With the advent of K'T and other technological advancements, teaching of mathematics has become a more challenging task. Many states have introduced newer methods of teaching such as Activity Based Learning (ABC), Active Learning Method (ALM) etc. for enhancing quality learning and joyful learning. For effective implementation of such methods the 'would be' teachers should have adequate exposure to the theoretical bases for such methodology. With this objective the pre-service teacher education programmes have been revamped in many states to meet the challenges arising out of such situation and the state of Andhra Pradesh is no exemption. This book is prepared keeping in mind the new syllabus for Mathematics Education prescribed by .Osmania University for B.Ed programme. This book serves as a text book for pre-service teacher trainees, a reference book for teacher educators and a practical guide for mathematics teachers. In this book the subject matter is presented in ten units. Each unit covers the content under study extensively with definitions, examples, illustrations, guidelines and so on. The simple and lucid language used in the text facilitates easy reading and better understanding of the subject matter. Sincere and conscious efforts are made to integrate theory and practice wherever possible by illustrating each concept / method with examples / topic room high school mathematics. This provides ample opportunities or the teacher trainees / teachers to transfer their training to real classroom situation. I am sure that this book will provide adequate practical hints and guidelines to the 'would-be' teachers to become good and effective teachers of mathematics.
