Maria and Dwayne were inseparable as kids, they knew that they were meant to be together, and they thought nothing could tear them apart.
But then a freak accident ruined everything...
Now, by some miracle, Dwayne has reappeared in Maria’s life – as her boss. The old attraction is still there, burning ambers under the surface, but of course she can’t act on it now.
Or, more like she can’t resist!
But as they grow closer, and he starts to let her in once more, she realizes that there’s much more under the surface now, a past the she knows nothing about. Is it something they can overcome, or will it break them apart all over again?
I received this for free in exchange for a review from the author through Audio Boom. The audio book was read by, Lissa Blackwell. She does a decent job reading, but wasn't great with masculine voices.
Maria and Dwayne. Maria is worried about her job, after her company is bought out. When it's her turn to meet the new boss, he is the last person she expects to see. Normally she would be ecstatic to meet her old friend, but things have definitely changed. Each chapter has a title to suggest what is to come and I kinda like that. It's all from Maria's POV as she puzzles out the parameters of their new relationship. Why is Dwayne so cold? She knows deep down that they were meant to be together and is not going to let him push her away. Together they can fix what was broken. At first I didn't much care for either MC. It seemed like Maria had a big chip on her shoulder and Dwayne came across as kinda sleazy. But once the story got going, the characters became more complex and I wanted to know more. The ending is sweet and satisfying. The writing is fairly simplistic but entertaining. It is only 67 pages so I wasn't expecting a lot of depth. In the time allowed the story went from 'meh' to charming. I would read this author again.
Well... this is a surprisingly intense story considering it's not very long. It sure packs a punch with lots of hot sexy fun, some tension and some rocky sailing. (Please forgive the mixed metaphors.)
I really liked Maria as a character, she's determined and loyal. She's also willing to ride out the tough times having faith that it's going to work out in the end and it will all be worth it. Talk about a bunch of characteristics and behaviors that are worth copying.
And her chemistry with Dwayne? Smoking hot!
If you're looking for something hot with plot... bingo...
As always Lissa delivers great character voices and a lovely smooth narration with plenty of emotion being conveyed.
This book was supplied free by the author/narrator/publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
Very short story. Maria and Dwayne were childhood friends. Dwayne moves away and they lose touch. Dwayne come back after years and it just so happen he is Maria's Boss.
After meeting her new boss for the first time she is taken back when she realizes it's Dwayne the love of her life.
Dwayne calls her into his office thinking about whether her job is still intact after the layoffs. She goes into Dwayne's and as he is looking at her she asked if he recognizes her. He at first doesn't recognize her.
Twists, turns and attempted murder will Dwayne and Maria survive. This is a good read but, I like my books down and dirty and this is just a good romance book
Mine, Always by Simone Carter was a great read. Maria and Dwayne were best friends as children. They lost touch with each other until Dwayne showed up as her boss. Things are much different for him now but he finally let's her in as they grow closer. This was a good read, I can't wait to read more by Simone Carter.

A terrific story with a backdrop that is too often realty. I don't want to give anything away so I will just say I'm glad to see this addressed in a positive way. The characters and situations were realistic. Lissa Blackwell did a fabulous job portraying all the characters and emotions.
I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
This was a Romance book that moved quickly. It glossed over the small details. I actually read it in about 2 hours. It is an HEA ending so it's not something that has a sequel.
This book felt adolescent. Spicy scenes had no substance so they felt like they dragged on. I found there was an attempt to portray the female protagonist as a strong woman but ended up with a weak and ridiculous woman. Almost DNF because of it.
Another steamy sweet read by Simone. I love how sweet and adorable this story is with just the right amount of steam. I couldn't be happier having heard Lissa preform this story.
I am a sucker for second chance romance. This short second chance romance had me listening from the beginning and had me til it ended. I love short novellas in between longer books, and this was the perfect escape. Dwayne, a dark billionaire meets up with his childhood next door neighbor, Maria at work. He initially pretends he doesn't recognize her, which was puzzling, but she made sure he remembered. This story while having its steamy scenes, took us on the their journey together, working through Dwayne's troubled past. Since the unexpected death of his parents, Dwayne has suffered greatly, and only Maria can help him through it.
Lissa Blackwell narrates this wonderfully.
I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This story was very heartbreaking to read in certain chapters. Dwayne & Maria grew up together and were best friends. Life happens and they got separated. Fate has a way for them to come full circle, to reconnect again. Dwayne went through so much growing up, and I love the man he grew up to be. Maria never forgot about him. This story is true love and HOT.
A story with intense goals, finding one's self, and pushing through to the finish line. The storyline was great, I think though possibly adding a few details more into this would have made this outstanding.
