Little did Samantha Egerton know when she spent the summer with her great grandmother and fell in love with Benjamin Hoffman, her grandmother's Mennonite farmhand, that a year later she'd be married to him, leaving her Englischer life behind forever. She became fully immersed in the 'plain and simple' life of being a Mennonite farmer's wife. She had often read stories when she was growing up about the Amish and Mennonite people and looked forward to living their quiet, idyllic life. Now after being married for six years with a growing family and in debt following some catastrophic events in her family, she had to learn to rely on God and her close knit family and community to see her through the valleys of her life. Her fantasy of living a quiet rural 'plain and simple' life wasn't anything like she thought it would be.
This is the first book in a series called "Women of Lancaster County". The prequel to this story is my "Tea With Grandy Dee". Samantha Hoffman is introduced in that story.
* This is a rewritten (revised) version of "The Plain and Simple Life of Samantha Hoffman"
This is very well written book about life as we will only read about. This family is strong, loving and is able to handle what ever live throws at them. It will make you realize how blessed we are, but we don't know what living without things we take for granted would be like. A great book to read.
