Doga arrives with a Bang! The first of a three-arc action-packed origin story does justice to the title.
Heavily inspired by the Bollywood action movies from the 70s to the 90s; it depicts corruption, dacoity, police chases, ruthless violence, bloody revenge scenes and emotional dialogues. This proximity to the popular mainstream storylines has made Doga an instant fan-favourite!
The ultimate panel, in which Adrak Chacha is carrying the body of fatally wounded Doga, has since become an iconic scene in Indian comics.
I got this book purely for the culture but it actually has heart to it. It reads completely like an old Amitabh Bachchan 'Angry Young Man' movie through its dialogue and pacing. Its a very straightforward and simple plot, but it's just dumb fun with an honest attempt at social commentary using "Paan-Kharab" as the evil guy's means of social control.
The first comic of Doga, the action Hero who is modeled on Punisher but dresses in a mask like Dog and can talk to Dogs though that is yet to come. Earlier comics were kind of like C-Grade movies and this one seemed like that too but this gave us 'Doga' my one of the most favorite comic character. On to another once and this starts my addition of Hindi Comics to Good Reads.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
