Another solid entry in this new series. Great pace, setting, and action. Although this can stand on its own, I recommend reading BRANNAN'S RUN first for more in-depth color and background for the characters. The series is set in the present, but feels like something from the '60s--John D. MacDonald and Edward S. Aarons come to mind. This story in particular has a very James Bond vibe going for it. Could use a bit of editing here and there, but nothing that gets in the way of enjoying the story.

“Two-Fisted Men’s Action Adventure.”

Joe Brannan and his boat, the Betty, are hired by three university types to search for possible areas to create artificial reefs along Thailand’s coast; however, it turns out they are really CIA. The Navy has lost a super weapon, and it is thought to be somewhere near the coast of Pattaya. Problems arise when a local Korean smuggler steals the weapon before the team can retrieve it, and now it’s heading for China en route to North Korea.

There is lots of action from the very beginning, as the Koreans kill two CIA agents and capture the third, framing Brannan for the murders. Joe is forced to run before the Thai police can arrest him, and now he needs to take the CIA woman away from her Korean captors to prove his innocence, but that isn’t going to be easy.

The Brannan series is the best new men’s action novels I have read in a long time. The author’s writing is fast, and the story flows smoothly, with plenty of action and suspense to keep the reader on the edge of their seats. Even though it appears the author may have killed off one of the more interesting characters in this story, I’m not totally convinced we’ve seen the last of North Korea’s highly trained Korean agent, Sook-Ju. I would certainly like to see her return in a future story, as she almost took the story away from the lead character. The read is definitely fun, and highly recommended. PULP DEN Reviews.

This book is a sequel and is the second in the 'BRANNAN' series. I don't usually expect sequels to be as exciting as their predecessors but I found 'BRANNANS CHASE' to be just as much of a thrill ride as 'BRANNANS RUN'. If your after a non-stop thriller with well drawn characters and real tropical settings then this is the book for you. And there's a cliff hanger ending that will keep you turning the pages. Well worth the price of admission!

Brannan's Chase is a real page turner with a plot ripped right out of todays headlines. Joe Brannan is the reluctant hero who is trying his best to live a quiet life in the tropical paradise city of Pattaya Thailand. But world events and deadly villains conspire to threaten his idyllic existence. This is a top-notch thriller that really barrels along with some amazing action and twists that kept me glued to the book. Stephen Cord never lets up! I literally didn't know how he was going to get out of it until right up to the last page. Highly recommended
