Easy-peasy! I've been trying out some of the recipes in this book with our new bread machine* and have been quite pleased with the results. I'm a novice bread maker, and this book is quite helpful for those of us who want simplicity and clarity. As others have mentioned, though, I do wish the author had given ingredient weights (in ounces or grams) as well as in cups/teaspoons/tablespoons. (Most of us who bake frequently have a decent kitchen scale that works in both pounds/ounces and grams/kilograms.)
There are a few typos here and there -- one of the recipes was missing the salt, but it was easy to extrapolate from similar recipes how much to use.
Providing each recipe in three bread sizes is extremely useful. I was too timid to do a full-size loaf on my first use of the machine as I was afraid it would overflow. Plus, it's nice to have the option of baking a smaller one-pound "trial loaf" to see how well we like a recipe before scaling up.
Having a physical book to prop open as I assemble recipes is miles easier than using my phone to view recipes, which is my usual procedure. (I had bookmarked a bunch of bread recipes on my phone, but somehow they all went bye-bye. Google seems to do this from time to time with my Pixel 2 phone, and it's very annoying. It's even more annoying when the old bookmarks magically reappear but then the new bookmarks vanish.)
This inexpensive book is nicely done, the print is a good size for my aging eyes, and there's just about every recipe you could possibly want. The only downside, of course, is that I have spent a small fortune ordering different types of flour and various nuts and seeds to use to make different breads. What can I say? Life gets a little boring on the home front during a pandemic.
*An "Amazon basic" $55 machine. So far, so good. It's fairly compact, which I like as my days of hauling out monster appliances are OVER.
Best bread machine cookbook ever. My favorite recipes are Crusty French Bread and raisin cinnamon bread. I love that each recipe has 3 sizes and that once you load the bread machine with the ingredients, you set it, start it, and don't have to worry about any additional work, except for emptying the pan, cooling the bread, slicing eating, and of course the dishwashing. This cookbook as wonderful no fuss recipes.
I haven't made any of these recipes yet, but I will be soon. There are more than a dozen "gonna have to do this one" recipes that are calling my name. I initially looked through this book on Kindle Unlimited but am going to wind up buying my own personal copy.
I bought a bread machine for $7 at a thrift store ages ago. I mainly bought it for the jam function for preserving fruit from my garden. I tried with the bread recipes in the manual and they were never very good and I stuck to jams and the occasional dough setting (to be finished in the oven). Then someone recommended this book and I saw it at a used bookstore. What the heck, I'll try it out.
Y'all. It's so easy. Every single recipe (7 at this point) we've tried has been amazing. We are literally making bread every day. The beginning of the book is very informative: how to use a bread machine, ingredients used and differences for each, troubleshooting with sketches, and (most important for me at 6000 ft) how to adjust for elevation.
I'm over the moon about this book and we'll never buy Sara Lee again.
I have been experimenting with sourdough bread recipes in my bread machine for about 6 months. I have been getting better results with each try but can't say I was satisfied. I never made a loaf that was good enough to share with friends.
This book was a Christmas gift. I made my best sourdough bread yesterday using the Basic Sourdough Bread recipe from this book. It was delicious and the texture of the bread was perfect.
My neighbor brought me a jar of extra-sourdough starter yesterday. Today I will use it to make the recipe for San Francisco Sourdough Bread. I can't wait to give it a try. I think I have found a five-star bread machine cookbook.
I love the layout of the book and the variety of recipes, but the portions don't make sense for some of the loaves. MANY of the recipes from this book have incorrect measurements. For most, there is either way too much or too little liquid or flour.
Examples:
Page 45, Rosemary bread - Called for too much liquid Page 46, whole wheat seeded loaf - called for less water for the 2lb recipe than the 1.5lb recipe Page 37, Dark rye bread, called for 1/2 cup of molasses! Page 52, Cinnamon Bread - the milk ratio is too much Page 69, Flaxseed honey bread -similar issues with inconsistency as previously stated.
I started to donate my bread machine but something told me to keep it and learn how to use it. I really love bread and when purchasing it, I stick with a whole grain wheat. Lately the brand I mainly buy taste different. I don't know if it is my taste buds or something else. I decided that winter is coming I will be spending more time at home. What better way than to see what happens when I attempt to make my own bread with less preservatives. This book explained to me in layman's terms and with recipes!
Unlike many bread recipes, the recipes in The No-Fuss Bread Machine Cookbook are well written. Directions are easily understood, ingredients can be found in most grocery stores and there are a large variety of recipes. I have only tried two recipes thus far and both breads were huge successes. This is a good cookbook for anyone, as well as beginners. Great job, Michelle Anderson!!!
I really like the recipes, but I’ll have to spend some time to recalulate them for weight. Even though I use a bread machine for convenience, weighing ingredients is the only way to create any consistency. It’s so simple to put the bread maker’s pan on the scale and simply put in the correct amount of each ingredient. No need to worry about measuring cups or measuring spoons. Just set to grams and go.
I just made the cinnamon loaf which came out perfect. Be aware that sometimes you need to add in a little extra flour during the kneading cycle if the dough is to sticky. I will come back and a couple of pictures later. The honey wheat bread was a good recipe too.😊
This is a great cook book with multiple forms of bread recipes. Imagine especially enjoy the introduction of each recipe, that describes the bread and what to expect .. We are even gives hints as to.how we serve the bread . The fact that there is large variety of recipes and I am educated as to history of some of the recipes. Hooked me into buying this book.
Loved this bread machine cookbook. It has so many great recipes for bread that I had to go through the whole thing all at once. This is perfect for the baking enthusiast or would be a perfect Christmas present for a special someone who loves baking new and creative items. Definitely recommend it.
And quite a few for us! I cannot wait to start making many of these recipes. I started with the basic white bread and am going through the book quickly. My husband, neighbors, kids, and friends are very happy, too. Lots of hints and suggestions to try, too.
This book is always kept close to my bread machine. I had to learn how to apply the recipes to my bread machine instructions but once I figured it out I won't make bread without it. The recipes included are good, but some are not ones that I would ever make. They do peak my curiosity and may have to try some of the odd ones one day. If you're just getting started with bread making, I would recommend this book, helpful tool.
As someone who doesn't use their bread machine as often as I should I was excited to pick this up in the sale. Recipes are easy to follow and I've bookmarked at least 3 breads in each chapter!
Notes that measurements are in American units but, easy to convert or just grab a set of measuring cups
Excellent. Clear and precise recipes. A huge selection of delicious, healthy (or not-so-healthy) breads, rolls, etc. Made the dark rye bread and it came out perfect. I say I finished it, but it will be a go-to reference for a happy bread machine.
Buying this book was a greay decision. It has made my breadmaker 1000 times more useful. I made the rye bread earlier this week and am waiting in the chocolate oatmeal bread right now. I also love the cinnamon bread, crusty French bread, and brioche.
I loved everything about it and can’t wait to try the recipes. What I loved most was all the helpful ideas to try and get my bread right in my new bread machine. Thank you for the ideas now to get baking
I am making my first loaf today. This book has wonderful recipes and directions. Am starting with the holiday bread and will share with my neighbor so I can start another loaf sooner. I will keep you informed.
So many great recipes! Written very clear, simple ingredients and instructions and great tasting. I would definitely recommend to anyone who uses a bread machine.
The cookbook is very easy to read and the flavors are delicious. Makes my bread machine even easier, dump everything in, turn it on and you’re on your way. The cookbook says no-fuss. they’re right there is no-fuss.
This book has so many great recipes from savory to sweet breads that are super easy to make with simple and concise instructions ! Really great resource!
The best recipe bread machine book I have come across. The recipes are simple and the final product tasty. No yeast or salty taste. Great job on this book.
