This is a good blend of information about the farm (from seeing a farmer cut the wool off of a sheep to defining duckling's soft, fluffy feathers as "down") and a focus on baby animals and their mothers.

Summary
Basically the books is all about a day on the farm. First it shows the rooster and how it wakes everyone up. Then it shows mother hen and how she sits on the eggs and then chicks come out. Next there is mother duck with her ducklings and mother goose with her goslings. The it shows how they swim with their webbed feet and the different feather the ducks get as they get bigger. Then it shows how mother gooses gets grass and weeds with her bill and it shows her wings. Next is the cows and the farmer milking them. Then shows other animals like goats, sheep, pigs and what they eat. Then it shows some of those animals babies. Also, it shows cats and her baby kittens and some mice. Then it shows some of the activities the baby animals like to do such as the piglets in the mud and the lambs jumping with their hooves. Also, it shows the horse and ponies and what a mane is. Then it shows how the sheep dog helps the farmer round of the sheep to cut the wool off the sheep. Then it says how it is dark and the farm is quiet because all the animals are going to sleep.

We used this book as part of our lesson about onomatopoeia. It has lots of pictures of real life animals. It also tells the names of many baby farm animals. From the rooster's crow to the babies going to sleep, there is a lot going on on the farm.

My favorite part was when all the baby animals were born. I like the chickens and the goats and the kittens.
