'Team Awkward' is a lot like those video compilations that are just a famous person saying a funny word over and over again. The first time it's amusing. The second time it brings a smile, but past the tenth time all sense of humour has vanished.
I think the main problem is that this series isn't playing up to the 'It Girl' potential enough! We never see Anna at premieres, or runways or photoshoots. For someone that's been sky-rocketed to fame status, she sure isn't acting famous. I really wish we got to see more of Anna juggling the balance between being in the spotlight and having a regular life, and every time I don't get that, I feel stupidly disappointed.
The It Girl series also struggles to find a voice of its own. I'm seeing a lot of Georgia Nicholson and Harriet Manners and Mia Thermopolis in Anna, but not enough Anna. Clumsiness isn't a big enough flaw to carry the humour and the series through more books, unfortunately.

Един спортен празник, множество нелепи ситуации с Ана, а очите на всички отново са вперени в нея. Книгата изобилстваше от смешни моменти, а главната героиня на романа беше все така непохватна, неловка, саркастична и обградена от добри приятели и роднини, които невинаги ѝ дават най-правилните съвети. „Отбор загубеняци“ от Кейти Бърчал беше също толкова забавна и сладка, колкото предшественичката си. Обичам хуморът на авторката и препоръчвам с две ръце тази книги за летните почивни дни!

I still have all the same issues with this book as I did the first. The opening joke of Anna falling in a plant pot was dragged out way too much, but I am living for Rebecca and Helena's friendship.

I loved the first book in this series, so when Team Awkward landed on my door step I was pleasantly surprised, but disappointed that I wouldn't find time to fit it in before publication. Months later and the Easter weekend off work, I dove head first into this book, and devoured it in a matter of hours. With that in mind, I have no review notes for this book, I'm writing this review from what I can remember.
The thing I love about this series the most is it isn't a serious book, you don't have to think you way through twists and turns, it's a fun read that doesn't leave your brain packed with details. Its a perfect book to escape the world for a few hours.
Things are just as crazy for Anna as they were in the previous book, her Dad and Helena are trying to plan their wedding with some outrages dresses and ideas, Anna has also been slated by the press, as being an IT Girl for nothing. But Anna is determined to prove she can do something, even if it means volunteering herself as the Puffins captain for sports day, a decision made even worse when Anna has not got a sporty bone in her body. With the help of a fellow team mate, Anna starts her training, and although it's funny to read, it definitely puts me off running for life.
Anna is such a lovable character, you can't help feel sorry for her and the predicaments she gets herself into, one of them being gullible and believing Jess...which is something I can relate to.
Team Awkward brings back our favourite characters, including Dog. It draws us into the chaos of Anna's life, but leaves us laughing at the events that occur. We get to meet a few new faces who only end up in our good books, and it leaves Sophie with a lot to be embarrassed about
Final Verdict
Team Awkward is a fun, quick read, and is sure to appeal to fans of the Geek Girl series.

This month, I finally got round to finishing the It Girl trilogy, and I didn`t regret it at all. The 2nd book sees Anna navigate not only her newfound fame but also the trials of sport day. This provides much of the humour of the story, along with high-maintenance dog Dog, and let me tell you, the humour is exceptional. I was audibly snorting more than once, and I really did love being in Anna`s world a lot. I think the characters are wonderful, and I also enjoyed new addition James. The email exchanges between the female members of Anna`s family were hilarious in places, as are their conversations in general. If you need a book to bring a smile to your face, this series is guaranteed to do the trick if your sense of humour is in any way similar to mine. 4.5/5

I really like how this book follows the life of a normal teenage life as well as the fame element Anna Huntly faces. One of my favourite parts is the focus of teamwork, inspiration and not giving up. It clearly shows you don't need to be the best at something to excel and that teamwork really is the best.
The it girl follows the life of Anna Huntly as she hides behind the attention of media and tries to change the media's perception of her. After her dad getting engaged to a famous actor all eyes are now on Anna. She faces the attention of the media and criticm of it girls being useless and famous for nothing. Anna is determined to change this, mainly in the hopes of winning over the boy she likes. But to do this Anna has to go out her comfort zone. She volunteers as sports day team captain to prove a point that with a bit of hard work and determination you can achieve whatever you put your mind to

Kevyenkevyt jatko-osa, jossa huumori vähän toistaa itseään ja juoni myös. Isän suhde maailmankuulun näyttelijän kanssa, siskopuoli on onneksi koonnut itsensä, saamaton poikaystävä ja väärinkäsityksien suo.
Tosin tykkäsin kyllä toimittajasta, joka kyseenalaistaa "it girlien" suosion ja heidän kuplansa sisällön. Sodassa turhuustyttöjen imagoa vastaan pitää tietysti ryhtyä urheilujoukkueen kapteeniksi, vaikka onkin maailman surkein liikunnassa, ja tästä taistosta kikkailtiin ainoa toimiva huumori kirjaan.
Sopii vinkattavaksi nelkku-vitosista kaseihin, siitä myös plussaa.

Wie der erste Teil auch ist dieses Buch recht amüsant und leicht mal eben so zu lesen.
Auch die Charaktere sind eigentlich ganz nett, allerdings führen sie zum Teil extrem unrealistische Gespräche.
Ich habe außerdem nicht verstanden, warum es ein großes Problem für Anna ist, dass sie für nichts Bestimmtes berühmt ist, weil das auch eigentlich keiner von ihr erwarten kann und sie ja theoretisch auch nicht darum gebeten hat, berühmt zu sein.
Darüber hinaus ist die Handlung zum Teil etwas vorhersehbar.
Naja insgesamt ganz nett, wenn auch etwas unlogisch.

Hilarious characters and much needed during these sad times!
What's not to like? The characters are all amazing and seriously one of the funniest things I've read in such a long time... And believe me I read all the time! I hope the Anna series continues for a very very long time!! In this day and age we are all desperately in need of laughs. So thank you to Katy Birchall for brightening up my life every time I read one of her books ❤️!

Once again, there a lot of very funny moments.
I was impressed by the imposter syndrome storyline (and she’s only 12 in the story, oof.) It reminded me of being an insecure tween, but it was also a hopeful storyline that ended in a satisfying way.
A lot of the relationships were very sweet, like the guy training her, Marianne’s boyfriend showing up to cheer for her, etc.
In other news: I was glad

Och wat heb ik weer heerlijk gelachen om Anna en om het commentaar van haar omgeving. Vreemd genoeg vind ik dat Anna's vader en mijn vader wel een beetje op elkaar lijken. Zou ik daarom ook zo awkward zijn?
De humor is gewoon heerlijk en ik zou dit boek aan alle meiden vanaf een jaar of elf aanraden!

i did enjoy this book but i didn’t find it as interesting as the first book in the series. it seemed to drag on however i liked Anna’s personality. i would like to read the last book in the series

Die Abenteuer unseres Lieblings It-Girl mit nerdigen Tendenzen gehen weiter. Kaum hat Anna sich ein bisschen an den Medienrummel gewöhnt, fällt sie kopfüber in einen Übertopf und wird unfreiwillig zum Youtube Hit. Hinzu kommt ein fieser Artikel der die Daseinsberechtigung und Vorbildfunktion von It.Girls in Frage stellt (Zugegeben, in der Realität, wäre ein solcher Artikel durchaus berechtigt). Anna fasst also den Plan sich zu beweisen und nicht mehr jedes Fettnäpfen mitzunehmen. Ausgerechnet das Sportfest soll Sportniete Anna dabei zum Erfolg helfen.
Tja, was soll ich sagen? Grobmotorikerin Anna läuft auch in diesem Band wieder zur unfreiwilligen Höchstform auf und beschert dem Leser eine urkomische Situation nach der anderen. Hinzu kommen natürlich der treudoofe Labrador Hund, ihre sarkastischen Freunde und Helena die in wahnwitzige Hochzeitspläne versinkt und Eulen und Pferde für eine prima Idee hält. Alles in allem geht es also genauso aberwitzig weiter wie im Vorgänger. Wobei ich sagen muss, dass es an manchen Stellen sogar schon etwas zu überspitzt war. So unkoordiniert wie Anna kann kein Mensch sein. Was nicht heißt dass es mir nicht ein Lächeln entlockte, als Anna mal wieder ihren Ruf als Tollpatsch alle Ehre macht.
Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt ist für mich der Anfang des Buches. Annas Selbstvertrauen und ihre Fixierung auf „Kein Looser sein“ erinnerten mich doch stark an den Beginn des Vorgängers und ich hatte das Gefühl Anna hat wieder bei null angefangen, was ich sehr ärgerlich fand. Glücklicherweise macht sie eine recht positive Entwicklung in diesem Band durch, sodass ich wieder zufrieden gestimmt war. Ich hoffe bloß, dass Anna im 3. Band dann nicht wieder von vorne beginnt. Mir ist durchaus bewusst, dass ich für manche von Annas Problemen einfach aus dem Alter raus bin, um sie wirklich nachzuvollziehen und dass jüngere Leser sich sich sehr gut mit Anna identifizieren können, aber eine gewisse weitere Entwicklung wäre dennoch wünschenswert.
Nichtsdestotrotz hat mich das Buch fabelhaft unterhalten und meine Lachmuskeln ordentlich in Anspruch genommen.
Fazit
Auch der 2. Band beansprucht mit liebevollen Charakteren, urkomsichen Situationen und witzigen Dialogen wieder die Lachmuskeln im höchsten Maße. Allerdings hätte ich mir bei Anna noch etwas mehr Charakterentwicklung gewünscht, damit es 5 Sterne geworden wären.

No sooner has Anna gotten used to the media hype than she falls headfirst into a planter and involuntarily becomes a YouTube hit. On top of that comes a nasty article questioning the raison d'être and role model function of It.Girls (admittedly, in reality, such an article would be quite justified). So Anna makes a plan to prove herself and not to take every faux pas anymore. Of all things, the sports festival is supposed to help sports rivet Anna succeed.
Well, what can I say? In this volume, Anna is once again at her unintentional best and provides the reader with one hilarious situation after another. In addition, of course, the faithful Labrador dog, her sarcastic friends and Helena who sinks into crazy wedding plans and owls and horses for a great idea. All in all, it goes on just as crazy as in the predecessor. Whereby I must say that in some places it was even a bit too exaggerated. No one can be as uncoordinated as Anna. Which doesn't mean that I didn't smile when Anna once again lives up to her reputation as a klutz.
Another point of criticism for me is the beginning of the book. Anna's self-confidence and fixation on "not being a loser" reminded me a lot of the beginning of the predecessor and I had the feeling Anna started from scratch again, which I found very annoying. Fortunately, she goes through quite a positive development in this volume, so I was again satisfied. I just hope that Anna doesn't start all over again in the 3rd volume. I'm well aware that I'm simply out of age to really understand some of Anna's problems, and that younger readers can identify with Anna very well, but some further development would still be desirable.
Nonetheless, the book entertained me fabulously and gave my laugh muscles a good workout.
Conclusion
Also the 2nd volume claims with loving characters, hilarious situations and funny dialogues again the laugh muscles in the highest degree. However, I would have liked Anna a little more character development, so that it would have been 5 stars.

Anna is back again! And in this book she tumbles through life again. Throwing discus in people’s faces backwards, really, don’t ask, falling in plant pots and much much more!
I was delighted when this book came in yesterday, finally my pre-order was here and finally I could read it! I have been looking forward to it ever since I finished book 1 and found out about 2.
Anna is a great character, hilarious, and I do wonder how she has survived up to age 14 so far. I mean, this girl is so accident prone that it is a miracle she is still in one piece (and those around her as well). OK, sure, she also has some good talents, but she has an uncanny skill to do something which she totally didn’t mean.
But she is also determined, determined to get better and to stop stumbling around. In this book we can also see it. She is at times depressed, but she still continues to try out, to try to find something she is good at, and that she wants to do.
Her crush on Connor was adorable, though I am sad we didn’t get a lot of romantic moments, I was really looking forward to it after the last book. :(
However, I do have to say that I didn’t always like Anna. She was just so depressing at times, and yes, I can imagine why, but still, I just got tired of her going on and on that she couldn’t do one thing, that she was hopeless and all that. Don’t get me wrong, if it was a bit less dramatic I might just have liked it. But after a few times of it? I got bored and just wanted to shake Anna and tell her to stop being so negative. Yes, you are a clumsy girl, but I am sure you can do great things. You are great friends with your friends, you are motivated to try again, you are doing fine in school, you have a great family (though crazy, very very crazy), and you have Connor (though that one was kind of meh in this book).
Connor didn’t help in this book. In the end we find out why, and all that, but by then I couldn’t give a damn about Connor. He mostly dodged Anna, he didn’t even try to go on a date with her, barely talked to her. I just didn’t like Connor. The last parts really made him better, but yeah, my thoughts for him were still negative.
But in overall, I just laughed my butt off while reading this book. Wedding planning, and all that follows with that (Dear Lord, I just felt sorry for the dad), Dog and his antics (seriously how did that dog survive until now?), Jesse and Danny’s stuff (especially Jess is a magnificent and fun character), the whole sports event that is going on in the book (and all that happens around and at the event).
It was a great book and I flew through it.
I also loved that we had email and note conversations, I really loved reading those!
What more can I say? Well, I would love to see a third book about our It-Girl Anna, after all we still got a wedding, and some stuff with Connor is just starting off, also I would like to see the new couple that popped up (which was kind of suprising, but I quickly saw that these two liked each other (though Anna… did not, her reaction was brilliant)).
Would I recommend this book? Yes. It might get a bit depressing at times, but for most of the time you will be laughing your butt off.

I was delighted when this book came in yesterday, finally my pre-order was here and finally I could read it! I have been looking forward to it ever since I finished book 1 and found out about 2.
Anna is a great character, hilarious, and I do wonder how she has survived up to age 14 so far. I mean, this girl is so accident prone that it is a miracle she is still in one piece (and those around her as well). OK, sure, she also has some good talents, but she has an uncanny skill to do something which she totally didn’t mean.
