Valerie Dunaway is a former socialite who has hidden from the public’s eyes for years due to a horrific attack that left her scarred—physically and emotionally.

When a strange masked man makes himself at home with her, she’s unable to run, so she calls the cops. But the agoraphobiac won’t go into protective custody, so Detective Hollerman calls the only people he trusts with his last case: Pierce Securities.

Quinten Pierce is a Renaissance man—artist, lawyer, fighter—but his latest assignment has him losing his ever-present control. He’s got one fight left in his career, and can’t wait for it to be over, but when his opponent seems to have ties to Valerie, he can’t let go until he finds out exactly who he’s working with.

With the help of the Pierce team, the scarred princess and the rough and tumble street fighter must silence the murmurs of the past that threaten their future.

I am a huge fan of this series. The recent addition did not disappoint. It is Quentin's story and it didn't disappoint. The book really developes his character so you feel that you really know him more. My only complaint is I want to hear more about the other characters I have already read about in this series but I am just being greedy due to my love of the characters and their relationships in this series!

Best book from this series yet!

Another fantastic book in one of my favorite series. I have been excitedly waiting for Quentin's book, and Anne delivered.

Murmur sucked me in and didn't let go until the very end. I loved watching Valerie and Quentin come together.

I love how Anne successfully tangles romance with suspense. She is a pro at this, and I will be the first person in line for more!!

Go grab this book, you will love it!

Loved this book. Anne has made a wonderful story of a woman, Valerie who was so badly beaten and cut she encloses herself in her home, not going out in public for years. Her masks are the only thing she finds comfort in. When her home is compromised by someone unknown to her, and he makes himself at home in her sanctuary, she calls the Pierce Agency to protect her. Quinten Pierce is put on as her protector. His first sight of her stops him in his tracks. He has never thought he would find someone that could steal his heart so fast. He brings her out of her comfort zone, helping her accept that her scars don't mean anything to him other then she is strong, loving and a survivor. Someone is still after her, can they figure out who or them? Quinten is strong, patient and just what Valerie needs to find herself again.

Received this gifted copy for honest review.
Really enjoyed this book.
Loved Valerie and Quinten, loved the slow build up to their relationship but then the chemistry between them was off the charts!
Couldn't put this down, the opening chapter was a bit unnerving and made me need, not want, need to know what happened next! Great plot twists that kept me guessing till the end.
This was the first book in this series I've read, although it says book 5 it reads as a standalone but on reading this I have one clicked the rest of the series.

I truly do not know where to begin, Murmur was PHENOMENAL!!!
I have been waiting for Quinten's story ever since I finished the First book in The Pierce Securities series.... and my expectations were BLOWN. OUT. OF. THE. WATER!!!
I WAS......
BLOWN.
AWAY!!!!!
Valerie, a debutante that was known for her beautiful looks, sadly enough that is the only thing most people saw in her until a traumatic event changed her looks and her self worth, UNTIL....... another traumatic event introduces her to the gang of Pierce Securities and into the sights of a very determined Quinten.....
Quinten wants love, he want what everyone seems to be falling into at the office... Their happily ever after, but in the past he has put his heart on the line and mistaken his feelings for more than what they were.
Now he has his sights set on the beautifully damaged Valerie, but it is his job to protect her NOT bed her.
But the best laid plans to follow the rules get blown out of the water when sparks fly and the chemistry is off the charts.
Anne Conley knows how to suck you in and pull out EVERY emotion from you and keep you yearning for more.
I can't wait to see what in store with the rest of the gang is this emotion filled series!!!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

OMG MURMUR WAS SUCH A SPECTACULAR BOOK! I LOOOOOOVED QUINTEN! This is the newest Pierce Security book by Anne Conley and is my favorite so far! heart-hammering suspense, and amazing chemistry and passion, this book had me glued to my ereader. The way Quinten was around Valerie melted my heart. He seemed to understand her and care about her more than anyone and I found myself dreaming of him at night. Valerie had it rough. With being scarred horribly from her ex husband, she hides away in her home, and goes through anxiety attacks when she has so many people in her home or when she tries to leave...until Quinten. The fact that he treats her like a woman and respects her wishes and cares about her, shows her that maybe hiding, isn't always the answer.

This story blew me out of the water! I fell in love with the suspense and romance. There was such a perfect blend of both. I can easily picture this book being a best-seller because to me, it was!

Murmur gets an AMAZING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Quinten and Valerie are beautiful together and the suspense will leave you on the edge of your seat, biting your lip, turning page after page to see how it ends. WOW...JUST WOW!

This book had it all!!! I loved the action, the suspense, the growing emotions, and the perfect ending to a complex situation that lead 2 beautiful people together.
Quinten's hard exterior and hard pastimes would always make anyone think he's hard and a bit too calculating, but at the knowledge of a woman in fear, his gentle ways seem to take over. Valerie had a hard experience that caused her to retreat in to herself and develop a fear of anyone who can try to get close. In her mind, why would anyone be interested in a damaged woman, both emotionally and physically? When Quinten takes the job to guard her and find out who is breaking into her house, they both find that there is so much more than meets the eye in both eachother, and this whirlwind of a situation they're caught in.
Great story, Anne never fails to captivate and enthrall with her beautiful words!! Many many stars to give!!! Keep 'em coming!!

I received this arc for my honest review.

This is by far my favorite of the series. I have always liked Quinten but I LOVE him now. Valerie's story is so sad and heartbreaking. I'm so glad that she got Quinten to watch over her and to protect her. This story is my favorite because of the deep connection they have and his fierce protection that he has over her. I also think this is my favorite because of the softness to him, the glass art and the love of birds. You don't expect a fighter to love birds or even read like he does.

SPOILER--------------

I was really angry about the proposal part, I hated that it was ruined by the argument with his sister.
On another note, I did like how the plot thickened after his fight after he quit. I wasn't expecting to happen like it did, but I'm glad it did.

Received this ARC for an honest review.

Loved loved this book Quentin what to say even with his
Own demons he was looking for love.i liked how strong he
could be for Valerie.

Valerie's story was heartbreaking, it was however so cute she seemed
To feel she could trust Quentin given his body size.

The best bit was the connection they shared which developed through out the book even with his underground fighting, he had a soft artiste side that Valerie could relate too. She could also understand the need to try and meet parents approval.

The story was good and kept you wondering who the bad guy was. This for me was the best of the pierce security series. I don't know anyone who could not engage and enjoy this story.

Have to admit looking forward to Simon's and Zack's story.

When I finished Click...I thought , damn this is the best Pierce Security yet...well..I was wrong,
Murmur is!!
The story of Valerie and Quinten is amazing. She is a disfigured socialite, and he is sent to protect her. She is hidden away in her home afraid to face the world again, but a man in a mask invades her sanctuary. She hires Pierce Security to help find who it is and protect her, and protect her Quniten does.
Without giving too much away, this is a fast paced story with many facets... one in which i will enjoy reading again!
A must read series!

Wow I really don't know where to start. I hadn't read any of this author's book until I read a boxset which contained one of her books. Now I have read all her Pierce Securities series and this is the next instalment of that series. I don't like revealing the storyline in my reviews but if you want love, romance, heartbreak and suspense then read this book as well as the previous four. Was great to find out more about Quintin and for him to find his soulmate. Could not put it down and read in one sitting. Loved it.

I've quite enjoyed the other books in this series, but I am totally not feeling this one. The h is, frankly, quite weird, and I'm really not seeing what on earth the H sees in her.

I was hoping for a great h for Quinten, but Valerie is a strange, timid little mouse seemingly without much in the way of personality. Her supposed enjoyment of sexual kink and threesomes seems totally at odds with her bizarre yet somehow very vanilla life, and the whole story is not gelling for me at all.

Chucking this one in the DNF pile. Life's too short.

Growing up as the single child to a wealthy family, Valerie's beauty and poise was highly valued. Her parents used her beauty to their advantage, to further their business empire. They even "arranged" a marriage for her and Argyle. Although Valerie didn't love Argyle, she went along with the marriage to make her parents happy and to strengthen their business. They used her, until they couldn't use her anymore. Valerie now lives her life behind a mask, afraid to leave her house after Argyle's abuse.

Quinten's parents "pushed" their hopes and aspirations on their children as well. Quinten even earned a law degree to please them and follow in his father's footsteps. He doesn't want to be a lawyer, so he works alongside his brother Simon at Pierce Securities. Quinten is assigned a case he can't seem to walk away from--protecting Valerie from an intruder/stalker.

I started this novel not really knowing what to expect as I have not yet read the previous four novels in this series. I HAVE to read them now!!! I loved this novel! It is a stand alone novel with no cliffhangers. It is also #5 in the series. I didn't feel lost or feel as though I missed anything by reading this novel first. I just want to read the rest of the series because I enjoyed this novel so much. It was a suspenseful, page turner until the very end! I loved that Quinten was able to bring Valerie out of her self-imposed jail. I also loved that Quinten was the "Beauty" to Valerie's perceived "Beast". Loved it!!!! I highly recommend this novel to those who enjoy romantic suspense. Kuddos Anne Conley. I read a gifted copy and all opinions expressed here are my own.

An exciting and entertaining romance!

Murmur was an exciting and well-written story. There were many twists and turns that formed a believable unique plot. There was a lot of action and just enough romance to keep my interest piqued. Anne Conley really knows how to build up the action and keep your attention to the very end. The characters were well developed and engaging. She does a great job of intertwining the different characters of the series throughout the story. Typical of the series, this book does not disappoint and keeps you on your toes to wonder what is going to happen next. You don't have to read all the books in order however I think to get a good feel for the characters that it would be better to read in order.

This is another great read by Anne Conley. I recommend Murmur to anyone that enjoys reading an action packed romance that will keep you entertained all the way to the end.

Best of the series so far. Valerie has become a recluse since a vicious attack by her ex-husband. She is being stalked by someone and has stayed inside her beautiful mansion, surrounded by video surveillance, for three years.

Now that the person has violated her personal space, she has asked Pierce for close protection. Quinten is assigned to her, and finds an enchanting, beautiful woman wearing a series of bejeweled masks. She has, unfortunately, too many suspects in her life to end the case easily.

The other side of the story is the underground fighting that Quinten indulges in (he's a champ) and the connection between that and the case. These are some truly spooky people, and the case takes a really ugly turn before the end of the story and the HEA. There are some really nice details here, like the birds and the workshop. Well done.

Received this gifted copy for honest review.

This was my 1st Anne Conley book. Although this is the 5th in the series, Anne does an incredible job of giving back story on the other characters in this series. You don't need to read the other books in order to read this one. I will tell you that after you read this one, you will go back and get the other 4. That's exactly what I did because I didn't want to miss out on the other couples journeys.

Make sure when you start this book have have time to finish it b/c you will not want to put it down. From the 1st chapter I was hooked and I couldn't stop. I had to keep reading. The way Valerie and Quinten's relationship develops is amazing. The way Quinten seems to know what Valerie needs and when she needs it is mind blowing. She has Agoraphobia and hasn't been out of her home in years. He is intrigued by the steps she takes to hide herself in her own home. How she made part of her home her personal sanctuary. That is until a stalker invades her private space.

The strength these two have as individuals and then as a couple is beautiful. Taken from Jerry Maguire, She completes him. And he absolutely completes her. They help heal each other, the trust each other, they need each other.

It was exciting to watch them grow stronger together. Absolutely an amazing story. A must read.

Thank you Anne Conley for writing such an inspirational strong couple.

This is by far my favorite in the series but I'm bias to Quinten a bit since he's my favorite character. With that being said, this was a great addition to the series. Quinten is a big tough underground fighter. He also works along side his brother and closest friends. The newest case is to protect Valerie. She was a beauty Up until a few years ago when her husband went crazy and slashed up her face. Now she doesn't let anyone see her aside from a selected few people. When she must face people she has masks that she wears because she is ashamed of her face. Quinten is quickly added to the list of people she trusts. She doesn't even go outside but someone he gets her to take a ride with him. She slowly lets him in and he falls for her big time. The only problem is Valerie is a client and clients are off limits. Every one breaks the rules so would it really be that bad if Quinten breaks the rules to or is her safety more important. Another amazing 5 star read by this talented author. Cannot wait for more!!!

OMG! You would think that these books in this series would begin to get a bit on the "stale" side, but this book was every bit as good as all of the ones before it! That is the sign of a great author! This book might be my favorite one of the series! Anne Conley writes about real, down to Earth people that struggle with real life issues. Since the series started I have kind of had a soft spot for Quinten Pierce! For some reason I knew he was going to have one-of-a-kind happily ever after! This story-line was so well written that as I was reading I could "feel" it! It was like I was living the story not reading it! Like I was transported into the story. I could not put the book down!! The characters were extremely well-developed. I was able to connect with each one of them! I am certainly looking forward to reading more of this series and will also be looking into Anne's other work!

Cover:
I like this cover a lot, it especially makes for a gorgeous print book.

Editing/Proofing:
Definitely professional, though could’ve used one more pass for minor typos.

Formatting:
Very easy on the eyes, fairly consistent.

Overall:
This book literally gripped me in the first paragraph: it was exciting and terrifying all at the same time and I needed more. I’ve been devastatingly sick and this book provided a much-needed escape. The characters are perfect, as is the continuity.

Valerie is full of issues but still manages to not be too victim-y. She just needed some time, and new people in her world. Quinten is… perfection.

There’s romance and it’s done so well, I can feel the characters’ feelings. There’s heat and passion that live up to the gloriously-built anticipation for them. There’s action and good old fighting and mystery with a twist you might not see coming.

If you’re not reading this series, it’s your loss. I’d give this somewhere between 4 and 5 stars, overall.

This new book and the series are just plain awesome. This book was a great addition to the series. I have been waiting for Quinten’s story since I started the series. Quinten and Valerie’s story was just remarkable. The book gave me more of a glimpse of the mystery of Quinten and what makes him tick. Valerie and Quinten were made for each other. Quinten’s protective nature toward Valerie from the beginning and the chemistry they had for each other made the book a page turner, I couldn’t put it down. It was an added bonus to see how the previous characters are turning out.

I can’t WAIT for the rest of the books in this series.

This book is great! This is a new author to me, and I just love her writing! This is the first book of hers that I have read and I was not disappointed!

In this story, the hero is just going through the motions and wishes he had a woman of his own. He comes from money, so when he goes to investigate a new case, he isn't as awed by the house as he is by the client. She has been traumatized in the past but now she has a stalker. He try's to stay professional but she doesn't make it easy on him. Lol

Does the stalker get her? Does Quinton get his woman? Does he get a HEA? You need to read this book! It's a page turner!!

The fifth installment of the Pierce Securities Series finally gave us a look into the life of Quinten Pierce, A.K.A. the muscle at Pierce Securities. We've seen his serious side and his caring side in previous books, but we finally get to see him open up in this one. I thought this book was very well written and had a few surprises thrown our way. I did wish there was a little more action and drama like the first three books, but was very satisfied by the overall plot and characters. We also learned of a few new characters which means there will be more Pierce Security books to come, which I can't wait to read.
