I received a copy in exchange for an honest review
From the moment I opened Luke, the first book in the Redemption Romance series, I have enjoyed every minute of Anna Scott's writing. It was with a heavy and dreaded heart that I opened Reed. Why you ask? Because I have become more than just fond of this group of friends who have survived war and a suicidal death of a loved one. I have become completely and totally obsessed, attached, and in love with each member of this band of heroes. So to spend the last book and pages with them was like coming home again and was also filled with the bittersweet sorrow of saying goodbye to some of the best book boyfriends a reader could ever ask for. If you are looking for a group of ex-military men who are also hot as hell police and ATF agents, then you need not look any further because Anna brings all of that to life with Luke, Jake, Gavin, Trent, and last but definitely not least...Reed.
Since Reed was introduced in Luke, Anna has been teasing us with glimpses of this cuddly, larger than life, man of mystery. But have no fear ladies and gents, Anna answers all of our questions and brings us into the mind and inner workings of Reed with the tragedy in his family and the heartbreaking “Dear John” letter and how it plays into his current relationship with Gillian. Poor guy! I couldn't help but to want to cuddle with Reed among many other sinful activities. Anna makes him so loveable, loyal, with a rockin' body and lots of stubborness that you can't help but instantly fall for him while simultaneously wanting to ring his neck.
Gillian Young is a heroine that is just as sweet as the pastries from the cafe that she operates but once we hear her story, we realize the true strength and back bone that is such a big part of her. Gili or “precious” as Reed loved to call her, may charm you with her quiet, innocent ways but she truly had me singing her praises with her ability to pull herself up by her boot straps and do what needs to be done whether anyone is there to support her or not. She is a woman with a spine of steel that we could all admire and learn to be more like in real life.
Anna Scott delivers a finale that is sure to have you tied in knots with suspense and tugging your heart strings over a story that takes you step by step through Gillian and Reed's tumultuous love story and Gillian's hair raising circumstances. I highly recommend Reed along with the rest of the Redemption Romance series for gripping, intriguing stories and characters that will be with you long after secrets are revealed and their passion is spent. I know that the series may be over but I will have to venture back to the beginning of this group's sad beginnings and feel every ounce of despair, inner struggle, and overwhelming desire that all of these heroes and heroines experience over and over again. I cannot wait to see what new fictional ventures Anna Scott takes us upon next. Whatever she chooses to write is sure to entertain and keep things smoldering hot!
"I couldn't spend another night like last night, Gilli. I just couldn't be without you again."
Reed Allen has spent all of his free time for the past year thinking about Gillian Young. He is convinced that he is too old for her and his job is too demanding that she wouldn’t want to deal with him. Gillian has spent the past year doing everything her family asks of her even if that means putting her own dreams on hold. She’s had so little time to think about a relationship that her own feeling get put on the back burner.
Well I have to be honest Reed has been my very favorite character since the first book of the series Luke. I couldn’t wait to read his book and I even reached out to Anna Scott begging for it to be next. Well I didn’t get my wish but you know the saying “save the best to last” well that certainly applies here. Don’t get me wrong I’ve loved the whole series but this one had me captivated and I couldn’t put it down.
Unlike the other guys in the Redemption Series Reed tends to be a little shy which just adds to his charm. When he finally gets the courage to ask out Gilli I swooned so hard at their first date. Gilli quickly learns how observant Reed is and how much he respects her. As their relationship progresses tragedy strikes and Reed proves once again how amazing of a man he truly is. Get ready to swoon over him multiple times.
"No, Gilli, I screwed up. Don't hold back baby. I love your touch; I need to feel your hands on me. Please, baby, I'll tell you everything I can later, but right now I need you."
Gilli is a strong willed independent woman that is a great role model. Although she has spent years putting her own hope and dreams on hold in order to run her family’s bakery even though she never wanted too. Gilli is the type of woman that knows you have to work hard for things in life and values the friendships she has made.
I wish I could write more because I really loved this book and I could talk to someone about it in length but I don’t want to spoil anything. I am sad to know that this is the finale in the Redemption Series but I am also excited for the spin offs and hoping I get small updates from these 5 guys and their girls. If you loved Laura Kaye’s Hard Ink series I highly recommend giving this one a try. Also be sure to check out all of our reviews on the series.
"You are the most amazing woman I've ever met, baby. You humble me." I gasped with emotion at his heartfelt words and I couldn't help the smile that crept across my face. "You better be careful; you might just make me fall in love with you." I was teasing, but realized too late at what my words must have sounded like. "I hope so, because I'm pretty sure I'm about to fall right along side you."
Do you love reading stories about ex-military and cop romances like I do? This is the second book in this series that I've had the pleasure of reviewing and I can honestly say that I loved every second.
I am always a skeptic when a book is part of a series that says it is also a standalone, but it is completely true about these books. You can totally read them out of order and not feel like you are missing something.
I have to say that for the first half of the book I was wondering how this book could possibly be a redemption romance...because Reed is a great guy with an amazing relationship with his mother and a sweet, alpha protective guy that I would love to have in my own life. I totally swooned over his first date with Gillian...oh my goodness! He was perfect! I had to keep reminding myself that he has already known Gillian for at least a year by this point and that is why he already had a nickname for her...Gilli, at first I thought it was weird, but I just keep reading and went with it.
This book not only goes from Reed's POV and Gillian's POV but also bounces back and forth from the past to the present. Anna seamlessly spins this story in a way to keep you turning every page to see what will happen next. With every twist and turn in this book I found myself shaking my fists at Reed and hoping that Gillian would stand up for herself and by the end of the book I found myself signing with relief and absolutely loving the epilogue. (often it's my favorite part of the book)
Don't miss out on this amazing story where two people with lots of baggage find hope, security and their happily every after...
First of all, If you haven't read the book in this series WHAT are you waiting for?
I stumbled on the author's book Trent, the fourth in the series, and after I read it i back tracked, one clicked, and devoured the previous books in the series. Then imagine my delight to find out that Reed was just a week or two away from release! You don't have to read the previous books to understand or enjoy each book, but I love getting to see how previous book friends have evolved...we get a glimpse here and there of past characters.
Reed is probably my favorite out of all of the heroes. He is alpha, protective, and gentle. He has been dancing around the heroine Gillian for awhile now, and finally gets the courage to ask her out. Gillian and Reed has some serious chemistry, and she has a heart of gold.
There is always an element of suspense in each novel, and this one is a bit different as it starts and we know Gillian and her niece are in danger, and Reed is losing his mind. It does a nice job of tying everything together without the changes of time being confusing.
Of course the couple has communication issues, and sometimes they could be a bit frustrating. But this was short lived and I would say their chemistry outweighed the angst.
All in all, what a great read! Anna will go down as a one click author on my list! Reed is a reread!
I really enjoyed this series, Reed, I was waiting for he definitely lives up to the build up of him in all the the other stories. Reed is probably my favorite out of all of the heroes. He is alpha, protective, and gentle. All in all, what a great read! I recommend Reed but also the whole series now they are all out you won't be able to put them down.
So it was good. I enjoy this author's stories. They are interesting and the characters are too. Reed and Trent were a little less on the love scenes which is a little disappointing because they are pretty long. The characters in these stories all go though similar drama. It's a little annoying how they all are inside their heads and come up with all kind of crazy drama when they could sort things out with a conversation. But the guys are sweet. Again I enjoy the story and the journey, just need a little more spice like the first ones in the series.
Well the terrible dialogue on the other stories was worth it for Reed’s. I can’t really tell you why I liked it. I like him more than the first four main male characters. My only announcer is he called her precious... ugh.
