I love this series! The reveals and endings are so good, I can (and did) read them multiple times over. I'm not one for re-reading books but I'd make an exception for these.
This book is about Cull the Nameless, whose fate was previously unknown. Having lost his childhood memories due to trauma, and following Buchan's orders out of loyalty and honor, he is completely unaware of The Wolf's treacherous past with his family. When Cull falls in love, his world is thrown upside down, and he must discover his past to determine who truly deserves his devotion.
Like the first two books, there is a lot of drama, politicking, and uncovering of lies; however, there is a lot less actual fighting, even though there is plenty of preparation for battle. There are a few steamy scenes (yes please! bring on the smut!) but the main themes are more about overcoming prejudices and circumstance, keeping one's honor intact, justice, family bonds, and love conquers all.
Unfortunately I loved the first book so much, I don't think the second, or third book, ever stood a chance at being my favorite, but book three gets a solid 4 1/2 stars. The entire series is amazing, and definitely worth picking up. I'm so glad it found me. I truly hope it'll find you as well and that you give it a chance. I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed.

But this author really does excel at writing genuine, heartfelt characters who inspire my loyalty. I couldn't help but love both Cull and Derryth's strengths and vulnerabilities.
This entire series was filled with easy-to-read angsty goodness that I'll gladly read more of in the future.
Her heart was loyal, and she loved fiercely.Though nowhere near as fabulous as book 1 in this series, book 2 and book 3 were still pretty good. I just wish that more care had gone into planning out the plot of this installment; at times it was held together by some pretty thin threads.
But this author really does excel at writing genuine, heartfelt characters who inspire my loyalty. I couldn't help but love both Cull and Derryth's strengths and vulnerabilities.

I was left thoroughly satisfied…
I have to work today and I’m going to suffer because of my love of books… No, let’s blame it on Highlanders… Or, maybe we’ll narrow it down to Warriors… Hmmm, maybe I could just blame Lily Blackwood… I absolutely LOVED The Warrior of Clan Kincaid. This series has become one of my favourites in Historical Highlander Romance.
It’s not just the characters that make this series great, but they are pretty special. It’s jam-packed full of strong heroes, feisty heroines, engaging additional characters and baddies that turn your stomach. These people became my people and their challenges were ones that I wanted to be a part of. I became a Kincaid and I wore my name with pride.
It’s not just the storyline that makes this series entertaining. At the end of each instalment, I’m hungry for more. Murder, mystery and battles keep the story exciting and fast-paced. I was invested in their battles because I believed in their fight for justice. Of course, there’s the love story that simmers as the battles are fought. Will their lust turn to love? Will their battles make them the victor? Will the winner take all? Each page that’s turned could be the answer, and I couldn’t turn them fast enough.
It’s the whole package that came alive for me. The characters were easy for me to picture and I even googled a kirtle so I could picture Derryth’s clothing. Now, when it came to Cull’s, no googling was necessary. I’ll stick with the image on the cover, thanks, Lily. There were castles, bathing tents, muddy camps and Persian rugs to imagine.
Derryth and Cull deserved a forever kind of love and I was eager to see them get it. Obviously, it’s a romance, so it should all turn out right. I’m satisfied with my romance read if the author makes me nervous, keeps me doubting and has me hesitant to believe I’ll be satisfied in the end. I always hope for a HEA but I somehow manage to trick myself into thinking that maybe this one could be different. I don’t want it to be different, but, you know, it could happen…
Sure, The Warrior of Clan Kincaid could be read as a standalone, but I really believe that you’re missing a treat if you start at the end. Each brother has a story to tell, and you are truly invested in the battle when you know each step that’s been taken to get to the finale.
If you’re a fan of Highlander Historical Romance, l recommend trying this one. If heroes that are good, strong, determined, sexy and loving, float your boat, I believe you’ll love it. A heroine that is feisty, brave and strong-minded, is one you admire, I think this will be a good match. The Highland Warrior series is fantastic and The Warrior of Clan Kincaid was an excellent instalment. I can’t wait to see what Lily Blackwood brings out next.

I LOVED books 1 and 2 in this series, so I was eagerly waiting for this to be published. However, I found I wasn't as happy with this particular book. I've fallen in love with Lily Blackwood's writing and my expectations have now risen....A LOT! And somehow this book failed to deliver the awesomeness I'm used to by this author.
But I'm waiting to see what she writes next. I will eagerly pick it up.
I think it's best to read this series in order, as they are very interconnected.

In a word: satisfying
The Warrior of Clan Kincaid is the final book in the Kincaid Brothers Trilogy, and it was a very satisfying and fitting finale. I would consider the first book in this trilogy to be one of my favorite historical romances in recent years; this one comes pretty close to matching it, in my opinion.
In this concluding installment, the focus is on Sir Cull the Nameless. Cull's earliest memories are of being a slave aboard a ship where he suffers many abuses and witnesses the worst of mankind; he wears what he believes to be a slaver's mark under his arm as a constant reminder of his lowest of statuses. At around age 13, his life changes for the better when he is bought by the Earl of Buchan (known as "The Wolf") who claims to want to free him to fight for the Scottish King. From that point forward, Cull lives only to train as the fiercest warrior and earns a position with the elite King's Guard. He has been recruited by The Wolf to lead the siege on a castle that is occupied by "imposters"... the castle held by Niall Kincaid, the first born son of the Kincaid whose land was stolen by neighboring clan lairds and who executed his father and mother. It was believed at the time that the three Kincaid sons were also slain; however, it is revealed in the first book of this series that they were taken by various trusted clansmen to secure their safety; in the process, they were lost to one another. While the first 2 sons have been reunited, the third and youngest of the trio (Cullen) is thought to have perished. The Wolf insists that all three boys were murdered, and that the ones claiming to be Kincaids are imposters who have deceived the crown and must be usurped from their positions. What The Wolf does not know, however, is that each of the true sons of the Kincaid bear a mark that proves them to be the true heirs.
Derryth is the younger sister of Niall Kincaid's beloved wife Elspeth. She has lived with her sister and brother-in-law, but Niall has determined it is best for her to be sent to out of harm's way to her stepmother's home as they anticipate a siege and further treachery to occur. Derryth is loathe to leave as she adores her sister's family, but she reluctantly agrees. Not long after they embark on the journey (using the less traveled routes and disguised as peasants), they are surrounded by militia who attack their meager caravan. As Derryth flees the nefarious intentions of the men who have her pinned down, Cull comes to her rescue and saves her from certain ruin. When he catches Derryth, she is covered in mud from head to toe, dressed in peasant wear, and stinks to high heaven; thus, Cull believes her to be a nuisance child. But once the filth is removed from her person, Cull realizes she is a stunning woman. Both captive and captor do their utmost to deny their attraction and growing feelings for one another as they are "enemies."
What I liked:
--- Cull was always honorable and forthright regardless of the corruption that surrounded him; he was a perfect hero in that sense
--- Derryth was very likeable as a leading lady; she was just feisty enough to be believable, and her struggle with remaining true to her family while falling in love with the man she believes to be her enemy was well developed by the author
--- The plot was exciting and fast-moving
--- Oh the steamy goodness -- never graphic, but always very passionate with a physical and emotional connection between the main characters that is felt by the reader
What I didn't like as much:
--- There was what I felt was a little too much unnecessary angst with the main characters being separated; I would have preferred to have spent that time enjoying the mcs as a couple
--- There was a secondary character (Nathan) who was one of the men captured with Derryth's traveling party that kept popping up throughout the book, and I was never quite sure why --- his intentions were not clear (Did he have feelings for Derryth? Was he just an a-hole who didn't care, which wouldn't make too much sense that Niall would have included him in the party with his beloved sister-in-law?) His constant involvement seemed to warrant a little more explanation that the reader was provided
Overall, a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to an engaging trilogy about brothers who lost each other but were finally reunited and enjoying an HEA in their true homes with the women they love.

Lily Blackwood is one of the queens of historical highland romance! She crafts a historically immersive world you can almost reach out and touch. You can clearly visualize what it was like to live in that period. She makes it that much better by throwing in a couple of fabulous MCs’ in a plot that keeps those pages turning!
This is the third and final book in the Highland Warrior series. Each book tells the individual story of the sons of Clan Kincaid. Their father, the Laird of Kincaid was murdered, leaving his sons scattered. This installment tells the story of Cull, the youngest Kincaid and can be read as standalone.
Derryth is the younger sister of Elspeth; the wife of Niall Braewick, head of the Kincaid clan. Derryth is living with Elspeth and brother-in-law. She’s been happy and is loved by many. But trouble is brewing and when it’s suspected they’ll soon be under siege, plans are made to send Derryth away to keep her safe. So, she sets of with a group of protectors chosen by Niall.
Unfortunately, during their journey a group of mercenaries, hired to fight for the king’s army, attack them!
Sir Cull the Nameless leads the division of the king’s army on a mission to defeat the highlanders seen as enemies to the king. Especially, the Clan Kincaid. As the army approaches their enemy, Cull gives strict orders that travelers are not to be attacked so as not to raise the alarm.
When he finds his mercenaries attacking a group of “peasants” with a young “peasant” girl in danger of getting raped he’s furious. Not knowing the group is from the clan Kincaid, Cull takes them all into custody; and to protect Derryth from the soldiers he brings her to his tent.
And so, starts the dance between captive-captor and the inevitable attraction that burns between them!
Derryth is a slightly spoiled, charming young woman. She’s kind, smart and has a strong will. At first, she’s unsure of herself but she adapts to her captivity and becomes resolved to help those she loves. I loved her fierce loyalty and determination. I found her to be courageous and I truly enjoyed her character. She was the perfect match for Cull.
Cull is an honorable man indebted to the man who bought him out of slavery as a young boy. He has no memory of his life before that. As a result, he has no clue who he is other than Sir Cull the Nameless, a soldier trained to fight in the King’s army. But he’s desperate for an identity. He wants a name, land and children of his own. His sole focus is to move through the ranks to achieve that goal. Little does he know that his supposed savior isn’t who he thinks he is…
When Derryth finds a telling tattoo under Culls arm his world is turned upside down. Suddenly Cull the nameless most definitely has a name! What will he do? Will he exact his own revenge? What will that mean for him and Derryth?
This is a great story full of intrigue with twists and turns that I found thoroughly enjoying. The romance was sweet (though a bit fast for those who aren’t fans of insta-love). The plot’s well-developed and told at a perfect pace. The main characters were fabulous; however, while enjoyable, the secondary characters tended to be a bit bland at times. That’s the only reason I dropped the review by a star.

This was an uneven read for me. Some parts I just loved, others were somewhat problematic. I think this series is best read in order. It worked ok as a standalone, as I read it that way, but it’s clear that it is a highly connected series.
The writing is very engaging. That is what is going to drive me to try more by this author. I liked the characters, and I thought the romance and attraction well written, though maybe a bit too fast-paced. I had some issues the plot and love scenes, however. I had trouble buying into the fact that the hero persisted in assuming the heroine was a peasant, despite how she was traveling on horseback and with an entourage. I also thought the command of the army by the hero felt inauthentic. The love scenes were going well until . Otherwise, it would have been a much better read for me.
This was a first for me by this author, and I will be checking out the first in this series at some point.

This was an uneven read for me. Some parts I just loved, others were somewhat problematic. I think this series is best read in order. It worked ok as a standalone, as I read it that way, but it’s clear that it is a highly connected series.
The writing is very engaging. That is what is going to drive me to try more by this author. I liked the characters, and I thought the romance and attraction well written, though maybe a bit too fast-paced. I had some issues the plot and love scenes, however. I had trouble buying into the fact that the hero persisted in assuming the heroine was a peasant, despite how she was traveling on horseback and with an entourage. I also thought the command of the army by the hero felt inauthentic. The love scenes were going well until . Otherwise, it would have been a much better read for me.
This was a first for me by this author, and I will be checking out the first in this series at some point.

And there you have it! The first trilogy I've read in a long while where I loved every book and wanted to own all three. The Warrior of Clan Kincaid was an excellent, tightly plotted story that brought together all lingering threads that remained for the mystery of the slain Laird Kincaid. I read it in two days which I have not done in several months. It felt good!
Derryth is the half-sister of Elspeth. The story opens when she is forced to leave her home to avoid The Wolf. Unfortunately, she is later captured by the very man employed by The Wolf. Cull the Nameless is a ferocious warrior who still retains a strong sense of honor. Authors toe the line when they have captor/captive romances. There is always a risk of Stockholm syndrome or a creepy nonconsensual feeling. Fortunately, this is NOT the case here.
I really enjoyed how the story snapped along and Derryth grew from a selfish young girl into a brave woman who knew what she wanted while Cull finally found the home and family he desperately wanted without having to compromise his code of honor.
While some may think the romance developed quickly, I thought it still felt organic and real. I liked how little truths and character traits were revealed by actions, the threats to the character felt real and not contrived, and the sex scenes were great.
My one niggle was that I thought Cull was waaay more accepting of the truth of his heritage than I expected. I know he was searching for a place to belong, but the reconciliation with the family was the only plot point that felt rushed.
However, despite this one drawback, I thought this was an excellent installment and worth the wait. I will buy it when it comes out and will definitely be reading this entire trilogy again. It's my favorite linked trilogy that I've read in a long time.
I cannot wait to see what Lily Blackwood/Lily Dalton comes out with next!

He's a loner, but feels extremly in debt to Buchan for saving him and thus serves him faithfully.
He's harsh, but repected by his worriors.
So when he find a group of his mercenaries attempting a rape, he's furious! He saves the victim and punishes the culprits.
The victim is Derryth, sister to the Kincaid chieftain's wife, who has been sent away by the Kincaids as soon as they had hint about the possible attack. Unfortunately she and the people who're escorting her are ambushed and she's been saved by Cull.
Cull is instantly attracted to her as soon as she's clean enough to be recognizable as a young woman, but he thinks her to be a peasant returning home.
This is their story.
I liked it, but it was a bit insta-love/lust story.
What I liked much was Cull. He's extremly honorable and just. While The Wolf wants Kincaids destruction, Cull want to defeat them honorably and becomes more and more aware that there's something sinister about how Wolf's manage this whole matter.
He's able to juggle Derryth's protection, Wolf's machinations, Dancan's (Wolf's son) taunting and jealousy, with the help of Wolf's second son, Robert.
Derryth is a very young girl. She's also very girly: she likes her dresses, her jewels, her hair... But she's thrown into a very dangerous situation and she's willing to adapt.
At first she hates Cull because he's the enemy, but after witnessing his honorable behaviour, she find herself more and more attracted to him.
At the middle of the book they're both in love with each other and seeks solutions to a really dangerous and seemingly impossible situation.
At the end everything comes out!
A lovely romance, but for me the insta lust/love was a little OTT, so I detracted 1 star from my rating. If that part was done a little bit differently, the story would have been a full 5 stars!

The Warrior of Clan Kincaid was an excellent conclusion to the Highland Warrior series with a fantastic romance and an exciting plot.
Derryth MacClaren has been sent away in the dead of night to flee an attack from the vicious nobleman known as the Wolf, a man determined to destroy Clan Kincaid. When Derryth is unexpectedly captured before she reaches her destination, she ends up in the hand of a fierce warrior who serves in the King’s guard. Cull has no memory of his past prior to his life with the Wolf where he trained to fight on behalf of the Scottish king. As Cull plans his attack against the Kincaids, Derryth and Cull find themselves unexpectedly falling for each other putting their hearts and loyalties on the line.
Cull’s memory of his life as a Kincaid is completely gone and as a result of his loss of memory, the one thing he longs for most is a name and a family. Dubbed Cull The Nameless, Cull has built a life for himself as a renowned warrior and takes his duties quite seriously. Despite the blurb mentioning Derryth informing Cull that he’s a Kincaid, that doesn’t actually happen until the book was almost over which surprised me as I definitely expected that revelation much sooner.
Derryth has spent her entire life as a pampered daughter and has come to realize she’s actually quite spoiled. Despite that, Derryth is still an incredibly kind person and she has a spine of steel that I admit was unexpected. I loved that she was willing to stand up for herself despite the odds being stacked against her. She does also have a bit of a rebellious streak which I liked. Particularly, I loved when she stitched kittens into one of Cull’s tunics.
Cull and Derryth’s relationship does start off a bit slowly considering Derryth is Cull’s captive, but that aspect thankfully never felt weird as Cull never forced Derryth into anything she didn’t want. At first there is a lot of unwanted attraction of both sides, but I loved watching these two slowly fall for each other and come to accept what they were feeling. The physical chemistry between the two is fantastic and I loved the scenes where it was just the two of them.
The couples from the first two books return and make a few appearances throughout the book which made me really happy. I loved getting to see the characters again and getting glimpses into their lives after the events of the first two books. The plot of this book does tie in with the previous two books, but this one does stand well on its own since so much time is spent away from the Kincaids. I was glad to see the villain finally get his comeuppance as it was so deserved after everything he did to the Kincaids.

Since starting this series I’ve been flying through each book, wanting to read the grand finale. I loved the feel of this author’s writing. She captures the feel or this era really well. The story she tells grows bigger and more detailed with each installment. The mystery and suspense weaves in and out of each part smoothly and the MCs are the icing on the cake.
Finally getting to meet the youngest Kincaid was exciting and Cull was such a torn individual. I loved his determination but it did border on stubborn when it came to Derryth. These two had some humorous moments that showed a softer side to Cull then what he shows the outside world. Not knowing his origins really messes with him and that prologue will make your heart ache for young Cull.
His heroine Derryth, I was not expecting that! Loved that she goes through an important change in her own story. Gone is the young frivolous girl we've briefly met before and in her place is a grown woman who sees the bigger picture now. I loved that we get to see her grow into a strong partner for Cull and that she was instrumental in bringing this proud family together.
This was more angst ridden then the previous books imo, and although the love story was great, the ongoing revenge plot felt like it faded into the background. I missed seeing the other brothers and was disappointed the family interactions were so few and far between.
The ending was full of twists and turns that I did not see coming and it kept me glued to the pages. I have to say though that the Afterword regarding the Wolf - that right there - was AMAZING. Without it I think I would have minused a star but I'm so glad it was included because it gave the readers the closure we needed after three books of hearing the horrid things this villain did over something so petty! So thank you Lily Blackwood! That ending was so worthy of this series :)

The secret wedding scene, who doesn’t love the dramatic antics of true love, Lol!
Would I recommend? Yes. The series as a whole was awesome! I loved this time frame and the romance and heat was spot on J If you liked Julie Garwood’s Highlander romances (The Wedding, The Bride, The Secret, Ransom & Shadow Music) I think this will strike a chord.

I don’t think the dictionary contains enough superlatives for me to tell you how much I enjoyed this series and this book. I have never given 5-star ratings to all of the books in a series before, so this is definitely a first. The story immediately sucked me right into that time period and the lives of the people who dwell there and it didn’t let me go until some hours after I had read the last words. It is well plotted, excellently written and has very likable and relatable characters. You COULD read this as a stand-alone if you insist, but I cannot imagine why you’d want to. The first book sets up the background excellently and the second book builds and the third book – well, sadly I guess it ends it. There is also a most excellent ‘Afterward’ in the book, but I would have loved to see an Epilogue from 5 or so years down the road to see how they are all doing, how the kids, are, etc. After all – Cull had only just met his brothers at the end of the book and I’d love to know how their relationships developed. Yep – that is my one and only complaint about the book.
Derryth MacClaren has been pulled from her bed in the wee hours of the morning to be dressed in the clothes of a servant. She’s placed on a donkey and told she must leave the castle immediately. She’s still groggy but knows she cannot, absolutely cannot, leave her nine-months-pregnant sister Elspeth (heroine from the first story in the series). However, Elspeth and her husband, Niall insist she must leave. Then, she suddenly knew why she was being made to leave. “It’s the Wolf, isn’t it?” Just speaking his name caused her vision to blur and her throat to close. As she set out on her journey she was accompanied by three of Niall’s best warriors and her old nursemaid. They were to take a circuitous route to get to their destination – it made the trip longer, but should have been safer.
Sir Cull the Nameless is a knight in service to the king of Scotland. He’s the best warrior and the most honorable warrior in all of Scotland as well. Cull was a slave on a ship and was rescued by Buchan who took him to Scotland and placed him in a school to be trained as a warrior. Cull was only twelve years old when he was rescued and he had no idea what his name was or how long he’d been on that slaver's ship. Buchan has now called him to the Highlands of Scotland to perform a task for the King even though Cull has never been to the Highlands. Cull dreams of having a name, land and a family and this new mission will give him all of that. All he has to do is defeat the people at the legendary Castle in the Clouds and take possession.
Cull’s forces are encamped several miles away from the castle when he hears a commotion and heads out to see what is going on. Some of the seedier men in his employ have defied his orders and stopped a set of peasant travelers on the road. Now that they have seen his encampment, he can’t let them go until after the battle. However, one of the servants is a young woman that he knows won’t last long with the men in his camp – so, he places her in his tent to avoid her being molested.
Elspeth is frightened, but she cannot let the soldiers know who she is. They could use her as leverage over her sister and brother-in-law. She’ll play the part of a servant and learn all she can of their plans – and she’ll do everything she can to escape.
Since Cull has Elspeth in his tent, they can’t help but come into contact with each other. Some of those interactions are funny – like kittens embroidered on his tunic – and others are enlightening. He becomes more and more possessive and protective of her – and she returns that, but she knows she has to escape and warn the castle.
The way they come to trust and love is a delightful thing for them to share with us. They are both so sweet, kind and caring and their journey is not an easy one. In the end, you sometimes just have to learn to trust those you love.
I was so pleased that the author tied up all of the loose ends for the series. Everyone and everything was accounted for. That said, I would have loved to learn more of what happened to Duncan – he certainly deserved more punishment than it seems he got. Also, there is Robert – I loved Robert and would dearly love to see the author do a story for him. He definitely deserves his own HEA. As I said earlier, I would have loved to see an epilogue further down the road to see how all was going with them. Maybe, just maybe, the author will add a fourth book, even if it is a novella, and we’ll catch up with all of them and see Robert get his HEA and see Duncan get his just deserts.
I highly recommend this book and this series.

I seem to have stumbled on this series a little late as clearly there are characters here who have previously had their story told but nevertheless I did find this worked as a standalone for this reader.
Derryth is a young privileged woman who seems used to getting her own way but when danger to the Kincaid family seems about to come barging through the gates she is sent away to safety. Now there wouldn't be a story if something didn't go wrong and Derryth is captured by the Kings men and struggles to keep her identity secret.
Cull only remembers being a slave so he has unwavering loyalty to his saviour the Wolf. Saving what he thinks is a child from rape gives him unexpected headaches when he quickly realises that the peasant is a female, beautiful and about to test him in ways he never expected.
I'm very disappointed that the synopsis of this gives away what is only revealed at the end ! I know spoilers are unfortunately given when reviewers get over enthusiastic but honestly I wanted that little nugget to be a surprise. However I did enjoy seeing Cull start to challenge everything he believed in and of course the romantic scenes when the couple"choose" each other, sigh. A satisfying romance with enough historical detail to set the scene.

Heroine is definition damsel in distress. Has no skills, no aspirations, super submissive, and male dependent for survival. And of course a puddle of estrogen when shes near the hero. Sorry, but I like my women to be a bit stronger than this.

This third book in Lily Blackwood’s Highland Warrior series tells a familiar story, but one I did not mind retreading. The titular character here is Cull the Nameless, a man who was kept as a slave for many of his formative years before someone bought him his freedom and lead him to a life as a soldier of the king. As the story begins, his benefactor has tapped him to lead a mission to relieve the Kincaid clan of their land.
Wait, you may say, the book is called of The Warrior of Clan Kincaid, but our hero is fighting against that clan? Well, yes and no. You see, the Kincaid men are missing one of their brothers. Or rather, he was presumed dead when their parents were killed. And did I mention that Cull has no recollection of his life before slavery? I don’t mean to spoil anything, really, but it does not take a rocket science to connect the dots. You would have figured it out on your own pretty quickly, I promise. And even though it takes a little while to spell it out on page, the big reveal is in the book’s blurb, so I don’t feel too guilty for mentioning it here.
This is a premise I have read several times over the years, but Lily Blackwood does a pretty good job with it.
As Cull and his men march toward their quarry, they come across Derryth, the laird’s sister-in-law, but they have no idea of her true identity. When some of Cull’s mercenaries get a little too aggressive with her, he takes responsibility for her and decides to keep her with him at all times for her protection. Only there is no protecting her heart or his own from the inevitable. Of course, they can’t help but to fall in love with each other.
Cull is a pretty solid hero. He has had a very difficult past, but he has held onto his humanity. He is fair and just, and though he lives a violet life, he is gentle with those who need it the most. Derryth knows he is the enemy, but in seeing his softer side, coupled with the undeniable physical attraction, her fight against her feelings is a losing battle. Derryth is supposed to be a little bit spoiled, but I did not find her terribly off-putting. I am not sure it is 100% believable that she could fall so hard and quickly for a man that she knows is going to plunder her home, but Cull is drawn very well and I guess I can put that aside based on his swooniness.
This book, while third in the trilogy, holds up very well as a standalone. Interestingly, when I looked back to see more details on the first two books, I found that I had actually read the first one a few years ago. It seems I didn’t quite enjoy it as much as I did this one, so don’t be afraid to jump in to the series at this point. It will still work.
This book had good sexual tension, dastardly villains, and a satisfying ending that gave me everything I wanted. If you’re in the mood for a Highlander story, this one is worth checking out.

Derryth MacClaren is sent away from Inverhaven by her sister Elspeth for her own protection, rumors suggest that the Earl of Buchan aka the Wolf has once more set his sites on Inverhaven, so she is being sent home until the threat has passed. But their plan is thwarted when a few hours into the journey, they are captured - by Cull the Nameless, a member of the King's Guard.
Cull saves Derryth from being raped but he cannot let her or her kinsmen go, he takes her back to his tent to keep her safe and tells her she and her kinsmen will be set free once they have taken the castle. Cull is acting on orders from Buchan, the man who rescued him from slavers as a child and trained him as a warrior. He hasn't seen the orders to take Inverhaven, but he trusts Buchan.
Derryth keeps her identity a secret and at first tries to escape Cull, but when that doesn't work she torments him. When Cull arranges for her to see Fiona and Deargh, Deargh suggests that she could be useful by keeping her eyes and ears open for information that will help her family beat Buchan. She changes her tact with Cull and soon discovers he is not the beast she thought he was. As they grow closer and she learns of her, her secrets weigh on her - she cares for Cull and desires him, but giving into her desire would be a betrayal to her family.
Cull is falling for Derryth, when he learns part of her secret, he will have to decide if his loyalty to Buchan and the promise of his greatest desire is worth more than his love for her. But when he believes Derryth has betrayed and used him, he tries to forget her and focuses on taking Inverhaven and the promised reward that comes with his success. However, all is not as it seems and when Robert (Buchan's son) questions the orders to take Inverhaven, Cull realizes he is being used and goes to see Buchan for answers. When he gets to Craven, he finds more than he ever imagined and the truths he has known his entire life will be turned upside down. Truths will be revealed, promises will be made, secrets will be shared, jealousy will be rampant and others will interfere to keep our lovers apart and help will come from an unexpected source.
Of the three books, this one is far and away my favorite, it is a well written, fast paced, steamy read with a lot of secrets, twists and turns, betrayal, shocking revelations, a little heartbreak and finally a very satisfying HEA. There are a couple of things that kept this from being a 5 star read for me, but none of them are major, a dropped storyline, a couple of scenes that did nothing to move the story along and an unbelievable love scene - nothing that ruined the story, but did distract me, but please note, the copy I read was an uncorrected edition, so issues I encountered, may well be corrected before publication. This is the third book in the series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone title. I am happy to recommend the book and hope Ms. Blackwood is planning a story for Robert, because that is a book I definitely would like to read!

THE WARRIOR OF CLAN KINCAID by Lily Blackwood is book Three in the Highland Warrior series. This is the story of Derryth MacClaren and Cullen Braewick. I have read the previous books (and Loved them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book if you want to do so.
Derryth is having to live her home as 'The Wolf' has threaten their family. But along the way she is captured by Cullen who works for 'The Wolf". Cullen doesn't know his family and only knows to be a fighter/ warrior. But he is promised Derryth along with other things but when Derryth tells him who she thinks he is...decisions have to be made.
This was another exciting read from Ms. Blackwood! Love her books and this one did not disappoint!

Wow! The Warrior of Clan Kincaid by Lily Blackwood is a phenomenal historical romance. Cull was bought from a slavers ship and became a warrior for the King 's Guard. Derryth was kidnapped by Cull's men on her way home from visiting her sister. Derryth and Cull's story is loaded with action, suspense, humor, steamy sex, drama and lots of twists and turns. This story captured me at the first page and didn't let me go until the end. I loved it. The Warrior of Clan Kincaid is book 3 of the Highland Warrior Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Absolutely loved everything about this story. The twists and turns had me holding onto the edge of my seat. Loved the play between Cull and Derryth. There are so many great laugh out loud moments. While there were parts i would have loved to read more about it was written well with great strong characters and a great back story. This is the first novel from this author I have read. I cannot wait to read more.

Lily Blackwood is a new author to me so I haven’t read the other books in this series but The Warrior Of Clan Kincaid can be read as a standalone. I seriously loved this book!! I am so happy to have found another historical romance author to read that I am doing a little happy dance! Simply fantastic! Rich, captivating characters that make you fall in love with them. I definitely plan on going back and reading the series from the beginning.

Really good, I was worried since reading the other books in the series I was thinking it would not cut the mustard but it did. It is my favorite in the series the drama is wonderful. A good read.

At last, we discover what happened to the third Kincaid brother who disappeared as a child while his family’s castle was attacked, and their parents killed. It was worth the wait!
Derryth MacClaren has been visiting her sister, Elspeth, and her husband Niall Braewick, Laird Kincaid at their castle. Woken in the night, dressed as a serf and told she was being sent home she fears for her pregnant sister and understands they may face a siege from Niall’s enemy Alexander Stewart, Earl of Buchan. She heads home with her brother-in-law’s men as her escort. They are caught by Buchan’s men and held as Cull the Nameless, one of the leaders, decides who they are. He plans to have them work for now and takes Derryth to his tent. She will also work, and he will try to keep her safe.
Cull is loyal to Buchan because he rescued him some years ago from a Venetian ship where he was a slave. He was then trained to be a soldier and eventually named a King’s Guard. He doesn’t understand the hatred for the Kincaids but follows the orders he was given. Eventually, he learns more of his history. I won’t ruin the rest of this wonderful, complex story. I highly recommend this book.

He even suspects they could be Kincaids! So until he has taken over Inverhaven he will keep them as guests.
Cul had been rescued on his slavers ship and a Kings man ask him his name. He says Boy as he doesn't have any memory since forced to be slave at eight years old. So when this Kings man offers to train him as warrior, to work for the Scottish king and to be free. Twelve year old Cul jumps at the chance.
Now as a man, the only thing Cul the nameless wants is a home, lands wealthy heiress and bairns and a name. The Wolf dangles Inverhaven in front of him but also his recent prize, Derryth. He only has to destroy the Kincaids and all his dreams will come true! Yet now Cul the nameless Warrior has fallen deeply in love for his prize, the little captive peasant. As derryth doesn’t expect to fall for her jailer. A man with no memory who will do anything to possess a home, lands, heiress wife and mostly a name.

I highly recommend this brilliant masterpiece. One of my favorite books of the year! A fast paced page turner! Another riveting adventure with non stop action, murder, treachery, mayhem, villains, vengeance, betrayal, brotherly love, passion, honor, forgiveness and love. All the elements that Scottish historical romance readers love! It will melt your heart and touch your soul!
Sadly this is the third book and finale of the Highland Warrior Series. I so loved all three novels, all brilliantly written. I think The Warrior of Clan Kincaid might be my favorite of the series. You can read this as well as a stand alone book. I personally like connecting the dots between each brother and previous book characters. I have also read each book in this series in under twenty-four hours which is rare and means its another Lily Blackwood masterpiece! I certainly hope this author has more scottish historical stories to tell.
This exhilarating book will absolutely blow you away! The setting is beautiful, dialogue is breathtaking, swoon worthy hero and protective heroine. A woman who will do anything to to care for those she loves! Brilliant plotting, holding my breath with anticipation not knowing what could possibly happen next!
Lily Blackwood is a truly gifted author that I can’t recommend enough!

I have also read each book in this series in under twenty-four hours which is rare and means its another Lily Blackwood masterpiece! I certainly hope this author has more scottish historical stories to tell.
This exhilarating book will absolutely blow you away! The setting is beautiful, dialogue is breathtaking, swoon worthy hero and protective heroine. A woman who will do anything to to care for those she loves! Brilliant plotting, holding my breath with anticipation not knowing what could possibly happen next!
Lily Blackwood is a truly gifted author that I can’t recommend enough!

3.5-4 stars, I can't decide.
I didn't realize when I received the ARC of The Warrior of Clan Kincaid that it was the third book in the series, but it worked pretty well as a standalone.
I was immediately hooked to the story. Derryth is a high-spirited girl and I love her sassiness. I especially love when she went head to head with Cull and stood her ground, eventhough he was a big scary dude. There's a bit of a forbidden attraction going on, since Cull was the enemy of Derryth's clan and had plans to invade their home, but it worked pretty nicely. I shed tears at the scene when Cull asked Derryth to choose him.
The only thing that bugged me was the bit where Cull discovered that he was actually a Kincaid felt a bit rushed. It was probably at 90% mark of the story? It didn't really have the impact that I wanted.
Overall, it was entertaining. I was surprised that I was able to finish it in one sitting because I was in a blah mood. Anyway, Robert needs his own book and HEA, yes? Yes.

Enemies, craving to be together , families fighting on different sides of a war .
Two people falling in love , hoping they can find a way to be together.
As a commander and her lover Cull is torn ,as her family wait for him to destroy them , can she talk him round before hell breaks loose .
I loved this book , so many conflicting emotions run through it and you can imagine the torment of being in their position.
It’s a really well written story and everything about it makes you love it .

I quite enjoyed this book ...I rate it a solid 4-1/2 stars! The story had all the elements needed in a good romance novel …,I loved the interaction of the main characters,... the romance was hot and steamy... nice humor ... and a bit of suspense to tie it all together. I enjoyed Ms Blackwood's style of writing …there was a nice flow to her words. I would definitely look for more of her work in the future.

Cant wait for this book to be out on May. Will def gonna wait for this one. This is the 3rd book of the Clan Kincaid story. You gotta read the first book to learn about the start of the story even if it's a standalone book. On the first book it would give you ideas how good this third book would be. :)
