him and will not take no for an answer. The situation is even more difficult because not many suits have been filed for an Omega harassing an Alpha. Ben and Tyler have a great relationship, spending time to get to know one another and being honest about their feelings. Lots of tension, drama, and suspense to keep the story running along.
This time, they’re ready… I really enjoyed this aptly named book, Ty and Ben’s story was a fun and entertaining read. Ty, an omega who has built his life working with at-risk youth after being cast aside by his family, finds himself living across the hall from Ben, the alpha who unwittingly changed the course of his life when he refused to claim Ty despite their families’ efforts. Explaining that his decision was based solely on their youth at the time, and that he’d been completely unaware of consequences Ty had endured, I could appreciate how honestly they communicated as they reconnected as adults. As their relationship developed, that honesty served them well, and I loved that their response to each new development was to take it to their partner to be openly addressed. It also struck me how supportive Ben’s supervisor at work was as Hartmann’s efforts to pursue him escalated, and found myself shaking my head at how persistent Hartmann was despite the very clear message he was sent. There’s something so overtly sleazy about this character that I found myself tensing up at every scene he was in, bracing for whatever was coming out of his mouth next. If you’re looking for a non-shifter mpreg, with alpha and omega characters who don’t quite fit the stereotypes, this is a great choice… Please note that I received a complimentary advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The blurb is what caught my attention, and it didn't let me down. I am not saying it was one of Aiden's best works, but it was enjoyable. It was a typical non-shifter mpreg book, but it was a nice break to read something so familiar.
Ty and Ben's story is archetypal in the sense: Insta-love, accidental pregnancy, person the causes conflict and then the HEA. Even though everything was predictable, the suspense was a bit fun.
Only two things bothered me. One being that we never find out who the accomplice is. Two being we never find out who the Alpha was that went to Gray House 17 years prior; thus somewhat being the start of all of the craziness.
On a different note, it would be nice to have Stuart's story. Maybe ending up with Musa?! Just a thought :)
I thought this story was well written. Ty is an omega who was abandoned by his parents because he was not claimed by ben. Ben is a alpha. His family did not want him because he did not claim ty. Ben and ty meet years later and after explaining why he did not claim ty. They fall in love then ty falls pregnant. A deranged omega wants ben so the omega tries to kill ty but he failed to kill ty. Then he goes and tries to get ben to date him but he fails to get ben to date him so he gets angry and admits to ben he lit the fire that nearly killed ty he gets arrested and sent to jail. Ty gives birth to their daughter rose. Ben and ty live happy ever after. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I would read it again.
This was a really good story that had some interesting twists. Usually the Alpha is the one that pushes the Omega, in this story Ben walked away from a situation that was wrong. The omega was to young and it did not sit well with him that they were forced together. Ben was different then the other Alphas this author writes about, he was not set in the old ways and could see things that were wrong with the normal perceptions of Omega/Alpha relationships. Ty was a great character also, he rose above his past and become someone others looked up to. He had a big heart and the two men made a great couple. This story had some interesting twists and was a great quick read. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Finally a story where effective communication was practiced consistently. There were no instances of communication between Ty and Ben. Both were strong and capable and together they were building a future. Outside forces were determined to make a wedge but communication was the key. Ty's reaction to being pregnant was nicely and realistically done, as well as Ben's. Overall, this was a pretty good story. I received a free advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
I hadn't read much none shifter Alpha/omega before,so this was a bit different for me, (I've since read quite a bit, and love it). Ben and Tyler have acrimonious history that changed Tyler's life irrevocably, so when they meet up again a decade later sparks and recriminations are going to fly and they do! Just as we think they are getting somewhere introduce the bad guy, a particularly spoilt and over privileged Omega with a bad attitude and things change again. We get a good ending and if subscribed to Aiden Bates' newsletter There's a bonus chapter as well.
I'm not typically a "review" kind of person. I have read everything I could get my hands on from Aiden Bates and I quite enjoy his style of writing. The only thing I felt was missing was the angst and pain. I finally got that in this book! I could connect better with the characters and found myself smiling as tears were rolling down my face. The story was hotter than usual, along with the hurt, I couldn't give him less than 5 stars. Keep it coming Aiden.
I enjoyed this book from the first page all the way 'til the end. Started strong and kept building. The MC's were both very likeable and although they had some history that was painful for Ty it didn't keep him and Ben from getting to know each other in the present and not letting the past prevent them from falling in love with each other. Very enjoyable read......I would definitely recommend giving it a chance!
So good! I put off reading this book for quite a while, because I find 'second chance' stories to often be filled with angst and drama. I'm so glad that I finally read it, because it was nothing like I had feared! Ty and Ben actually TALKED about their feelings and concerns. The drama was from an outside source, and both characters worked together, and asked for help when it became a problem. I wish all second chance stories could be this satisfying!
I liked this story so much! I wanted to punch one character every time I saw his name pop up...so irritating, frustrating and scary. The love between the main characters, the support they have from co workers and the crazy omega all make for a great, nail-biting, hot, amazing must read.
The "bad guy" element was a *tad* overdone IMO. Knocked it down half a star. Liked Ty and Ben. A bit insta-lovey, but within the world Bates created, it seemed common. It's a bit jarring to see alpha/beta/omega used outside of a shifter context but I liked the mpreg verse the author created.
This is another good story from Aiden. I have read many of his books and they are well developed. I like the characters of this book. I'm looking forward to the next book.
