Paula Hope arrives in Los Angeles, penniless and on the run from a violent and tragic past. Her great taste and style catch the eye of an international interior designer--and her career and life seemed touched by the gods when she is asked to help redecorate the fabled Sunset Hotel. Then she finds a deep and passionate love with the owner of the hotel, superstar Robert Hartford--but happiness like this can't last forever. And there are those in Beverly Hills who threaten their love AND endanger their lives. The whole town is consumed in an epic battle to win the Sunset Hotel, while an ancient vow of revenge, a paranoid jealousy, and an act of betrayal cast a shadow over the happiness Paula has sworn will be her destiny.
"[Pat Booth] roars down Rodeo Drive in a sex-fueled tale of movie stars, new age mystics and a battle to control one of the world's great hotels."

Wow,what a book.Paula Hope comes to Beverly Hills from the swamp and ends up in Winthrop Tower's shop.He is a famous and much sought after designer, and he sees a talent in Paula and takes her under his wing.He lives at the Sunset Hotel and takes her there with him,She meets and falls in love with an actor named Robert Hartfort, who up until he met Paula had only been in shallow relationships and is known to be a real ladies man.Roberts big dream has been to buy the Sunset Hotel and when he has finally gotten it a woman from his past,a very evil woman,Caroline Kirkengaard aligns herself with the very rich David Plutarch to destroy him.At the same time Paula and Roberts happiness is destroyed by an Englishman named Graham who works for Winthrop and wants Paula for himself.

A fluff book that also managed to be insightful.

This started out slow but as you progress into the book the first part comes together and you begin to understand it. It was a book that I had to put down and come back to but in the end it keeps you wanting to know what happens with the characters. Not to give away the plot but there are sad and depressing moments that lead to wonder what the author was thinking and how but it brings the plot together for a great ending!

I started this book with a lot of enthusiasm and I liked a few characters(specifically Paula and Robert) as well but as the book progressed I became neutral towards them. When you read the book, you’d understand where I’m coming from because I don’t feel like getting into it. It’s definitely a lot🤣. Anyway, the plot was pretty steady throughout. It’s definitely a rollercoaster of a book which is why I gave it the rating of 3 stars.

Surprised by the low star rating this had a lot of interesting twists and the story flowed well. Never missed a page.

ISBN 0517572419 - A question that ran through my head the entire time I was reading this book was "is Pat a man or a woman?" I couldn't help it - the sex was too pornographic and almost every death in the book is not just violent, but horrific. This made me think only a man could think this was a good way to write a love story. Pat's a woman. I apologize to all men. The characters began to confuse me; Graham, apparently a young, hot British guy, came across as an old man and wasn't crazy in the slightest, until suddenly he was, out of the blue. Caroline, a sexy young woman capable of entrancing anyone of either gender, was so badly described that she kept appearing in my mind looking like Agatha Trunchbull from the movie Matilda.

In the end, Beverly Hills is just another romance novel, just dirtier, gorier and less well written. Paula literally drags herself from the swamps of Florida to the dizzying heights of the top tier of Beverly Hills, with hopes of someday avenging the deaths of several loved ones. Along the way, she meets, hates, gets, loses and gets again, the boy, moviestar Robert, to whom every woman is a sexual object. Until, of course, he meets Paula. Yawn.
