Lieutenant Commander Charlie St. Croix is the guy in charge, the grownup in the room, the one who always does the right thing. Until now. He’s left his SEAL platoon behind for two weeks of downtime in the Caribbean. What better way to recharge than with Audra Reed, a hot redhead who's a self-confessed adrenaline junkie?
The Saint's ready to raise some hell. But is he ready to leave his heart behind?
USA Today bestselling author Kat Cantrell read her first Harlequin novel in third grade and has been scribbling in notebooks since she learned to spell. What else would she write but romance?
When she's not writing about characters on the journey to happily ever after, she can be found at a taekwondo tournament, watching Big Bang Theory or dancing with her kids to Duran Duran and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Kat, her husband and their two boys live in North Texas. She was the first Harlequin So You Think You Can Write winner and a former RWA® Golden Heart® finalist for best unpublished series contemporary manuscript.
If you have read any of the authors ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights books, you will know who Charlie St. Croix is, and this novella gives you the information behind his decision to leave the SEALs, and start up Aqueous Adventures, with a few of his SEAL brothers.
This prequel novella takes place roughly a year before the first full length novel from Kat’s titles in the series.
"I’m on leave, and in two weeks, I’m going to disappear into my job again. There’s not much room in my life for a woman who needs a man underfoot…"
The thing is Audra Reed, doesn’t need a man underfoot, on vacation herself, she’s only looking for a few weeks of no-strings, scorching hot sex, and that’s exactly what she gets with Charlie.
"If you think I am the kind of guy who likes a woman to talk dirty to him… You’re absolutely right."
But over those two weeks, sex deepens into something else for both of them, and all of a sudden saying goodbye without talking about a possibility of a future seems oh, so wrong.
"I want your hands on me."
This is a quick read, but the author packed a lot into it, now knowing why Charlie chose to take the life path he did and his reasoning’s for it, makes me all the more eager for his book; Redeeming Her SEAL. After finishing this little interlude into his and Audra’s first meeting and subsequent weeks together, I cannot wait to see what type of reconnection and romance the author gives them.

****3. Commanding Her SEAL (ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights Book 3) 4 stars Good on its own but out of sequence in the series's timeline. I purchased a copy of the steamy military connected novel Commanding Her SEAL (ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights Book 3): Charlie and Audra as well as the bonus novella Rescuing Her Seal by Kat Cantrell and this review was given freely. Good on its own but out of order in series timeline. This short novel contains many steamy scenes expressing the strong attraction between college marine doctoral student Audra Reed and Lieutenant Commander Charlie " The Saint" St. Croix as well as relaying the history of their broken families and ultimately introducing the characters of the series. I would have loved to read this book first as it features Charlie while he still has one year left in the Navy, is still good friends with the billionaire resort owner Jared Anderson, and Aqueous Adventures is only a thought occurring in the last chapter. Looking towards retirement after ten years in the Navy SEALS, estranged heir to a billion dollar cell phone/communication's company, Lieutenant Commander Charlie " The Saint" St. Croix takes a solo two weeks vacation at his buddy Jared's Duchess Island resort in the Caribbean to cross off items on his bucket list while planning his post military career. However, meeting Audra Reed and her fifteen year old brother Isaac on his first excursion causes him to reassess his plans. Confusing as this book is advertised as book 3 but really is the introduction plus it skips over books 4 and 5 jumping right into book 6.
Commanding Her SEAL is the prequel in the Caribbean Nights series written by author Kat Cantrell. This book also contains another novella, Rescuing Her SEAL.
Crazy hot and sexy this book grabs you from the beginning and doesnt let go. With 2 weeks off from his Navy SEAL job to unwind, relax and knock some things off his bucket list Charlie St. Croix is in the Bahamas at an old friends request and immediately finding it everything he needed and more. Especially when the gorgeous red head jumps aboard last minute on the same parasailing adventure he is on.
Audra is in the Bahamas, off from school for 2 weeks before finishing her doctorate. With plans to swim with the dolphins she has been studying for ten years and some much needed R&R she doesn't have time for relationships. Men in her life have proved they just leave, but a fling on the islands with a sexy as hell SEAL is just fine with her. And in two weeks they will each go their own way, no worse for wear. Or can they? Both Charlie and Audra are determined not to become emotionally involved. What will happen when the 2 weeks is up and both are feeling the pain of seperating?
His team call him the Saint his name is really Lieutenant Commander Charlie St. Croix. He is the grown up in the room and always does the right thing. He left his team for two weeks downtime him the Carribbean. To recharge and he meets Aura Reed that is a hot red head who is a self-confessed adrenaline junkie with her little brother. They start doing things together when time to go their own way she feels him to come back. He comes back to start a business but her brother moved with her and got killed. Saint decided she would be better off without him after he had an accident. Saints best friend started dating because he help after her brother died. The friend became enemies.
I almost feel like this book should have been the first in the series but I can see why the author waited until you were hooked, to see how the Aqueous Adventure idea began. I'm a little sad at how Charlie & Audra ended but excited to see how that story picks up next. I think this book in particular is the perfect vacation read, but honestly the whole series is worth it. As far as Romance novels go this is a pretty great series and I'm glad I discovered book 1 for free on Amazon.
I could just see in my mind's eye the beautiful Caribbean scenery being described. Some I wonder if it really is there or just part of the author's imagination. This book would probably qualify for another star except for two things... first, way more explicit sex than was necessary for this moderate romance. The other issue, that I hate the most, a cliff hanger. The entire series is one of those!! so I have decided not to waste any money to continue.
It's a pretty good book with explosive sex and sweet romance, but no happy ending because it's a cliffhanger.
A SEAL on vacation at a friend's resort meets "the perfect woman" . She's a PHD student on break with her younger brother. She is working on her thesis, which is due in the near future, and is studying dolphins. While they both agree to a fling, his heart gets engaged and he still has a year in his enlistment. And that's where you get left hanging.
This author knows how to keep the reader interested. The stories surrounding the lives of DEALS this commitment to making sure everyone is safe and their own personal lives which includes fall in in love. Another great book by this talented author will continue to follow.
Charlie is a Navy Seal. Audra is a marine biologist. They have two weeks to get to know each other before they both go back to jobs. They decide to do their "lists" It includes lots of pleasurable sex.
The downside to this book is it is a cliffhanger. I hate them. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars because of that. So I gave it more.
I liked getting the back story on Charlie and Audra. How they met and what happened to them. I read the first two books in this series and this book gives some clues as what happened to the team. Now I am looking forward to finding out if Charlie can get his woman back. I would recommend this book to military romance readers.
This book is a wonderful way to escape from a dull average day. Wonderful characters, passion galore, and a wonderful story line.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance with action.
My Wife love this book couldn’t wait to finish can’t wait to get to the next. The characters were great kept me enthralled. With just a little bit a mystery that keep you wondering where it’s going next.
Audra and Charlie had a two week fling before his last year as a Seal. Things happened and coming back had its issues. Things don't always turn out like you want them. Highly recommend reading. On to the next book.
Very disappointed that it doesn't have an ending, which I already read, but Cantrell is a genuine wordsmith that knows how to bring characters to life and how to draw a reader in. Clean editing and such great character development make for a truly enjoyable read.
I loved this novel. It does not leave on a cliff hanger but rather a promise to each other. The love connection as well as the tension between the pair (especially in the first few pages) is explosive! Love the characters, and looking forward to reading more about them.
