"Any reader with a love for faeries, magic, and sometimes dark character motivations will love Tangled Web." - Online Book Club

"I couldn't put it down... This is a must read for anyone who enjoys fantasy." Carrie Rachelle Johnson, author of Journey to Glory.

When fifteen year old foster kid and diagnosed schizophrenic, Ryne, bumps into a strange man only she can see, the carefully constructed pretenses of her life start to crumble, forcing Ryne to choose between the safe, mundane, mortal world that’s labeled her crazy, or the magickal world of nightmares she has spent her life pretending doesn’t exist.

The truth will set you free. Not. At least, not for Arrynna Doe. The only thing the truth will bring Ryne is a straight jacket and a room at the local, state funded institution, again. So she lies- to her doctors, to her foster parents, to her best friend. Because, really, who’s going to believe there is a whole world filled with terrifying magickal creatures only she can see- faeries, witches, vampires, and werewolves, even dragons? That’s right, nobody!

Ryne has her routine mastered- pretend you’re normal, lie to everyone you know, ignore supernatural beings. And the routine works, until the day she acquires stalkers. Faerie stalkers.

As Ryne struggles to keep her days normal, she finds herself questioning the tenets’ of her life. Why can she see things that no one else can and why are these creatures suddenly interested in her? Because maybe there is more to it all than she ever dreamed.

Will she discover the truth? Or is she just as crazy as the doctors have always said? Either way, Ryne is facing a crossroads, and pretty soon she’s going to have to make a choice.

Well, what do I say to such an amazing and well-told story? Let's start from the beginning, shall we.
Tangled Web by: L.W. Tichy is a fun, entertaining and mesmerizing read. The book follows a child, Arrynna Doe, who is diagnosed with schizophrenia early on, because she claims she sees monsters everywhere. She is found as baby, placed in a loving home...until something drastic happens, and then gets bounced into the unfortunate world of the parent-less. Having been seen as 'crazy' by every single person she comes in contact with, 15 year old Arrynna(Ryne), almost loses it when a certain someone begins stalking her, after bumping into her; which then leads to drawing more interested looks her way. As the book progresses smoothly, Ryne is caught in a whirlwind of emotions stronger than the winds of a category 4 hurricane and doesn't know which side is up and how she will ever get things back to normal.
The plot of this book was endearingly genius, from start to finish. The pace wasn't too slow or too fast, but perfect. I didn't grow bored or have to reread a few pages because I missed something that wasn't explained previously. The descriptions were magnifyingly vivid, I could picture each and every scene the author described like I was right there with Arrynna. Characters...loved them! Each of the characters had their own personality which can be very hard to define, but, L.W. Tichy did a great job on each one of them. My favorite characters by far is: Arrynna(obviously) No? And then there is Wrathin(love him to the moon and back) and finally, but not in the least, Dina, I would befriend her any day. Each of the characters are great, but those three, I felt a connection with the most. The Dialogue was good, not too typical. There were a few instances where I just knew what the character was going to say, but, not overly so. And the devious minds of some of them!
Overall, I absolutely adored reading this book! Not only was this book amazing to the point where I couldn't put it down, but I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! Yes, that good. I read this book in record time and wished book 2 was out already!
With that said, I absolutely and highly recommend this book to everyone! Well...maybe 16+. :)

Tangled Web is a perfect young adult novel. Not only does it follow a well developed young adult character, but it also introduces this audience to the paranormal/fantasy genres in a mature, but age appropriate way. I enjoyed this novel now as much as I would have when I was a part of this audience, and that is very important. Young adult novels should be able to be enjoyed by adults as much as young adults, and this novel didn't talk down to its audience at all; instead, the audience was an active part of this novel, and that shows great talent in the author.

L.W. Tichy grasped the conflicting emotions of adolescents perfectly in her protagonist, Ryne. Even though Ryne was dealing with people not believing what she was seeing, this perfectly mirrored the struggles that teens face when trying to come to terms with who and what they want to become. She was seen as an outcast in this novel, but she was special and her quirks made her interesting. I am a big fan of the paranormal genre, and this novel incorporated Ryne's paranormal abilities beautifully. It was wonderful watching her become a young woman and become more sure of herself. I also found the message in this novel to be beautiful: don't pretend to be someone else and just be who you really are. It was also endearing to see the close relationship that Ryne had with her parents. The positive view on family was special and not one that I see very often in literature anymore.

Even though the writing was a bit whiny at times, the story was well developed and thought out. I didn't see a lot of artistry in Tichy's writing, but their dry writing style allowed the reader to fill in the blanks and create the world of Tangled Web in their own way. Tichy clearly understood her characters and let them tell the story themselves. Tangled Web is a perfect novel for readers of all ages, but I am positive that it will be a great book for young adults to bond with, because it will make anyone feel that they are not alone.

Ok. So I stayed up all night reading. Can’t be because I love missing sleep! Of course, it was only 266 pages.
I was entranced by this world and Ryne’s way of dealing with it as she grows up. Relating to that “broken” feeling.
The truth will set you free ….. NOT!
At least not for Arrynna Doe. The only thing the truth will bring is a straight jacket and a room at the local, state funded institution, Again.
So she lies. Because who believes a world filled with terrifying faeries, witches, and dragons even exists ?

This fantasy novel is a real page-turner. I couldn't put it down. It is an original, creative story about a girl stuck between two worlds. I have never read anything like it! The author does an excellent job of detailing her magical world and then making it integrate well with the modern world. The characters have different personalities that make the story even more enjoyable. There are a few sensual scenes and slight language, but they are not graphic or frequent. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys fantasy. The ending is a real cliff-hanger which makes me want the sequel now.

I have never been much of
a reader but from the moment I started this book I could not put it down! The author really has a way of making you fall in love with each character! They all have such different personalities that are so well written that I like I know them all personally and yet not sure of what they may do! I do have to say her witty best friend Dina is probably my favorite! Her descriptions of each scene and character are the perfect amount of vivid and entertaining without going over the top with something long and drawn out. She switches between 2 different worlds (the faerie world and the mortal world) which makes the book such a captivating read. I was enthralled in each page, chapter, dialogue, and moment! I cannot wait for book two to come out! Amazing for a first time author and perfect for young adults! A must have read!

The book is well written. Things move too slowly. I was constantly glancing at the page numbers. The author must be a fan of Frank Herbert's Dune. A bunch of the character names were reminiscent of it.

When you are born being able to see things that most people can't and no one is willing to believe you, life can be difficult if not downright painful, lonely and depressing. That is what Arrynna has faced, abandoned at a hospital upon her birth, she was beautiful and calm, everyone at the hospital loved her, but once she started seeing monsters, life got even rougher. Abandoned once again by the only parents she knew at age five when they could no longer deal with the things she saw, she has grown up in institutions and learned to make believe the world is normal and see doesn't see things. All that changes when the Faerie Kings take an interest in her and start trying to find out more about her. Tangled Web (The Arrynna Doe Trilogy Book 1) starts the journey to find out why Arrynna is special and what she means to the Faerie world, the Unseelie Court and the magikal community as a whole. Author L.W. Tichy develops a multilayered story that lives up to the Tangled Web name.

Tangled Web is titled as the start to a trilogy, and given the many layers of story that are woven together into a very tangled web, there is no way a single book could convey the story justly. Life for Arrynna was starting to get manageable, she had a set of foster parents that pretty much left her alone, she was doing pretty well at ignoring the magikal world that only she could see and she was hoping to just live a semi-normal life. Of course nothing can ever go easy for her, her whole life has been a struggle and with the Kings of the Seasonal Courts all taking an interest in her, each for different reasons, she is about to be pulled into more than she could ever have imagined. Author L.W. Tichy has created a current world with all the social issues of today entangled with a magikal world that is ripe for upheaval, and so many layers of story, each character has a different story line or two that is all woven into this web that becomes an engaging, provocative story that you can't put down.

Arrynna is an orphan, whose stories of myths and monsters leave her on psychiatric medication at a young age. When she is the only witness to her adoptive brother’s disappearance, and all she will say is that the monster took him, her adopters put her back into the system, and Ryne spends years institutionalised. By the time she is finally adopted again, she has learned not to speak of what she sees – and her strategy works, right up until she accidentally walks into a Lord of Faerie on the street. The world of Faerie has ignored her only so long as it believed Arrynna could not see it…

LW Tichy’s world of Tangled Web pulls on all the threads of our childhood fairy tales, with beings from the realms of Faerie walking glamoured amongst humans. The character-building is credible, well-geared for the YA genre, and the descriptions are well-done, evocative and colourful without sweeping the reader off their feet in a flood of adjectives. The story provides a light and cheerful read that nonetheless draws on serious themes, from the need of a child to feel it belongs to the power of trust and friendship. Definitely a worthwhile read with much to offer for YA and fantasy readers alike.
