Arguably the world's most famous Swedes, ABBA--Anni-Frid, Bjorn, Benny, and Agnetha--delighted (or disgusted) music listeners with their too-perfect, chirpy harmonies in the late '70s and early '80s. This fully authorized biography complements their greatest hits CD, ABBA GOLD, and contains over 250 photos and a complete discography.
John Hugen Tobler is a British rock music journalist, writer, occasional broadcaster, and record company executive.
With Pete Frame, he was one of the founders of ZigZag magazine in April 1969. The magazine focused on the "underground" music scene of the time, and featured Tobler's interviews with many of the leading rock and folk musicians of the period, both American and British. He continued to write for ZigZag until the 1980s, and for many other music magazines since then.
Good for an overview of ABBA's work and all their albums; a lot of good photographs - and a good segue into a more in-depth story behind the band dynamics!
Like the many other books that cover the entirety of ABBA's history from the 70's into the early 80's (and prior to their 2021 "Voyage" revival), this book is chock-full of mostly familiar information to die-hard fans and plenty of colorful photographs arranged in chronological order. It is mostly comprehensive and is a good resource for ABBA information.
Like the other books on the history of ABBA this one has plenty of information and lots of beautiful photographs. It's organized into a year-by-year structure. There are a number of similar books, but I feel that having each one of them helps to form a more in-depth picture of ABBA than any one book could do on its own.
