Many cultures throughout the ages have incorporated crystals into their spiritual practices. The power of crystals lies in the positive energy of our response to them, and this insightful guide shows how to unlock the secrets of the earth's gems, and find new spiritual insights. Medium sized paperback aimed at a general reader, who would like to try applying the principles of crystal healing. It is "designed to offer a wide variety of practical ways to use crystals to improve your health, balance your emotions and access spiritual peace and harmony". There are many suggestions as to how to relax, and which specific crystals are believed by the therapists in this tradition to be appropriate for which mental state or physical condition.

It is lavishly illustrated, often with photographs of people using crystals in this way. The crystals themselves are beautifully photographed and always clearly labelled for the uninitiated.

It is not a book about Geology, and the technical side of this book comes from a very different place. Headings for the attributes of each of the gemstones are: description, chakra, history, and healing properties. It is a very attractive book, because of the plethora of photographs of the more attractive coloured gemstones. Mostly the stones are tumbled and polished, but sometimes they are photographed in their natural state. The style is very chatty and readable, and the book is set out in a magazine style, although some crystal therapy jargon is used throughout.
