Cowboy Seasons Series: Four Book Boxed Set

Rate this book
Summer's Desire
When 26-year-old cowboy Holden O'Leary uprooted his brothers from Texas to Montana, the new vet advertised for a nanny. No woman alive would deny the Doc was as handsome a specimen as the sleek, hard-bodies horses he rescued. And that included Summer Fitzgerald, the voluptuous, honey-haired young woman who applied for the job, and was stunned to find her three charges ranged from 12 to 18 - charming, immature, irresponsible, and capable of winning a piece of her shattered heart.
With his stubble, his six-pack and his tousled hair, she thought Holden was sexy as hell. But she'd sworn off men after being implicated by her former boyfriend in a hideous murder that had badly wounded her - and her reputation. He had sworn off women because his lousy judgment had endangered his family. The fact was: he found Summer totally irresistible, and more vulnerable than vicious -- despite the warnings: "She's real good with that innocent act, but don't let her fool you.... She'll end up behind bars soon enough. "....
Would the past catch up with both of them? Who killed the bar owner - and why? What was the real reason Holden had moved? How would the Doc and the nanny deal with their passionate attraction, crippling rumors of savage scandals, and shocking, long buried secrets? Will brother be pitted against brother? When does true love exact a price too great to pay? And - when is a life-threatening risk worth taking?
Saddle up for one of today's most tempestuous romances - laced with a dazzling double mystery, and surrounded by more hunky cowboys than you can wave a lasso at....

Excellent series!

Loved every single one of these good as gold cowboys and the strong terrific women in their lives. I wanted Caleb to find love too, he was one of my favorites. So sad. Wonderful characters, very well written, loads of drama. Wow!

Okay what can I say? The plots as such, the ideas for the stories, those were good, interesting and promising. The protagonists, for most of the part, were interesting as well, sympathetic (at least until the females lost all brain cells because the male hero smiled at them, and became damsels in distress).
The implementation of the ideas? Absolutely not to my liking, and isn't it a good thing tastes are a very personal matter.
It may have been the fact that I had the electronic version of these 4 books, and something went wrong with the settings. Here, the formatting was just plain awful, and made no sense at all. Words, whole sentences seemed to have been missing. All four stories had trust issues as one main ingredient, so to say, and in one paragraph our female protagonist has a big problem with her male counterpart, literally in the next paragraph or sentence just a smile reduced her to a puddle of hormones and made her forgive everything??? I had the impression that something important was missing to explain her reactions.
The protagonists themselves, although not un-sympathetic, and with quite interesting character traits, started to act quite irrationally and made the stories sometimes difficult to read - I actually rolled my eyes fairly often at them and thought "oh gosh, drama queens".
The hot bed scenes? Oh forget that - they were put in like an afterthought, you know, like "oh 20 pages, I have to write another bed scene". The descriptions of the "acts" themselves actually made me chuckle: the choice of words used to describe what should have been hot, steamy and passionate was everything but - I have seen more passion reading a tractor manual or legal statements!
And let's not go into grammar or spelling please, that was the stuff for nightmares.
On the whole, this is nothing I would recommend, sorry to say, and it only escaped the "absolutely awful" mark because firstly, I did like the ideas behind the stories, the actual plots (or what they could have been), and secondly, and most importantly, although I did not like the books, I do appreciate the work the author put into them, and her sharing them with the readers.

Fantastic set.

I loves all the books but one stood out more. I couldn't even get through the last book first chapter without tears. I couldn't believe what I read. Can u say never seen that one coming in just knew I would be reading a book about him but no. I was so shocked. Ugh still heart broken about that. I love the way this author pulls up in with her books. She has a style that leaves us wanting and breathless. Thank u a fantastic 5 star set. I will most definitely be reading more by Ms Ball. This is my first but won't be my last.

Beautiful Seasons!

First of all books where good and well told and written.
1. Summer - I like the story of brothers taking care of each other. Holden and Summer where great, learning to trust again and love again.
2. Autumn - I love the way Jonas call her "Fall" it was sweet and funny. I really love this story. It show how fragile soldiers comeback from duty and there fears and loneliness affect them. Also, how one time of going out to celebrate turn out to be the worst, especially when you don't remember it the next day. I really like Autumn and Jonas together.
3. Winter - okay this one was tricky for me. Winter and Stone had been high school sweethearts until Stone got another girl pregnant. 10 yrs go by and now Stone is dad to Rachel a b d divorce, going after Winter. Winter still single and never move forward with her life. Both together argue a lot and for good reasons. They didn't t know each other anymore, they still thought they where the same persons from 10 yrs. This story was the first story I thought the couple's should not be together. They where in love with the image of what it use to be. I really thought Winter and Henry where better together. Winter needed a new love. Stone was very moody, he needed someone new too. I didn't feel the chemistry with them. It was too forceful. I think they where better at been friends.
4. Spring - Colt and Spring I really love this couple too, next to Autumn and Jonas. There stories are so heart breaking and Caleb's death made me cry and mad. I don't understand why Kathleen had to kill Caleb and the way he die, but is not my story to tell. Overall I Loved it it was beautiful.
What I really, really truly love about this series where the cowboys and how they rescue abuse horses. It brought knowledge and concern. I wish I could help in anyway. Animal abuse should be acknowledged nationwide as any other type of abuse and have the support to save all lives.

This was a bundle of 4 books about women named, Summer, Autumn, Winter, & Spring. Kind of a cute idea and sweet cowboys.
All the stories were sweet and simple. I enjoyed them. However, not one time did all the women clue in or voice the cuteness they were all named after the 4 seasons to these men who all knew each other. Its not something most people would have missed.
Every story had all the ingredients. A wicked villain and/or a woman trying to step in and take their man. Lots of sexual tension (not alot of sex scenes, which was ok). But these characters were frustratingly clueless at times. Not communicating when a simple conversation would have cleared up any misunderstanding taking place. Lots of needless arguing and hurt feelings and downright temper tantrums.
Yet still, I did enjoy the cute stories and everyone had their HEA's.
I appreciated how the author addressed the very real problem of horse abuse and that was very heartbreaking. Bringing awareness to this issue I think was brilliant.
All in all, good stories.

Four ranchers who care for abused horses

4 Ranchers who take in abused horses end up married but two were really not sure they could find someone who could fit their lifestyle. One and after his high school sweetheart he bailed on. First marriage was a disaster for him so he went after his former sweetheart for himself nd his daughter. She was reluctant to have anything to do with him. She do want her heart broken again. One couple had major trust and jealousy issues. One wounded veteran was very reluctant for any woman to see his major scars. He had women turn away in disgust. Their lives are interwoven because of their care of mistreated, usually malnourished and horses that frequently did not make it. Throw in a Sheriff and a town gossip.

An Awesome Read!

I absolutely loved reading Cowboy Seasons: Four Book Boxed Set. The first book Summer's Desire is all about Holden O'Leary a 26 year old Vet who specializes in rescue horses, but treats all types of animals including cattle. He just moved from Texas to Montana with his five brothers, all ranging in age from 18 to 12. So he needs a nanny, he advertised for one and Summer Fitzgeraled a 25 year old girl applied. She has lived in Carlston her whole life she's a little down on her luck and really needs this job. So she showed up, met Holden, he introduced his brothers and she said where are the little boys, these guys are all grown up they don't need a nanny! Holden explained that they just moved in about a week ago, the house was a wreck, he had a practice that took up all his time along, with the rescue operation and they needed help. She said she would give it a shot, and Holden left for work. Book two is called Autumn's Hope and it's all about Autumn Lavin a 24 year old women who is six-&-a-half months pregnant and just purchased the Carlston Bar and Grill from Summer O'Leary. Autumn is new to Carlston and aims to open a vegetarian restaurant & juice bar in the old Bar & Grill. People are extremely upset about the only restaurant in town that used to sell steaks and whiskey is now selling vegetables and serving juice. In particular is Jonas Barnes a former military vet turned cattle rancher who had the contract to supply beef to the former restaurant. He's a bit worried, since that contract's money was used to pay for his horse rescue operation. But as he gets to know Autumn he decides maybe a change is just what this town needs. Book three is called Winter's Embrace, all about Winter James a travel agent & former girlfriend of Stone McCoy. Stone McCoy is a rancher and also runs a horse rescue operation and has a little girl named Rachel who is four. He's also kicking himself for letting, the love of his life get away from him, after making a stupid mistake in college. You see his freshman year he went to a frat party, woke up drunk with with a girl in his bed and not his girlfriend Winter. A few weeks later the girl from the party was pregnant, he had to break up with Winter, to marry this girl and take care of his baby. Holden dumped Winter when she was 20, he divorced his wife two years ago and she left four years ago. Holden wants another chance with Winter, and arranges to go on an Alaskan Cruise the one Winter is touring. Book four is called Spring's Delight and it's about Spring Reed a young girl who has been abused & Colt O'Malley who is a rancher and has a horse rescue operation. Spring is a friend of Caleb O'Malley and he gave her a ticket to Montana and told her his brother Colt needed help with the books, and keeping the house clean and help with the cooking. So when she shows up Colt ask's her what she wants, and she said Caleb told me he had a job for me, well he's dead. She is so shocked and can't believe it, she just saw him two weeks ago in Texas. He had a snowmobile accident and died a week ago helping the neighbor next door. It's obvious that Spring is extremely skittish, just like his rescue horses, but he doesn't want to get close with anybody, but if Caleb sent her to Colt he obviously had his reasons and he would let her stay. Spring grew up in the Foster Care Program in Texas and she aged out of the program when she turned eighteen. She has relied on her protector a fellow Foster kid named Billy Jack, for the last couple of years and though he didn't start out abusive he has since turned and it just got so bad, when Caleb gave her the ticket she decided to run and never look back. Now she's at the ranch she's not sure it's a good thing but Colt is grieving and she needs to stay to get back on her feet. Spring decided to stay since Caleb insisted she would be safe on the ranch with Colt, and that is her number one priority right now. The author wrote an incredible set of stories all based upon the different seasons, and the characters definitely bring all the stories to life. Read this bundle and fall in love with the little town of Carlston, Texas. Each season brings another young girl into the mix, and it revolves around the horse rescue operation that the many cattle ranchers in the area run and help maintain. Each of the stories is a complete story about the man and the young girl they meet and tangle with. I loved reading all four stories, it's a fast paced read and will keep your attention and your heart. So take a chance and fall in love with Carlston, because I sure did.

Four stories, four themes, all interconnecting beautifully.

These stories were all well written in the main part. I am very disappointed that the author has suddenly found it necessary to throw in very graphic sex scenes. I believe that an excellent story can be written, leaving something for the imagination of the reader, such as ways of expressing love. I will not be reading these sort of graphic books from choice again. Even though I bought this boxed set, I think my money should be returned as there was no graphic warnings to be seen on the blurb which is why I
did not give the set a five star review.

Names a Clue

The seasons turn out to be the ladies' names and that is usually a Clue; stories will be great or trite. With these books we hit the "why read?" jackpot. Ms Ball's stories are below a sixth-grade reading level (says a retired reading teacher), and will drive grammar nerds (I am one) crazy. The plots are run-of-the-mill, and basic ideas are repeated ad nauseam. Yes, I foolishly read them all, hoping they'd get better. These books are a total waste of time, so I suggest you pass on this series.

Cowboy Seasons 4 book boxed set

This was the worst set of books I've read. I forced myself to read all 4, I was hoping they would get better but they never did. All the main characters were so wishy washy and seemed unintelligent. I couldn't connect to the characters. They annoyed me so much with the way the acted. The story lines weren't that good. There were some grammatical errors. Extra words or words left out but that didn't even matter to my review. I don't know if I've read anything else by this author but I definitely don't recommend this series.

Good stories...

I enjoyed the first two stories but they were a little too distant for me. The action was third party, not as seen or done by the lead characters. Minor proofing issues in Summer's story and minor formatting issues in Autumn's tale finally made me drop this collection without reading the last two. Kathleen has a nice feel for telling a story and I will look for more of her works.

Cowboy Seasons:Four Book Boxed Set

What an author! What a series! Each book was good on it’s own but they were all connected by the characters.Stories about ranches in Montana,a diner and neglected horses and or people. The horse sanctuaries were great to learn about ,but didn’t interfere with the good times and great characters.
I really liked this set and hope you’ll read it and find out just how good it is.

Great reading; the four boojs together were great.

The intertwining of the story in all of the books makes four short stories one great western novel. The reader is whisked through four wonderfully touching stories that force the reader to turn page after page without stopping until the story is completed.

Enjoyable reads

Overall, these four “Seasons” books were an enjoyable read. They sometimes felt a little rushed, or like they were made up of all the cliches you’d find in other romance books. The women were a little too unsure of themselves—I can understand self-doubt, but over and over and over again with it gets irritating.
In a story. Okay for a quick read.

She loves me, she loves me naught

I erroneously thought the book would be about the cowboy life with a little amount of a love story, however, it was a love story
with very little relating to cowboys.
The plot was repetitive much like pulling the petals off a rose while murmuring, “ She loves me, she loves me naught “

I call them the fantastic four

This four boxes set starred Autumn, Winter, Summer, and Spring who all moved to a small Montana town not looking for a husband, but did they find one? I loved each of these books equally. Adventurous, sometimes funny and even sad. Can't remember when I have enjoyed books like these. Enjoy!

Atrocious Grammer!

I am not sure if it was the author the publisher or the app. Pronouns left out. Repeating store lines. And little connectivity between the characters. It didn't seem as if the families really came together. I had to force myself to finish the book. First time ever

The 2nd story was pretty good though the first was was okay. The 3rd had characters so shallow and poorly developed that I gave up about half-way through and didn’t even try the last story. Even though I gave this 3 stars, I really cannot recommend it. I usually enjoy this author but this was a big disappointment.

Average writing.

Liked the stories. They could have been better. Too many grammatical mistakes. Hate when that happens takes away from the story. Too many detached and shallow scenes. Read the stories because I had started them.
