I enjoyed the book because it feels simple and real. Angelica does not seem to want to push readers to think one thing or another, she describes her life as a gymnast of the Italian national team…and it is brutal, apart from the amazing friendship with her “original” teammates.
But I am left speechless by the fact that the opening is signed by the president of the Italian Olympic committee and yet in the past year it seemed like everyone in the sport world was surprised when finding out about all the abuse in this world. It’s all here, in the book. It had been published 6 years before.
This is a beautiful story of a young girl’s dreams becoming true but it’s also a painful one.
