Tyler is the millionaire boss. Jordan is the insubordinate accountant. Tyler has no charm. Jordan has no tact. Tyler lost his girlfriend. Jordan lost her brain-to-mouth filter. So now Tyler is single. And Jordan is single. And that’s about the only thing they have in common. But Tyler doesn’t want to be single. He wants his ex-girlfriend back and getting her back entails the execution of an incredibly childish plan. There is a problem, though. There’s only one way this dumb plan will ever work. He needs another woman. And believe it or not, his pushy, facetious, offensively sarcastic accountant is his best option. Maybe he should have thought this through…
Warning: Contains an extremely WEIRD male lead. If you’re looking for an office romance with a brutish alpha male, you won’t find it here. Read at your own risk. This is a full-length, contemporary romance (no cliff hanger). For adults only due to foul language and sexual content.
"Wow, Tyler. That's....pretty wild," she said with a hiccup of a laugh. "Are you mocking me?" She tried to hold back a smile. "No. Why would I do that?" "I'm sure I heard a distinct mocking tone." "I'm sure you are mistaken," she said, lifting the menu up to hide her face.-Jordan and Tyler
Let me just start this review by saying this book totally surprised me. After reading the blurb I had this idea in my head of how the book was going to go. I figured that Tyler would go on some dates with Jordan. As was the plan he and his buddy Matt came up with to make Tyler's ex jealous. It would work of course, but then Tyler would end up falling in love with Jordan. Then Tyler would do something stupid like go back to his ex ripping Jordan's heart out. He would then realize a day or two later that he was actually in love with Jordan and not the ex and go beg his way back. Hea the end. That was what I figured I would get. I also figured I would be getting a 3 to 4 star read as long as there was no cheating or extreme cowardly behavior(my two biggest pet peeves) because I read book one in this series and knew this author had a great sense of humor and that I enjoyed her writing style.
"I'll have the veal," Tyler said firmly. She looked up at the waiter and smiled, her amusement threatening to brim over. "He's off the chain tonight!" "You are mocking me."-Tyler and Jordan
I was so wrong. The plot took a different route. The funny thing is that at the end of the book the author put a little note saying that she intended to do just as I thought, and make Tyler go back to his ex, but that Tyler in her head just wouldn't do it. And that the story played out different than she had outlined. And I am so glad that it did! Instead of Tyler dating Jordan like I thought. He went on 2 non-dates with her. He tells her they are non-dates just to say thanks for her work. He doesn't touch her, kiss her or nothing on these non-dates. I was glad of this because it felt less like he was using her. Then When he starts liking Jordan he tells Jordan that he needs time to think. That he is just coming out of a 3 year relationship. He tells her he doesn't do hook-ups or flings. That he wanted to be sure of what he wants before he starts anything with her. Totally bringing up my respect for Tyler again. So when they fell in love in this book I knew Tyler was all about Jordan. I had no doubts. Then when his ex does come back he didn't choose or want her. He was Jordan's man period! And I enjoyed that so much! It gave me something different. Something unpredictable and much more enjoyable then what I thought I was getting!
"Have you ever laughed so hard you farted?" Tyler's mouth dropped open and he started at her with a gob smacked expression. "What?" "Have you ever....laughed so hard..you farted?" "Jordan, I don't feel comfortable-" "Answer the question," she said, pointing her knife at him like she was going to use it as a weapon.-Jordan and Tyler
Jordan OMG Jordan. I have a mad girl crush on her. I loved every single thing about Jordan. From her filthy mouth, to her sarcastic snarky attitude, she was perfect! She had no filter and just said what she thought! I love that there were just so many sides to Jordan. Nerdy Jordan, smart mouth Jordan, homicidal Jordan, sexy Jordan, playful friend Jordan, loving Jordan, and vulnerable Jordan. There was nothing about her I would change. Nothing! I felt the same way about Tyler. He was so different and I loved him. Nothing about him was predictable which made him fresh and exciting. He was an oddball. He did not talk about his feelings at all, he was set in this ways, and very controlled. He liked what he liked and he didn't want to rock the boat or try new things. He was socially awkward and not so great with communication outside the corporate world. Which made Tyler funny without even trying. I loved that Tyler had integrity. He didn't sleep with Jordan or start a relationship with her until he was sure that he wanted her! Tyler was also caring, sexy, and smart.
"I thought Aquarians are supposed to be insensitive. You going soft on me, Jordan?" "Ugh! Fuck. I am." She dropped over onto the sofa and threw her arms out on either side of her. "Just have sex with me and make me forget all this soppiness." "You're damaged goods, Roman,"-Tyler and Jordan
"Why is your girlfriend absconding?" "She's not absconding," Matthew answered. "She's pissed off so she probably just went home early." "Well, I found this note on her desk that says..." Mervin looked down at the piece of paper in his hand. "I'm absconding. Fuck you! Her words, not mine."-Mervin, Matt and Jordan(by note)
Tyler and Jordan were great together. A bit of an odd couple. Like oil and water they were so different that they clashed all the time and it was extremely amusing. But it also worked really well for them. They just fit together so nicely. Had a closeness that felt real. I loved how Jordan pushed Tyler out of his comfort zone. Made him try new things. Changing Tyler, making him a better man. But Tyler was still Tyler at his core. He maintained all the things about him that I loved and respected. I also loved how accepting of Jordan Tyler was. He didn't care that she put her foot in her mouth a lot, had crazy friends or was a goofball. He fell in love with her all of her. The sexual tension in this book was off the charts. And when they did get together hot dayum but Tyler could put it down! Mister Stiff shirt Evans had a dirty side and I Loved it! Jordan was a wildcat but with her personality that wasn't much of a shock.
"You have no idea what you do to me. These last few weeks....it felt like I couldn't breathe. You stripped the very air out of my lungs. And when you told me you love me, it weakened me, made me feel like my whole world would collapse if you weren't in it... and I didn't want you to know that....but now you do. You mean everything to me. You're strength and weakness at the same time. I feel so out of control when I'm with you...I feel more out of control when I'm not."-Tyler
Of course I got to take some time to talk about the awesome supporting characters in this book. Matt, Tyler's best friend of 19 years was just great. The bromance that him and Tyler had was so cute. The way they could pretty much read each others minds was funny as hell. They would have whole conversations by just saying each other's name or one or two words.
"Matthew." "Tyler." "Matthew." "Tyler?" "Matthew..." There. He got it. "Are you gonna be my wing-man tomorrow?" He heard a sigh on the other side of the phone. "I'll be there, Ty."-Tyler and Matt ********************************************************************** His smile disappeared when Matt stepped into his office. "Matthew." "Tyler." "Trouble?" "Fremont." "Bad?" "Got it covered. Victor?" "I'm on it." "Lunch meeting?" "Tomorrow." Tyler nodded his head towards her. "Jordan." "Gemma. Thursday?" "Sure." "See you later,Ty."-Tyler and Matt
Gemma and Neil Jordan's two besties were off the charts crazy and hilarious. They had such big personalities. I just couldn't help but love them and want them as my own besties! The shit that came out their mouths had me rolling. My God they were crazy!
"C'mon," Neil coaxed. "We could have some beers, some Rohypnol-" "Isn't that a date-rape drug?" Tyler cut in. "It isn't rape if you yell surprise first." A sick smile twisted on his face. "Surprise!"-Neil and Tyler ************************************************************************* "Names like sweetheart and baby make me cringe," Gemma explained. "And most guys only call you that so that they don't have to remember your actual name." "I think pet names are sweet," he countered. "That's where you and I differ, Neilums. You see, if I am taking the time out of my very busy schedule to ride a man's cock....that bitch better know my name!"-Gemma and Neil
This whole book was super funny. I giggled, laughed and smiled so much my face hurt. I laughed so much that my husband kept asking me what was so funny. I would then read him the parts that made me laugh, and it made him laugh too. There was some push/pull in this book with Tyler wanting Jordan, but wanting to be sure that he was over his ex. But the angst of this book was balanced well with the humor so it was never torture. I also was surprised and absolutely loved how Tyler won Jordan back it was over the top, crazy funny, and also not something I ever read before. Their hea was perfect. I have to say I truly enjoyed ever single minute of this read. It was one of those books I loved so much, I wish you could wipe it from my mind, so I could reread it and enjoy it all over again for the first time. I really liked the cover it was very cute! The author also gave a peek at Kevin's book to come and I am really looking forward to reading it. I have a soft spot for grumpy assholes and Kev seems like he is going to have some real asshole moments. *Claps hands* Can't wait! Also I really hope Matt gets his own book maybe with Gemma?
This is the book by the author that I wanted to read, but then I thought let me read the previous books before starting on this one. Out of the three, the first’s description seemed uninspiring, so I picked the second - The Journal- but that was a disaster.
So I began this with some trepidation and little expectation. But it was a lovely surprise. The writing, the execution and the tone were so much more evolved and polished. That was quite a journey from the previous one. It had the stamp of an accomplished chick lit author all over it.
The story goes as per the description. The H takes out the h, his PA/accountant, to make his ex jealous enough to come back to him but without enlightening the h to his motive. He does tell her the dinners are not regular dating just as an appreciation of her good work. Over months he loses sight of his actual reason of spending time with her and starts enjoying their time together. Of course, the path to true love for confused, emotionally unavailable Hs is not easy. The whole experience in his words . . .
Take one stupid idea, add two fake dates and throw in a couple lies. Mix thoroughly and wait for that to simmer. Once the mixture is heated and starts to separate, add shame and regret in equal parts and chuck in some childish games. A sprinkle of hurt, a dash of jealousy, and just a tiny pinch of sabotage. A heaped teaspoon of ex-girlfriend drama always goes a long way, so be sure to throw that into the mix as well. Go easy on communication, though. It might spoil the batter. And then let it cook. Now for the last step. This part is crucial, so pay attention. When tensions reach boiling point, pour on a thick layer of rejection. Tact should not be used in any way or form and don’t bother to sugar coat it. Doing so will completely ruin the bitter aftertaste. There. All done. Now sit back and enjoy the mess that has been created. The recipe for disaster – tried, tested and perfected by Tyler Evans.
I loved this couple and their funny banter. The h was a sassy extrovert and totally in your face. Her two best friends were even worse- unrepentantly loud and vulgar. It was almost a rite of passage for the H to like them and be liked by them.
The H began as a stuffed shirt and the h prodded and pulled him out to be a more easy going and open person. First time I read a H who was a hypochondriac, it was just so quirky and endearing. All this and then he ended up as this hot albeit faux BDSM sex god. And I was not expecting it as he kept priggishly baulking at having sex with her for most of the book.
It was light and funny, with an amazing personal and sexual chemistry between the h/H, but at the same time had that dash of angst to give the reader the whole enchilada. I liked how the book showed that love can change a person or at least release the true inner self.
This book brought a different atmosphere from the first book. More lighthearted, while not lacking the conflict.
This book cracked me up! Funny in a low key kind of way. Not trying too hard to be funny, but as an inherent characteristics traits.
I really liked the connection between the characters. One word communication between Tyler and Matthew was just too cute. Gemma and Neil were simply out of this world. But my favorite was of course Tyler and Jordan.
Their growing relationship was so fun to follow. I laughed out loud when Jordan first felt icky because she started to notice how attractive Tyler was. And it's the same with Tyler. But their physical attraction was developing because they also attracted to each other's personalities.
And I just have to mention the sexual tension. It's scorching hot! I think author really succeeded on that part, which was pretty important in a romance novel.
Some might be annoyed by push and pull Tyler had going. But I definitely saw where he came from, and the author gave good explanation why Tyler behaved that way. For me, I respect his decision not to jump to another relationship so soon when the previous one ended badly, despite his strong attraction to Jordan.
I just loved the abundance of cliché in this book, but they didn't make the story any less special. And I was glad the author didn't go to the public confession route, because that's one cliche that will always make me cringe.
But this book also had some hiccups. The cowboy night at Q's; I felt it was unnecessary too long, like a filler. And some people may find some things offensive, like Neil's rape joke and Gemma's drinking and driving (after cowboy night at Q's).
But my ultimate disappointment was even until the book ended, I still didn't know who Abby's baby-dady was! I was so invested but you just left me hanging, author! How could you? I can't even...
Anyway, this was a very entertaining read. The writing was engaging, the conversation flowed nicely. And I really like the author's sense of humour. Totally recommended. Can't wait for the third book, which seems to be another different experience.
*5 TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY, INSANELY IN LOVE WITH TYLER FUCKING EVANS STARS*
Let me start off by saying that after reading Wanting to Remember, Trying to Forget(WTR). I was impatiently waiting for the release of the second part in this stand-alone series, Childish Games. However, once I saw there was a millionaire boyfriend involved I was doubting reading it because I am so sick of these awful millionaire/billionaire bf books. But curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to suck it up and give it a try.
BEST DECISION EVER!!!!
It’s taken me 4 days to write this review, because I have sat swooning AND drooling over Tyler Evans for the past FOUR days. I cannot get this man out of my system and every time I go back to get quotes for this review I get sucked right back into this story. It is so difficult to find quotes because I just love this entire fucking book.
The humour in this book was brilliant, I laughed until my tummy hurt, and the humour was there from beginning to end. I blushed until my cheeks were sore. I would blush every time Tyler said something weird or cute and that happened quite often, although he was a serious man, he was funny without even realising it and it was that very characteristic that had me day dreaming for FOUR FUCKING DAYS.
Ok so getting back on track.
The MC’s were truly A-FUCKING-MAZING! The side characters as well, Gemma, Neil, Matt, Gary (BEST FRIGGEN FRIENDS ON THE PLANET), Jordan’s family, oh dear, I fell in love with every single character in this book EVEN Mervin, the asshole.
But Tyler, lord help me… God, he was hot! Literally. Figuratively. Physically. Just. So. Fucking. HOT! He was all man. Rough and Strong.
Tyler Evans is thee strangest character I have ever encountered. “The combination of personality traits one would not ordinarily associate together. Serious yet funny. Drama queen yet domineering. Weird yet so charming. Good guy yet a self-proclaimed bad-ass.”
He was a breath of fresh air. He ISN’T your typical millionaire, he’s just so loveable. He is a different type of Alpha Male. Domineering, sexy, and yet at same time so humble and down to earth.“Put him in a boardroom and he dominated, exuding power and confidence”. Despite his odd persona, I caught glimpses of his dominating personality quite early in the book - the first kiss, the scene leading up to the first kiss with Timothy Coldwell OMG how hot was that stare down, the second kiss and then the scene in the kitchen. So when the sex finally came in, good lawd - well, needless to say…I just about turned into a steaming puddle on the floor.
There are no words to describe Tyler. “Therein lies the problem, Jordan,” he said, still trying to hide that goofy grin. “Charm like this can’t be turned off. It’s not my fault I have the ability to make them good girls go bad.” Her giggles came out so hard she almost choked. “Did you just quote Cobra Starship? How do you even know that song?” “I told you I have a wild side.” “Total bad-ass,” she agreed with a nod.”
And as for his thoughts, I have never laughed so hard for a book, getting into his head was the best part of this book for me.
So onto the gist: Tyler’s best friend Matthew conjures up a ridiculous plan to help Tyler get his ex-girlfriend Trisha back. Matt tells his best friend of 19 years that jealousy is the oldest trick in the book and suggests that Tyler pretend to date someone else. And the lucky pawn in this game just happens to be the jaunty Jordan Shepard.
What he didn’t anticipate however, was that his little accountant would catch him by complete surprise. After several planned and unplanned “not-a-date” sessions between them, and after an “inappropriate” visit to her house. He starts falling for Jordan.
Who could blame the guy? She was extraordinary. Jordan is hands down my favourite female lead from any book. She is sarcastic and witty, she’s feisty, intelligent and has such a zest for life. She doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her and Tyler finds that so liberating. She’s also beautiful."In the space of a few weeks, he had seen professional Jordan, casual Jordan, sexy Jordan, messy Jordan, but imperfect Jordan…imperfect Jordan was something to behold."
But the more time Tyler spent with her, the more confused he became and it became a lot more difficult to execute this plan. "She was exquisite, beautiful without even really trying. She giggled and told jokes and he could feel himself being pulled deeper into this tangled web."
"Tyler groaned his aggravation. He was twenty-nine years old, too old to be playing these stupid childish games."
But Jordan was also taken aback by her boss: "He wasn’t like other rich people she knew. There were no classes or different social standings in his eyes.” The joke, however, was completely unexpected and almost surreal. It was nice to see him that way. Refreshing. When he laughed, his brown eyes lit up and his nose crinkled in the most adorable way, making him…kinda handsome…borderline attractive and — she would never admit this out loud — unbelievably…sexy. Ugh! Barf!" She knew she was in trouble…
So they start spending considerable time together and although Tyler is confused he just can’t seem to get enough of Jordan, and even though he couldn’t admit it out loud he was falling for her and he needed to make a decision and that’s exactly what he did. “time to stop being weak, time to let go and just free-fall into the abyss of imperfect Jordan”
And good grief Like OH MY GOD!!! I just loved them so damn much. The conversations, the jokes, him giving her Roman as a pet name because of her foul mouth. Them watching a mindless soap opera and arguing over who Abby’s baby daddy was. The games, the jealousy, the antics, the chemistry and the sex… OMFG THE SEX!!!!
"long, hard strokes that extracted every kind of oh from her mouth. “Oh, fuck…oh, God…oh, Tyler…” Imperfect Jordan in ecstasy – the sexiest sight in the world."
"Three times already she’d been tied down and it wasn’t because he was the type of guy who had a red room and was into bondage. He just hated her hands and he gave himself an advantage when he took them out of the equation."
I became addicted, I became obsessed with these two. Wanting to know more. NEEDING to know more. I just didn’t want it to end.
BUT…. when a relationship starts off on a pretense. Shit is bound to hit the fan! Trisha comes back, and Jordan finds out that Tyler had only asked her out to get Trisha back. Now this is where I thought the book would go off the rails. I thought it was either going to be too dramatic, or Jordan was going to turn into an insecure mess.
Because even at this point in the book I was still laughing my head off. Oh my, it was just hilarious, despite the fact that they were both hurting, this author still kept the comedy in this book on par. Even when it dipped into sad parts like Perry’s funeral, which mind you was very sad, there was still humour. I felt every bit of emotion in this book. IT WAS BRILLIANT!!!
I must say it was remarkable seeing how this book and WTR came together. The bonds within this family, each of them have a different type of relationship with each other, it was just beautiful witnessing that.
Look, I could go on forever, trust me you just NEED to read this book to understand. I have never read a book where I loved the MC’s AS WELL as the side characters so much. Neil and Gemma gosh I wish I had friends like that. I honestly cannot believe that Neil is based on a real person. “We could have some beers, some Rohypnol—” “Isn’t that a date-rape drug?” Tyler cut in. “It isn’t rape if you yell surprise first.” A sick smile twisted on his face. “Surprise!” They were real charms in this book
And as for Matthew I fell in love with him. His playfulness, his sarcasm, his mischievousness. The friendship between Tyler and Matthew. OMG. I just… I can’t even explain it. When I say I loved every tiny detail of this book, I mean it!!! Heck I even got hooked on the damn soap opera. And I’m sure the burning question in everyone’s mind is: Who the hell is Abby’s baby-daddy???
This book also made me fall more in love with the Shepard family. I’m even more eager to read Kevin’s book now. This poor soul, my heart really bleeds for him.
I really don’t want this series to come to an end, I feel like I actually know the Shepard’s. Each book shows you a bit more, a different layer of each character and its captivating. Although they’re all stand-alone books, each book gives you just enough to whet your appetite and keep you intrigued for the next. I would recommend this book a million times over. It’s the type of book that stays on your mind long after you’ve finished reading it.
I chuckled out loud a couple of times. I wish the character of the hero had been developed a bit more. We were told that he was paranoid and a great drama queen but didn't really see that acted out much to set the stage for how he dithered during the course of the book. But on the whole it was fun to read about a guy who wasn't so sure of himself in every instance. I liked the heroine also. There were a couple of spots where what was going on was sort of unclear. Like things that happened in another book that you were assumed to have already read. But then again there were a couple of things that I thought could not possibly have happened in another book that we were just supposed to know what was going on. Those were minor issues and I just let them slide off my back since they didn't really impact the story.
Just as a matter of interest, this book takes place in Washington state but I could tell it wasn't written by an American because of some word choices. For example the hero kept wearing a vest when he worked out. I'm assuming the author meant a sleeveless t shirt. To Americans a vest is a "close-fitting, waist-length, sleeveless garment that buttons down the front, designed to be worn under a jacket." Like you'd wear to a wedding. There were other word choices that also showed the author wasn't American. Turns out she's from South Africa. So I'm not saying it's a bad thing or that it somehow makes the book bad. Just that as a person who has a degree in English it is fun for me to notice these things.
But I digress. I liked the book. I recommend it for anyone wanting a fun couple of hours.
I don't know where to go with this. I bought this .. I don't remember why.
Tyler has been dumped by his snotty ex, Trisha, and wants her back. His BF Mathew comes up with the idea to make her jealous by prancing another woman under her nose. Their selection is the incredibly sassy Jordan, an employee. What they failed to do is clue Jordan in on the secret which turns out to be a fatal flaw later.
The faux romance proceeds and the incredibly uptight Tyler is drawn more and more to Jordan's open and breezy personality. In a sense, he becomes the guy that Trisha thought she wanted. Trials and tribulations happen when Tyler's plans succeeds and piques Trisha's interest but implodes when Jordan gets a sniff of the original intent of the scam.
Th cast of secondary characters rocks: Jordan has a plethora of brothers and zany friends not to mention Tyler's BF has some promising quirks as well. I am definitely interested enough to read another in this series I just can't decide who I want to read about.
The hero undertakes quite a jump in personality. He goes from shut down beta then springs into an alpha sex frenzy that, well, took both the heroine and me by surprise.
Uh oh. I already read one of the others and I wasn't too kind. Re-group. Maybe it was the funeral.
“Her eyes were focused on his mouth, wanting, craving. It was at this point that he felt his self-control grow wings and flutter away. She nipped her lower lip with her teeth, debating something with herself for a few seconds before her arms slipped around his neck to pull him closer.”
This should be made into a romantic comedy; it was so funny and just absolute perfection. Tyler is such a guy, and his quirks are priceless. My favorite chapter was The Execution when he’s trying to figure out how to ask Jordan out on a date...hysterical. His obsession with her breasts killed me. Jordan’s response to him killed me even more. The fact that he calls Gemma, Jordan’s roommate, a clown-mugger had me laughing so hard. Absolutely loved Jordan’s lack of filter, it just made this story even better. The way Tyler fights his feelings for her is ridiculously funny. His stuttering and awkwardness around Jordan is endearing and charming, and just downright cute. Their first kiss was the perfect blend of steamy and comedy. I absolutely love Tyler Evans! Tyler Evans is the epitome of uptight and upright. He doesn’t curse, not easily amused, gets wild by ordering Veal and he doesn’t even know how to ask a girl out. But he’s also handsome, charming, smart and sweet. He also suffers from a broken heart, one that he seeks to mend. Trisha, his stuck up, rich, snooty ex left him and he wants to get her back. Matt and Tyler’s friendship just gets the ball rolling. I enjoyed their conversations so much. He decides to follow Matthew, his best friend’s plan, but his plans take a sharp turn- right into Jordan Shepard. Jordan is carefree, humble, curses up a storm, likes to drink and really doesn’t care what comes out of her mouth. Their relationship is a riot and Jordan seems to liberate Tyler. She shows him what it means not to care, to just have fun, to know how to love. She complimented him in so many ways. This story was an absolute delight to read. I loved every minute of it! Jacqueline Francis did it once again. The romance in this book is just really heartfelt and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it. A highly recommended read!
I cannot explain how much I loved this book! Francis writes with amazing realism and hilarious wit that makes it impossible to get through to the next page- but in a good way! You're too busy laughing. or in my case, rereading the jokes and sweet talk. I also love series that deal with multiple characters that all intertwine; go read book 1 - it is just as awesome.
This book follows hot-shot Tyler Evans. He and his best friend come up with a plan to make Tyler's ex jealous in attempt to get her back. In comes Jordan, the accountant at Tyler's business. At first, she is just a means to an end... but once Tyler realizes how amazing other fish in the sea can be, his hard outer shell starts to melt.
Needless to say, I smudged it! I want more of these two!
This was entertaining at times, but the constant slurs and casual microaggressions completely threw me. For a book written barely a decade ago, the language was genuinely mind-boggling and it drained the fun right out. The hero needed far more character growth and the rape jokes are never funny. The epilogue was underwhelming. I enjoyed pieces of it, but the bad is loud enough to make rating this a struggle.
Title: Childish Games Author: Jacqueline Francis Publisher: Amazon Digital ISBN: 987-1-620-69797-2 Buy Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01... Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel Blurb: Meet the Shepards 2
Maybe he should have thought this through…
Total Score: 5/5
Summary: From the very beginning, I was fascinated by both Tyler and his friend Matthew because their ability to interact using few words enabled the reader to understand that their friendship was deeper than initially imagined. It wasn't until later in the story that their past history was revealed. Tyler's laid back attitude towards his employees and his crazy behavior was refreshing and very amusing. Matthew's scheme to help Tyler get his ex-fiance, Trisha, back was bad doomed form the start when they decided to use Jordan, an employee, to make Trisha jealous, but they told her of their plans. As you would figure things like that never quite work out as planned causing hurt feelings, chaos, and confusion as the plot unfolded. Now I can't leave out Justin's friends Neil and Gemma who's offbeat attitudes, unrestrained conversations, and unswerving loyalty brought confusion, laughter, and friendship to the story. Add this this all the insanity that Jordan's own brothers bring, and you have a story that never lets up until the very end.
While I really enjoyed the book, there were frequently no separation between scenes making it initially difficult to follow along until the reader adjusted to the story. That is the only reason it received a 4 instead of 5 stars. By adding something to allow the reader to see that the scene was changing would make the story easier to follow. Other than that I really enjoyed it and will be waiting for Kevin, one of Jordan's Brother. Story.
Yet again, another fun, enchanting read. If you're looking for a great read that will have you laughing your butt off, with amazing characters and one that also has a wonderful fun romance to it, then quit searching because THIS IS IT. This book has it all! I must admit, this author is very fast becoming one of my favourite authors. Three books and I've positively LOVED every single one. I think I can safely say that I am officially in love with the Shepard's. This has got to be the craziest most real family that I have EVER encountered in a book (series). If you enjoyed the first in the series Wanting to Remember, Trying to Forget , then believe me when I say that you are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE Childish Games. I thought the characters in the first book were gripping, but the characters in this one wow. I loved them. I'm convinced these are real people because they are all so authentic. These friendship and family bonds are so extremely genuine. Its so difficult not to become attached to these characters, its as if they were your own group of friends or family. The plot, the humour, the characters all absolutely brilliant!!! After reading this one I'm even more anxious to find out what happened with Kevin and the " bat-shit crazy" girl. She really messed him up big time. I can't wait to find out what happened between them.
Wow, I can't believe it's the same author that wrote The Journal and Wanting To Remember. It's incredible how she can write 3 totally different genre's. I giggled as I read (I don't want to think of what the people in my office thought) because the characters are witty and the things they come up with "sounds like a donkey in the midst of an orgasm"....it totally killed me! Tyler needs someone like Jordan in his life to bring balance. He's a driven business man who can't express his feelings and Jordan understands him. The way WTR is intertwined is very clever and also brings a deeper understanding of the scene in the next book. Can't wait to read Kevin's book......so Jacqueline.....hurry up!!!
It was an interesting read. I enjoy slightly awkward, geeky heroes, and this had that. I did enjoy how the story was a little different, and the humour was good. I'm very glad that there is an epilogue, but the ending still was a three star for me. The beginning of the book was better in my opinion, perhaps four stars - it was fun. As an aside, I don't understand why the hero was described as a drama queen. He was a little odd, serious and careful. And not a manwhore! Yay! But I didn't get a drama queen vibe at all.
Tyler and Trisha have had a rocky relationship for 3 years. Now, she’s engaged to someone else, but Tyler can’t shake that she must still love him, even though he never told her that.
So he has 6 months ‘til the wedding—6 months to break them up.
Jordan is a single gal, who has been working as Tyler’s accountant for a few years. She’s “lanky, weird, slightly psycho Jordan,” according to Tyler, which is why he would never think of pretending to date her—but it may be the only way to get Trisha back and Jordan seemed to be the perfect candidate with no attachments and no complications, thus, marking the beginning of “childish games.”
Book was outlined in a series of tasks: plot, execution, the date, the aftermath, the mistake, a little bump in the road, etc.
Readers will enjoy Tyler’s floundering attempts to complete his mission, especially when he tries to ask out Jordan and could not help but stare at her breasts. Classic! Best part about it was that Jordan noticed his ogling and didn’t take any crap about it. My eyes are up here! I liked Jordan. She’s prompt, efficient, and skilled—always the professional— but she’s also smart, savvy, and up-front, and she knows that Tyler is up to something and is determined to find out.
Cute, witty, and funny! You’ll love how these two skirt around each other to uncover hidden agendas, until they look up and notice something they didn’t see before. He sees that Jordan’s not like Trisha—so un-normal and ordinary—and Tyler is not the arrogant a-#hole she thought he was. Of course, the all-mighty Princess Bride Trisha is not buying any of it. How could this be? He’s Mr. Billionaire and she’s Plain Jane. It’s a regular She’s All That, and these cliques are about to have a showdown. It’s a wonderfully awkward union of geek and chic.
Not only is the story funny, but the characters have an endearing vulnerability that opens up their hearts and complicates matters even more. I mean, there’s nothing more complicated than falling for your boss!
Funny book... Really funny. Tyler was such an adorable goofball lol. Quite unrealistic for a powerful CEO like him lol but it was cute and funny. Jordan..eh, she was slightly over the top. I didn't dislike her but let's say I liked Tyler better.
He totally messed up with his plan but she kind of forced his hand when he asked for more time. The tiny bit of angst we had at the end was annoying but since the characters were so funny it was tolerable lool... I liked all of them, Mervin Neil Matt Gemma even Barbara lool
I couldn't stand Trisha on the other hand. The bih was annoying. You broke up with Ty with no explanation, and now because you need closure you keep harassing him? I was glad when he politely told her to go F herself (such a gentleman <3 )
I love this author's writing style but I won't read the rest of the serie. I didn't really like Jordan's family.
One of the main reasons I enjoyed this book is due to the similarity between myself and my namesake, with the broken brain to mouth filter and swearing like a sailor.
I very much enjoyed Tyler as a character, his inner conflict was well depicted and what I absolutely loved about him is he didn’t even make the active decision to be all-on, but when he finally opened himself up to her, he was unwavering - he just wasn’t great at expressing it.
If I’m honest, Jordan’s anger with Tyler felt a little forced, maybe it’s because she refused to share with the author everything about her anger, but Jordan really wanted to be angry and her reasoning was weak sauce (I blame Jordan).
It tied together nicely and Jacqui did a great job tying this in with the other books (I already finished 3, that’s how I know)
Good job! :P

Over all liked it alot. While her newer books a more advanced in writing, you can still feel the realness of the hero and heroine in this book. And the feels! I loved, that he wasnt this alpha douche millionaire and that they joked about him not being a billionaire. It was so endearing. The hero was so cute. The heroine aswell. Liked them both and loved it.
