Heat is by Opal Carew.

Rikki is a photographer just trying to get started. She has just moved to Muldona, Virginia to be near her college best friend, Cassie. Cassie wants to help her get started so proposes a sexy calendar of the local firefighters to help to raise funds. But Rikki is very cautious of firefighters. Several years before, she had been engaged to a firefighter but he was killed.

The night before she is to start the project, she goes out with her new roommates and feels a strong electrical attraction to not one but two men sitting at the bar. How could this even be possible? Her intuition has never led her astray before but this time, it must be the stress of living in a new city.

Sexy Firefighters ...:

Simon Davies and Carter Fenn are best friends, roommates, and both are fire fighters. They have shared women before but neither have ever experienced this deep attraction to another woman. They’ll do whatever needs to be done but they will make her theirs.

female photographer:

Rikki had been saving herself for her now deceased fire fighter so who could have ever guessed that when it’s time to give up her “V” card, it would be to not one but two over the top sexy firefighters. But she had made herself a promise after she lost her fiance. That she could never withstand that sort of pain again. That ALL fire fighters were off limits.

First, I want to say that the last book I read of Opal Carew’s I was over the moon for. But this one didn’t work for me as well. Although I don’t want to demean the pain that Rikki still carries for her ex, to me she came off as a bit whiney.

firefighters:

Let’s also talk about when she and Simon and Carter go the distance. The sexy times in this book were scorching hot. But, wow, once Rikki crossed the bridge, she was insatiable. I mean, this woman was like a sex machine. Lucky for Carter and Simon I guess. And I didn’t like her constant indecision.

All in all, this was a super sexy, quick, fun read. I just had trouble really falling for Rikki. I still do love this author and hope to read plenty more of her books in the future.

Pretty hot read! 3.5 Stars - copy received for review consideration
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you're looking for a lovefest this is the book for you. A hot little MMF ménage with delicious firefighters that will heat you up - As long as you can get over some of the idiosyncrasies that the author chose to give the female lead.
A cute little virgin that hangs on to the past for years and yet takes to hot sex like a true professional.
The guys- totally yummy.
The sex- super hot and loaded with it.
The story- entertaining yet a bit off base from what Opal usually puts out.
Overall – The guys make it worth the read.
Not sure what to think.
The plot sounded good, however, the book fell flat.
Girl's first love dies when she's 17yrs old. After almost a decade, girl moves to a new town where one of her college girlfriends lives to start over. College girlfriend hooks her up with a photography gig....then the story falls apart.
Some kind of sexual intuition kicks in whenever Virgin Girl sees a hot guy. Even though she's NEVER had sex before she's sucking cock like a porn star and has mastered talking dirty. She doesn't want to be with another Firefighter, yet ends up with two. She takes to sex like a duck to water and doesn't even bat an eye at double penetration.
The story was a little to cheesy for my taste, not to mention the overuse of the word cockhead.
Sorry folks, not a fan.
Not too sure about this one. As much as I enjoy steamy books, I like the ones I read to have a plot to them. The plot in this one was basically sex and more sex.
Each time I thought there was gonna be more to the story it reverted back to sex. I also didn't like the constantly changing point of views.
So over all I'm only giving this 3 stars because it kept my interest enough for me to finish it.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Rikki was in love with Jesse and had planned to give him her all until he died three weeks before her 18th birthday. Needing a fresh start, Rikki packed up and moved away, and with the help of her college buddy Cassie found a place to live and was able to work using her passion for photography. Cassie has a job and thinks that Rikki is perfect for it - she needs a photographer for the firefighter calendar. Rikki is reluctant at first as Jesse was a firefighter. Before her first meet, Rikki goes out with her new roommates to a bar. It is at the bar that she captures the attention of not one but two guys Simon and Carter. Rikki feels instant attraction with the both of them and starts to step out of her comfort zone. However, though she is happy to give herself to both of them. They are nice guys and don't want to take advantage of her. She heads home feeling a tad embarrassed. The next day though she will discover that they are both firefighters. The one type of guy she was hoping to avoid as she can't put herself through the same hurt she felt when she lost Jesse. Can Simon and Carter persuade Rikki to give them a chance? What happens though when she starts to get cozy with them and then tragedy happens, and she nearly loses one of the pairs? Will this cause Rikki to withdraw and put her walls back up or will they show her that no matter what happens, she will never lose them and that through their job comes with risks, sometimes in life, we all need to take risks, and sometimes the risks are worth everything in the long run?
I had mixed feelings on this one unfortunately and normally I am a big Opal Carew fan but this just didn’t work for me.
I think if you have a serious thing for firefighters then this could be the novel for you! For me it was quick to read but I had wished Carew hadn’t made Rikki so inconsistent. She starts off as very shy, naive and a virgin and then she loses her virginity in a threesome with Simon and Carter (which was somewhat believable as this is a ménage story) but then she is suddenly a master at dirty talk, giving head with no direction, and doesn’t even blink an eye at double penetration. This from the girl who days ago was blushing head to toe at just seeing a naked man’s torso.
Okay...sorry but that just does not work for me on any level.
The author could have made Rikki more experienced but kept the idea of
I think the thing that really killed it for me was that I normally enjoy a good ménage but I actually felt like I would have loved this a lot more without Carter’s presence. He just didn’t really add anything for me and I felt like Rikki and Simon had a real connection.
Overall this was disappointing but I am still a fan of Opal Carew and will read whatever she releases next!
Mixed feelings with this one.
The story starts with the heroine moving town to start a fresh after heartbreakingly loosing her fiancé. She comes across socially awkward super shy and a little Naive but sweet. What I didn't understand nor connect with is how she went from a virgin to a seasoned porn star after the first time she had sex. Now yes it happens in books a lot but the way it's wrote just comes across very unbelievable. Also the whole kissing two other guys while realising her love for simon and carter confused me, it also annoyed me because she didn't really seem apologetic for it either.
Simon and Carter are super hot super cute and very honourable on there first encounter with Rikki. However I just didn't connect with them either I don't know what it was but the characters didn't sit right with me. There constant back a forth feelings, the whole Simon's staying away to protect her I don't know it just felt unrealistic and I didn't dig it.
The story is good the charters are ok and the sex is done pretty great with the exception of some cringy words like "canal" not sexy in my opinion lol!. I enjoyed it ok but just didn't connect with it enough to love it. It's not something I'd regret reading but also not something I'd pick up again in a rush.
I'm a big Opal Carew fan and I love most every thing she writes but I am on the fence about this one. While I love that it was set in Virginia, where I live, I just couldnt connect to the character Rikki. The story was good and the sex scenes hot as h@*&. I hope to read more from Opal.
This is way too cheesy for my taste. It feels like an extra cheap porno what with the harem of "perfect" white cis guys and the blushing virgin who somehow can't think about anything else but undressing everyone. I was fine when it was just a threesome; I could handle that. Then three other guys were introduced and I had to put on the brakes on this obvious fantasy.
While I really hate giving bad and/or totally negative reviews, in this case, the best thing I can say about this book is that I forced myself to finish reading it.
When I first read the blurb about a 17-year-old girl losing her first love, a 24-year-old fireman, in a fire, and remaining a virgin until she finally moves to a new town and starts over, begins pursuing a career as a photographer, whose first gig is creating a sexy firemen calendar, it sounded interesting. Sadly, it was all downhill from there, and gets a one-star rating from this reader.
First night in a new town and Rikki (the heroine) goes to the local pick-up bar with her former college girlfriend, where she is picked up by not one, but two very sexy men. She gets a "feeling" every time she touches the right man, or in this case men, so this shy virgin, getting more drunk by the minute, goes home with them. At least they have enough honor to realize she's too drunk to make this decision, but when she sobers up in their apartment the next morning, it's game on, and the innocent, never been touched virgin, decides to lose her virginity to both men, she's suddenly adept at fellatio, can't stop the dirty talk, and loses her virginity to both extremely well-hung men without even a twinge of pain. Give me a break! If my eyes had rolled any further back in my head, I'd have been able to see behind myself.
The next day she goes to the firehouse and it's no surprise that both men, Simon and Carter, are firefighters there. That's when the waffling begins and it doesn't let up at all. Most of it consists of "I can't fall in love with a firefighter because Jesse (her first love) died in a fire, but I love them both, oh my, what shall I do?" If the author had left Rikki's age at 17, this infantile, inner debate might have been more believable, because at 26, the whole insta-love plot line, when they've all had way more sex than learn anything about one another, might have been more than laughable. The men are in insta-love with her too, except what they're really in love with is the fact that their little virgin is ready and willing to have sex with them, in any position at any time, anywhere. Rikki barely bats an eye when they suggest double penetration to this newly deflowered virgin.
I've read a lot a erotic romance over the years, and there are some wonderful writers in the genre, who somehow manage to include a plot and backstory that makes you care about what happens to the characters. I'm fairly new to this author, but after finishing this book, I realized that it was little more than one sex scene after another, none of them particularly titillating, and held together with almost no plot, no character development, a thready backstory (only about the heroine, there no backstory on the two men), and not much else. The heroine was too emotionally immature to be taken seriously and all of the characters behaved as if they were still in grade school. I'm sorry to say that this book was a total miss for me, and I highly recommended passing it by.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
Eh...this book was just okay for me.
Rikki just got on my nerves; I found her to be a whiny brat in all honesty. I get that she lost the love of her life who happened to be a firefighter but it seemed like everything revolved around this. She used this as an excuse for everything in her life.
The threesome was HOT, but I didn't feel like they got to know each other much outside of the bedroom. I wanted them to connect outside of the bedroom and we never got there.
I'm so bored. I don't think I've ever said that about one of Ms. Carew's books. I don't care what happens to any of them. Not even all her friends or the other hot firefighters, and there's normally at least one that I wanted to know more about. Oh well, on to the next book
TL;DR: SAVE YOURSELF SOME PAIN AND STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE FIRE
***
THE STORY:
I picked up this book because I got a publisher email. If you'll recall, I also reviewed the author's last release, A Fare To Remember. I didn't think it could honestly get worse than that one. I figured it would be a quick read, a few laughs, and then I'd write a review that was essentially a rehashing of the last.
This book was so much worse than the one before it. I don't even want to review it. First, the review copy that they sent me was barely readable. The formatting was awful and random words and numbers were inserted throughout the book. I had the worst time following it because of those things. And not only that, but the story itself was the most bored I've ever been while reading erotica. The prose was infantile and awful. The characters were worse than paper dolls.
Rikki is a shell of a human who apparently had one serious relationship about ten years before, and they were engaged and waiting for her to turn 18 so she wouldn't be jailbait for the older guy, but instead he got killed in the line of duty before he could close the deal. Since he was a firefighter, she's sworn off all firefighters as romantic partners. Somehow in the interim, all she does with her life is work in retail, selling clothing. But she's also a photographer, because why not? Her friend Cassie, who I have no idea how they met, sets her up with a sexy firefighter calendar gig that doesn't pay, but she gets full ownership of the negatives and can make money off romance authors for book covers. Fine.
She goes out with her new roommates, all of whom are described way too well for how little they feature into this story, and has a connection when she shares a glance with two men sitting at the bar. She evidently has mystical soulmate powers, because she just knows that she is meant to be with both men. The last time she had that connection, it was with her late fiancé.
She is hesitant to begin something with both, because she's a virgin and also she doesn't particularly want to be in a relationship with someone who works in such a dangerous profession, which seems understandable, but they are so drawn to each other that it's inevitable that they hook up. And also she can't choose so it has to be a threesome and there doesn't seem to be any awkwardness at all with that idea. Even though none of them have had a threesome before. I think. Maybe the guys have, but their backstory is apparently not important.
The scene where they finally do it is all kinds of wrong and cringe-worthy. First, both firefighters are showering together, naked. Like you do. And Rikki walks in on them, and is captivated by their nakedness. They turn around and see her, and despite her protests, seduce her in the shower. (This whole time, they are at the fire station. Yes, their place of EMPLOYMENT.) Then they go back to the guys' private sleeping quarters while the rest of their co-workers are sleeping in other rooms in the same building, and have kinky sex. It's Rikki's first time and she's letting one guy have sex with her while going down on the other guy. And I don't even know how they managed to situate themselves without one of the guys hanging from a light fixture.
Of course, there's a guy from Rikki's past that shows up so her two firefighters can be all jealous and have a misunderstanding, but it really, really doesn't work. I haven't even bothered to name the two guys because I couldn't tell them apart. In the end, Rikki decides that love is worth the risk and the guys allow her to take the risk. Yes, allow her. They decide she isn't too fragile for their love.
Ughhh don't even no I can't gaaaah.
TECHNICAL ELEMENTS:
I have for you a selection of quotations.
But she was intensely aware of his potent masculine aura.
He drew back and smiled at her, his mouth glistening with her arousal.
She moaned in his ear, probably deafening him, but he kept rocking. Filling her with that wonderful, thick column.
...she's like a kid with a new toy as far as the adventurous sex goes.
Her voice sounded like hot silk.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I don't think I have it in me to review another one of this author's books. This was a trial, summoning all of my strength to keep my gag reflex in check. I wanted to review it because I thought there should be some variety in the reviews on Goodreads, because a lot of people seem to enjoy this and I didn't want some unsuspecting reader to end up sorely disappointed. But someone else is going to have to commit seppuku because another one of these and I'm going to be in line for a lobotomy.
Even though the sex scenes were hot, this was just an okay read for me. The heroine and one of the heroes had some moments where they just annoyed me to the point that I didn't like them, but they were true to life. The story flowed, but I just really didn't connect with heroine. What was with all of the men wanting her?!
This book was just ok for me. The storyline was pretty good, but the writing just didn't flow in a lot of spots.
Rikki moved to Muldone looking for a fresh start and a new job. She landed a photography gig shooting firemen for a fundraising calendar to help support the local neighborhood. The evening before the photo shoot is to begin, Rikki heads out for a night of fun with her new roommates, where she initially meets Simon and Carter, a couple of hot, sexy firemen, who she instantly has a connection with. The next day at the firehouse it just so happens that Simon and Carter will be front and center for this shoot.
I really wanted to love this book, unfortunately it just didn't happen for me.
Heat by Opal Carew
Source: Netgalley
My Rating: 4/5 stars
My Review:
Is there anything hotter than a fit and fine firefighter? How about a whole house full of them ready to bare all for a good cause? Yeah, Rikki’s job as a photographer just sucks 😊
Since the death of her boyfriend many years ago, Rikki just hasn’t been able to move on. In a last-ditch effort to save herself, Rikki packs her bags and moves to a new city. With three new roommates and her old college roommate, Cassie for support, Rikki is hoping to get a fresh start, to move past the pain of losing her boyfriend. First up, getting roped into Cassie’s firefighter calendar project. All Rikki has to do is hang out at the firehouse, take loads of pictures, and help put together the charity calendar. With so many hot men all willing to work with Rikki, the project should be a walk in the park. Unfortunately, every time the alarm sounds, Rikki is reminded of her loss and the fear she feels at the men rushing out into danger is quite nearly crippling.
Added to the fear is Rikki’s particular interest in two of the men, Simon and Carter. From the moment she saw them, Rikki knew both men were meant to be hers. Her connection to both is instantaneous and powerful, but so is her fear of losing them. With a degree of bravery she never knew she possessed and some sexy persuasion, Rikki decides to take a chance on love. Her reward is two dead sexy men with nothing but her pleasure and well-being in mind. Simon and Carter are attentive and kind, caring and concerned, and just the right amount of naughty. They adore Rikki and have no intention of giving her up. As each day goes by, Rikki learns to trust in her men a bit more, and understands their job is risky, but they’re well trained and as careful as they can be when out in the field.
Life has a cruel sense of humor though and just as things seem to be on track and really good for Rikki and her men, the rug is pulled out from under them. In one fell swoop, a suitor from Rikki’s past makes an appearance and a very attractive offer and a nasty call threatens everyone’s lives. Old fears and new one crop up, loyalties are questioned, and before it’s all said and done, everyone is broken and in need of repair.
The Bottom Line: Heat is a typical Opal Carew read with some totally unrealistic bits, a decent plot, characters who are easy to root for, and A LOT of naughty bits. Simon and Carter and their fire house crew sort of steal the show in this one. The men are all such dominate and commanding personalities that this could easily be expanded into a series with each man getting his own HEA. As for the women, I liked Rikki and her best-friend Cassie well enough, but each is just a bit too meek and mild for my liking. With that being said, Rikki doesn’t allow Simon and Carter to dominate her; it is simply this, Rikki’s less commanding personality is a good fit for the strong alpha males she’s chosen. As always, the naughty bits are plentiful in this read, but I wouldn’t have minded a bit more variety. If everyone is going to but I would have liked to have seen a bit more variety. If everyone is going to share, then everyone should share. That is, let the boys get it on with each other with as much enthusiasm as they have with Rikki. At the end of it all, I still liked this read as I do with most of Opal Carew’s books. I already know what I’m going to get when I dive in so I’m often neither blown away nor disappointed. Such is the case with Heat.
I might sound like a broken record, but Opal Carew is definitely one of my favorite erotic romance authors. She hit it out of the park with her recent Dirty Talk series. Her latest release, Heat, is another super hot, emotional story that I enjoyed.
Rikki has moved to a new town in hopes of getting a fresh start. Her first love, Jesse, was a firefighter who was killed in the line of duty. Even though it has been years since he passed away, she has never fully healed or recovered from that loss. Additionally, Rikki has a policy against ever dating a firefighter again.
When Rikki goes out on the town with her new roommates, she meets two sexy guys, Carter and Simon. There's a strong attraction between all three of them, made more electric when the guys reveal that they're so close that they share everything. Unfortunately, Rikki has a little too much to drink that night, so even though she wants to explore something physical, the guys refuse to take advantage of her. (+1 for Carter and Simon.)
Meanwhile, Rikki has been hired as a photographer to shoot images for a firefighters' calendar to benefit charity. She's surprised, though, when she attends a meeting at the fire station and in walk Carter and Simon. Yep, they're firefighters.
At first, Rikki's firmly against pursuing a relationship with them because of the inherent danger of their jobs. Also, she still feels loyal to Jesse, even though he's gone. But then the guys convince Rikki to explore the chemistry between the three of them, made more complicated because Rikki is quite inexperienced sexually.
There's a lot going on here: the ménage aspect, Rikki's grief, and the fact that she's a virgin (though not for long). As Rikki's relationship with Carter and Simon grows, she learns to move forward and no longer be trapped in the past.
Carter is the sweeter, more laid back of the two, where Simon can be a bit of a hot head and quicker to become jealous. When an old friend from Rikki's past surfaces, a new conflict is added to their already complicated arrangement.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. Rikki has been through so much tragedy and I just wanted her to find happiness. For the most part, her interactions with Carter and Simon are playful and sweet--when they're not hot and dirty, that is. Although there is an angst factor to the story, it's dealt with appropriately and in a sensitive way.
I can always count on this author to bring the heat with her books, which makes that a fitting title for this book. The story also satisfies on an emotional level, which makes it another great read from Carew.
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley.
Back in 2017, I received an ARC of Heat by Opal Carew from St. Martin’s Press. Honestly I can’t remember if I won it in a giveaway or just requested a copy. I have been meaning to read it for the last two years but for some reason it kept getting out on the back burner. I finally got around and tackled it and here’s my review.
Synopsis :
With passion so blazing hot, you don’t want to put this fire out…
When Rikki’s first love dies in the line of duty she vows to keep her heart guarded and never give it away again.
After moving to a new town for a fresh start, she is given the opportunity to show off her photography skills and shoot a sexy fireman calendar. Although taking the job might bring up painful memories, she knows this is her best chance at fulfilling her dreams of becoming a professional photographer.
While out with her new roommates, Rikki meets Simon and Carter and feels an instant spark of attraction… to both equally gorgeous and tempting men. This is the same intense feeling she had the first time she fell in love. But how can she feel that way about two men?
When she arrives at the firehouse to shoot the calendar, she is surprised to find that Simon and Carter are firefighters so she immediately pulls back on their growing flirtation. But Simon and Carter are men who know what they want, and they want Riki. As the chemistry between them ignites Rikki finds it hard to resist falling prey to her steamiest fantasies.
Now she has to choose between keeping her heart safe… or taking a chance on love… and possibly losing everything.
My Review:
I had very high hopes for this book, even though I seriously procrastinated reading it. I was excited that an author finally wrote a story about a woman photographer that wanted to further her career, because like Rikki I love photography. Plus hot fire fighters are always a major bonus.
When it came down to it, this book was the biggest flop I have read so far this year. I almost DNF’d the book multiple times because almost every time you turned the page there was always a five page scene where Rikki and the guys where having sex. Yes, I know it’s an Erotica book and there’s going to be alot of sexual content, but Fifty Shades Of Grey has more substance and depth then this book even carried. There was barely any drama or action. Rikki spent 99% of her time naked, drooling over Simon and Carter, or second guessing herself to the point where it was annoying and she barely even focused on her career.
I’m rating this book a 2/5 stars cause of the lack of depth and substance. Personally, I probably won’t be reading another book by this author.
First of all, I have to say that this book DEFINITELY managed to turn up the "heat" in a good way. It is definitely filled with A LOT of hot sex scenes, so hot that I'm a little envious of Opal Carew's writing as far as smut goes. Not even *I* could write sex scenes like that with two people let alone three. As hot as I found Carter & Simon, who I was imagining as Buck & Eddie from "9-1-1" (their personalities definitely fit), I was honestly a little disappointed that the book seemed more focused on the sexual relationship between them than anything else.
Maybe its just my personal preference and the fact that it's an erotic romance and not romantic suspense, but I feel like things didn't really pick up for me or get me invested until the fire in Rikki's building. Being that they're heroes and I love a damsel-in-distress, I wanted to see more physical drama like that, where they are more like white knights to Rikki and less of just sex partners. I wanted to see a real relationship develop between the three of them that didn't seem like it was all about the sex, but unfortunately, that's what it came across as. More sex and less romance or fluff. I would take more story and character development over more sex in a book any day, unless there's some sort of role-playing aspect to it where they can have fun and change things up from one scene to the next.
This is the first book I've read by author Opal Carew, but I always love reading about hot guys in uniform like firefighters, which is partly why I decided to read it. I have three other books on my shelf by Opal Carew so I'm hoping I will enjoy those a little more since they're more focused on Dom/Sub relationships but for a MFM, I have to say the sex in this book was pretty hot and fulfilling if you like that sort of thing. I just wish there could've been at least one kiss between Carter & Simon. I mean, come on, give a girl something different! I'm sure Rikki would've enjoyed it. Now if only I could take a gander at those pictures and that calendar. 😉
Arc received through Netgalley via the publisher for an honest review. In no way is my review biased.
What's better than 1 fireman?
2 firemen!!!
Rikki is new to town, after losing the love of her life to a fire and his occupation she decides to search for a change. She finds herself in the small town that her best friend Cassie resides in. Cassie mentions to Rikki about a fireman calendar that would be a perfect start project for pursuing photography. Rikki being the shy closed off woman she is has her doubts she would be good at photographing half naked men but decides to do it anyway.
She then meets Simon and Carter.
Simon and Carter have been best friends for years. They do everything together and that includes EVERYTHING. When they see Rikki walk through the doors of the bar they know they have to have her. But the question is...Which one gets her?
Rikki has other plans though, she isn't going to pick one. She's going to choose both.
Opal Carew is amazing when it comes to writing hot steamy sex scenes. The hot factor of this novel was extreme.
I did have a few issues with this novel. I was intrigued through the first half. I loved how Rikki was sheltered and a tad bit naive, she was the classic virgin. But then somewhere through the novel i started to lose sight of who Rikki was, he character started changing and became wishy washy. I also disliked how predictable this novel was.
Even though i had a few issues I loved Simon and Carter. They were extremely caring to Rikki and not only her physical needs but also her emotional needs. They also helped her see that the past is able to be left in the past and moving on is not a crime.
Overall, I liked this novel but didn't love it.
I'm having a difficult time reviewing this book. On one hand, this had a good storyline, I liked most of the main and secondary characters, the heated intimate scenes were hot and steamy, and the humorous banter was great. On the other, I couldn't connect with the main female character, there were a lot of inconsistencies-mostly because of the female lead, the bf was ok except when she was pushy or stuck her nose where she shouldn't have, and there were numerous contradictory issues that were also becoming repetitive due to the number of times brought up.
Don't get me wrong, this was a good story, but there was just too many things that didn't add up that I felt as if I was reading two different stories at times. My main problem was with Rikki, the female lead character, due to the fact that her character was all over the place. One minute she was grieving over her fiancé who was a former firefighter that was killed on the job, but the next she was drooling over every single firefighter that she was supposed to be photographing for a calendar fundraiser, that includes both of the men that she's interested in. Then she swore that she'd never be with another firefighter, but then continues talking to two bf's that are interested in her, who are firefighters as well.
It's difficult to explain everything without giving away spoilers, which I refuse to do. I did enjoy the book, and it's obvious that others have as well. I believe that this is one of those books that it will be up to the individual as to weather or not it will be for them. If you're interested, please request a sample to see if this is something that you can enjoy.
Rikki's first love was a firefighter and after he died, she decided to protect her heart by pouring her desires into the novels she writes. When research on her latest book brings her to a firehouse, she's determined to keep it professional, but these men are too hot and charming to resist. And when firefighters Simon and Carter make it clear they're willing to help her fulfill her steamiest fantasies, Rikki realizes she's going to lose more than just her cool.
As Simon and Carter help Rikki unlock her desires, she finds herself falling for both men. But how can she give them her heart when they can't promise she won't lose them too?
Review:
Well, this is my second ménage for this week.
I must say this for both books being ménage relationships neither book showed three people on the cover which might fool some people if they don't read the blurb, just saying.
This is the story of Rikki who goes all out with her first sexual encounter and has sex with two men. Okay, that had me pausing for believability sakes, again, just saying. Hey, at least it was with two hunky firemen, Simon and Carter. The story had a lot of potential if some of the things they did were not a little far fetched. I really liked that the one thing in this relationship that Rikki is afraid of is the one thing that she must overcome to get her HEA. Another thing I liked was using a fundraising calendar as the thing that brings the three of them together again. You see those fireman calendars everywhere nowadays.
So overall if you are looking for a quick, sexy read than reading this should fulfill that need.
3.5Stars
Sheets on Fire !!
Wow, Ms. Carew delivers the goods in this steamy edition of two hot, sexy firemen bent on winning the heart of a reluctant female.
Rikki’s trying to move on from a relationship that ended tragically, even going as far as starting over in a new town, new career, and roommates. This was a good time in her life to set new roots and live in the same town as her best friend from college, Cassie. And Cassie’s got her working her skills as a photographer helping create a calendar with gorgeous firemen to help fund the local charity. What she didn’t expect was to meet the two men, she lusted the night before at a bar, to be firemen. Rikki is immediately drawn to Simon and Carter, but she’s not willing to let down the walls surrounding her heart since the tragedy with Jesse, her fiance who was a fireman, and lost his life in a rescue. Rikki isn’t sure she could live in constant fear over their dangerous jobs and survive losing them.
Carter Fenn and Simon Davies are both attracted to Rikki, and they have no problems sharing. These gorgeous men are protective, reliable and attentive when it comes to Rikki. It was fun to see them bring out their arsenal of sensual skills to reignite Rikki’s sexual appetite and convince her they mean to make her theirs. But then the unthinkable happens. Can Rikki get over her confusion and hurt?
Heat is pure entertainment with plenty of steamy, sizzling action. You can’t pick up an Opal Carew book without getting lots of sinfully, wicked goodness and romance.
I received an ARC from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley and I voluntarily reviewed this book.
